When I think of Barra N, I think of being sucked into the vortex of Wrigleyville and teleporting into Bizarro World where everything is the polar opposite. Popped collars don't exist, and you'll find nary a visor or Miller Lite being imbibed on any given night, and while Barra N is a well-kept secret, they deserve mad props for their service, atmosphere, music, and dancing. Stopped in at N at around 8pm for dinner on Brazilian night, there were very few people in the bar, but music was still playing. N loves having music on at any given moment whether it's from their music collection, DJs spinning or if you're lucky when live music is playing in their backroom. The server was congenial and had a slight accent while Spanish and Portuguese could be heard throughout the bar. I quickly ordered some Argentinian Quilmes and savored the unique flavor. Next came dinner, I rocked some spinach empandas and pollo milanesa with melted cheese on top served with mashed potato with an oil that was used for dipping sauce for the empanadas. The empanadas were like biting into pastry heaven while the milanesa was crisp but not too greasy and the chicken was still flavorful exceeding even what I can make on my best days in the kitchen. At N there is a patio but that evening it was not a popular spot at around 9pm outside of people smoking. Back inside, I helped myself to some caipirinha and relished the cachaca while mashing up more lime. It's always great to watch the staff make the caipirinha and mojitos smashing it up lime and adding all of the magic ingredients for a more than ideal summer drink. I drank a passionfruit drink named La Passion, but it was served in a martini glass and looked very effeminate indeed, so I quickly switched back to Quilmes. As it edged closer to 10pm, the back room finally opened, but nearly all of the tables were reserved. My date and I found room on the couch on the side of the room to catch Bossa Tr3s play mad bossa nova with singing like Bebel Gilberto in a dimly lit room with dozens of other people relaxing and enjoying the ambiance and soothed by the smooth Brazilian music. If Wrigleyville chads and trixies decide to invade N, I will be disappointed and will likely have no one to blame myself. I don't think the chads and trixies will be cool enough to hang at N, so I can sleep soundly knowing that N will not be violated by their sullied presence. Long live N! read more

She is both tease and muse. Perfect woman. I want to hate you. But, I don't. Because you mix real deal mojitos and caipirinhas. You coax me to dance to your live music and DJs in the back room. Post very important, super-secret dinner mission, my ladies and I were in dire need of a cocktail. Preferably a well-made one. Ñ to the rescue...seriously. We were able to snag a table for the five of us along the side (great for people-watching) and a very attentive cocktail server. La Negra came to the table in all of its glory, the best cocktail I have ever had consisting of blueberry vodka, raspberry rum, blackberries all blended together to make a fabulously delicious drink that made me think of Jamba Juice, only SO much better. (Seriously if you can find me a Jamba Juice that will spike my afternoon smoothie, call me.) It went down way too easily, and was quickly followed by a warming sensation. I couldn't tell if it was the cocktail, the brazillian music, or a combo of the two, but I felt fantastic after this drink. This lead me to my second choice: caipirinha. I mean, it IS Brazil's national cocktail, I knew that I must order it. Little did I know that I would be a pint glass of squeezed limes and Cachaça. Oh, and a little sugar. Strong. Holy hell, it was strong, but hey, La Negra made me a little brave. Also sipped was the blackberry mojito which was amazing. And beautiful. Hey, I'm a sucker for pretty packaging, what can I say. Dark with candles, great music, perfect for after-dinner drinks or a full-blown night out, Ñ delivers. Pretty packaging and pretty on the inside...what else could a girl want? Tip? Have a cab company on speed-dial. You will not want to drive home after a few drinks here, and cabs seem to be a bit few and far-between. These are the best mojitos- I have been having dreams of their shamelessly delectable yumminess. Some girls may close their eyes and dream of Brad Pitt (or Angelina Jolie). Pshaw. Demanding a party for my birthday with friends- I wanted en-yay coconut, lime and mint mojito! Now, am at work today so hung over I might just die. The third coconut mojito seemed like a good idea at the time. So did the shot following that. And the Champagne before... My friend Matt patted me on the head and said something akin to "My god... I've never seen her drink so much. This is the equivalent to Ryan and I drinking three cases of beer." Someone at the next table exclaimed $8 for a drink? I replied: Get me two more! Overall I was very disappointed with this place. The highlight of the visit here was my entree. Unfortunately, everything else fell way short of meeting my expectations. We went there with a group of four. we went there after the sun went own for somewhat of a late dinner. You know how sometimes when you walk out of the sun into a dark room you need to let your eyes adjust for a minute so you can see? I had to let my eyes adjust from the streetlights as it was so dark in here. This also caused problems for me later in the evening. Our waiter knew his stuff. He knew the menu and did an excellent job of explaining things to us and answering our questions. Unfortunately, after he brought us our drinks and took our order he did not even come by again until he brought the food. We sat there for a while with empty drinks and empty water glasses until our food showed up. . OK now our food shows up. I ordered the eggplant and it was delicious. It was a good size portion, done perfectly and was incredibly tasty. I wish I could comment on the presentation of my meal. I could not see it because it was so dark. This was VERY disappointing to me as I like to take in the sights and smells of the meal as well as the taste. They served a salad with the meal. But it was 90% tomato and 10% red onion and dressing. I like tomatoes with the best of them but this was just way to much tomato in one bowl for one meal. I felt bad having to waste so much of it. This place is located Right tat the corner of Rockwell and Milwaukee. Since it is at an odd shaped intersection I was in the unfortunate seat where cars coming off the side street shined their headlight right in my eyes. This started to give me a headache after a while. this was a very uncomfortable environment for dinner. I hear that this place is well known as being as a good lounge spot and I can agree that the lack of lighting is conducive to a lounge type atmosphere. The meal was very good and I am not going to write this place off yet. I do plan on waiting until next summer to give this place another shot. Oh, Ñ, I love you, your dimly lit front room, and all the fun filled late nights of dancing to house music that makes my heart go pitter-patter somewhere between 124 and 128 bpm. True house heads will love what the DJs spin here: soulful vocal house, latin house, and even some old school. Throw in some good dancers, add a few mango mojitos to the mix, and you've yourself a great start to a night of good times. I've been coming to Ñ for a few years and I recommend coming here late night on Saturdays. Lately, Sunday nights have been really great with Lego spinning an eclectic mix of Latin Jazz, Bossa Nova, Samba, Afro Rhythms, & Brazilian/Latin House! I HIGHLY recommend the empanadas and if you come early enough to get dinner, DO IT! Gluttony is a sin, and sin is IN! So, just do what I do: point to the menu & say, "I'll take everything on this side", hang out & drink like a camel after dinner, and dance like nobody is looking when the DJs begin to play! I lied, I did return and i'm still not impressed. I tried this place again because some of my favorite people seemed to enjoy it on their visits. Sound is still pretty terrible for the space (the back was closed for private events). The empanadas are just ok. La Negra is still awesome! (not me, the drink). Staff is nice and very attentive. It's not the worst place you could find yourself on a Saturday night but when given many options I wouldn't even consider barra N. It appears that this is one of those places where it can go either way. Some people love it and some don't. Is there anything better than little hole in the wall restaurants that you might otherwise walk past without even a second thought? No. The answer is no. Don't walk past N. It is the perfect place for a girls night out or an intimate date night with your sig o. There is a pretty good list of cocktails (around $9-$12) and even though the food list isn't that big, the taste certainly is. I started off with La Passion: a passion fruit cocktail which was rum, passion fruit juice, and sugar. I hadn't eaten in a while and I'm kind of (read: totally) a lightweight so I was definitely feeling my drink about halfway through. I wish I would have gotten another one, but my wallet was happy I decided against it. I had a sip of my friend's mango mojito and it was super refreshing. I'd love to be sipping on that after strolling around the city on a hot summer day. There were three of us at dinner and we were all eyeing pretty much the same things so we decided to split three dishes: Empanadas: Five stars. So good! The outside was nice and crispy while the inside was hot and delicious. Our favorites were the corn and cheese and the spinach. They came with an oil with herbs for drizzling/dipping. Delicious! Noqui (gnocchi): Four stars. I love gnocchi. A noodley dish made from potatoes and served with a creamy tomato sauce? This is the kind of dish my dreams are made of. Ravioli: Three stars. The rav was okay. Nothing great, but it wasn't bad. Make sure when you visit N to get the empanadas and a cocktail! My taste buds were all kinds of happy. I've only been here on Thursdays for live jazz, but it's always been an awesome experience. My friends & I once went earlier (around 9:00) and we were able to grab a seat. We ordered the tortilla (which was a quiche-like slice of tortilla, potatoes, onion & egg) and the empanadas (ham & cheese, spinach, chicken & beef). Both were delicious! I also recommend the passion fruit drink they have with cachaca. It's addictive. It gets crowded as the night goes on. It's a really chill vibe - small, dark, smokey, the jazz. the crowd really gets into the music, it's fun and intimate. Once we went late (around 11:00) and we had to stand around for a long time before we could snag some seats. If you wanna enjoy a late, relaxed weeknight - this is the perfect place. I lived pretty much a block away from this place for about 2 years and never went in...maybe because it's squished on a weird corner between a shady auto repair place and the towering industrial skeleton left behind after a failed attempt at bringing another condo to a weird section of Logan Square. There is absolutely no indication from the outside of the building that it's not just some tiny exclusive club where they'd stop the music and drop their glasses if you just busted in there one night. Four years later, I'm glad I traversed back to the old half of the hood for dinner on Saturday night. We were intimidated by that nondescript exterior, and that hanging N sign creaking on its hooks in the wind, sure, but we figured anything would be better than boiled fettucine noodles and frozen broccoli at home. N-YAY for us! The bar is cute (and well stocked), I got a Hitachino and he got a mojito, both tasty. For dinner we ordered the tilapia on spinach mashed potatoes and the vacio steak (which made us snicker like twelve-year-olds in the gym during the Our Bodies discussion...the menu describes it as "flap meat"...COME ON!). Each came with a tasty little fresh tomato and onion side salad. The front dining room was a bit small, as it's in the triangular, corner-shaped end of the tiny building, but it didn't seem too crowded. Music was described by a review we read before going as "euro-Trance" blahbity blahh, and I don't know what the F "euro-Trance" is but if that's what it is, I'm here to tell you it's not as annoying as it sounds. The only annoying thing about it was that at about 9 or 9:30, as we came near finishing up, the volume was significantly increased and we had a hard time conversing at a normal volume. My first yelp review. This is going to be fun. I'm not sure why N is categorized as Brazilian. It is an Argentinean Tapas Bar/Lounge and is owned by the same people who own Tango Sur. Anyways, I went here on a Wednesday night and was a little hesitant on going, but it was for a friends birthday, so I figure stopping in for a little while wouldn't hurt. Yes, it looks shady from the outside and Yes, it is on Elston, a street that does not always seem safe at night, but it is well worth the trip. They had a live drummer set up and Deejay and they had a long and hot set. The drummer was on point and the deejay had skills. Being a former deejay myself, its hard to find a place that has a good resident deejay that I will actually like. He was rocking music that I would be playing everything from hip-hop to r n b, dancehall reggae and even a little samba remix in there. They never lost the groove and people were dancing or at least bobbing their head all night. I also enjoyed the very diverse crowd and the chill lounge type atmosphere. The bartenders are responsive and quick and the drinks are not too pricey. Best Caipirinhas i've had at a bar/lounge, besides the ones I make myself. The food is also very good and reasonably priced. Try the empanadas or the brioche or anything else. Very tasty. If you're looking for a chill hangout with a very eclectic music selection, good drinks, and delicious food then you gotta check this place out. read more

Ñ is a bar that apparently is owned by someone who wants to make sure that you can't find it when you search for it online. I'd love to know the thought process behind the name as you can't find it in your GPS, it's impossible to find on Google, and if I hadn't checked in when we got there I'm not sure I would've been able to find it on Yelp to review it. So, good job on that, I guess. Maybe they're going for some sort of super exclusive secret thing, who knows. The bar seemed pretty typical for what I've come to expect out of most bars in the city. Small, sort of crowded, weird seating, really dark, live music that seems cool at first but then just becomes obnoxious as you can't hear what anyone is saying, etc. I don't know, I'd love to leave a more respectable Yelp review for this place as it feels really sort but Ñ to me just felt like every bar. Their beer selection is decent, I guess. I was able to order a 5 Rabbit there which you can't find everywhere, and Delirium Tremens is also available. The mojitos they serve here are good, and come with enough citrus in them to fend off scurvy for months. At least parking nearby was easy. read more

I've been going to N for quite a long time given that its not very far from my place in Logan Square. The food is good if you are looking for a little snack while you drink some Cuba Libres or Mojitos. I go there for the great drinks and music. I had some of the best dates of my life at ñ with my then boyfriend at now husband, this place is great. The mojitos are sooo delicious and the Tuesday Samba nights can't be beat. Let me tell you, the first time my husband took me to ñ it was my birthday in 2006 and I was skeptical to say the least. The place looks preeeety shady from the outside. Once we were inside and we were tucked away at a cozy table listening and eventually dancing to some of the best live music in town, I was sold. The small plates are great, but I really like this place for the music, mojitos and the vibe. Welcome to Latin night! My friends and I, a group of about 10, decided to venture in after a night out for dinner, a few had been before and seemed to really enjoy it. The entrance is a bit odd as one door leads to a tiny vestibule before another leads to the actual bar. Upon our arrival many were already in full 'swing' as they moved their way around the somewhat small 'dance' area. The bar is long enough to seat about 15 people comfortably and there were a few tables along the outer wall for others to sit. Our group knew there was more, so we ventured past the somewhat interesting smelling bathrooms to the back room. "Wow! I can breath!". The backroom was completely empty it too had tables along the outer walls and a few lounge like seats just as soon as you walked in. We took over, and the dance area was plenty big for most of us to enjoy the non-stop Latin spins. The drinks weren't too pricey about 10$ each for what we had (sorry don't remember most of the night, let alone what I was drinking) and the 'waitress' was attentive and ready to help us 'enjoy our night'. Unfortunately, the backroom closes at 1, so our 'personal space' was soon moved to the front, crowded and awkward dance area... Didn't much matter, we still dance the night away. read more

Had probably driven past this place a million times and have never been here. In December, my friend had a birthday party on a Saturday night and we all came here for dinner. The food was great -we all shared empanadas and had a few drinks. The waitress was great -initially it started off as only 6 of us but then the party got bigger. As people kept adding to our table, the waitress was able to keep up with food and drink orders. As it got later, the music turned to more of a dance vibe and it got super crowded! Visit 411: I had drinks and empanadas here. Ambiance 411: This place has a tiny front bar/restaurant area. There were only about 6-8 tables for those eating. The bar is pretty small with not a lot of seating. It's not fancy at all. Drinks 411: The mojito was tasty. I would stick with that. The fruit punch rum drink tasted...OK, but it's not a well made cocktail. I wouldn't order it again. Empanadas 411: They were good. I've had better. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, and was very disappointed to say the least. The aesthetic of the interior is nice but the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other. The host was unprofessional, but the server was great. Our drinks weren't well made, and tasted like they bartender didn't know what they were doing. The empanadas were either over seasoned, or tasted like cheap ingredients were used. The Vacio steak was ok, but the Costeleta was chewy and flavorless. The only thing perfectly salted about this place was me - I AM SALTY AF for paying this much to eat this poorly. This place isn't cheap, and for these price points the food should be MUCH better. Vibrant, dark, sexy atmosphere. Its in a low key area, which makes it even better. With that said... Here something I noticed from reading some reviews... What a lot of people need to realize is that Ñ is a BAR, that serves food, it is not a RESTAURANT with a BAR! Some complain about the food, and how is it possible to be owned by the same owner as Tango Sur. But they really have to noticed you are in a BAR. People go to BARS to drink, and if they have then great!, It just happens that Ñ has the best of both worlds. Amazing drinks, and great food to go along with it. =) read more

Changing my review due to blatant theft and lack of reimbursement. Upon receiving my bill, there were 3 extra drinks. The waitress knew immediately without even looking at the receipt. I would say that's odd, but this was not the first time I've experienced wait staff trying to get away with adding extra drinks; with a true mistake they would typically double check the bill. She suggested it was a mistake and the drinks were added from a different table. In a bare restaurant the table to the left was babysitting a beer for a long time and to the right nobody was drinking, let alone the shots that were added to my bill. We didn't sign anything yet at this point, and she came back with a different bill that did not have a slot to add a tip, however the total amount was corrected. Perhaps she was embarrassed with getting caught? We paid the bill, then we left. A couple days later I checked my credit card statement which was $30 more than the bill I paid. We called and the manager said she remembered us and that they add on their own tip. ( Without permission? Seriously? Should I start adding tips too when I'm charging people? Is that even legal? That's theft.) A solid 20%. Without signature, without permission. After the waitress tried to rip us off, they had the audacity to add on $30. It's been 11 days now, she said she can't reimburse us, that she has to do it through the bank/processor. 11 days and still nothing. Yet somehow every other business I've encountered was able to offer reimbursement immediately. Check your bills and check your statements because they like to add on items and add charges to your card days later. read more

This is kind of an odd-ball place...and I'm really happy it's in my neighborhood. I don't think I've been to anywhere else quite like it in Chicago. The N Restaurant is a latin bar which is a completely different experience from a mexican bar or any other type of bar. I think the other reviews may have been expecting something else, or didn't give it a chance to grow on them. Horrible service the waitress kept rushing our order, I had a few questions about how a drink was made she gave me absolutely no info on it I said ok I'll take it and she showed up with drinks for everyone but me, Mu wife's first drink was made with lime and our swims drinks took about 20 minutes for us to get them after we ordered, they did not put limes in it and my wife asked if she could bring us lime that never happened she passed us a few times and never brought us limes, the music was really bad as they had a problem with the speaker so they took off the music in the back room we where in, we where sat by a door and one of the employees went out for a smoke and left the door open right by our table I will never go back two thumbs down read more

Neat little out of the way location and one I was excited to try. I always enjoy finding places off the beaten path. The only reason I knew of it was because I always take Rockwell off California and on to Belmont when I am going to the Marianos. (Y'all know what I'm talking about!) Anyhoo the decor, and theme are appealing; Argentine gastro-pub, I like that. The interior is dim, but pleasant and the service was pretty friendly. Those were the good things. The food was simply okay, no complaints but nothing that really impressed me either. The music was absolutely atrocious though. House music blasting at such a high volume that I had to yell to talk to my friend sitting literally one foot away from me. I asked our waitress if she could turn it down and she said she could ask the DJ but that he most likely would not and she was right, he did not turn it down.... Keep in mind this was at 7 pm on a Wednesday. There were about six people inside all middle aged and all eating dinner, no one was dancing or at the bar. My head was throbbing after about 30 minutes of this so we quickly finished our meals and left. The two biggest reasons to come to Ñ are the empanadas and the cocktails! If you're into a club atmosphere, then that's another reason to come! I'm a huge fan of appetizers with my drinks, so I love coming here to have empanadas, maybe some fries, and their delicious Caipirinha! Mmmmm... I usually come between the time they open and 9pm because any time after that, it's a Latin club, and it just isn't something I'm into. However, on nights where they have soft live music, I love it! WOW! We hit up this place on a Sat. night and I didn't want to leave. We originally met up to celebrate a friend's birthday and really enjoyed the food and the mixed drinks. Especially the 5* worthy Blackberry Mojito. As the night continued, people started pouring in. I guess they're open from 6p-2a or something like that and people were just coming in and coming in. I was sitting at a table with my back to the crowd and when I got up, Woah, ho, ho. It was packed. And there were so many hotties. Too bad I had no make up on and looked like shit. Lesson learned. They also had a DJ set up at the bar, which I thought was pretty coola and he was jamming. Playing mostly danceable upbeat, house tracks. Couldn't ask for anything better. Desafortunadamente, I had to get my ass to work. I couldn't bear listening to my friends' accounts of how their night ended here. I missed out big time. Planning on a second visit very soon. Only issues were that the main room, the front room, is pretty small. The larger back room was being used for a private party. And street parking is available, there is no lot. read more

The food and atmosphere here is legit. I usually go for the vacio steak, well seasoned and cooked to order. The tomato salad they make is delicious for being all tomoatos and onions. Love their ham and cheese empandas. They make some good mojitos and caipirinhas from scratch and have an ok beer selection. The atmosphere is laid back but people go here to have a good time and let loose. It's pretty small but that doesn't stop people from grooving to the many music genre's they play here. Usually a dj or live band at night. If you don't like loud music go early to avoid the later crowd, they usually come in around 9pm. but if that's your thing then show up at 8pm grab some dinner and then hang out and have a good time. The bartenders are good and never had issues with them, but the waitresses are a different story. Don't let their sometimes cold attitudes and lack of service deter you from going here. The food and decent prices make up for it. Besides sometimes this place gets packed and is super busy so I cut them some slack. Great street parking. read more

I want to say I have to come back and give this place a second chance because they bombed my first meal experience. First off, you need a blind mans sick to get around because it is SO dark. I grabbed the candle plus my cell just to view the menu. Mind you, we were the only patrons there the whole night! That was too weird. Then I had to change tables because they were so wobbly and my water kept spilling on each movement. I ordered La Negra and waited in anticipation for this wonderful martini. Um, to my surprise it was mostly juice with a fifth of liquor. This was sooooo disappointing since this place is known for its drinks. We started off with the beef empanadas. I couldn't see what was in them so I was forced to use my sense of taste instead. They had boiled eggs in them which was so weird to me. I only had one since it was such a turn off. I also ordered the beef milaneza which is the breaded steak. This meat was thick wich is weird for milaneza which I've always had it thin and crispy. It was ok but definately needed some salt. I ordered a side of chimichuri sauce just to give it more ooommpfffff. The waitress was so nice which made me feel bad that I was writing this place off, that is why I decided to give it one more chance - but only for drinks! I really enjoy coming to ñ.... Let me start with what I love..... Great Date place ((Book mark Now)) I love the mojitos. And that one male bartender on Wednesday who just rocks it out. You think you'll wait for ever but he's so fast and efficient he gets the job done. I've been coming here for awhile now and I have to say the coconut and black berry mojito are my favorite. they usually add coconut creme or creme like substance but last night they didn't which made it taste like a regular mojito with the after taste of coconut. =( I switched to black berry and I was happy. Empandas are a must have. they're delicious. I esp love the beef empanada and that is hard for me to say because I truly live for my mothers!! The only mistake i made......was ordering ravioli in a Latin Fusion restaurant. This is why I'm taking a star away. The marinara was very water and runny it wouldn't stick to the pasta. There were NO Latin influences to the filling of the ravioli or the marinara sauce itself (million dollar idea). I have to reference my mom, My Italian gf came to my house for pasta and was amazed by the Latin influence my mom had put into the pasta she clearly could see something was different then her mom's "gravy." To top it off we waited a long time for it and some of the insides were cold. I think it was an off night ñ. We'll be back.....just not for ravioli. read more

I'm a huge fan of good Argentinian food and an absolute sucker for a semi formal, sexy ambiance that comes with a young, vibrant feel. This lounge accomplishes all of that. We came on a Thursday night in a rather large group of around 16 people. The Dj was playing tango and salsa mixed with hip hop beats, Jamaican reggae and had a live performer playing the drums to the rhythms - that made the place extremely interesting to be at. The waitress was very sweet, and did her absolute best to accommodate us - by opening up the back room and adjusting everything to our liking. The wines were very good quality, and when everybody began to dance I knew I picked the right place. The range of diverse groups of people that come here is incredible. That same night we met a professional salsa dancer out for the night, an entire tango band, two reggae lovers from Jamaica, a rapper from the west coast and an aspiring writer. It was really fun and the atmosphere was unbeatable. We also came back on a Friday to a much smaller, more targeted crowd for salsa and bachata only. I'd say Thursdays are the nights to go for a more mixed experience (in every meaning of that word) which Friday and Saturday nights will be more specific to a particular type of crowd. read more

You know what they say: You can't judge a book by it's cover. And so it is with ñ, a sexy Argentinian restaurant masquerading as a corner store. It could go unnoticed and is very unassuming. It wasn't crowded, but loud and dark. I guess eating in the dark adds to the exotic allure of the place and it's crowd, but dag, can I get a flicker of light, please? On a hot, yet bearable saturday night, we opted for the patio which we had all to ourselves. This is a great place for late night dining, as they're open until 2 a.m. We stopped in for late cocktails and dessert, and while I can't speak to how good the food is, the menu looked good. The desserts were stellar, especially the alfa jores, a layered Argentinian cookie w/chocolate, carmel and custard. Think the cookie version of a Napoleon. The cocktails were superb--and I'm not really even a drinker! I usually stay safe with a mojito everywhere I go. But ooooh, honey chile, that La Negra... the sweet aroma of La Negra had me bent--over the glass, that is. Smells and tastes like a liquid flower. There was a dj spinning house music saturday but I anticipate returning for dinner on either Tuesday when they have the live Samba music or Sunday when they have live Latin jazz or Tango. I've been forewarned that it gets pretty packed and to come early. read more

What a surprise! Our friend recommended this place and we came here on a Thursday night on the whim. For our drinks, we asked the waitress what's her fav. And these are now my favs! Le negra - a martini of some sort but extremely good! and i'm kind of a martini snob. Mojito - really good, like the ones i've had in Miami We ordered all the favorites of our waitress. Milanesa - My FAVORITE! I had a dream about these little sandwiches and I'm dying to go back for them. Vacio - the steak. Very good. We got it Medium Rare. Empanadas were good. A girlfriend recommended we take our out-of-town friend to Ñ, and I'm really glad she turned me onto this little gem in Logan Square! Our party of 4 arrived around 7pm on Saturday night and were seated immediately. We started out with a round of mojitos, and there's a reason this place is known for them. They were awesome! We had a couple of rounds of empanadas to start out with. They were perfectly done and came with a pesto-like sauce that was really tasty. We then had entrees. My one friend had a steak that she raved about. The other 3 of us had the eggplant dish, which is as tasty as it looked on the menu. It's probably one of my new favorite dishes.I have no idea how someone thought this was a small portion - it was huge and filling and tasty! Service was friendly and the ambience was nice. It's dark, but I really liked that. It gave it a very sexy, intimate feel. And the jazz on in the background enhanced the mood. This will definitely be on my rotation of regular places - although not too regularly, as the amount of cheese in the eggplant dish is probably enough to prematurely clog my arteries. ;) read more

Came here on a random Sunday night and man was it popping! The bar was dark and very small in front but there is plenty of seating in the back area.The back area is really cute too. It would be great if they had like an open patio area that was more connected to the bar. At one point my girlfriends and I ended up trying to dance on the smallest dance floor possible- it was awesome I felt like I was teleported to Latin America and just vibing out. But seriously the smallest dance floor possible like I literally could join the band drumming on the drums while dancing They have live music there that night- it was a rotation between 2-3 bands. They were all very good but man was it loud! (Maybe, I am getting old lol). Empandads were amazing- got an order of one of each kind. Each was just as good as the last. The drinks were also fantastic! I defiantly would love to come back but one thing I am not looking forward to would be the loud music. What are you waiting for?!? Great food and dark, sexy atmosphere. It transforms into a lounge with dancing at night and there is a live band on Tuesday nights. The decor feels more like you're dining in the West Loop which is a good thing because the area isn't the greatest. The front room seats maybe 12-15 and is decorated with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and tealight candles - unfortunately, not enough to allow you to see what you're eating. I actually took one star off for the location because it's hard to get to w/o a car and caused three girls in short dresses and heels to walk all the way to Western on a Friday night to find a cab. The restaurant from the outside looks like it's out of business, and the only detail suggesting it's a restaurant is the small dark green banner hanging in the front with a lower case "n (tilde)." The food, though, is phenomenol. We ordered the empanadas appetizer which has 4 different empanadas (spinach, ham & cheese, chicken, and beef) for $8. These aren't the typical greasy, deflated empanadas you'll find; instead, they are wrapped in a thick pasty crust crimped with a different design for each flavor. The vacio is a popular entree here and is only $13. It is an 8-10 oz flank steak w/chimichurri sauce and magnificent. Each entree comes with a salad (chunky raw tomatoes and onions in what tastes like olive oil and salted; simple yet delicious) and mashed potatoes (which was nothing special) or fries (thin cut and heavily seasoned). They also have a separate section on the menu for sandwiches. Mojitos are $8. I'd come back if I had a car. read more
