My friend and I came here looking for a good brunch meal after a workout. The restaurant is located on the outdoor plaza connected to Tysons Corner mall. It is also connected to the Hyatt hotel. There is seating outdoors, but unfortunately on this warm and sunny day we were told that outdoor seating was not open until 3pm (it was 11am). The brunch menu was not limited with a variety of choices such as benedicts, toasts, and starters to share. I ordered the crab and avocado toast which was topped with tomatoes, cilantro, and grapefruit. It sounds like an odd combo, but was satisfyingly delicious. The tart grapefruit marinated well with the spice that was present in the tomatoes. However, the dish was overpriced - $14 for 2 pieces of loaded toast. I guess you figured because crabmeat adds to the cost. We also ordered the tator tots loaded with cheese, jalapeño peppers, and green onion. It was a good combination of flavors, but you have to eat it quickly or else the tots become soggy. The service was excellent and on point. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us some great tips on what to order. Our water was always full, and he checked on us frequently. Overall it was not a good experience. I tried this place Friday morning last week (about 9 am). Because it was during a workday and so early in the morning, as expected, there was not many other diners. However, the service was very poor. The waiter did not checked in with our table (party of two). We didn't get out until past 11 am because the server went +45 minutes without checking in with us. Even after we were obviously finished with our meals and no longer touching our plates, I had to call the waiter over after watching him repeatedly pass our table. The diners around us came and went while my table felt ignored. Other than the poor customer service, the food was pretty good. I'd recommend the dark chocolate french toast for those that have a sweet tooth in the morning. I don't have a picture of it but it was tastey. Does this discourage me from going back? Not yet- this particular server may have just been having a bad day and unfortunately the customer was on the other side of it. Mother's Day 2020 was the first time I experienced B&B. They teamed up with Tysons Corner Center management and treated a group of us local Fit4Mom moms to family brunch to go. It was wonderful! We were each able to drive up to area just outside Hyatt drop-off for a no-contact take out, and they brought us two bags of containers filled with House Salad, Fried Chicken Benedict with Bourbon French Toast, and Bread Pudding with Bourbon Caramel Sauce. It was well prepared and packed for travel home, and everything was so delicious! This made our Mother's Day during a challenging time extra special. Thanks Barrel & Bushel! Went in with a group of 12 for Happy Hour and stayed on till 9:30 PM thanks to our FABULOUS server, Kairen! They hooked us up in a private dining area and we proceeded to demolish platters of delicious food, wine and cocktails. Don't miss the pork belly, sliders, and, believe or not, hamburgers. Let the bartender know to go easy on the ice in cocktails. Overall, we'll go back and request Kairen's table. Pretty surprised with my experience over here. Based on the yelp reviews, I was expecting an ok experience but I was wrong. I liked the table seating area a lot. The place was cool to hang out in. The service was superb. Our waiter was super nice and helpful. He actually recommended good dishes to us. The food was really good. Highly unscrupulous and rude staff as well as manager! I don't usually like to go to this establishment (horrendously slow service) but end up going here purely because of location as well as a good collection of single-malts and bourbons but never ever again! I have never experienced such a rude staff and the manager was worst because he basically called me a liar. So here is what happened, my wife and I were heading to Earl's Kitchen for dinner to celebrate my birthday and decided to grab a quick drink here. I ordered the usual Talisker single-malt for me, pinot noir for my wife and handed him my credit card to close the tab. When the check came for me to sign it was for $68.11??!?!? The bartender had poured me a 18 year old Talisker which cost $56.25!!! I was flabbergasted and told the bar tender that I did not order the 18 year old. I just wanted my usual 10 year old which is $17.50. He said that the 18 year old is the only one they have. I argued with him that it was not true and that I always get the 10 year Talisker here. I told him that I was not paying for it (actually I already had since my CC was swiped). He said that he had already poured the drink and he couldn't do anything about it. Naturally I asked for the manager, who had a quick discussion with the bartender and another lady bartender and told me that the 18 year old Talisker is the only one they have. I tried to tell him that I come there quite often and I always get the 10 year old Talisker. He emphatically told me that, it is impossible because he is the one who orders all the liquor for the bar and they have NEVER had a Talisker 10. Basically he was calling me a liar but unfortunate for him I know how much my single-malts costs at each bar that I go to and more importantly I save all my checks. I told him that I will be back with one of my previous checks showing him that I was served a Talisker 10 at that bar. I didn't want to ruin my birthday any further so I signed the check and tried to enjoy the $56 drink which unfortunately was already ruined because of the excessive ice that the bartender had put in it. Now if I wanted to drink a 18 year old single-malt I would've had it neat. I plan to file an official complaint with Hyatt headquarters about this and will probably also swing by to prove to the scumbag manager that it was he who was lying and unscrupulous. We entered the restaurant for happy hour at 6:50pm (I looked at my phone) and asked to be quickly seated so that we can order our HH food. The server was helpful and the food was great, so they get a star there. Also Yelp won't allow 0 or negative stars. Then it quickly went downhill. When we got our bill, we were SHOCKED to see that we did not receive the HH prices on our food. We ordered multiple HH specials and drinks. The HH was supposed to go until 7pm. The bill had a time stamp of exactly 7pm. So we asked them to honor their HH prices. Instead the manager came out and flat out refused to honor their prices saying that the system "won't allow" it. That is pure BS. Even if the system won't allow it, what POS system nowadays don't allow manager override? She proceeded to lie to us and said HH ended at 6pm, even though there were MULTIPLE fliers and even a poster out front that said HH went from 2-7pm (see picture gallery). To add insult to injury, she said she "saw" us coming in past 7pm and we wouldn't have gotten the HH special anyway. Well, how can they bill us at 7pm when we walked in AFTER 7pm? MANAGER FAIL! This is not the kind of customer service that I'd expect from any reputable restaurant looking to build a customer base. There are PLENTY of great restaurants in the Tyson's Corner area and we will NEVER come back to this arrogant, condescending, we know better than the customer, poor excuse for a restaurant again. 3.5 stars Living in the Tyson's area, I've tried the new Founding Farmers several times and found it to always be insanely crowded and loud and generally not worth the hype based on their other, superior locations. So I was pleased to see that Barrel and Bushel was opening this week and thought it might be my new go-to happy hour I really liked the atmosphere here. It was decorated in a hotel-chic type of way without being cheesy. When I went, the weather was nice, and they had the bar area open to the outside. It was busy but not to the point that it was unpleasant. We went around 5 or 6 and there were a few seats at the bar and plenty of tables without needing a reservation. I also appreciate that it's connected to the mall, so you won't ever have trouble finding parking or walking from the metro. I came with some friends for happy hour, and the beer selection was good enough that even as a person who is generally not a beer drinker, I could still find a couple of things I enjoyed. Drafts are $2 off during happy hour, and there didn't seem to be any other specials. I tried the pimento cheeseburger, the roasted broccolini, and the chicken sliders. The cheeseburger was awesome. It was really soft and rich, not quite what I expected, but really delicious in its own way. I'd absolutely order it again. The broccolini was good if you're trying to eat on the lighter side. I didn't care for the sliders, because they were way too heavy. Each one was like a Chick-fil-a fried chicken tender, and each one was on a biscuit rather than a bun. It wasn't terrible, just not very flavorful and not worth the calories. Service was friendly but spotty, but it was only two days after they opened, so I'm expecting they'll get better. I'll definitely be back to try this place again, and I'll eventually give their breakfast a try. read more

Love the atmosphere here! The inside looks modern with plants between the tables and has a wall lined with windows full of kegs/drinks and pipes that run from there to the bar. It also overlooks the bridge that connects Tyson's to the new office buildings they just opened up there not too long ago. They got the vibe, how about the rest? The drinks: You won't find any light bland beers here, they are all local and somewhat exclusive because this restaurant has some that many if not all other restaurants cannot get a hold of. The bourbon menu is also extensive, I did not even know where to start, but I love having all the options. The food: Craft food at it's finest, these dishes were made with love and dedication. Some of the things that stood out to me.. -72 hour pork belly: Yes it takes 72 hours to make, and for good reason, topped with a maple molasses glaze, these are decadent. -Hot fried chicken sliders: BBQ, hot sauce, cheesy biscuits, mayo, and pickles all helped these addicting chicken sliders into my tummy like an assembly line. -Hot fried chicken: A ridiculous looking dish not for the faint hearted. Bourbon french toast layers held this all together with and ooey gooey goodness of a mess of fried chicken, sauces, and syrups. This seems like the perfect spot for a happy hour after work because the drinks selections are very diverse and the small plates are all very nice treats that won't break the bank. I may have been biased because of how beautiful the weather was when I visited Barrel & Bushel, but it was a fantastic experience! There is plenty of seating - huge plus. There is an outdoor area that has waitstaff, and outdoor area with tables with bar service, and plenty of indoor seating. There are umbrellas available as well - always a bonus. We chose to sit at the outdoor seating at at the bar. The bartender was very helpful in suggesting both beers and food. We ordered two items from the happy hour menu and were pleased. The menu reads like a great novel, at first innovative, engaging, exciting, but then seeing it come to life via delivery/execution was an anti-climatic fail. The ambiance of this restaurant is similar to Founding Farmer's with a cleaner more sophisticated look. 3.5 Barrel and Bushel is the new beer-centric restaurant at the new Hyatt in Tysons I. The restaurant is very attractive with an upscale barn/picnic feel. The bar is large and sits half outside. The inside consists mostly of long communal tables in a dark wood, some of them with cool swinging attached chairs. There is a large patio area with more picnic-esque tables and some loungey areas. The vibe is non-stuffy casual and yet still upscale with a lively crowd. This place is going to be a hit in the warm weather! The restaurant is beer and bourbon focused. The beers are all local and regional and the selection is fairly vast. Set flights are available as well as make-your-own. I'm not too familiar with bourbon but it looks like this is their other highlight. Sat at the bar and ate smoked prime rib sliders which were well rounded and generally a likeable slider. Although nothing special, they were the best dish of the evening. For the main course the smoked prime rib while flavorful was a disappointment for $26. No more than 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick, it was tough. The side of shoe string fries was closer to regular fry size and was over seasoned. The spam mac and cheese was too salty (for bites without spam). Although the food was meh, service from Trent (looks like Justin Timberlake a little), was great. The tables definitely cater to groups giving the restaurant a festive feel. The beer selection is large and the open air restaurant formula is fabulous. Barrel and Bushel will be perfect for drinks with beer loving friends! Hopefully they can work out the kinks in their menu! read more

My friend and I stopped by Barrel & Bushel to grab a small bite for dinner. We saw that there wasn't any outside seating available, but asked the hostess if we could take a seat inside at one of the benches that was in the doorway area, facing outside, and she told us to go ahead. We sat ourselves down and another host came up and told us we weren't allowed to sit there and that we were only supposed to wait at the front to see the inside host for seating. Confusing, but okay! We were given a table at one of the indoor benches and our server greeted us promptly. He was super friendly and gave us the happy hour prices on our wine even though it was a couple minutes past 7, and he gave us some time to figure out what to eat. He was very personable and mostly left us alone as we ate and caught up. I got the house Pinot Grigio and my friend got the house Chard. They were both okay. Neither of us were super hungry so we got the mac and cheese and the fried rice to share. They both sounded really good! Sadly, they did not live up to their descriptions. The mac and cheese had a great consistency but was quite bland. The fried rice, on the other hand... was not fried rice at all! It's described on their menu as "jasmine rice, sunny side up egg, green onion, oregano pistou, B&B seasoning." I didn't think this meant those were the ONLY ingredients in it! I thought the sunny side up egg was a nice twist, but the rest was literally just rice with green onions and seasoning. There was not even any soy sauce in it. I'm sorry, but how can they call it fried rice?! I would like to rename this dish "Seasoned rice with egg." It was just really underwhelming and disappointing. If these small plates were indicative of how the rest of their dishes are, I'm not sure that I would want to come back to try any of them. read more

Barrel & Bushel touts itself to be "your neighborhood spot". While that may be true for McLeanites with their disposable incomes, I found it a tad too expensive for my pocketbook. I went with some coworkers and between us, we got the deviled eggs, prime rib sliders, grilled cheese sandwich & slide of tomato basil soup, & the hot chicken roll. The deviled eggs were not bad, but almost overstuffed? I found myself craving the Founding Farmers deviled eggs instead. My grilled cheese was good - the cheese was plentiful, gooey, and full of flavor. The sliced jalapenos that I requested added a kick that I like in most of my dishes. For dessert, we got the beeramisu (an interesting concept, but one that just left me wishing for traditional tiramisu), and the pan cookie with icecream (the only real winner of our meal). While the food experience was sub-par, the service was on my point. Our server always had a smile on his face, was available to assist without hovering, and tended to our requests in a timely fashion. The decor of the restaurant is quite modern, and I could see this being a premier choice for lunch meetings. Bottom line, if I feel like splurging on a week day lunch, I'll be sticking to Founding Farmers for similar prices and way better (& might I say addictive) food. However, Barrel & Bushel has a happy hour from 2 to 6 pm which might redeem them in my book - will keep Yelp updated. :) read more

I took my parents here for their 45th wedding anniversary and they were treated like royalty. My parents don't drink so they brought them a host of craft mock tails for them to try for free and a slice of dessert. We made reservations which were lost for some reason, but the way they treated my parents completely made up for it. read more

This place is a SOLID 3 stars. Not horrible, and not the greatest either. Despite going on a Monday night, the place was PACKED. My friends and I opted to sit on the patio. As busy as it was, the patio (which is huge and has about 30 tables) only had 1 server working. Due to this, service was slow as expected but our server really tried his best to make sure we, and his other 45 tables, were taken care of. And as busy as he was, he tried his best to walk us through the menu to tell us about the different features and menu items that he enjoyed. Drinks and food were slow... but the food actually turned out to be pretty decent. My friends and I tried the beer shrimp and the steak appetizer. The shrimp tasted bland and the beer sauce was pretty bad, but the steak appetizer was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I would seriously come back just for this. Because of that steak appetizer, I am looking forward to coming back and trying the other things on the menu. Honestly the food was kind of terrible. We went for weekend brunch and they didn't have a cocktail list...which...okay fine. But the menu is small and uninventive. The coffee was very weak/watery, which kind of makes an AM dining experience just unpleasant. Lastly, I ordered the egg white scramble. The "farmers cheese" in the scramble was cold, which made the dish pretty gross. Also it's served with a lightly dressed salad...which is a questionable accoutrement for a brunch dish?? Overall I found it heavily overpriced and overall disappointing. Maybe time for a new executive chef/menu. They're in such a great location that it's hard to see how they're surviving!! We've been going to B&B for years but I never checked in. Stopped by today for brunch and a couple beers. They usually have a pretty good selection of craft beers and they do flights too. I got the tomato and eggs which I thought would be a sort of "English breakfast" but it ended up being a soup either way! It was tasty and the bread was so crunchy and delicious. The food was very good. Pork belly- Living in Miami, I thought the pork belly was excellent, to my surprise. Spam macaroni and cheese - I love spam but didn't particularly enjoy this dish. I am still wondering if it was actually spam on the mac and cheese. Chicken sliders - awesome! Great textures and flavors. Crunchy chicken, spicy and sweet in a cheesy biscuit. Hummus. It was pretty bland. The grilled veggies it was served with were very good. Salmon sliders - they were interesting in a good way. They were like salmon cakes. Tater tots- they were very good. No surprises Service was spotty. We sat there for a long time and I had to go to the host stand to ask if someone would be waiting on us. I had to ask for water refills. I came for an event with their tasting menu. Over the course of the night I had the opportunity to try many of their appetizers and a few of their beers. My absolute favorite was probably the hot fries chicken slider. It was fried chicken with buffalo sauce, mayo, and a pickle served on a flaky, buttery biscuit. There was also a bit of a cheese crisp on top, which was tasty. Maybe you're supposed to leave it on the sandwich, but I couldn't resist. I also had the pork belly, which was so tender and juicy. I also learned from the chef that they use pineapple juice to help natural tenderize the meat because of its enzymes. That was pretty cool. Anyway, it was delish. If you love beef spare ribs, this is about ten times better. The roasted artichokes were quite large and the dip served with them was an awesome addition. The braided pretzel is perfect, and while I assume it's hard to screw up a pretzel, the true credit here goes to the cheesy dipping sauce served. With the pretzel. It was on fleek. Also I loved their large selection of beers and really enjoyed the golden ox. They also have a salted caramel macchiato stout--or something like that--but I think that will speak to their range. Despite its location, given B&B's branding, we didn't quite realize when we walked in that we were actually about to have dinner in a hotel restaurant, and while some hotel restaurants are stellar, this one just isn't. The physical setting is actually quite nice, with an impressive bar area and a dining room with a nice, inviting decor. Unfortunately, the mood that the decor evokes was somewhat negated by a manager who kept pacing across the dining room with his laptop, dongles dangling - odd and distracting at the same time. Add to that runners who couldn't figure out where the orders they were carrying should go and, well, you get the picture. We seated ourselves at one of the communal tables in the bar area, and the service was best termed 'efficient', veering somewhere between 'awkward' and 'sterile'. I started with a Jefferson's Manhattan, and it was really uninspiring. I love my Manhattans (don't judge) and, as I was drinking this one, I was wondering how they managed to make it taste watered-down. Let's get to the food: The tater tots are the thing to get here if you're stopping by for a beer and want something to nibble on with your drink. They're hot, have the right crunch, and were good enough for us to order a second helping. The chicken sliders were just okay, with a bit too much aioli and biscuits that just don't hold up, crumbling under the weight of the chicken. Also, I could swear that the chicken had a hint of fishiness to it - perhaps some fish found its way into the same fryer as the chicken? The chili mac is a pretty hearty dish, with a generous helping of chili beef over the mac and cheese - but, unfortunately, the flavor of the chili totally overwhelmed the mac and cheese. I think serving these two components separately would make for more successful entrées, since combining them just made for a heavy dish that didn't benefit from the layering of the flavors. So, I liked the concept, and I can now put a check-mark next to B&B, call it a day, and move on to the next food adventure. Definitely not worth the hype! Drove over an hour to meet family at this location while we waited for our party to arrive I ordered the B&B potatoes the order came out in less then 2 minutes so they had obviously been sitting and NOT fresh! I also found scraps of eggs at the bottom of the bowl not good since I have an egg allergy! Service was not so great! The waiter barely came to our table we had to continuously flag him down and even get our own appetizer plates. There's a sign on the door that indicates No Dogs a huge dog was sitting under the table next to ours. When existing the restaurant the dog shook himself and there was dog hair flying everywhere very disgusting and disappointing!! read more

B&B has some of those new restaurant kinks to still work out. And mostly in the host/ess department, which I couldn't help but notice was also a comment in a few other reviews as well. Not knowing how crowded a new tysons restaurant would be on a Friday night, we made reservations. Checking in at the host stand, the hostess started hitting buttons on the computer. Beep boop beep beep beep! Follow me, please We follow her. Then she stops. Oh. There's someone sitting at your table. Wait here. So we just stand there in the middle of the restaurant waiting for her to come back. *awkward* then she asks if we mind sitting outside. It's early may and still in that inbetween nice and still kinda cold (especially after the sun goes down) but it was nice out, and we agreed outside would be fine. She sits us at this table that is sort of in the middle of the patio, right awkwardly placed where people are walking around us, and kind of not near any other tables! Our waiter comes over to us and is like, why are you sitting here (basically is what he said) The table wobbles. "They don't ever seat anyone here" he says. Well go figure. They give away our reserved table and then try to give us the reject wobbly table. Our waiter was really nice though and moved us to another table, with comfy chairs too. B&B redeems itself with food, and for the fact they have Victory Beer on TAP. (A favorite) I would return, but cautiously. read more

Prime rib sliders a must. Slices of perfectly medium rare cooked prime rib with just the right amount of horseradish cream sauce and slices of red onions. They come three to an order. The tator tots with cheese sauce and jalapeños were awesome too! I just wish the tator tots were a tad crispier before put over the cheese sauce. Next time I will definitly need to try the white (infused rum and white wine) or red sangria (infused bourbon and red wine). Friendly, attentive, courteous staff. read more

Only went for drinks a few times, every time have thoroughly regretted it. Great location, but staff very badly trained and incompetent/inhospitable (never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence). Also, never had a properly mixed drink there. Last time, worst margarita my wife ever was served. Shame, this is a lovely space I'd like to go to more often. read more

The food, drinks, and wait service was great! We ordered the small plates hot chicken and salmon sliders, and the corn and avocado bowl and gator tots. And for drinks We has the pineapple margarita and a local beer. All of it was perfect. We were going to a concert and Wolf Trap and this was the perfect place to grab dinner before. I deducted one star because when we first arrived at 5:30 p.m. we were told by the hostess that she couldn't seat us until 7:15 because of "the dinner rush." But the indoor dining area was almost completely empty, which I found odd. She said to see the hostess outside to try sitting at the bar or on the patio. There was no hostess outside so I flagged a waitress who was confused to learn that we weren't seated inside because "the dining room is empty." After asking to speak with a manager we were seated inside with no issues. When we left an hour later the indoor dining room was still 75% empty. It seems there may have been some miscommunication -- hopefully there wasn't a prejudice or bias involved. read more

B&B is my Cheers. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and everyone is so amazing. I come here religiously because not only do I love the overall vibe, but also I love the bartenders. Everyone is great and nice and have always treated me with kindness and respect. Maybe it says more about me, but I know and love all the bartenders by name (because I definitely frequent more than my bank account says I should. shhhhh). Honestly they're all so great and are a huge reason why I return time after time. During the warm months, I love that B&B has a patio - a real patio outside. I can grab a drink and then a seat on a bench or a high top. It fits my summertime aesthetic. Does it get busy? Sure. But let's be real - this is the DMV. That's normal. The staff have made such a great environment where I am always willing to wait as needed. I know they'll take great care of me regardless. Everyone is wonderful and beautiful, and I cannot praise them enough. read more
