We went into Barrel District looking for a happy hour drink and pizza to take home. What a fantastic first visit. There was a line to get in but the owner talked us into sitting outside in the front patio. A great idea and the ample heaters kept it comfortable. Actually all in line followed suit. The Ahi stack was delightful and the beer and half price bottle of wine special on Wednesday made the wife very happy. I had heard good things about the food, so I was excited to try, when invited by a new friend. The space is a little cramped (more on that later.) He arrived before I did, but I didn't see him, so I was seated closer to the front, next to a table with 3 ladies of a certain age. We were quickly greeted by a waiter, who brought a carafe of water. I didn't see the specials, but they were on a sandwich board near the door. I asked the waiter if he would choose the fish and chips or one of the burgers. His response was an emphatic fish and chips. My friend asked for a pasta dish that was on special. The fish was covered with a very thick beer batter. I had to peel away 75% of it because it was too much. The fish inside was cooked well, though. I ate some of the fries. My iced tea was never empty. My friend's pasta dish was very garlic-forward and salty. He said that it was almost inedible because of the level of salt. But, he did like the ingredients and overall concept of the dish. My friend and I are of Mexican descent. The ladies next to us were not. Because of the proximity of their table to ours, we could hear them and they could hear us. One lady grabbed her purse and clutched it to her chest, the entire meal, once we sat down. Ok, no big deal. But, I heard them have some conversations about the "illegals" and "criminals" that had "infiltrated" the Valley. So, I began speaking about my underground railroad for getting undocumented workers connected to resources for citizenship. I even spoke about an apartment building that I had purchased in the area to house these immigrants. (None of this is true, but I wanted to see their reaction.) Despite pretending they weren't listening, they shot me dirty looks and immediately asked for the check. Buh bye ladies. Teach you to be nosy and judgmental. We came here because of the vegan menu and non vegan menu options. I was happy to see that the happy hour menu also had vegan options. I ordered the Plant Based Buffalo Avocado Burger with the vegan aioli on the side (Plant based patty topped with a vegan buffalo aioli, vegan cheese, avocado, arugula, tomato & red onion on a vegan bun) and it's Served with a side of french fries for $13.95. Wanted to try the vegan district supreme pizza (Tomato sauce, vegan mozzarella cheese, vegan pepperoni, vegan sausage, green bell peppers, onion, tomato, mushroom & olives) for $19.95. I was a little disappointed with our server because 1) She kept suggesting non-vegan options for me even though I told her that I was vegan. 2) she told me there were no more French fries, but asked kitchen and said there was enough for one more. When I received it, she didn't mention that they only had sweet potato fries left. I don't like sweet potato fries. I ended up giving it to my girlfriend. 3) menu says there are vegan sweet treats daily, but there was none served today. Other disappointments: my burger was missing avocado, and my girlfriend was not a fan of her burger or her salad. I forgot that it came with avocado until I read the menu again and the NAME of the burger. The watermelon margarita was tasty and my girlfriend liked her drink. There's one gender neutral bathroom. While, on a staycation in Palm Springs, looking for a new place to eat. We found the Barrel Station on Yelp. When we read the vegan menu and the reviews we were sold. The service over the phone and in person were excellent. We wanted pizza and for a vegan diet cheese is everything, so I called ahead to see what type of cheese they served. The gal that answered the phone got one of the cooks to come and tell me about the blend that they use. (Nice) My husband decided on the vegan buffalo burger and I had vegan pizza with mushrooms and vegan sausage. Both items were really yummy. The burger was juicy with a yummy pretzel bun and American cheese. The pizza had a delicious crust, creamy cheese and loads of sausage and mushrooms. I ordered it with a side of marinara and chef's kiss. The ambience is nice with great music playing softly, light bulbs centerpieces as candles all around, TV with current sports, warm and rustic spot. My friend and I got the 10-in pizzas and dinner salads. The salads are very nice. I had blue cheese dressing and it was fantastic. The I ordered a garlic and basil pizza with extra sauce and well done. I think it the best pizza that I've had in the desert so far. The wait staff is so kind, courteous and attentive. It was popping in here tonight middle of summer at 6:00 and they had a full house. It's pretty lively in there and it's a great crowd. All in all a very well deserved five stars from me. This was my fourth trip to this restaurant they are consistently great every time. Bonus it's moderately price so it won't cost you a fortune to have a pizza and a beer. The pepperoni was so damn good and salty and my wife is GF and they have cauliflower crust and she got the bbq chicken pizza. Overall it was so delicious!!! That Lady and I had some friends over and we needed a diverse menu of offerings and strictly by chance we selected Barrel District. Well luck was a lady this night! The food offerings are incredible, the staff is great, a top bar and a huge selection of beer. Need we say more? . Their pizzas are killer. They have one of the best tasting pizza crusts this side of the Atlantic. The young lady that makes the pizza dough knows her stuff. We had an incredible 10" vegetarian pizza for and candied walnut and pear flatbread for appetizers. That Lady and I shared a Classic Wedge salad with a shared a killer pasta with filet tips and our guests did fish and chips and the Smokehouse Burger with the House Salad. Our waitress Cynthia was incredible, made sure our beverages were perfect, she saw that are canine companions had water (Yes, they are dig friendly) and her warmth and attention was much appreciated. (For the food snobs: Barrel District is located in a strip center and appears to be a somewhat a sports bar, but trust me they are serious about the food they turnout! The Happy Hour is 7 days a week. PS - Took home an Arugula and Prosciutto Pizza for late night snack. (Two slices didn't make it home). Ridiculously priced. We ordered over the phone a 16 inch pizza with 5 toppings: pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, black olives. The toppings were $4.50 EACH, except for the sausage which was $3.75. They took four dollars off (not sure why since a friend handled it) leaving us with a subtotal of $42.70 plus $3.95 tax for a total of $46.65 for a 16 inch pizza. Save your money because it wasn't that great anyways. We ordered another pizza from another place and their toppings were $1.50 each. We (5 women) purposely did this as a comparison and Barrel District failed. The other pizza was a 14 inch so it was slightly smaller, the total was $30.54, and it was way better - way cheesier. We came in here for a quick late night dinner. There is plenty of parking, they had both indoor and outdoor seating, and a bar area too. The place was really busy for a Friday night, we thought we had to wait some time, but we were seated within 5 minutes. We ordered the Brussels with bacon, the 10" supreme pizza, and a cold light beer. It was a triple digit kind of weather and we were visiting town. I didn't feel like eating too much but when the Brussels came out and I took a bite, it was so delicious - crisp, sweet, and savory, it made me kept wanting another bite and another and another. I finished half of the plate myself. The supreme pizza was really good too. Crispy crust and bread, generous amount of toppings and it was really tasty. The cold beer, on a hot night, it was just perfect! I forgot to ask who our waitress was, but thank you for the recommendation on that beer! and for serving us rather quickly and efficiently! She gave me a fresh Pepsi when I was halfway thru with my first drink. That really impressed me being a former restaurant manager. My friend ordered the Ahi tuna sandwich with fries. She had a craving for the Ahi and it was superb. I had a few of her fries and they were the star of my lunch!! I love good fries and these are some of the best that I have ever had. I enjoyed their excellent filet of salmon sandwich I got on my way out of town! The salmon was a very decent size, a true filet (NOT a patty!), came with baby lettuce, mayo sauce (jalapeño? -but wasn't spicy at all) & avocado, all on an amazing soft bun...the combo & quality were so, SO GOOD!! A table of four was seated next to us about 10 min after we were seated. They received their drinks before us. And their food came 20 min bf ours. It took forever to get our food. We ordered chicken wings as appetizer and it came with our entrees. Appetizer people!! My ahi was cooked correctly, but there it was, alone on a bed of greens. No dressing. Unfortunately, the last two times I dined at Barrel District I ordered sparkling wine. Flat. No bubbles. So they opened a new bottle. A bartender and server should know that it was flat! We were there to celebrate a birthday. The server knew. She knew how her service was inept. She never acknowledged the birthday. How embarrassing that we took our friends there to celebrate. Never will we return. And we are spreading the word about how truly bad Barrel District is. As always the food is excellent & the service by our waitress "Cindy" was exceptional. The issue was with the treatment from the manager on duty "Delanie"....we have been coming here since you opened & have brought our service dog before & have observed many times other patrons with their dogs- that's one great plus of this restaurant in the past being very dog friendly. The manager told us after we were sitting there and had ordered that we had to put our dog on the ground. We have always had him either in one of our laps or next to us. He is a well behaved trained service dog. Anyways the attitude of the manager was very hostile... on the other hand our waitress " Cindy" could not have been more apologetic and kind_ even bringing our dog water.
