I'm so sorry I didn't take a single picture. The food was so good that I completely forgot about taking a picture and was consumed by the great experience. This was my birthday dinner. I ordered the set menu, at $40. I picked the crab stuffed snapper. (I think it was snapped, either way, omg delish!!!) it included a small wedge salad that was exceptional and dessert! The blue cheese was ample and the dressing not overpowering, as many places tend to cover the lettuce up with dressing. I wanted to try the escargot, not part of the set menu.. Escargot is one of my finicky treats. I have not had a good escargot in decades, seriously decades. The typical butter and garlic, steel snail plate, and shells were not here! YEA!!!! The escargot was served under a light pastry shell that soaked up the sauce and added to a tasty treat. I wish it had been served in a small ramekin, without the individual pockets. They serve it the way it should be offered. The pastry shell is exactly what I had hoped it would be. The serving dish aside, the dish was outstanding and EXCELLENT; I definitely recommend! This used to be a Mexican restaurant, which was a long time ago. Yet, they have created a vibe that doesn't feel like reimagining a Mexican restaurant space. Nope, it has a wonderfully calm vibe, simple and elegant water feature, dark vibe without feeling like a dark restaurant. An inviting space with booths and tables far enough apart that talking at our table didn't disturb other tables, and we didn't hear others either. I'm super sorry, but I can't recall out server's name. I want to say Alicia, but that's not it. No worry, we had three different people stop by our table and each of them was a treasure. The table was always clean and they were always nice. I tend to say hello to servers, or say "thank you" if they pour water or take a dirty plate. It was very nice that they smiled and engaged for a moment. The friendly service, not invasive or fake, makes them a team that's hard to beat. Parking is ample, both off or on street parking. Lastly, remember I said it was for my birthday? Well, after dinner they brought out a small candle lite dessert that was awesome. And, they began quietly singing a happy birthday tune. But, this restaurant instills a wonderful and open vibe, a comfortable space. They began singing a quiet happy birthday, but the entire restaurant began singing it too! Omgoodness!!! The flavors are consistently high-quality, with the seafood linguine, mushroom soup, and ahi tuna wontons standing out as personal favorites. While the crispy potstickers did not meet expectations--primarily due to a lack of crispness and an aioli sauce that felt less effective than a traditional soy-based pairing--the overall culinary output remains impressive. The service is truly outstanding; the entire team, from the hosting staff to the servers and owners, is exceptionally friendly and attentive. It was a little more on the acidic side than most places but it was tasty. House salad - fresh but nothing special. Mushroom soup - excellently earthy and tasty. Steak and fries - it was fine. Nothing to write home about. I could tell my husband was a little disappointed. Snapper and crab - I've never had snapper but it was tasty, cooked well, and seasoned well. The rice, spinach, and sauce were also tasty. Ice cream with berries - ice cream is never a dessert i would choose but that's what came with the restaurant week menu. It was fine. I appreciate the berries and the chocolate and berry drizzles. Also, always love a place that still does bread! Overall, it was good but nothing outstanding. Food was great -- we got the weekly special which included barramundi and potato leek soup (their soup of the day)! The barramundi is super tender and flavorful. Highly recommend. The potato leek soup had a bolder flavor and was a bit on the saltier side for my mom but paired with the bread it was yummy. The salad we got was really amazing and balanced, their carrots were very tender and we actually added the crab cakes sauce to balance it. The crab cakes are another dish I would recommend -- there is only two but they are very flavorful with the nice textures of the different vegetables throughout. We also got a sorbet for my mom's birthday! Super happy to be able to celebrate her!! :)) The sorbet was smooth and tasted great. Their dessert of the day / chocolate cake was a bit heavy though so I might skip that next time. Service was very attentive with our water and food came out pretty quickly. Definitely enjoyed everything about this hidden gem in Palm Springs. From the moment we walked in to moment we left, the staff was very welcoming , friendly and attentive. The ambiance is nice and inviting perfect for a date night or for a group of friends gathering for dinner. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Honestly the outdoor area has a warm relaxing atmosphere especially as the sun goes down and their string of lights are on. They also have a full bar with some beautiful crafted drinks that didn't disappoint. The food.... Not only do they do a beautiful food presentation, the food was delicious. The menu offers a great variety of options as well as specials which included dessert, I couldn't pass up. We enjoyed the crab cakes as our appetizer, they were so flavorful and just melted in our mouth. My friends and I all ordered something different and none of us had anything to complain about. The food was flavorful and well seasoned. Portions were generous enough to fill us up and still have plenty to share. My girl friends and I had the best time here. Service was great, everyone was attentive and came around to make sure we had enough water. Everything on their menu sounds amazing so I don't think you can make the wrong choice. Cocktails were potent but balanced. Ambience was intimate and polished. I absolutely loved the food. It was well seasoned, delicious and they even have a prefixed menu that you can choose from at a great value that includes dessert. The portion sizes for the food was perfect as I was able to eat everything and didn't feel sluggish. We found this place on Yelp and made a reservation that day of. Very cute little place dodger American/french/Italian and some Asian fusion style food. We got steaks for dinner and came with either salad or soup. We ordered both and love them both. Steaks were also cooked perfectly per my preference. Service was also good and attentive. Came here for our first night in Palm Springs and had a great experience. I really liked the ambience of the restaurant. We were seated by the fountain which made it feel peaceful and relaxing. I ordered the weekly special which was a shrimp poblano with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My husband got the filet. Both came with a salad and we shared a tiramisu dessert. The team works incredibly hard here to accommodate all requests and it seems they have a good flow. Yummy bread was served upon arrival and the drinks were pretty strong (good) too! First time at Desert Moon, the entire evening was amazing. Everyone of the staff we interacted with were pleasant, smiling and we had several fun conversations with them, not just asking and answering questions. Throughout our dinner, we had a least four people in addition to our wonderful server stop by to deliver our drinks, dinners, refill glasses, all quick with no interruptions. My friend had the Stuffed Poblano, (blackened chicken breast, Monterey Jack cheese, mango infused rice, avocado purée, seasonal vegetables, lemon caper beurre blanc.) I chose Beef Braised Short Ribs (Yukon mashed potatoes, baby bok choy, carrots, Bourgogne wine reduction). Both were absolutely amazing, one of the best meals we've had in quite some time. Seasonings, flavor, tenderness, presentation and flavor combinations were spot on. Nothing was out of sync or overbearing, everything came together to make amazing meals. Service was very prompt from beginning to end, with no feeling of being rushed. Everything happened when we wanted it to happen from our seating to getting the check. A nicer dining venue in Palm Springs. It's cute for an intimate setting but also seems to accommodate groups pretty well. It has some historical connection to Sinatra and other stars, like a lot of restaurants here do. For your meal, the Chilean sea bass is a no brainer. Cooked to perfection and seasoned well. It's worth it come to this restaurant for this dish alone. My friend also got the crab cakes and said they were good. The parking was a little tricky. The lot is pretty small and has a few other restaurants there so if they're all busy I can't imagine where everyone would park. read more

4 of us arrived for our reservations around 6pm. There were still a few available tables, but they quickly filled up within the hour. SERVICE: We were seated right away and Adrian took excellent care of us throughout our dinner. FOOD: The short ribs were excellent. Quality meat, cooked so the meat just fell apart. They substituted the regular side salad for a beet salad with no issues and all the ingredients were quality and tasty. They split the dish for us for $7. The sides were very good. ATMOSPHERE: The decor is warm and inviting, the seats were comfy. The volume of all the patrons was often overwhelming and at times was difficult to carry on a conversation. Part of that was due to the table next to us, with 12-14 patrons celebrating a birthday. Parking was tricky, the lot nearby was full, but on our second round of looking for a spot, one opened up right in front of the restaurant on the street. We've been vacationing in Palm Springs 2-3 times a year for the past 25 years. During our many, many stays, we tried and sampled countless restaurants from fancy and pricy, to mom-and-pop shops, and to everything in between. Some are still thriving. Others have left quietly. The rest are hanging on. Recently, we discovered Desert Moon on a recommendation. It's a fairly new restaurant that serves a fresh take on Latin Asian fusion with some French and Italian influences. I have been to many similar style restaurants around the country and a few in Coachella Valley, but none could match Desert Moon's combination of quality, flavor, taste, hospitality and price. Let's begin with quality, flavor and taste. We started our meal with Ahi Tuna Wontons and Crab Cakes. I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw Ahi Tuna Wontons on the menu. This dish tasted so fresh, sweet, crisp and slightly acidic, leaving us wanting lots and lots more! And the crab cakes were top notch as well. Next on the table were the Lobster Bisque and California Beet Salad. Both were excellent and on par with Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen in Las Vegas, which we recently patronized. On to the mains. We ordered Shrimp Risotto and Pork Shank Ossobuco. My husband said the shrimp was cooked so perfectly that it's probably the best he's ever had. The risotto was creamy and had a real depth of flavor. My ossobuco was excellent. Super tender with just the right amount of trimmings. Although I would've liked more vegetables and potatoes, the girth of my belly communicated otherwise. Finally, a great dining experience isn't complete without exceptional service and top-notch hospitality. From the moment we walked in, to the last steps we walked out of Desert Moon, we were greeted, treated, and served like VIP. I can see and hear the crowded dining room full of laughter and energy often lacking in a more upscale establishment, where the ambiance and formality just suck the life out of a special meal. Customers were able to be jovial, be romantic and be themselves and still be respectful without restraint. The staff, especially Serge, was extra attentive. Serge went out of his way to make sure our dining experience was the most excellent and special one. Serge had a non-pretentious and genuine demeanor coupled with a smile that melts ice instantly. When at Desert Moon, ask for Serge! Last but not least, Desert Moon is one of the few finer dining experiences that won't break the bank thanks partly to their budget friendly three-course menu. We've been to hundreds of restaurants with a similar menu that cost, in my guestimation (yes, this is a word), minimally 20-33% more. Our total (I won't repeat everything we ordered) including a dessert, a cocktail and taxes came out to a mere $115 + change! That's a very reasonable barrier for entry. read more

Really cool restaurant. Got there earlier and enjoyed a margarita in the bar and also had the ahi won tons. Excellent. Super fresh and tasty. We all ordered the seafood linguine. First came an excellent salad. Good vinaigrette and love when they mix in citrus like mandarin oranges. The linguine was loaded. 3 big shrimp, 3 scallops and a half of a lobster tail. So why 4 stars? The cream sauce was a little lacking for all of our tastes. A little thin. Had to add salt. I asked for Cajun to give it a kick and it was still pretty bland. Very small thing though. This is a not-so-hidden gem. We have been many times, and always enjoy the meal. We went in recently for the "restaurant week" before a show at the Plaza Theater (a short walk away) - Dinner was delicious. Ans it is clear they are working so hard to be the best they can be, everytime we go in there are noticeable upgrades to the space, to the vibe of the entire restaurant. We have notice the pricing trickling up as well, but that is happening everywhere. We always enjoy dining here, flavorful, well prepared dishes, excellent service. I just gave this restaurant 4 stars but I'm going to rant - in hopes that the management sees this. This rant is actually not just for this restaurant but for several others who have the same issue. The steak was very tasty and perfectly cooked medium as I asked and the sides were balanced (though nothing special). We really enjoyed the warm bread. The server was friendly and competent and the wait time reasonable. Now on to the rant.... I literally have had it with restaurants and their dismissal of the beer drinker. I get that beer is CHEAPER but you should still include it on the menu. Wine is a second choice (I had a very modest glass of Cabernet) and I don't want a specialty cocktail most of the time. I also want an IPA. According to most sources at least 25-30% of beer drinkers prefer IPAs and nearly half of beer drinkers drink IPAs. Why are they not regularly carried by distributors? Why are we given 3 nearly identical lagers as a choice (Stella, Modelo and something else)? I appreciate that they offered an NA option (Heineken 0,0) and a premium Delerium Tremens but the latter is truly a specialty beer that few drink. The ABV is nearly twice that of the lagers. Please consider adding an IPA to the menu. Go boring / mainstream if you need to but add one. Truly - it's needed. read more

My first time at Desert Moon and was I ever pleasantly surprised. The staff and ambiance upon entering were very warm and inviting. Kudos to the bartender for making a perfectly blush pink Cosmo! In addition to the regular menu, they were also offering their price fixe menu from Restaurant Week. Dinner started with a luscious mushroom soup followed by crab-stuffed red snapper served on a bed of rice. The portion size was perfect. Dinner ended with a silky chocolate mousse. Service was perfect! My friend and I never felt rushed and we even lingered in our conversation once our dinner was finished. The restaurant will be closing for July but I will definitely be back once they reopen. What a wonderful new find! Kudos to Desert Moon! read more

The staff were so friendly and helpful, seating was so comfortable, and the food was delicious! We sat outside in the patio and they kindly turned on the heaters for us. We got there around 5:30pm and basically had the entire place to ourselves until the end of our dinner when the place filled up! The four of us ordered beef braised short ribs, ossobuco, sea bass, and a pasta. Each entree included soup (French onion that day) or salad of the day. Portions were generous, it was all so good and we were stuffed by the end and even took leftovers that heated up beautifully the next day! In the area and decided to give this spot a try. I'm so glad I did. What a wonderful solo dinner I had. From the moment I walked in the staff was attentive and kind. Sat me at the cutest table and had the best service. Then the food. I swear this was the best filet I've ever had. The sauce the cranberry butter it was just perfect. Not overly salty or oily just right. It was a huge portion that came with a salad and everything. The price and the food was fabulous. And the environment was fantastic.
