This is a solid Filipino spot that's pretty authentic. I came with some friends on a Saturday for a late lunch and our experience was pretty good. We shared a couple of dishes: -Lechon Kawali: Crunchy, savory, and fried nicely. Loved the flavor and texture and how it wasn't overly fatty. The dark sauce it came with was good, but I think the brown sauce (like mang tomas) was a bit too sweet. -Grilled Chicken Inasal. Succulent meat, a good charred flavor, and crispy skin. There were some dry bits though. This also paired well with the chicken oil and dark sauce. -Adobo Rice: My friends really liked this one. The rice was fluffy and flavorful. I liked the additions of the fried pork adobo pieces on top but the sauce they were coated in was a bit too salty. The interior is colorful and cozy. The service here was great and the staff were super friendly. They even allowed my friend to bring her small dog inside. There's a good amount of parking in the plaza the restaurant is located in. The overload combo consist of pancit, lumpia Shanghai, Kare kare, beef pares and of course, the highlight of it all, crispy pata!!! Each of these dishes was delicious. The lumpia was crispy, Kare kare was thick and ohh went so well with the pancit, beef pares was tender and full of umami and the crispy pata was just finger licking good. Really disappointing experience here. We ordered the sisig bangus, and it was served COLD, not even lukewarm. The kawali it came in wasn't even warm on the bottom, which made it seem like it hadn't been freshly prepared. And it also had "sabaw" which I had to remove before putting in the to go container. We all know sisig is supposed to be dry. Even the sinigang wasn't hot like you'd expect; it was just lukewarm, with no steam coming off it. $9 for sago/gulaman. The crispy pata cooked in old oil. The skin was dark! Not like Anaheim Barrio Fiesta's crispy pata that is golden brown & sooo good! The rest of the food was blah! On top of that, our total came out to $148 and we tried to pay with $200 cash, but (who I assume was the owner) told us they didn't have change. It's honestly surprising for a business not to be able to break a bill, especially during normal service hours. Overall, the experience didn't meet expectations. For comparison, Anaheim Barrio Fiesta has much better food and service. This will be our last time here. We only came because Max's was closed today for Easter! read more

Barrio Fiesta has always been a favorite and was nice to learn that there was still one (although a smaller version) in Glendale off of Pacific near the 134 Frwy. It is located in a small shopping strip just right behind the mobile gas station. There is a private parking lot as well. Upon entering the restaurant, it is decorated in a forest type ambiance. The restaurant is small. We wanted to give this a try since we always go to another Filipino restaurant in the area. It was nit busy when we arrived. Their menu has a lot a variety of choices and I think as a whole, out party was a but sticker shocked with their prices about double of what the other Filipino sit down restaurant charges. For example, a regular size 8 oz of halo halo costs $15. A little more than one would expect at a Filipino restaurant. We ordered the mungo beans and daing na bangus with white plain rice. Food wise, it was tasty. The bangus was just a tad bit on the oily side than what would have been preferred, but nevertheless it was good. Mungo was good as well; had some soup and not dry. Service was good and server was pleasant. I give this location the above rating mostly for pricing. I recommend that staff look at the pricing of their competitors to make sure they are within the range for the area. Dining here with coworkers for an early lunch. We were able to find a parking spot pretty easily, but we arrived just after the restaurant opened and with the amount of cars in the lot I assume it would be full by lunchtime making it difficult to find a spot. We ordered the garlic rice, mixed pancit, adobo pork and lumpia. The lumpia were small, bite-size I would say. They were pretty moist inside, almost a little mushy. The garlic rice was quite delicious, wonderful flavor throughout and a little more moist than one would expect. The mixed Pancit was delicious, a blend of rice and egg noodles. Miniature shrimp and chicken along with vegetables were mixed in this wonderful flavored dish. The star of the show was the adobo pork. Although there were some chunks of fat that I mistakenly assumed was meat, this dish was rich and flavorful. I loved the amount of sauce that came with it which I was able to put on top of the garlic rice. I will definitely be back for this dish as it was so memorable I am thinking about it three days later. The service was phenomenal, it was our first time eating at a Filipino restaurant and our server was so patient and graciously explained the menu to us. Arrived around 11:30 am to an empty restaurant but by 12 it was packed. Every single patron was Filipino except for me, so I knew I was in for a treat. We ordered the lumpia, sinigang, kare kare, and a side of rice. I asked for water and was surprised that they only serve bottled water for $3. I ordered the pineapple juice, which tasted like canned pineapple juice. Food came out quickly and in huge portions, which explains why everything is on the pricier side. Lumpia was crispy, light, and hot. I hardly tasted any meat so I wonder if this is a vegetarian appetizer. Sinigang was a light and slightly cloudy seafood broth, heavy on the fish sauce, with big chunks of pork and veggies (tomatoes, radish, green beans, etc.) This soup definitely has a sharp fish sauce taste and was slightly sour. Kare kare has a nutty taste also with chunks of pork, eggplant, onions, and surprisingly, pieces of tripe! I'm a big fan of offal so this was a nice treat. I was told to pour it over the rice and eat it together. For something I've never had before, this tasted like comfort food that I can see myself craving on a cold day. Service was nice and pleasant.
