My quest to find another great burger spot led me to a little corner eatery in South Glendale. The branding here is bright and lively...kind of a mixture of pop art and anime. Inside is clean and spacious. Menu offers mainly smash burgers and chicken items, along with various sides. Prices are decent. Ordered the following: - Double-double wagyu smash up combo - 8.5/10: superb smash burger. Decadent, flavorful, what sets this burger apart is that they use wagyu beef patties and fry them in butter. Lots of it. Every bite is going to be juicy. If there was a comparable, I'd probably say Shake Shack's smash burger. It's about the same size and has the same soft bun. But Cluck's blows it away. Easily. - Fries - 8.5/10: seasoned extremely well, these are extra crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Comes with two dips of their burger sauce and ketchup. By the way, their sauce is excellent. Most burger sauces are too tarty. Theirs are well-balanced with some heat. - Six piece wings - 8/10: dry rubbed. Got these in mild. There are higher levels of heat, of course. These were perfectly fried and damn tasty. This really is good food and this spot should be way more popular than it is. I had lunch here on a Monday and there was hardly anyone there, sadly. I suspect it could he the location as it sits on a corner of a super busy intersection that makes it not easily accessible. Nice and clean. Cute wallpaper. Got the feeling when ordering that we were trying the patience of the guy at the counter. My husband has a medical condition. He can have a burger, but not onions or anything spicy. The menu boards were not specific enough so we had to ask a lot of questions when ordering. No one was waiting. It would have been nice if we had been treated with a little more understanding because all we were trying to do was to order a meal that would make us happy. As it was... My crispy taco was disappointing. The shell was execrable. After the first bite I broke the shell away to find a few tiny bits of chicken inside that were tasty and cooked nicely with a little bit of lettuce, tomato bits and cheese. I asked for a fork and ate it like a mini salad. Actually more like an amuse-bouche. The beef in my husband's burger lacked flavor. We make burgers at home with quality beef and this did not taste anything like. We asked for lettuce and tomato on the burger and that was okay, but when hubby said he wanted mayo on his burger he was told that was not an option. We did the best we could to order it in a way that he would enjoy but had to give up on that. We should have given up and gone somewhere else at that point, but we were hungry. Turned out the burger was worse than the taco. If we had just ordered the taco and burger, we would have called the meal a complete waste of our time and money. The guy at the counter offered to put the sauce that they usually put on the burgers on the side. He did and we tasted it when it came to our table. It was spicy, so it was a good call not to put it on the burger. It was also delicious. I bet anything tastes better with that sauce, so maybe that explains the tasteless beef. The seasoned fries were the best thing we ate. They came out hot and tasting of real potato. Besides seasoning they have something crispy on the outside that made them special. Now, I'm not one who eats when depressed, angry, etc. However, if I didn't get some real food in me and soon. My alter - ego, Commander A-hole was destined to arrive. What followed was a delicious, fresh, and satisfying lunch. The staff worked like a machine, they offered delicious choices of agua frescas, and the house seasoning on the fries had me questioning whether to ever salt fries from anywhere else. The food quality and the taste of the burger is so good and the waiting time was not that long. The guy who served was very nice and fast. I found out about this place a few weeks ago from a Yelp Elite event and absolutely loved it and had to come back and try some of their other items. They have a lot of different breakfast burritos and lunch burritos that have either chicken or wagyu patty in it, depending on which one you order. I wanted to try the Nashville Mac Attack, which included mac and cheese and a chicken tender for about $12 - honestly if you order the tender and mac and cheese separately, I think it would've been more expensive and I love the flavors together. The mac and cheese made the burrito really creamy and added a whole nother level to the chicken tender. 10/10. I also wanted to try their fried pickles. These are okay. I don't think I would get it again because they are actually too crunchy and too fried, in my opinion. It is flavored and seasoned well though. The service here is good and the workers have been very nice every time. Service is a bit on the slower end and it took about 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive but I liked how they brought the tray of food out to my table. read more

I've been to Cluck & Smash three times this February. The first time was for lunch on Monday, February 9th, the second time was for dinner on Saturday, February 14th, and the third time was tonight. Tonight, I ordered all the burgers to go because I had my niece's performance to attend. On February 9th and February 14th, I dined at the restaurant. Their Wagyu beef burger is absolutely delicious, and the French fries are incredibly crispy and tasty. Also, every time I've visited, all of the staff have been consistently kind and friendly, which makes the experience even better. I usually get tired of eating the same food repeatedly and don't go to the same place often. I've been coming here for their chicken sandwiches since it was Cluck & Blaze so when I saw they were converting to Cluck & Smash, I was ecstatic because I love a good smash burger. So I popped in to give it a try with a friend. We just happened to be in the area and since we weren't very hungry, we decided to split a Double-Double Wagyu Burger combo, which came with a drink and fries. I've had wagyu beef before and was impressed with its tender buttery texture so I was excited to see how it translated into a burger. When the meal arrived, I was a bit taken aback by the small size of the burger itself. Mind you, smash burgers aren't known to be large, but I expected more. The photo promised one thing and I got another. It immediately reminded me of the big fast food burger chains that show you photos of these gorgeous burgers piled high with ingredients and dripping in sauce. I got a rather flattened interpretation I suppose, more like a smushed burger than a smash burger. The carton also contained a rather sizable portion of seasoned fries. The burger, while tasty flavor wise, was a letdown. I was expecting some fatty, tender patties of wagyu but got chewy beef instead. It was nothing like the outstanding flavorful, tender beef patties you get at Proudly Serving or For The Win. And there was no crispy halo around the patties, another signature of a great smash burger. The fries were pretty good, but be forewarned that they use Cajun seasoning, not your usual seasoning salt. Thankfully they still have their chicken sandwiches on the menu and I'll be back for those. But I'll take a hard pass on the smash burgers, especially since For The Win is nearby. read more

I saw this place pop up a while ago and thought I would finally give it a try for the smash burger, I got the Double Cheese Candied Bacon and Jalapeño. Unfortunately the layout of menu in the restaurant was confusing and didn't show everything that is on their website. The cashier had the option for the burger on the register, but it was trying to force the combo as the only option. I only wanted the burger so I ended up just ordering off the website. I was charged an $0.85 Fee on top of taxes when ordering through the website, which was annoying since I just wanted to order there. I'm going with 3 stars and not less because the flavor of the burger was good, and the size was good too, unfortunately the amount of grease was pretty unacceptable. I understand Wagyu is much fattier but my bottom bun was completely soaked and sitting in grease. I would suggest they address these issues, it has deterred me from coming back anytime soon. Also the reason it took me so long to try this place out is because Cluck and Blaze failed because it wasn't good, so naming this shop basically the same thing seems like an odd choice to me. read more

Starting off, the fries were arguably the crispiest fries I've ever had without ruining the softness of the potato inside. They were also seasoned amazingly. The Wagyu burger was also very yummy. I loved how crispy yet tender the meat was. You can really taste the quality of the meat here apart from other smash burger places. The grilled onions were perfectly cooked and portioned too. For the chicken sando, I got the buffalo butter which was not too tangy. The chicken was also extremely crispy despite the amount of sauce it was drenched in. I got a single smash burger and it was perfectly cooked with lacey edges and a juicy center. The only change I would make is less sauce as there was a lot of it hiding under the bun and it was overpowering. I also got to try the fries and the mango habanero chicken sandwich and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches in terms of size and flavor. Tenders were very fresh and made to order but their medium and hot spice levels have no flavor other than just straight heat. Fries had a great texture but they were room temp. Staff is friendly and helpful. At $17 for 2 tenders and fries (no drink), there's so many actual well-known established Nashville spots with cheaper prices and better flavors (Dave's, Howlin Rays, etc). They also charge $1 per ketchup, which I've never seen anywhere in my life lol. Their "seasoned fries" are misleading as that normally refers to seasoning salt (Lawry's, etc), not their hot chicken seasoning. So their seasoned fries are somewhat spicy. Might be back to try their burger but even that's pricey just because it's Wagyu. People don't realize that Wagyu serves no purpose once you ground the meat. The whole point of Wagyu is to leave it whole so there's fat rendered into big steak cuts. Once you ground it up, it's equivalent to any high fat ground beef. Great staff and atmosphere, but in my opinion there's some improvements to be made if they want to last long-term. read more
