Went here because my youngest son loves fried chicken and he told me he watched someone in TikTok that went to several fried chicken restaurants and considered this the best one. Let me tell you - it's good - so good in fact we went 2x this past holiday weekend (Sun and Mon). We went for lunch - they have parking in their lot. So you go in and pick the table you want to sit in. Menus are on the table and the server comes right away to get your drink orders. For our first visit I had root beer float and my son had the sweet tea. We got fried okra to share and we both ordered the 3 pc chicken. You can change the sides for extra 50 cents. You'll see our orders in the pics. The chicken is juicy, not breaded and it's organic. You get a normal size chicken pieces so if you're used to big size chicken thighs / well you'll be disappointed. It's cooked perfectly and their table hot sauce is so good with the chicken. I loved the fried okra and the dip. The next day when we got back my son ordered the 3 wings combo and it's the full wings. I on the other hand ordered ala carte - just 1 thigh and the small side of potato salad. For me the best sides are the greens, potatoes salad and mac and cheese. Chess pie and the sweet potato pies are good as well. Casual atmosphere, definitely good for groups and families. We will be back.

    Lunch special 12 bucks.

If your a fried chicken lover this is the place for you. I been here twice and i can honestly say this place is consistent and always fresh n hot. Customer service is always great, waiters are always super nice. Overall pretty chill spot that's been here since the 80s old school vibes with TVs and music playing.

Not as expected. I love Gus' that I've been to, like the LA location and the Hawthorne (now closed) location. I thought this would be the same, but it's not. The chicken seemed to be over-marinated. Too much flavor (saltiness) and both the inside and the out. The service was great. The guys tried their best! They greet you upon entering. They bring you menus, food, drinks, all in a timely manner and are helpful with anything you need. The inside is spacious and clean. The chicken is good, but just over-seasoned inside and out.

4.5 stars rounded up. Gus's makes my favorite fried chicken. My scale is thankful that the closest location is an hour-long plane ride away. With their Oakland store recently shut down, Burbank is technically now "my" Gus's. I was finally able to try their chicken strips, which wasn't as good as their bone-in pieces. It reminded me of what some chicken joints might call a "naked" breading. The fried okra made a great pairing with ranch. Each piece was large & juicy, but still crisp. I was poppin' those like TicTacs (or whatever the cool kids throw back these days.) I also ordered my favorite piece, a drumstick, which was absolutely delectable. I should've ordered another instead of a breast because that second piece was way too much food. The meat is moist & the breading has the best texture & flavoring. I love that this fried chicken has no greasy taste. Chill, casual atmosphere. Awesome folks running the show. Gus's chicken is certainly famous in my world.

A no frills kinda chicken diner, with classic diner decor and retro color theme. I heard about this place and I was actually in the neighborhood to try it out. I went with the popular 3 piece dark chicken combo with a side of coleslaw and mac and cheese for a price tag of $21. The food was served within 5 minutes and I rushed for my first bite. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and extremely juicy on the inside. The bird quality was outstanding and the spices were there on the crispy chicken skin, but I felt that the chicken needed some more of the spices, marinade or rub. You can't choose your spice level here and have to go with what's brought to you. Quite a basic seasoning profile on a really quality chicken, but it also feels that maybe this classic chicken shop has paved the way for all the fried chicken enthusiasts around LA to actually open their spots and make the chicken spice flavor profile better, more flavorful, more unforgettable, more fire. The mac and cheese and coleslaw that accompanied my chicken, were very fresh and tasty. The slaw had its standard veggies with yummy light dressing and the Mac had cheese all throughout and some shredded cheese on top and both created a delicious bite. The design, the vibe and the energy of this place were not my thing and I feel that $21 pre-tax and pre-tip was a bit much for my meal. The customer service was alright. P.S. I learned from a sign on the wall afterwards, that they have a $12 Memphis Midday Special from 2 to 5, Monday through Thursday, which includes 4 chicken legs and 2 sides. Now that's a pretty good deal and worth the price.

If you like to eat home made style fried chicken and not your generic fast food chain chicken this spot is for you. Great chicken very juicy and full of flavor. The sides and pie were also good and I enjoyed them very much. A great place to go have lunch or dinner with your family if you're around any of the locations and the service was great too!

Our go-to and favorite chicken restaurant! If we lived closer, we would be here every week! The chicken is cooked to perfection, flavorful, and juicy, finger-licking good! The sides are delicious, my favorite is the baked beans! We love coming here, food is consistent and customer service is on point on all levels! Looking forward to coming back!

I've had Gus chicken several times and every time I have it, it taste exactly the same. The quality, consistency and service is always on point. Some of the best fried chicken in LA

Our server was what made this experience 10/10. The food was phenomenal but Carolina went above and beyond to make us feel like family. Nothings finer than being served by Carolina! Mac and cheese, beans, chicken and fries are so good. We will be back!

what the hell is it about Gus' Fried Chicken that makes me so happy?! the service is superb every time and the inside ambiance is a lot of happy folks enjoying their chicken and a lot of food comas after. The flavor is ALWAYS there and lots of love. I like putting hot sauce and ranch for my chicken, and the breasts are always juicy. Love the Mac and cheese and coleslaw to cool me down. crunchy and sweet. Parking not so good and kind of tight and street parking is also limited due to apartments nearby, but the food wins me over. Price is so-so not bad.

My daughter's favorite, three wings with double french fries.

Still love Guss's. Love their collard greens, cole slaw and french fries. Their fried chicken is the best!! perfectly seasoned and fried. This place is a staple for me and my kids.

Gus's is just really good fried chicken, plain and simple--you take one bite and immediately get why people come here. The chicken is super juicy and the skin actually crackles when you bite into it. Light, crispy, not greasy, with just a slight spice that builds as you go. Sides were legit. Mac and cheese is real cheese (and a lot of it), creamy without being too heavy. The collard greens were probably my favorite--cooked down in meat juices with that deep, savory flavor. Fried okra disappeared fast. The fried green tomatoes had a thicker batter, but it was well-seasoned so it worked. Dessert turned into a debate. Half of us liked the original chess pie--more classic, custardy, a little nostalgic. The other half went for the chocolate, which was basically a fudgy, chewy version. Both worth it. Also--one server for the whole place, and she was moving. Orders remembered, everything timed right, nothing missed. No frills, just really good Southern food.

Yes, the red powder on top is paprika.

It is still a little spicy as it's the same chicken on the regular menu.

Is this similar to Nashville Hot Chicken?

They do serve bread-less, plain chicken strips and have sides that are likely gluten-free (baked beans, coleslaw..)

Like genuinely one of the best horchata I've ever had, it was super creamy and flavorful but not overly sweet. I tried one of their desserts being their banana and Nutella empanada along with other savory empanadas. Everything was amazing. The Nutella + banana one was definitely a standout for me because they did not hold back at all. It was packed with chocolate and banana in every bite, which I loved because I'm a huge chocolate person. It didn't feel skimpy or dry at all, just super rich and satisfying! For the savory options, I tried the chile con carne, Santa Fe chicken, the breakfast, and the beef & potato. Every single one was delicious, seriously you cannot go wrong with any of them. BUT my favorite was for sure the Santa Fe chicken!! It had so much flavor and tasted really well-seasoned. You can tell everything is made with care. Their green chimichurri needs its own praise. I've tried a fair amount of chimichurris from different restaurants and grocery stores, but this one!!! This one is done perfectly. I can't describe the flavor to you, you just have to try it haha. It goes so well with any of the empanadas! Also, the empanadas came out HOT. Like actually steaming when I opened them, which made them that more enjoyable. Everything tasted really fresh. On top of that, the service was so sweet. The girls working there were really kind and welcoming, which just made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back because I'm already craving that horchata and Nutella banana empanada again!! Thank you so much for having me :)

It's not your typical plain rice--it tastes like jasmine rice, and when you combine it with their sauce, mac & cheese, tenders, coleslaw, and pickles, it all just works really well together. The sandwich is also really good. The bread is soft, so it's easy to eat and doesn't feel heavy. I've ordered the Hangry Fix and the Classics 3 both times, tried mild, and medium. I think I'll stick with mild definitely has a kick. Compared to Dave's, I'd say their medium feels closer to a "hot" level. Their sauce is another highlight--way better than Raising Cane's in my opinion, and a bit closer to Dave's style but still its own thing. Price-wise, it's not bad at all, especially compared to Howlin' Ray's. I don't get to have this often since I only go when I'm in Los Angeles, but it's definitely a must every time I'm there. Give it a try.
