La Tierra Taco of the Month
    Christina D.

I just got takeout, but service was fast and super friendly. I'm always a little surprised by how intense the flavor is with these tacos, but the porkbelly kimchi taco of the month was amazing, and while I didn't love the La Tierra, all of the ingredients were perfectly well cooked and good separately. It just wasn't my thing. Shoutout to having an option for a literal side of bacon - I don't like cooking that at home and my diner has been on vacation, so being able to grab that along with my tacos was really helpful for the craving this week.

Andrea was awesome!!! Made us feel like family as soon as we walked in and our server was wonderful as well!!! She even got us a huge water bowl for the dogs!!!

Barria was "fine." They were severely understaffed (which we thought was odd for "move in weekend" at OSU. The kitchen was extremely slow too. I did feel badly for our server because she had 10 tables AND was the bartender. The tacos were "ok." VERY saucy in both the custom and "special" options. Margaritas were also "ok." Overall 3 stars as it was "meh."

Yummy, yummy, yummy, I got tacos in my tummy! Barrio is known for its tacos, tequilas, & whiskey. This location is on the corner of 5th & Grandview Avenues. There is limited off-street parking in the lot with additional street parking on the side streets. Even though it has been here a couple of years this was my first visit. I remember this building as the old Winking Lizard, and before that Hoggy's. It is great to see such an awesome restaurant here. Service was great (I think our server's name was Amelia). We started with chips and salsa and added the Queso Blanco (house queso). I personally was not a fan of the salsa as it had a bbq taste and not a tomato. My partner thought the same thing as well. For dinner I had one of each of these tacos: El Jefe Loco (flour+corn hard shell+chorizo+queso, spice rubbed chicken, fresco, smoked cheddar, pico de gallo, corn salsa, chipotle honey bbq, salsa roja). El Gringo (flour shell, chili-spiced ground sirloin, smoked cheddar, lettuce, pico de gallo, chipotle crema). And a build-your-own (corn soft shell, pulled pork cilantro-lime rice, caramelized onions + poblanos, pico de gallo, mango habanero). My partner enjoyed the El Pastor Bowl (pulled pork, cauliflower rice, pineapple salsa, cilantro+onions, mango habanero, dirty sauce). He loved the pulled pork and enjoyed the kick that the dish had from the mango habanero salsa. It was a great dinner and liked the build-your-own options.

Definitely a new stop on our Columbus Taco Tour! Loved artistic decor throughout interior and the cool patio @ the 5th Avenue location. Parking is super easy. On the corner near the soon to arrive Hot Chicken Takeover on 5th. Their service and friendly staff were the highlight of it all. Amelia G helped us order a few favorites (Margaritas/Grouper/La Tierra) and navigate wrong place wrong time scenario! (`Will have to try university location next) . Margaritas are a must! A must have after a long day at the office!!! Flavored or not - your choice. We did house and they were perfect for our quick stop. After enjoying their fresh salsa or queso where chips were hot and tasty, You can choose Chef's favorite tacos or build your own. I had to try BOTH! Picked chefs favorite La Tierra and what a pick. So good! Marinated (in Coca-Cola) steak in a doubled soft+hard+flour+corn+wrapped taco w onions poblanos and portabellas. Had a great spicy secret sauce too. As for build your own they had 15 proteins to choose from ! Today they offered grouper and considering Amelia said that was her favorite- so had to try it. BAM! It was small but amazing. Should have had a few more. 3 cheese options and 11 sauces. You can definitely customize one to make your favorite. Appreciate the chance to try Barrio and for their great staff. Looking forward to going back and trying a different margarita and another 2-3 tacos. So many options! Thanks all and if you haven't been here.... Give it a try.

I went to barrio tonight for happy hour. I got the regular marg with salt. And I got the chicken taco create your own. And the shrimp taco. I loved all the toppings I could put on it and all the different sauces! Service was slower that was the only thing that could've been better.

Another great taco place giving Condado's a run for their money! Instead of getting tacos like normal, I opted for a bowl this time. It was delicious and the perfect size! The rice was so good. Perhaps I focus so heavily on the rice because I'm a carb lover, but it can really make or break a bowl! I'm happy to report that they did an excellent job with it. I also really liked the salsa that came with the chips. It had a hint of sweetness and was thicker than salsa I usually get at other restaurants. My dad liked it so much that he asked for a small container of salsa to take home, which they provided for free! Woo! The interior of the restaurant is cool. Tons of skeleton decor. It gave me Day of the Dead vibes. I'd recommend this place for dinner with a group of friends!

Margarita flight- Watermelon, blackberry and white peach
    Miracle R.

Reasonable pricing and decent customer service. However food wasn't good so I wouldn't recommend. Ordered a margarita flight- watermelon, white peach and BlackBerry. Tasted like good juice, tequila seemed nonexistent. Ordered the Buffalo chicken queso. No chicken, swig of hot sauce on top and lots of blue cheese. I doubt chips are homemade taste like they came out of a bag. Decided against ordering more food and went elsewhere for dinner. I'd recommend condado any day, better quality food.

I was immediately intrigued by the Coca-Cola marinated beef that they use. So for Taco Tuesday we hit up Barrio's. We were able to get in and get seated fairly quickly. The waitress brought out fresh chips and allowed us to fill out Create Your Own taco slips. She came back and asked if we wanted Queso for our chips, to which my wife replied yes. The chips were seasoned right and fresh. I am not a huge queso fan but I tried it and it was not bad. I ordered two Coke marinated tacos with cheese, pineapple salsa, lettuce, and corn salsa. I also ordered one pulled pork bombshell style (soft shell and hard shell taco with bacon bits) taco. The tacos came out pretty quickly. The Coke tacos were so flavorful and packed with pineapples. They will definitely be my go-to when I return. The pulled pork taco wasn't bad, just not very memorable. My wife was highly impressed with the Mahi Mahi taco she constructed. The only disappointing thing that occurred was when we got the bill, we realized that the queso was $8, had we known this we would've skipped it. The wild thing was that they had special queso advertised that came with jerk chicken and some sort of salsa for $8 as well, so we were shocked when our plain queso was the same amount. But we know better next time. Coke Taco 1-5=4.5. Pulled Pork Taco 1-5=3. Chips 1-5=4.5. Customer Service 1-5=4.

I came here for happy hour, 1/2 off margs and $1 off tacos until 6PM. There is parking on site, and if it fills up, you can parallel park down the road. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available, and it wasn't too busy at happy hour on a Thursday. We usually call ahead before eating out, but didn't need to here. This is almost an exact copy of Condado, each item is just a little bit different. For example, the guacamole and salsa are more mild at Barrio, the cheeses are a little different, etc. To order, each person fills out a sheet of paper with either pre-selected tacos or build your own. I suggest the El Jefe Loco for pre-selected, and the braised short rib for a build your own.

Which came first--Barrio or Condado? It's literally the same concept to me after my first visit here on Sunday for brunch. I was very excited to check this place out--but TBH it seemed like a generic, knock off of Condado. What was spot on: The free chips and salsa. They're free so that makes them automatically good, right? And the salsa was very flavorful with the right amount of spice. The chips were also freshly made and had good crunch. The Bloody Maria cocktail. Again, like the salsa, it hit all the right flavors for me and had a long, thick@ss strip of candied bacon as a garnish. So yummy! And that's the correct way to garnish a brunch Bloody. Menu prices were good--only $5 for my avocado tostada in a basket. What was off: I asked for a Tanqueray & Tonic and not only did they not have that brand--they had no gin at all. The avocado tostada was a generous portion but the corn kernel topping tasted straight from a can. There was nothing unique or tasty about this and when it arrived it was only slightly warmed. The cheese wasn't melty and I had to dig a bit to find the guacamole--for being it's namesake there was not much slathered on the fried tortilla. Since it's a hike to Grandview and they don't offer lunch service at this time, not sure I'll be back any time soon. Especially when there are very similar, tastier "pencil & paper taco creation" joints in my 'hood.

The 3rd Taco Never Made It!! Order: Pitcher of White Peach; 1 Birria, 1 Latierra, 1 El Jefe Loco w/ cilantro Rice & Blk Beans; order of 3 dips (guac, pico, & Chorizo queso) Pros: The white peach Margarita was really good! The 3 dips were decent cant complain. Cons: the Brierra Shell was chewy and unenjoyable. The El Jefe Loco was cold! Meaning the meat was prepared cold. I do not want a cold taco. The beans hand an interesting flavor. Also, my 1 Birria taco & 3 sauces never made it to my plate. It wasnt a pleasant eating experience. Service was mediocre. Chips weren't fresh. Also, they charged $5 for a side of salsa verde and $12 (x2) for a side of pineapple salsa. The waitress said we could have as much of these items as we wanted, which we thought came as small salsa for the taco. There's no price on the menu for taco salsa. Misleading and misinformation was provided. Overall, it wasnt a really good Taco experience and its Tacooooo Tuesday (sniff sniff)!

I went to barrio to grab take out and the folks there were really kind. I lost my money(temporarily )that I was planning to pay with which made me about $1.50 short. The lady at the desk offered to pay the rest. She actually did pay for the rest while I ran to the car to find the money that I had misplaced. I cane back and paid the rest. So kind and patient. My tacos were pretty tasty! I got 1 build your own steak and 1 build your own chicken taco. They followed my request well and my tacos were so good. Due to the first situation, I didn't check my order before I left. They accidentally forgot my small queso. I called them about it and once again, everyone was kind and it was no hassle to reach a resolution. They are practicing social distance. I'd encourage folks to give them a shot! The food and folks are pretty good. P.s there is plenty of parking at the location which is a plus!

Cold and crumbly soft corn tortillas and big chunks of fat in the shredded beef. Sadly, the worst tacos I've ever had :(

I'm glad I stopped here--despite being a "chain," it exceeded expectations. Service was impressively quick. I started with the "Hot & Juicy" cocktail--excellent--and ended up ordering a second after dinner. The salsa roja had a nice kick and came with plenty of chips (easily enough for two). I made the rookie mistake of ordering two tacos--they're huge. One would have been plenty. The "Swipe Right" was the standout; the "Gangsta" was good, though the beef could've been cut into smaller, more manageable pieces. Overall, a very solid meal. Total with tip: about $70.
