We're out in Ybor and decided to stop at Barrio. The ambience of the location is really dark. Not much changed from it being the previous locations of other restaurants, but it definitely needs more natural light. It's like eating in a dungeon. The tacos there was a lot going on on the menu and I'm sure this is a niche, but it is not a niche. I am on board with any taco that had ground beef was kind of disgusting the other tacos. You could've made them at home and probably made them better if you're looking for authenticity this is not the place. Service the service was not much to write home about nothing was stellar, but nothing was bad. With all things being equal, this is not a place that I would naturally recommend somebody likes it but it's probably the same people that eat Tijuana flat.

I visited here yesterday with friends for brunch. The place looked very cool, i loved the wall art. Servers were awesome too. The food was subpar. Margarita flight was ok. First of all, it was room temperature when served and I couldn't taste any alcohol. For food, i had the made to order taco. I picked the ingredients that packed a punch but sadly the taco lacked spice. I've had better tacos at bodegas. Overall, i expected more.

What a unique taco menu! I'm so glad we stopped in here to check it out! Nick was our bartender and explained how it all works! We had the basic queso with our chips & salsa, it was all delicious! I tried the chicken caesar taco special, fantastic! My boyfriend had a taco that was like a big mac (I can't remember the name) and loved it! It's very pretty inside and the walls are painted beautifully! Highly recommend!

I think this place is garbage, literally you can get better food at chipotle. The inside and outside areas are cute, but the food and drinks are terrible. Skinny margaritas is watered down with no taste. The steak tastes like teriyaki chicken, it was almost inedible. Service was slow, I had to go inside to get the check from server after 20 minutes with no service. Don't come here and go to a different restaurant is YBOR.

Came here for lunch with 6 people. The menu is super confusing. It would take less time to just make regular ordering vs asking waitress to explain many times how to put an order on a paper. Instead of talking to friends, we had to try to fill out some papers. Ridiculous system. Very inefficient. Drinks were absolutely terrible! Couple of us had to send them back. Ambience is pretty chill, nothing special. But relatively clean and organized. Waitress was friendly and attentive. She still has to take orders for drinks, so not sure why can't she just take the whole order. Salsa was terrible, guacamole was old, brown and tasteless. Tacos that I ordered: one shrimp, one fish and one imitation steak were pretty terrible. Fish was super mushy and had no flavor, shrimp was ok, imitation meat was not edible. Really bad place, I never want to come back. Low quality, expensive, and confusing menu.

The young lady at the front desk of our hotel recommended Barrio if we wanted great tacos. It was walking distance from where we were staying so we took her advice and gave it a try. Well, she was right! Service was great; friendly, attentive, and quick with water refills. They have some pretty unique tacos on the menu and you can build your own with basically all sorts of toppings and combinations. I got the codfather and I made my own taco with jalapeno lime shrimp. Both were fantastic and huge (see photos for reference). I was worried 2 tacos wouldn't be fulfilling for me but I was wrong. Both were flavorful and packed. Overall, a great spot for tacos if you're in the area!

It is a great place for the day of the dead. This is because the wall paintings has all of that story. The bar is popular during late evening. They do have sport bar with big tv setup. We got three tacos and sharwarma pita. The three tacos we have are the codgather, La Tierra, and French dip. The French dip is interesting taco with ribeye steak dip in the meaty sauce. The pita we got is the chicken bacon ranch. I think this is ok. Overall I think they are a bit oily but the size and quantity is good. Service is good.

I was a huge fan of the Barrio in Orlando, and I was so sad when it closed. When looking at restaurants close to Raymond James Stadium, I saw Barrio and got so excited! We parked in the lot behind the restaurant and were able to get one hour of parking for free. Our server warned us that the kitchen was a little backed up, so there would be a longer wait than normal, but our food still came out pretty quickly. We started our meal with the Spicy Garlic Queso, which was really garlicky but not spicy at all. I really like their chips. For my main, I got a rice bowl with black beans, queso fresco, caramelized onions and poblanos, lettuce, pico de gallo, pineapple salsa, corn salsa, and avocado ranch. I also got a side of the mango habanero sauce. The rice in my bowl was all clumped together and a little overcooked, so I ended up not eating most of it. The rest of the bowl toppings were pretty good, and the bowl was a great portion. The prices are very fair, and I like that they are open late. The tacos here are really good, so I would probably order those instead of a bowl next time.

Barrio is quite the gem in Ybor. This unique dine-in taco restaurant and full bar offers thicc tacos and delish cocktails for brunch, lunch, dinner and late night cravings. Great service and chill vibes. Corn tortillas for the gluten-free ones. No need to settle for mid tacos downtown, Barrio is a short walk from trolley stops and a parking lot.

If this was closer to where I live (as I am out of town) this would be THE Taco spot as well as place for happy hour! Uncomfortable seating. It's not a cozy place. Some booths and/or more comfy chairs would be nice. Tables are sprawled out in weird places. Weird menu. A menu with food pics would be nice. You fill out the menu and do all the work urself and then tip the server for just dropping it off. Margaritas were good, tho. The art is cool. They could make this place so much more cozy and inviting. read more

As someone from the Cleveland area I am a huge fan of Barrio and am so happy that they finally opened one in Tampa! I got my regular taco order that I have gotten for years back in Ohio and it was honestly better than some of the other locations. Good food, decent prices, and Great Non-Alcoholic selections! I love that you can order off the menu or create your own dishes. The portions are large! The chips and salsa were just ok. I know this may sound silly, but I was so impressed with the non-alcoholic drink selection. They had actual, delicious mocktails at a reasonable price (~$5)! I am sick of paying cocktail prices when no alcohol is used. This alone has made me want to go back. It shows that they have delicious ingredients and they don't need to gauge their customers. read more

Absolutely Never Again I don't normally leave reviews, but after my experience at Barrio Tacos, I feel obligated to warn others. The queso was practically water--no flavor, no texture, just a sad, soupy mess. The tacos? Completely flavorless. It was like someone assembled them without ever tasting food before. But the real nightmare started after the meal. Within an hour, I was stuck in a bathroom for 30 minutes, questioning every life decision that led me there. I thought the worst had passed--wrong. I didn't even make it to my next stop without having to pull over and run to another restroom. Absolutely embarrassing and miserable. This was not a dining experience--it was a full-blown gastrointestinal horror story. I will never eat here again, and I suggest you don't either unless you have a strong stomach and a detailed map of public restrooms. read more

Greetings friends.... First off let's establish where you can find good Mexican food... Mexico... New Mexico... Arizona... California... Surprisingly, Texas has terrible Mexican food and Florida is Texas' little big brother across the board, minus cowboying!!! Cost: $25, for a fountain drink and two of the fusion style daily special tacos... I chose crab and beef... with side of rice and beans!!! As I waited for my taste test, I reflected on the theme of Dios De La Muertas and the pleasantries between patrons and staff... I saw people chatting and munching, with no clear signs of culinary failures... I was excited!!! And then... boom... here it comes... looks great... the waitress smiles and has a twinkle in her eye like she knows I'm gonna love this.... I grabbed the crab taco, cold to the touch, literally it felt like somebody grabbed a tort outta da bag of torts sitting next to the salad bar and scooped a spoonful of crab meat and veggies and drizzled with sauce... strangely enough the inside was warm... I felt my whole being flinch the other taco was exactly the same, except with an adaptation from Taco Bell with a double decker stack up... meaning hard shell on the inside of a cold soft tort with everything else sleeping inside of a double layered sleeping bag... I only took one bite of each taco... My taste buds wouldn't register the taste because my brain was busy transferring heat energy to my hands to try and warm my tortilla... COLD TORTILLAS!!! What style is that? Serious fail... I can't think of a single situation or scenario that dictates the use of a cold tort... it's a slap in the face to anyone who seeks out adventurous food choices or loves and craves Mexican food Actually, I do know one scenario where it is acceptable to use a cold tort... when you are heating one up!!! You gotta start somewhere, right?! read more

Have this place another try after the first experience was not it. The first time we were there it was the waitresses fault for not elaborating on how the restaurant works. Loved this place! In Tampa for a quick visit and rolled the dice on this one. It didn't disappoint. Bartender was friendly and helpful. Explained the ordering system. Talked us through the taco size and flavor options. Tacos are large and come out quick. Order 1 and see if you want more. 2 tacos each with no apps and we were full! It comes out in like 3 min. Drinks were good. Food was delicious. Had the Bug Mac Taco and the Chicken Ranch. So gooood. My mouth is watering thinking of it again. Def try this one. read more

Usually I don't leave reviews but i genuinely have never had a worse restaurant experience. We were one of few tables in the restaurant and our food and service was lacking, our server was more concerned with talking to his coworkers than actually delivering us decent service. The food arrived and my tacos had cold and soggy tortillas, and all of the food tasted as if it was re-heated mere seconds before. The restaurants interior was decked out with day of the dead esk decor appearing to be somewhat authentic Mexican food, while the food was a step below Taco Bell quality. I have no issue with non-authentic Hispanic food but I do have a problem with profiting off of Hispanic culture. Definitely would not go back. read more

i want to start off by saying how good of a value barrio is! if you're thinking that this is another overpriced taco spot think again. for about $10 i got two huuuuge tacos that are made with TWO soft corn tortillas. the happy hour starts at 3 and the margaritas were only $5 and absolutely delicious. every single thing that i've ordered from barrio is absolutely delicious; i've yet to not be impressed by them. (their cilantro pesto sauce took the show in my opinion) (the decor is also super cute!!!) this has been my second time coming to barrio and definitely will not be my last. apart from the top notch food and drinks barrio offers, the service keeps me coming back. the bartender and support staff were very quick, and welcoming. although i usually find myself overwhelmed with choice they were very patient and knowledgeable on the menu. read more

The food is not authentic Hispanic food. You have to fill out your own order sheet, which is weird in so many ways the service by my waitress was absolutely horrible, but the owner was extremely nice and explained everything but I having to fill out a sheet for your own order and then expecting someone to tip you is actually a bit ridiculous. And of course, our table was cluttered with excess drinks that wasn't cleared. Yeah I don't think I'll ever go back here. read more

Our office is across the street in Ybor City. My business partner and I on occasion will visit Barrio for lunch. The mood is rather somber as it's lunch time- the staff are always super friendly too. This is a build your own meal type of concept and it may not work for others. I am not a huge fan of the concept myself but I go with it. I think with any Mexican style restaurant that offers chips- you can certainly fill up on them with salsa and queso before the meal- so ya have to be careful. We were no different- the salsa and queso is really good and they just keep bringing the chips! We both built our own bowls so there isn't much to point too as far as a featured dish- because well, we made our own concoctions. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are tasty and the sauces are really good- you can get hot hot hot if that's what you want and they ain't kidding! Lolol. The food is good, but if build your own is not your jam- there are specialities and other dishes on the menu. Overall a good experience and great place for lunch eats! read more

The good reviews here must be fake because i literally had the worst tacos here, couldn't even finish them, i never leave a review and especially a bad one but this place definitely does not deserve the 4.3 rating it currently has. I went with a group of 8 and no one liked what they had, i feel like that should tell you something. The complimentary chips and salsa were good, and margaritas were decent. read more

Me and a couple friends wanted to try something new and I saw this restaurant on someone's page and said why not. So glad I did. The service here was phenomenal. The food was great. You were able to build your own taco and they have mucho choices. They also have tacos you can choose from that are on the menu u that have fixed items. $5 house tequilas and they didn't taste like sour mix and ice cubes. Highly recommend!!! read more
