    Empanadas

Sadly disappointed, I was very excited to try this restaurant, I've been past it so many times. I was greeted warmly and brought to my table swiftly, my waitress was very kinds but even though I was one of three tables it I didn't feel very attended to. I've never had an Empanada before so I again was exited to try this new treat! I don't know if they even drained them before llacing them in the plate. When I received them, no joke, they were in a puddle of grease, I wasn't sure at first and thought that's just how they were supposed to be but after taking a few bites I felt sick, the grease flavor over powered the rich meat and flavor of the potato inside the pocket. Like I said, maybe there was a mistake or it was a bad day in the kitchen, but I don't think I'll be coming back.

They have a wide selection of arepas and other items to choose from. They offer cocktails by the glass or pitcher and have a nice selection of local beers on tap. The servers are friendly. This is a solid lunch or dinner option in Crocker Park.

Cute spot. Very colorfully decorated. We stopped in for a light appetizer. Nice place to hang out with friends. We sat by the fireplace.

It was an excellent dining experience - from the service and food, which made it an enjoyable dining experience for myself and family.

So, I was in Westlake, Ohio, and I was looking for a good place to eat. I asked my hotel front desk clerk about restaurants in the local area. She told me about Barroco's. It is a locally owned restaurant that serves Colombian food. Awesome! I decided to try it. I haven't had South American food in a while so I was very interested. The food was amazing. The ambience of the restaurant is very small and cozy. It has both inside and outside seating. Their menu has a great selection from appetizers, to entrées, to desserts. My waiter was extremely nice, very knowledgeable and I think he was the owner personally. If you have any questions about the food, they will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. The food was hot and fresh. At first, I was taken aback, thinking that it was a small portion of food. I am a big guy and I like to eat. Man, was I wrong? The arepa was more than filling. It was very deceptive, in a good way. If you're looking for good South American food, I recommend Barroco.

I've been frequenting Barroco pretty frequently for the last 3 years or so at the Lakewood location. While I was at Crocker, I decided to try this location! I was not disappointed. I had a passion fruit mojito, bandeja paisa, and Maduros con queso. They say everything with bacon tastes better, but I never thought sweet plantains with bacon would taste so damn good! Our waitress was so sweet and had great recommendations, I wish I was able to remember her name. However, taking away 1 star from my review only because this location had no idea how to process a digital gift card I got for Christmas for this location! We waited 25 minutes while two different staff members had to figure out how to process it. Hoping they remember for next time! :)

Sancocho! (Stew w yuca chicken corn)

Food/ drinks 5/5 had a craving for sancocho and was pleasantly surprised to find it on Barrocos menu!! definitely hit the spot on a chilly fall September night. had a few bites of the bandeja paisa which was a huge portion and for sure a meat lovers dream. also had a caipirinha to sip on which I was also surprised to see on their menu! definitely made on the stronger side which I appreciated. Service 4/5 Seated right away on a Friday night and we requested outdoor seating. However our food took eons to appear (as with the other tables around us). There were plenty of patio heaters with adjustable levels which made it cozy enough! Also string lights in Crocker park added a nice ambiance. Our server was courteous and wearing a mask the entire time. Value 4/5 Super filling dinner and very satisfied. seemed a bit pricey to me given that I'm used to these dishes being in the 10-15 range in Miami.

This was another great recommendation we got while quarantining in Cleveland. Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They do curbside pickup. They were wearing masks and gloves. Our food was brought out the second I called and said we were there. A+ from me. We got the Mexicana Arepa and Steak Maduro. The arepa was the best arepa I've had. Sometimes arepas can be dry, but this one was not dry at all and it was so flavorful. As much as I loved the arepa, the maduro was the star of the show. I've only had loaded maduros one other time and they're so good. These were perfectly caramelized and very ripe so they weren't a hard texture. The plantains had great flavor, the steak was incredibly tender, the queso was absolutely delicious. Definitely order this dish. You get a side with the arepas and we got Yuca fries. We really enjoyed them. They were more of small wedges than fries, but I liked the smaller size. This might be my favorite meal of quarantine. Make sure to come here if you're in Cleveland.

I'm so glad we stopped by Barroco after visiting family in Toledo because their food is out of this world! My wife and I shared the Steak Maduro and the Mexicana Arepa. Both were excellent. And considering I'm not a fan of arepas, I was pleasantly surprised. Between the Arepa and the loaded Maduro, the Steak Maduro was the clear winner. The sweet plaintains were caramelized perfectly and complimented the tender and juicy steak it accompanied.

Let me start by saying it's one of my most frequently visited places in Crocker Park. Barroco has something for everyone and it's an exciting change of pace. The queso is a great appetizer and the dipping sides really tip it over the edge from good to great. I love their arepas! They are super filling!!

I'm absolutely in love with this restaurant!! I met a friend and we actually ate in today! Sunday brunch has its own menu plus you can also order from the regular menu. The service was wonderful our waiter explained the menu to us.. which im thankful for because i thought we were going to a Mexican restaurant... but their cuisine was unlike anything ive experienced before! 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up for the margaritas and picoladas!!! We both ordered an appetizer and shared.. it was alot of food but delicious!!! The main dish was amazing!! I can't wait to hoo back and try something new!!

Ok so we're checking out the barroco. Really enjoy the Lakewood version so BAM here they are at the nice looking kiosk looking restaurant in the middle of crocker that has housed a couple flops. I love the new decorations, Central American flair. Christmas Blvd set up outside I'm feeling good about myself and others. Hostess is beautiful, reminds me of my bff vero & her sisters. Ordered the special, nostalgic arepa. Has a burger on it, their original food truck first item. Bro got the Cuban bowl. Let's see how it goes! Ice bowl outside. 12:00 not many diners & the parking garage by dicks is empty. Glad they're open for lunch tho. Burger was good. Well done but juicy. Has the green sauce & the hot thousand island looking sauce crossed over it already. I never know whether to hand hold the arepa bc then it usually falls apart. This one was kinda crunchy, hard to cut through. Prob overdone but it has some softer stuff up top to eat. I don't know. I'll come back & try again they're bound to figure it out. Cuban bowl the bro liked it. The meat was really good he said. $32+. It's such a cool place, good luck guys. 3 stars gracias. Ps I'll never forget at the old place, walking by and there's an acoustic dude doing robert plant at ear splitting volume. YEAH YEA-AHHHH, YEA-AHHHH!!! I'm all ARE U HAPPY NOW CLARK she's deaf.

Bandeja Paisa, good but not very authentic, chicharrones weren't crispy, didn't like a flavor in the rice/egg, possibly the oil used?

The restaurant shares this beautifully restored landmark estate with an inn featuring ten unique suites on the upper floors, creating a destination that feels both elegant and intimate. The dining space is laid out across several rooms filled with antiques, floor-to-ceiling bookcases, and fireplaces. This layout not only adds to the sophisticated, fine-dining aesthetic but also helps significantly reduce noise, making for a much more intimate experience. The atmosphere is further elevated by the live music, which strikes the perfect volume to complement the mood without overpowering conversation. The menu, led by Executive Chef Jose Coronado, is interesting because it blends his Guatemalan heritage with Mediterranean, Asian, and Latin American influences. It doesn't feel forced, though; the dishes are creative but remain approachable. What stood out to me most was the kitchen's commitment to preparation. Everything is made from scratch on-site, including things you don't always think about--like their house-made ketchup and custom-pickled olives. They also source locally from Kirtland, Willoughby, and Mentor whenever possible, and the seafood and meats tasted noticeably fresh, not frozen. The staff is truly spectacular; you can tell they genuinely enjoy working here, and they were super attentive throughout our visit. One detail I appreciated is their no-tipping policy; they include a 20% service charge on every bill, which goes toward providing their staff with a living wage, health benefits, and paid time off. It makes for a stress-free experience at the end of the meal. The highlights from our meal: * Drinks:Velvet Island Old Fashioned, Enchanted Garden, and the Cherry Royal. * Small Plates:Lightly Cured Halibut, Smoked Royal Miyagi Oysters (the standout for me), Short Rib Croquettes, the seasonal Unagi Smoked Eel, and the house-made focaccia. * Entrées: Yakitori Surf & Turf and the Seared Alaskan Halibut. The setting is unique, and whether you're local or just passing through Northeast Ohio, this is definitely worth a visit if you appreciate scratch-made food, thoughtful hospitality, and a refined atmosphere. I'm looking forward to going back.

For appetizers, we shared Short Rib Croquettes (our absolute favorite dish of the night), Delicate Fried Eggplant, Roasted Rainbow Carrots and Crispy Broccoli (in peanut sauce). Main Courses, my wife and I split Alaskan Halibut and our daughter had Butternut Squash Raviolli. We finish the night off with Lemon Tart and Chocolate Mascarpone Mouse. I reached out to the place ahead of time because I saw on their website. They have a VIP section that you can reserve ahead of time for 100 bucks so I did that. Chris, the manager, was super helpful via text Message in helping me plan the evening. Their drinks were reasonable and the space was perfect for listening to this band. Food wise it's a challenge. The bar doesn't have a kitchen, rather they rely on sweet basil to deliver food next-door. Sweet basil has wonderful pizza and food however, on a Saturday night they closed at 8 PM. That's not the bar's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you plan on going to eat there.

However, they had packed so many people into this bar that we could barely enter the door. Moving from one side of the bar to the other, we had to weave in and out, shoulder to shoulder, and could barely move. I would have liked to have stayed, but there was no way I was going to enjoy myself being that packed in. I fully believe that the bar was at full capacity or possibly over which isn't safe. They do have a large parking lot, but it was over full as well. I would give this place another try, on a different night. The crowd was mainly people in their 50s and 60s, but that was probably because of the type of band that was playing that night. I didn't get a drink, because I couldn't even get to the bar.
