I took some out of town friends to Barros for lunch as we were shopping nearby and had a great experience. The pepperoni pizza was excellent, starting with a crust that had just the right texture and flavor. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the pepperoni was especially flavorful, adding a nice kick to every bite. The restaurant also has a pleasant ambiance with multiple television sets playing sports, making it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. This is the best Barro's location that I have tried, and it also happens to be the one closest to my home, which makes it very convenient for lunch or dinner. The staff there is very friendly and works hard to keep the line moving. If you go for an early lunch, know that they usually have their lunch rush on the early side. My favorite of their many fantastic lunch specials is the salad, slice of pizza, and drink. The price has gone up through the years, but is still around $7.50, which is a great deal. This location has the salad bar set up so that the staff makes your salad for you, which is much more sanitary than having it open for customers, in my opinion. Their pizza has a thicker crust. For those that like a thinner crust pizza, they can be ordered off the menu. My boyfriend likes to order a medium thin crust pepperoni pizza, which he can eat most of it in one sitting. I wanted to come and say how amazing Kassandra is- I didn't know what I wanted, I changed my order probably 5 times (even after I paid for it), denied her carry-out special at first but ended up asking for it at the end anyways, originally was going to do a split payment but instead did it all in full. I'm telling you it was crippling to be on my end because I truly was not meaning to be difficult. I absolutely love their pizza. Not only is the flavor of the sauce, toppings, & crust the way that you want your pizza to be, but more importantly they are consistent! (I mean, there's nothing worse than ordering from a place where sometimes it's baked hot & cheesy and other times dry, brown or burned.) We order carry-out from them quite often & I'm impressed that we can leave the house as soon as we hang up, and they always have our super hot pizza boxed and ready. Hey "hot" tip: We take a thermal bag, but I just noticed that Amazon has the real pizza delivery kind. I actually dine in almost as much. I used to love Barros, but the Scottsdale location did not meet my expectations. This is the second time I encountered poor customer service. On my last visit, there was one young lady managing the line while an older lady at the back watched it grow longer. When the older lady finally came to help, she seemed to have an attitude, as if she didn't want to be there. I wish management had just sent her home. It felt as though it was a bother for her to tell me which slices of the lunch special were still available. Rather than respond to her attitude, I politely turned around and left. Been coming to this location for a while and the service has been great and food was good. Over the past couple visits the staff has been very dismissive and rude. The first time I was standing at the counter for about 5 minutes while staff ignored me and never chatted while I waited to let them know they gave me the wrong order. This time today I walked in and was passed over and made to wait for the people to be checked out, mind you these people came in after me. I think the best part was both of the cashiers that were working the first time were there and again ignored me and didn't want to help me, greet me, or tell me it will be a minute. Just got back from picking up a pizza for takeout. This review is not about the food, as I enjoy Barro's pizzas and occasional wings. This is about the odor in the restaurant. Almost every time I'm there, it smells like they mopped the floor with dirty, used mop water. I think you know the smell I'm referring to. OK, since I almost always pick my food up to take home, not a huge deal. However, this evening when I picked up my pizza, since it wasn't quite ready I sat down at a table to wait. There was an OVERWHELMING stench of what can only be described as urine. Like you'd encounter in a New York subway. It was so bad, that had I hadn't already paid for my food I would have walked out. I didn't say anything to the employees as they were busy helping other customers. But it was really bad, there would have been no way I would have been able to stay there to eat my food. It wasn't emanating from a customer as there wasn't one within 5 feet of me. Either the toilet was malfunctioning or someone relieved themselves on the floor. Where do I even begin with this review? We have been ordering from our favorite pizza joint, Barro's Pizza for years now at the same location. Sometimes we choose pickup but most of the time we opt for delivery. On Christmas Eve 12/24/2022, my family and I decided to order from our only favorite pizza joint and opted for delivery as we're getting exhausted prepping for Christmas Day dinner and whatnot. I hear a knock on the door and answer. Pizza is here yay!!! When I open the door, the delivery driver doesn't say hello or any greeting at all. The driver didn't even look me in the eyes. We have a wall by our front door and the delivery driver is facing the wall and when the driver hands me my food the driver just turns his/her waist to hand me my food but his/her head is looking down with a hat so it was hard to see anything thus I don't know if it was male/female. Anyways, I put my food down on the counter top to start feeding my family. I open up the box and I was absolutely shocked at what I saw. The pizza looked like it was dropped!! The box was dented from all angles and well the picture can speak for itself. My husband comes home maybe literally 3 minutes after the food was delivered from shopping at Safeway (same location as Barro's) and I show him what was just delivered. I am on the phone with a manager at this time explaining the situation. I told the manager that my husband was on his way. The manager asked if we had eaten any slices and I of course say no because it looked like it was dropped and slapped back in the box. Gross!! So the manager asks if we would like a repeat on the order and have it redelivered. Mind you, my husband is on the way to Barro's to show the manager what we just received. We respectfully declined the reorder as it just left a sour taste in our mouth with what just happened. Anyways, fast forward to NYE, 12/31/22 (telling you we LOVED Barro's) we order a pick up order. Everything was perfect and awesome. Went inside picked up my order with my husband and kids waiting in the SUV, the front cashier lady was amazing. Get home on NYE and it was delish! So now we fast forward to 01/14/23, we place a online order for delivery. As stated above we love Barro's so we decided to order again in hopes that we wouldn't get the same experience. My husband calls Barro's right after placing the online order to modify it really quickly. A lady answers the phone and places us on hold. A few seconds later a man comes on the phone states we will no longer do business with you and we are not going to be placing this order. Say what now!! We were blown away by that. We asked why and what's up with that and it was just stated that they will no longer accept us as customers, his answer was extremely vague which led us scratching our heads. So keep in mind we ordered in NYE and everything was fine. They provided service to us without issues. So my husband states, Barro's messes up with our order on 12/24/22 by the pizza being dropped and we're the ones to be banned? The man on the other end doesn't say why we've been banned or anything. We even told the guy we had services on 12/31/22, he fell a little silent when my husband stated that to him. So what the heck happened between 12/31/22 and 1/14/23?? This is a pizza joint banning long time customers. Never heard of such a thing. We had already paid $83.30 for our order. The guys states he immediately canceled the order and we will be getting our refund. Guess what day it is now? It's Friday, 01/20/23 and do we have our monies back yet? NOPE!! I call and spoke with a guy name Kane on 1/19/23 inquiring about our refund. He states that it shows it was canceled on 1/14/23 and that it's a IT issue. Ummmm excuse me?! So he states that he has to email the IT guy for Barro's but I have to wait several days because they only have one IT specialist for all of Barro's. I asked if we could get cash back and he declined as we paid debit. Fine, didn't argue about that. Now I've had enough and finally decided to write this very lengthy review. I asked Kane why we were banned from ordering and he states that it was noted my husband spoke with a Barro's family member (family owned) on 12/24/22 and he decided that it would be best to not service us anymore even though they messed up!! What the heck?! I also state to Kane that we ordered pizza on NYE and if we were banned on 12/24/22 for Barro's unfortunate encounter, how is it we were able to order on NYE??? So Kane states I will receive a phone call from him within a couple of days as he has to wait for IT to look into why our refund has not arrived. This whole situation is very strange and bizarre. This is by far the worst costumer service we've ever received. Update: Just got off the phone with "Nick" at 2:43pm and he literally stated to me to call BOA and report this charge as fraud as they are not able to do anything at this point. Fast forward tonight, decided to give them a second chance because we were exhausted and lazy, and we've also had good luck with them prior to our last experience.
