Although Barry's is on the opposite side of town from where I live I finally decided I would go out of my way to come eat here on my quest to find a great Reuben in town. First thing I noticed when I walked in was all the delicious looking breads and desserts in the glass case for a very reasonable price and the slices are huge which makes it seem like a bargain. Ordered a half portion Reuben sandwich with matzo ball soup (1st time trying) both for under $10.00. Don't be fooled by the half sandwich thinking it will be small, because the thick cut rye bread is thick, toasted, and quite tasty with the perfect amount of seasonings and Caraway. Only thing I could find to complain about if i had to pick something is that they use 1000 island instead of a homemade Russian sauce but since this is common everywhere it's not really a deal breaker considering the overall sandwich quality. Soup was very good and since I had never had that kind before I had nothing to compare it too, but i'd say it had a taste similar to chicken noodle with one large matzo ball in the middle. Overall I was very satisfied with price, portions, and overall quality. I will definitely be coming back to try some of their Challah breads and desserts. Worth the time to come. read more

I just finished eating their pesto and ham challah sandwich that satisfied a hangover craving for something slightly sweet and tangy. The fluffy, tenderly sugary challah bread is a brilliant container for the other fresh ingredients inside (salty ham, scrambled eggs, melted cheese, tomatoes, pesto). After doing a campus tour this was a great spot to sit and eat. Turkey sandwich on challah was HUGE. Should've got the 1/2 with soup instead. But it was good. Bread was great. Magic bar at the end was AMAZING!!! Only complaint is its expensive. Spent 20 bucks on one sandwich, one 1/2 sandwich, 1 chip,2 drinks and one magic bar! Not sure college kids can afford to eat here. Service is always fast and personable, and I love the drink options. Pastries are always delicious and I've enjoyed a few sandwiches there but by far my favorite item is a latte with hazelnut or vanilla. And if I'm running late it's nice I can call ahead. read more

This is a very slow and non attentive bakery that had us wait for 40 min for a simple order that included 2 bagels with cream cheese. You would think it would take about 10-15 min for them to make this, however this was clearly not the case. We asked multiple times for an ETA and the response we got was snarky and uncalled for. There was about 5-6 people who ordered after us and got food with their order and were out way before us. Having respect for customers and working on orders in a timely manner goes a long way. I ordered a BLT which came which cream cheese in it; sounds strange but it tastes great! Sandwich was a bit heavy on mayo and I hate it when it oozes out. Bread was toasted perfectly and stood up to the ingredients inside. They were out of avocado and they made a half sandwich when it should have been a whole. However, that mistake was quickly remedied. Sandwiches are huge and I took the other half home. They had some delicious looking desserts, but alas; my sweet tooth seems to have diminished so I passed on them. read more

This was another gem we found while passing through town. A Jewish Deli with amazing food and service. I had the egg salad salad, which was delicious. My companion had the Reuben and potato salad and from what I tasted, they were awesome as well. Plus you can get your coffee fix. Would definitely come again if in Eugene. read more

I don't drink regular coffee, but I find their espresso to be the tastiest in town, with Novella's coming in second. If you like Starburnt's or the stuff at Allann Bros, you probably wouldn't agree. I like coffee-flavored coffee, so I can't comment on the blended drinks. This may be the only place in Eugene where you can get a knish, and how could I not love a deli that offers a quiche of the day? The counter staff are helpful, efficient, and friendly. More than once, I've visited just before closing and been offered stuff for free (YMMV). Their soups are inventive and hearty. Earlier this year I had a Hungarian mushroom soup that blew me away. It was so delicious that I ordered more to go and set about trying to duplicate it at home (the secret: smoked paprika). If you have a sweet tooth, beware. Everything I've sampled has been incredible and addictive. My fave: the coffee fingers, perfect for dunking. I know it's been said a few times, but it bears repeating: the breakfast sandwich is the bomb and can be ordered any time of day. You really can't go wrong combining egg with bacon and pesto, but throw 'em on a challah roll with perfect juicy tomato and I'm in heaven. The only downside is the lack of ambiance; this isn't a place you'll want to linger what with its fluorescent lighting and uncomfy seating. There's usually an older crowd sipping coffee and reading newspapers who doesn't seem to mind, but forget posting up for hours with your laptop if that's your M.O. But hey, it's a deli, and in that area, Barry's excels. If this place were as comfy as a hookah lounge, I might never leave, possibly because I'd be too big to fit through the door. Oh Barry's. You are so delightful. My personal weakness are the hamentaschen - they are probably my favorite cookie of all time. The cream cheese brownie ain't so bad either. The soups are fantastic, I love the vegan corn chowder and the Hungarian mushroom especially. Eaten a few breakfast sandwiches as a hangover remedy, for sure. The baristas are fabulous, always with a smile on their sweet faces. I like the Willamette location better, I feel like the service is better and there's way more seating. Campus is good because it's near my work but I feel like the service is sometimes brusque. I love Barry's. The staff is always super sweet and pleasant and the food is my favorite breakfast go-to. Not a huge variety in terms of food but the breakfast special is probably my favorite food ever so I wouldn't order anything else anyways. Get the espresso shakes also, they're great on a hot day. I was told how good Barry's was but just expected sandwiches so wasn't in a rush. In the last month Ive become a regular. I once went here just to get a slice of mousse cheesecake to satisfy a sweet tooth. Their cinnamon twists are so good but sell out fast.
