I love a good sandwich and Barry's makes GREAT sandwiches. I just moved to town and found Barry's on Yelp and I am SO glad that I did. My family and I loved the food and service so much that we came back two days in a row! They have tons of yummy pastries, delicious deli sandwich options, and a plethora of coffee and non-coffee drinks to choose from. They pack the sandwiches FULL of delicious veggies and the bread is excellent. Plus, the woman at the counter was so friendly and nice! She remembered us from the day before and also recommended a great tattoo artist for me! Barry's will definitely be my new go-to spot. read more

The coffee roast, is classically flavorful with a nice mellowness. The baked goods are always the best. The staff is friendly, but usually so busy that small talk is not possible. Went there for the first time today and loved it! Their coffee was good (not superb but still good) but their menu was unbelievable. Their selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches was impressive. I have been here before and really enjoyed my food but today was a bad day. I ordered a roll with cream cheese and it took them 30 plus minutes to call my name. A bag was sitting on the counter and I simply asked the employee who the name was on the order and she snapped at me and barked back "I don't know" then stormed away before another employee said "not you". I had Barry's Breakfast Special, Will went with lox and cream cheese on a challah roll and they'll both be the stuff of my fantasies for weeks to come. We also had a cinnamon roll labeled "world's best" in the case and I dare say that is 100% true. Barry's: The best Jewish deli I've ever eaten at. Admittedly, I'm not Jewish though I'm known to make the occasional matzo ball soup on the weekend, but seriously: Barry's is amazing. Significantly better than any of the East Coast Jewish deli's I've been to, though I don't think Barry's does smoked fish spreads that you usually see on the East Coast. - The matzo ball soup is perfect: Just the right tenderness to the matzoh ball and they've perfected the delicate blend of spices that SHOULD feature dill, at a good Jewish deli. - Bialy+egg salad. This is my favorite lunch sandwich in the entire city and probably state. Their bialy's (regular or onion) are freshly baked and their egg salad is flavorful and plentiful, as it should be. - Knishes, sandwiches on thick fresh challah bread, panini, they got it all. - The pastries: Barry's will satisfy your craving for all kinds of Jewish treats from fruity Hamantaschen to Rugelach (chocolate or sugary cinnamon walnut). - Italian sodas: Well mixed, not too bland or too sweet like at a lot of places. - CHEESECAKES !! !! (needs no explanation) I also recommend their white/dark chocolate chip low fat cookie. I find it hard to believe it's low fat, and it is certainly not low calorie, but it's the thought that counts! Barry's is my regular spot now. Close to where I live, good coffee, and I'm hooked on the tuna melt. I come here often because it's consistent, the staff are friendly and there is ALWAYS parking. I've sworn off a few places because of the lack of parking but this place is always convenient. Their dulce de leche cheesecake is TO DIE FOR. They usually play good music. When I was there The Band's Greatest Hits were on and I stayed and hung out for the whole album. =) read more

Decided to try this place for lunch based on the great reviews...definitely won't be back. Overall it was just mediocre with less than friendly service. Not unfriendly, but definitely not friendly or welcoming either. We ordered Chicken Salad Swiss on Sourdough that wasn't sour, but really thick and dry and Lemon Chicken Rice Soup. The sandwiches and the soup were really bland. The carrot cake was good but the icing to cake ratio was way off. You need two layers of icing for that much cake. Today was my first time at this location, and there are a lot of similarities to the on-campus Barry's: decent food, good coffee, extremely drafty location, and is in need of redecoration. There are some other pros to the south-of-town branch, such as free wi-fi, plentiful outlets, and friendly employees. I had a breve latte and a donut muffin, which I ordered mostly out of curiosity - it's basically a cake donut baked in a muffin pan, and then (I'm guessing) fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar. Not bad, and it wasn't as dry as other cake donuts can be. In all honesty, I would have rated this Barry's 4 stars, but during my time there, the woman making sandwiches would answer the phone, constantly push her bangs out of her face, and then handle the food, all without using gloves or washing/sanitizing her hands in between. She was touching her hair so much that I almost wanted to go over to her and hand her a bobby pin. I've heard rave reviews about their sandwiches, but I was so grossed out I'll probably never try one. It's a shame, she was nice, but I definitely value hygiene at the places I pay money to eat in. read more

So I ordered a challah sandwich and Italian soda, while my boyfriend got the BLT, the chocolate mousse cheesecake and a side of lemon chicken rice soup. Everything was ok (i thought the sand which came on a challah roll which was showcased but instead was a huge slice which I could have used less of) the BLT was ok despite a little heavy on the mayo. Everything was quite fine except when it came to the soup which was clearly an after thought. It was ice cold in some places and obviously microwaved and the so called "chicken" was overly briny and clearly from a can. I have never, ever had a bad experience at Barry's. And I go there a lot. My favorite is the breakfast special sandwich. It's a challah roll with egg, tomato, provolone, bacon, and pesto. It's so delicious it almost causes me to cry tears of joy. Today upon ordering one I happened to tell one of the employees that I loved the breakfast special so much that I almost missed a plane in order to get one before I left town. Her response was priceless: "Well, we love you too." Awwww! Everything here is good, but I especially recommend the aforementioned breakfast special, the cream cheese brownie, the toll house cookies (just like my grandma used to make) and the duck cookies. Yes, I'm a fan. Didn't know I was one until I found myself going there several times in one week. Great coffee, great espresso. Great soups, and excellent hand made deli sandwiches, made to order! Their rye bread is so darn yummy. PRICES: Great! You get a lot for the prices. COFFEE: Wonderful, and you get a stamp card to use if you want - 10th drink is free. DELI: Lots of pastry, huge pieces of everything. Favorite one? WALNUT COFFEE CAKE. Addicting. Not too sweet and light. But they only make it every other day. That's not exactly fair, so hence the 4 stars only. Yeah, that's how good it is. Only make it couple times a week? You lose a star, Barry. SANDWICHES: Made to order, loaded with anything you want, fantastic bread! They even make incredible yummy breakfast sandwiches. So many choices to choose from which all sounded amazing but decided on getting half of a roast beef melt and a cup of Hungarian mushroom soup....and OMG I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Use to go here all the time and it hasn't changed. When I think of Barry's I think of NY (jewish?)style deli just so happens it's in Eugene of all places. Still place to go for fresh baked goods and coffee. Fav is whatever they have on special that day as it's all pretty good. Corn chowder was da bomb. Also, they make fresh challah bread which can be used for their sandwiches. Cup of soup and 1/2 sandwich is way to go. Oh don't forget the desserts and rolls....especially carrot cake which is moist and yummy. Only minus is espresso is on weak side, especially white mochas being too sweet. Definitely have to add an extra shot. Do love the brand they carry, which is Torrefazione, maybe not the right blend to use for espresso as you can hardly taste the coffee. read more
