The. Corn. It's like the Mexican corn in California except no mayo. I'm in love! I also enjoyed the fresh ceviche. The quesadillas could have been more generous with ingredients and in size. My friend brought her own chips & queso from another place because they have no cheese dip here. Although not very formal all the staff and onlookers seemed to agree: "what's a Mexican restaurant without cheese dip?" We also got churros and vanilla flavored gelato to top off our dinner. In my opinion they should ditch the chocolate sauce and serve it with strawberries and ice cream for more sweetness, but it was still pretty good. Great spot for catching up with the ladies! Friendly coastal vibe, fun cocktails, and fresh ingredients. All the food is served family style for easy sharing. What I enjoyed: Port Chester Reviver (Miller's gin, cucumber, mint, mango nectar and lime juice), Romaine Wedge (Romaine hearts, radish, pepita seeds and a creamy lime dressing), Wild Boar Taco, a Mushroom Mole Tamale, house-made Roja Hot Sauce and Jalapeno Hot Sauce. What I would change: Bigger tacos and more roast on the Cauliflower Taco. Overall, my meal was amazing and the service was excellent. We were in the area to meet someone for coffee and dropped by for dinner. Overally it was a wonderful experience that we enjoyed. Food: Food was absolutely delicious. The oyster taco and the duck taco were fantastic. We also ordered the baja fish which was wonderful too. Flavorful and perfectly cooked. They accidently added an extra taco for us and didn't charge us anything for their mistake. So we got to try and extra flavor. It turned out to be the sesame ribeye, which I wasn't a huge fan us because I found it too salty but since it was an extra, I didn't mind too much. Service: And the service was prompt and friendly as well. Upon sitting down, a server came and explained how to order. They have these signs and this form where you mark down what you want and stick it on this clip. If you need a server, there's a sign you can put on the clip as well. We didn't have one at our table, but our server noticed immediately and got us one. Even with a seemingly complicated system, service wasn't slow and it was attentive. Our waiter came and checked in with us even without the sign up (makes you wonder why they have this complicated sign system, but it must work for them). Finally the ambiance was great. The decor was beautiful and unique. We really enjoyed it. We heard that they're expanding into other locations. Hopefully we get one near us! read more

Great curb appeal with a cute outside area. Great interior decor very classy but still casual. Waiter was awesome very friendly and knowledgable. Ordered the tray to share and it had an awesome selection of tacos and sides. Mojitos were great! Nice amount of alcohol but still able to taste the essence of flavors. Love this place - Mario took awesome care of us at the bar even making me a drink without added sugar! Love the tacos with lettuce instead of tortillas -- so yummy! Baja fish was amazing as well as the duck and the tuna tatako was tasty! Kitchen messed up our order but Mario and Dan were exceptional and remedied the situation. The plantains were amazing and caramelized to perfection. Came in on a Friday night with a group of 6. Very busy. Had to wait probably an hour. No big deal. we waited outside and a server came by and asked us if we wanted anything to drink while we waited. 5 stars goes to atmosphere, service and food. All around great place. Service style is a little bit different just a heads up. You order as a group on a little note card and then the server picks it up. A manager came by and apologized for the wait. All of the tacos were delicious. We ordered ice creams and then after we finished they brought us more for free and said that they accidentally made extras. That was nice! I think you're expected to pay as 1 check. We didn't know that so the server split up our checks for us. read more

Where to start... You drive in to be greeted by $5 self parking.... You heard that correctly. Self parking. The inside is nice, similar to the other location, except the music is about 10x louder, obnoxiously louder. We sat down and ordered margaritas that were served warm due to the glasses being pulled directly from the dishwasher. The staff was pretentious acting as if it were treat to be a customer there. We've eaten bartaco many times before and just had a HORRIBLE experience. We won't return. The server was terrible and we didn't receive half our meal until we called the manager over, who told us that was "just how they do things" - how, forget about the food we ordered???? All of the food that finally arrived was SO SPICY and not edible. Not worth the $70 dinner we had. Only thing that was good was the margaritas, but it's going to take a lot more to erase this awful experience! read more

I love all Z Bartacos! I am a huge supporter and foodie for life when it comes to them. I wanted to do this review on the Chastain location because our experience was top notch! It was my dads first time and we had just wrapped up moving. I owed my dad several cocktails as he handled one hot mess of a meltdown. I'm a tad dramatic about shit. Anyways, we arrived on one of these beautiful global warming days we keep having and we were greeted by Jeff Hornel the Manager. He was so smooth and relaxed, it was as if he set the tone for my ass to calm down too. I was like yassss Jeff! We chose to sit inside by the window where lots of sunlight enters the restaurant. We went for the house margarita and the Dark & Stormy. Both were perfect and fresh. One of the main things that made this Bartaco stand out way more than the others is the staff. Everyone was sharp. Very fluid and sincere with menu suggestions, and honest about selection of choices. I felt totally pleased before my food even arrived. Jeff came by a few times to check on us and chat a bit. It was organic and not cheesy and annoying like being followed around on a car lot by a salesman. He was entertaining and filling the gap between whatever was going on in the kitchen. I only noticed because I've waited for years. It was nothing to worry about as we had no moment to think about it. Jeff offered us free guacamole and chips to keep us alert which is always a nice touch. I really like seeing others reactions to food at places I take them to for the first time. My dad was very happy and enjoyed all of his selections. We opted for the lunch special which is a great value. You get three tacos, and either soup or a salad. Go for the soup if you're hungry. It's a house made chicken soup filled with veggies and generous pieces of chicken. Very good. We got a duck rice bowl, the plantains which are quality. We are Jamaican and we both approved. Nothing could have made this trip to Bartaco Chastain any better... except for the co-manager who happens to be from Jamaica coming by our table and sparking up a conversation so deep and dope with my father that it made him think about home in the most profound way. On this visit I decided to try the ahi tuna bowl. For about $9.50 you get a large portion of seasoned brown rice (kinda spicy me likey) with very fresh trio of julienne cut peppers and red onion that may be marinated in vinegar for an extra kick! The portion of ahi tuna left much to be desired (I think there were 5 very small slices. I didn't mind that they skimped on the tuna as much because there was just so much flavor packed in to that bowl! Avocado would up the anti!! On previous visits I've tried most of the chicken, shrimp, beef, and pork tacos which are pretty good (sans the bah mi shrimp one....not a fan..don't even care to remember the name). The bowl was a nice change of pace for me. Service was fast as we were a large party of like 20 at 9:30 on a Monday. My only complaint is the liquid to ice ratio on their cocktails, specifically the Port Chester. This may be my fav drink in Atlanta, I can drink it morning, noon , and night (wait....lush much??...Kanye shrug) but at abt $10 a drink which turns out to be three or four ladylike sips (depending on what kinda lady you are) via the straw and you're sucking air!!! I once tried to outsmart them by ordering without the ice but they knew my intent and I was embarrassed at the 1/4 cup of port chester I received (at room temp). Very good! I have been multiple times and it never disappoints. Service is great and food is even good when taken out. Only complaint is that the portion sizes are pretty small. Cute restaurant and great vibe. I will be throwing it into my regular rotation. On weekends you can expect a wait, but nothing too long. Make sure to get the guacamole it is soooo good. Ended up here on a girls birthday weekend. Most of us were from out of town or had just recently moved to Atlanta, so we weren't sure what to expect. We called ahead that morning so there was a table being set up for us once we got there. We didn't wait long and the ambiance was so cool! The large chips and guacamole was a good, shareable size, but the tacos were WAY smaller than we imagined. They were great, I just wish we knew to order more than one or two! Lastly, the mojito is can't miss. Definitely one of the better ones I've ever tasted. Our waiter Cardel was awesome, putting up with our dumb/drunk questions and bringing out a birthday candle and desserts after he realized we were celebrating. This is a story of a dining triumph. A delightful chef helped us avoid an emergency room visit. Chef Alex and server Hilary changed my concept of dining out with allergies. My sister and I have a food sensitivity. With reluctance we advised our server of our dietary needs. To our surprise Chef Alex came to our table to personally share items on the menu that were safe to consume. He paid special attention and created a custom order. The. Food. Was. Exceptional.  Fresh veggies with vibrant colors. Best, slightly spicy guacamole, so delicious that we had two orders. A meal is more than one dish. Our tacos were two bites each of ecstasy. I was deeply impressed with the service at Bartaco. I have a severe garlic allergy and they took great care of me--I was able to eat so many things! The manager took a great deal of time to walk me through the menu and checked in on us regularly. The food itself was wonderful as well. I've been to two locations- this one and the location on West Midtown ATL. Awesome tacos, be sure to order plenty! Our favorites were the fish, pork belly, and the cauliflower. Disappointing. If I could give 2 1/2 stars I would. I normally go to Bartaco on Highland in Inman Park which is always excellent. When a friend told me he'd be in town and had a drop off at Lenox, I thought this location would be just like Inman Park...and convenient. Wrong. The Bloody Mary I was served bore no semblance to the delicious version I'm served at Inman Park. Chicken soup wasn't at all cilantro seasoned and spicy (like IP). One piece of chicken in soup had gross skin while another two pieces tasted past their prime. Yuck. Tacos were passable but just not good. I'll continue to patronize Inman Park location, but I won't return to Chastain. read more
