Our main server, Nohariz, was incredible. She was warm and made the experience elevated to another level. The rest of the staff were also amazing and attentive. It felt like we ordered the entire menu with our group and enjoyed nearly all of the dishes. Our Order: APPETIZERS- -Louisiana Oyster ($19): Overall decent oysters but didn't stand out. - Seafood Gumbo ($13): Has a little bit of a kick to it and tasted homey. Better than other seafood gumbo and particularly better than ACME's. ENTREES- - Eggs Sardou ($26): The artichokes were perfection. They had the right amount of batter ratio and the flavors were delicious together. - Pecan Gulf Fish( $31): This was my favorite dish here. The fish of the day was fresh and had the right balance of tenderness to crispiness. - Eggs Owen ($32): The braised short rib was so soft and flavorful. It melted in our mouths and was one of our favorites. - Duck Confit Waffle ($32): Mixed review for our table. Someone that doesn't typically like duck, liked this more because of the waffle and sweet flavors. I found the duck way too salty and I don't care for sweet and savory dishes. No one really cared for the confit. TRADITIONAL BRENNAN's BREAKFAST ($80)- The amount of food that came was way more than we expected and especially because we didn't see that each dish came with a drink pairing. - Brandy Milk Punch: Tasted like an alcholic milk shake. - Baked Apple: We didn't particularly care that it came out at the beginning. It tasted like the inside of an apple pie but less sugary. It was interesting but not something we would get again. - Turtle soup (paired with Bloody Bull Cocktail): We were hesitant at first but decided to give it a try. We couldn't tell if we were tasting any turtle or see any of it. The aged sherry is supposed to soften the meat but ended up ruining the dish for us. - Egg Hussarde (paired with champagne): Standard but good. - Petite Filet Mignon (paired with wine)- So good and tender. We wished there was more. - World Famous Bananas Foster( paired with coffee with chicory)- It was fun to hear the story behind the creation and to watch it made in front of us. Delicious to share but can quite sweet after a few bites. It came out with the coffee pairing and that helped balance it out. 2026 is Brennnan's 80th anniversary and since we were also celebrating a couple of birthdays, the restaurant surprised them with some aprons (pink for the special 80th) and a large cotton candy with a surprise cake and ice cream underneath. This was a fun addition to our dining experience and lit up the birthday people's faces. I ended up taking the coffee to-go because I couldn't finish it and a server was kind enough to put it in the cup and add ice per my request. The bill came out much less than I was anticipating given the amount of food we had on our table. Though some dishes were average, the dining experience and service well made up for them. I was disappointed with shrimp and grits, expecting actual grits rather than a grit cake. My parents loved their soft shell crab and the Eggs Ralph diners loved their soft scrambled eggs with crab. I had a bite of my husband's and was overwhelmed with dill, which wasn't for me with eggs and crab. The kid's meal is a pleasant surprise. Three courses for them for $25: fruit with whipped cream, their brunch choice, and then ice cream for dessert! My kids were definitely fans. My daughter saw a bday dessert with cotton candy and says she wants that next time we come!

It truly feels like you are stepping back into a time gone past when you find your way into this establishment. Cafe Du Monde is broken up into two distinct environments. One is its interior seating area. It's fine in there if you want to get out of the elements. My choice is the exterior seating area, however. There is just something great about having coffee and a beignet while sitting outside and embracing the weather that New Orleans in known for. It's a fully covered space, so you don't have to worry about getting wet, if it is raining, or anything like that. It is just so much fun to sit there and embrace the day. The way this place works is that if you see a table, you just go and sit at that table. No waiting to be seated required. Once there, one of the staff will quickly come to take your order. They have a limited menu, so ordering is easy. Cash only please! Some of the staff are truly unique individuals. The last time I was there, I had an elder lady, of Chinese descent, helping me. She could barely communicate in English. Luckily, my Mandarin was good enough for us to place or order. Though Mandarin was not her native dialect, we did, none-the-less, communicate. That was an experience. How she helped out the other customers is anyone's guess. I'm just saying, some of the staff at Cafe Du Monde are truly unique individuals. Knew how to serve without being intrusive. Our favorite kind of a locals-only type place where everybody seemed to know each other. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the friendly neighborhood vibe - a nice bar sitting a block from Canal - go figure.
