    Our breakfast bundle

While staying at the Yosemite Valley Lodge we had breakfast at the Base Camp Eatery. This is a cafeteria style restaurant right in the Lodge common area (near the lodge main office). We walked the short distance to the Eatery where there was a small line. You place your order at electronic kiosks with a number of options for the morning meal, and for most items on the menu you can customize your order. They also serve dinner and lunch but we enjoyed those meals at other locations in the Valley. After you place your order - and pay for it at the kiosk - you receive a receipt with your order number. The kitchen staff prepares your meal and calls your number. My wife and I ordered the same thing our first morning, the Breakfast Bundle. We both often for Bacon (pork sausage was the other option) which was served with scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. My wife found a table while I wanted for our food (at certain times, an indoor table can be elusive - she found one in just a few minutes). We were both pleased with our meal. The scrambled eggs and potatoes were seasoned well and the bacon had minimal gristle. There was ample serving for a reasonable price - especially knowing we were deep inside a National Park. They do serve coffee but we splurged and ordered Mocha Latte from Starbucks which is next door. On our second morning we wanted a lighter breakfast as we had plans for a bigger lunch that day. We ordered two Yogurt parfait with a side order of two pastries. It was a good sized container with greek style yogurt - with added blueberries and strawberries. I also selected one fruit danish and one chocolate croissant. Once again,. we both enjoyed our orders. I appreciate having a quality meal available in such a convenient location in the park with reasonable prices. I did note several bad reviews and it looks like it's related to lunch or dinner meals.

Pork chile verde bowl was not good at all. The entire bowl tasted like everything came out of a can and was not fresh at all. The only thing I liked was the side of crinkle cut fries. Kiosk ordering system is available. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, however, it gets full fast. Customer service was okay.

Limited options but I have to admit that given the volume of purple they have to serve during peak lunch time, they are very efficient. While it took a while to reach the front of the line to the kiosk to place my order, it only took a few minutes for the order to be ready. We ordered- Chicken tenders Side of fries Pesto pasta Crispy chicken sandwich Black bean oat burger Side order of the Basecamp sauce We actually enjoyed everything. I'm surprised because I would not expect that from a food court in a national park. Food is overpriced (which this was) and not good (which this wasn't). The fries and tenders were crispy, the sandwich was yummy with the fresh coleslaw, the burger was tasty, the pasta was bland but filling. We enjoyed the food so much that we also ordered the tenders, fries, and chicken sandwich to go, to eat later! One thing that's important to note is that the pasta station is different than the station for the other foods and it is not clearly marked. Grab a seat at the start because it can get very crowded at lunch and then one person can place the order. Would recommend lunch here so that you can fuel up between the various hikes!

We weren't planning on eating in Yosemite but we got caught in a thunderstorm and had nothing else to do so we decided to come in here while we waited out the storm. You order on a kiosk. After we ordered we realized there was nowhere to sit. This was awful with 3 little kids. They don't have enough seating and don't seem to mind people taking up seating that didn't even purchase anything from here. We finally got 2 seats at a counter type table to put our food down at and let 2 of our kids sit and then we (adults) just stood at there. We got the chicken fingers and pizza. The food is overpriced (as to be expected somewhere like this). The chicken fingers were surprisingly decent enough. The pizza was just bad. Overall, I'd avoid and bring in your own food if you can.

This place is extremely busy! Ordering on the kiosks did not take too long, but the waiting for the food took forever because there were so many people. We waited about thirty minutes for two cheeseburgers and a hot dog to go. Pizza line is very fast because not as many people ordered the pizza.

Very conveniently located in an adjacent building next to the front desk and close to our room. The dining area was fairly large and was very well kept. The food selection was alright, typical grilled options and salads. There a couple of vending machines inside that dispensed various cold sandwiches and ice creams. We ordered our food using one of their self-service kiosks. We ordered the cheeseburger combo and cheese pizza. The burger came with all the fixings, the bun was soft, and the patty was adequate. Overall an ok burger. The cheese pizza was cheesy and the sauce tasted a bit like canned pizza sauce. The portion was generous for a personal size pizza and more importantly, my child liked it. We also stopped by in the morning for breakfast and they had the typical options: breakfast burrito, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, etc. They even had a vegan burrito option which was nice. Overall nothing to write home about, but a solid option when you are out in the woods.

Pretty fast service on a federal holiday. On the day we came, the cafeteria was just barely full, and the park was near-empty (because it was so darn cold). Food was made-to-order nearly immediately, and there were no lines. Generally speaking, food here is overpriced. You're paying for the cost of shipping food to the 'middle of nowhere'. But I gotta say, after trying many items on the menu, I recommend the basic cheeseburger. Here's what we ordered: * Cheeseburger: If we ever go back, we'll be sure to order this. This is the only item worth ordering in my opinion. It's not particularly special, but it's quite decent! The patty is decently juicy, and the bun is toasted crispy on one side. Especially for a food hall, I was surprised. * Chicken Terryaki: Not bad, but would not recommend. The chicken is too salty, and the vegetables taste funny. The brown rice is dry. Although, the chicken was decently soft, so at least the chicken wasn't dry! Seems like it was prepared in a sous vide (e.g., a slow boil). * Kalua pork: Very salty for my taste buds. If it wasn't for the extra sauce, I think this might've been a decent dish. The taste of the pork and the macaroni was quite spot on. If you order this, just ask for no sauce! Or ask for sauce on the side. In short, it's a cafeteria. It won't fill you, and it won't be cheap, but after a long hike, this is all you need really!

One of 3 eating places at Yosemite Valley Lodge, Base Camp Eatery is the cheapest option, offering a cafeteria-style setup with to-go options. Base Camp will likely leave you with either a like it or hate it feel, based on what time you go. When there are no crowds, Base Camp offerings a modern cafeteria feel, plenty of seating options, a variety of food styles and types, to go option for heading out, and (frankly) it's amazing getting this much in the middle of a forest. But if there are crowds, the inefficiencies of Base Camp will come up. The pricing is high but you have to factor in how far everything has to come and where you are. But lines can be outrageously long, services not working (2 working kiosks out of 6 total), and understaffed. Our first pizza was burned as the cook had to do something else and we had to wait for basically 2 pizzas to be made. Give yourself extra time when coming here and always plan for a backup if you're on a schedule.

We stopped by for lunch. Ordering is via kiosk. It was around noon rush time so the wait was about 10 minutes for everyone's orders. My cheeseburger was a typical cafeteria lunch but was accentuated with the mountain sauce (bbq sauce with a little kick of spice). The fruit cup and apple pie were about average. The place has been upgraded since my last visit 9 years ago and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall a sold non-fancy place for lunch.

It's a cafeteria style no frills kinda diner. It's definitely nothing special but given the context of being deep in the valley, this place hits the spot. We came here for an early morning breakfast and if you've been living off of camp food for awhile this is a refreshing change of pace. That being said, don't expect anything actually good here Food: 4/10 Service: 4/10 Atmoshpere: 6/10 Value: 6/10

Decent for national park standards. Long lines usually. The cafeteria line is confusing because it merges with the pizza line at the end.

It was a beautiful day with a little snow outside, we had a window view, the wine was good, our server was very kind, and everything we ordered was delicious. I really like the quieter atmosphere here. The Ahwahnee dining room is beautiful too, but The Mountain Room feels a little more relaxed while still being a notch above casual dining. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during summer, and you can book ahead on OpenTable. Since it is located at Yosemite Valley Lodge, parking can be difficult when the area is busy, so taking the shuttle is often the easiest choice. A wonderful sit-down dinner spot in the valley.

From the gate we should've left. I don't think I've ever said anything about myself, but I will…read morethis time on top of will talk about who I was in company with. As a business owner for the past 30 (contractor, hot rod shop, cannabis company in 7 states) years along with my wife (cannabis company that operates in 7 states and manager of our construction and clothing company we operate together), a business owner of 10 years, my friends wife (owner of her warehouse and salon that resides within it), business owner of 8 years, good friend (owner of multiple warehouse and real estate properties as well as owns an import export business in a loyal client of for my multi state operational business) for the last 20 years. The reason I took the time to explain that was because we understand workers. I'd fire the hostess Treanna or however you spell it. Hands down gone, no talk or anything. Had we not already been embarrassed by her on Mother's Day, I would've took first time in my life to talk to a manager. Upon arrival, (a reserved one) we showed up a little early. Our party of 8, (3 young kids and one of them is 3 year old, and 4 adults) upon check in were told by Treanna they wouldn't be able to accommodate us because we only had 7 people on the reservation. 3 mothers on Mother's Day to be turned away. Well before I could react, Treanna scurried away and told my wife she'd make a decision for us shortly, but we'd likely have to come back at a later date. Thankfully as she walked away, another gentlemen who just missed her asked us if we'd checked in and we gave him our info and he immediately sat us down. Well nobody knew I was with the group yet and as my wife was headed to change a diaper, Treanna walked back out and without noticing I was there, she began to reprimand the gentlemen who sat our party down. He admittedly said it was his second day so sat there and was being scolded by Treanna, then she said out loud her next move was that she needed to figure out what to tell us because we weren't welcome to stay. ON MOTHERS DAY WITH 3 MOTHERS. To make it even better? I kept sitting there and watched more things unfold. Next? She stormed off and another group walked up. No reservations, and the new guy happily accepted them, party of 5 and sat them down. As they walked by, another group walked in and guess what?????? TREANNA WALKED BACK UP TURNED THEM AWAY AND SAID NO RESERVATIONS, NO LUCK. It legit was a couple in their last 70s early 80s. The lady looked so sad. After they left the nicer new guy walked out and Treanna told him to not take anyone in without a reservation. I kinda got that considering when we made the reservation on the phone they said they were most likely going to be a packed house until......... I walked in and the dining room was 1/2 empty. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FFFFFF..... yea you see where I'm headed. So now that we were in the twilight zone and my wife walked back up she asked where everyone was at, we walked in. Our party was sitting there with an extra chair which we all fit fine. Matter of fact we could've fit 8, but since we were already turned off l, we started to pay attention to the food at other tables. I'm not too sure what I should've expected but the food all around us? Looked terrible. Well, upon sitting down as well we found out Treanna exchanged words with my friend who was at the table and he shut her down as she was still aimed at not having us there. Fat chance. Away from home, reservations with no other place to go, we weren't leaving. Now let's get to the good part. Our waiter. I wish I would've got his name. He's a bigger guy and he spoke kind of like he was acting. It was cool. Suited the setting and it was a loud clear voice so very easy to understand. We started with a drink and appetizer order. When he left we all sat and watched Treanna do the weirdest hall monitor type activities like silently going the water servers a thumbs up while she extra watched one of the younger guys like she had a crush. Hard to explain, but Twilight zone actions. Anyways the drinks showed up 24 minutes later and one of them had a floating something in it so we sent it back. The apps were served and the drink came after mine was long gone and we had already mentally checked out. The kids burger smelled burnt, and steak and fries were very obviously burnt, my house salad wise fine but tiny for the $$$ and the 2 strawberry salads weren't really edible. I rushed thru that last part but that's how we all felt, over it, FFWD, time to go. Luckily our waiter saw we weren't pleased and asked if anything was wrong and we were explained the hostess and we that we weren't going to eat there, it was 9 o'clock and over. My wife, who almost never says anything to anyone let the hostess know it made our top 10 worst servings we've had in the 30 years of us being adults. FIRED.

I have been coming to Yosemite for nearly 40 years and have watched the evolution of the park, its dining, and especially the Ahwahnee. Years ago, the Sunday brunch was something people talked about across California. It felt abundant, elegant, and worth planning around. Even when dinner was never truly extraordinary, it was still consistently decent and the buffet was known for quality, variety, and presentation. This recent visit was deeply disappointing. We made a 12:30 p.m. brunch reservation during my birthday weekend because I could not get a dinner reservation. I already knew brunch had declined over the years, but I was honestly shocked by how sparse and tired everything looked. I am not looking for some Las Vegas-style buffet, but this felt scraggly overall. The buffet presentation felt pieced together, with small plates set over bins of ice in a tiny corner, rather than the thoughtful, generous spread this restaurant used to be known for. Much of the food looked like leftovers. Vegetables were not warm, several items were dry, the seafood selection was minimal, the salad options were limited, the fruit was underwhelming, and even the dessert display felt meager. There was an omelet station, bacon and sausage, mac and cheese, and a carving station, but overall the selection and quality did not come close to justifying the $69 price. What made this harder was that I had spoken highly of this brunch before, and my partner was also disappointed. I felt embarrassed for having hyped it up. The bright spot was the service. Evan, our busser, was excellent, polished, attentive, and exactly what you hope for in a fine dining setting. Simon, our server, was also kind and professional. I appreciated the birthday cupcake and thoughtful plate presentation. To be very clear, if it were not for the service, this would have been a one-star review, possibly even zero if that were an option. What makes this even more confusing is that we also had dinner at The Mountain Room during this trip, and the food there was overall delicious. So clearly, better execution is possible within the park. I do not know what is going on here specifically, but I genuinely hope management figures it out. I understand staffing and housing challenges in Yosemite. I also understand that operating here is not easy. But this is exactly why management needs to rethink the offering. I would much rather pay more for a brunch that feels intentional, fresh, and worthy of the setting than pay less for a meal that feels neglected. Right now, this brunch is not worth the reservation. This was the worst Sunday brunch I have had here, and that is difficult to say after nearly four decades of visits. The dining room remains beautiful, but the food no longer matches the space or the legacy. We left a good tip because our server and busser deserved it. Nothing else.

When I stayed in Mariposa, I tried their special. A burger with shrimp and sweet potato fries. Definitely different, but it worked surprisingly well and tasted amazing. Also, you HAVE to try the local brews, so get the flight. This place honestly feels like Mariposa's little slice of fancy without trying too hard. I had dessert too, and I can't even remember what it was called... I just remember it was gooooooood.

We spent a day in Yosemite and stayed in Mariposa, and we wanted to grab something for dinner. We…read moresaw that 1850 was nearby and had decent reviews, so we wanted to try for ourselves. We parked right at the front with the gravel and got our names put down for two people. The hostess was very nice and gave us a buzzer for when our table would be ready. It took no more than 5 minutes before it buzzed and we got in. The restaurant itself is very cozy and decorated well. We sat at a table that used hanging doors as dividers, which we thought was a neat idea. The lighting was nice, not too bright but also not super dim. Our server told us about some specials and also recommended a few different meals. We took up her offer on fries and went with that. Even though it technically was a shareable, it was a huge serving! The fries were perfectly crunchy with a soft interior. The steak was also really juicy and tender, not too chewy at all. The sauces and cheese mixed in with the fries were also the perfect balance of salty, crunchy goodness. The salmon was deliciously soft and moist. They paired very nicely with the creamy mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. We worked together to just barely finished the salmon and take most of the steak and fries home for leftovers. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend this spot! The quality and amount of food makes the price worth it. If we're ever visiting the area again, we'll definitely stop by 1850!

WOW What can I say about Oakhurst Grill! This place is a favorite spot whenever I'm in the…read moreOakhurst/Yosemite area. I absolutely love this spot and it never disappoints! I've visited this spot many times when in the area. Lots of parking although this place gets really busy during dinner and peak times. This spot is pretty big inside with a bar area and a separate main dining area. Clean and well organized with lots of dining tables. Arrived early for this visit around 4:30pm to beat the dinner crowd. Chose to be seated in the main dining area which was still empty with only a couple tables taken. Provided with a menu and ordered the following: ***Meiomi Pinot Noir 5/5 - superb! $14 ***Bowl of clam chowder 5/5 - a MUST order, sooo flavorful!!! $12 A couple at the next table saw my bowl and asked about it, which I highly recommended and they agreed when they got their bowl. ***Hawaiian salmon kabob 5/5 - so delish! $15 ***Chicken marsala over pasta with veges 4/5 - very tasty! $28 For dessert, got a bruleed cheesecake bites ($9). It was sooo good!! 5/5 Staff are friendly with great customer service! Felicia has been my server and helped me during my last couple of visits. She is so cool! Will definitely visit again.

The food was good and the menu selection had something for everyone. We ordered pastas , burgers, appetizers, salad, soup, and also kids meals. Everything was good and came out in a timely manner. Great and friendly service. The weather was nice, so we decided to sit in the patio. Luckily there wasn't a long line when we arrived. We ordered lattes, pastries, omelet, and breakfast sandwich at the counter. There's a section for you grab the condiments by the counter. The lattes and hot food are brought to the table when they are ready. Everything was delicious, but pastries were exceptional. There's plenty of parking available and a perfect place to enjoy brunch before the long drive. I definitely recommend this place! Pro tips: check out their menu online to decide what you wanted before you get there so you can take time to decide on the pastries.

I don't usually post things like this, but I feel like I need to share my experience…read more I've been a regular customer at this coffee shop for months. I used to go almost every day, I've supported them consistently, bought drinks and beans there regularly, and it was part of my daily routine during a really difficult time in my life. My usual drink isn't available on their online ordering system, so I've always called ahead to place my order. That has never been an issue before. They knew my order so well that they referred to it as "the Amy Special," and there were times my drink was prepared ahead of time for me to pick up when I arrived. Today I called to place my usual order. I was told the person on the phone was the owner, and I was told they had been discussing my drink and that it was "very unusual," and that I would need to come in to order instead. I asked for clarification because I've always ordered the same way for months. I was told again that I would need to come in, and that my drink was too complicated to order over the phone. I explained that I've been ordering this drink the same way for a long time and that I've always been able to call it in before. After I said I was going through a hard time and wasn't really up for coming in, the call ended. When I called back, the phone was hung up on multiple times before I was able to briefly speak with someone again. When I did finally speak with someone I recognized, my reaction was emotional because I was confused and hurt by what was happening, and the interaction didn't feel like the experience I had come to expect from them. What I'm upset about is not that a business can change how they operate. What I'm upset about is that there was no clear communication that a policy had changed, and no explanation that made sense of why something that had been routine for months was suddenly not allowed. I'm sharing this because I genuinely thought I had a good relationship with this place as a customer, and today's experience didn't reflect that. This was a place I supported daily for a long time, and it became part of my routine during a period of my life when it genuinely mattered more than people probably realize. That's why today's experience felt so disappointing and hard to process.
