I've always been an Bashas Grocery Store fan and we were happy to have one near our Mesa home. Although Eddy sold his chain the legacy and employees continued. Most of the locations are more "neighborhood" stores vs the Megastores. Stores are intuitively organized, nice bakery, Deli, Butcher and produce. This location has a Starbucks adjacent to lunch counter and frequently enjoy a donut and Joe before my shopping begins. The Deli carries Boars-head brand meats which I prefer. I also enjoy how quickly I can get in and out of the store vs being lit most in the Megastore and their long lines. My criteria: Parking is easy! Shopping is easy! Check out is easy! read more

Zero stars for the self checkout machines. You now cannot pay with cash at all at the self checkouts! They are all card only. Every other store including Walmart, there is at least 1 machine that takes cash. This is extremely inconvenient for some of us. There is also always an issue with the Bashas' shopper account. Back when you first got a Bashas' account and card, there was no app. Now that there's digital coupons like every other store, you have to use the app, which somehow created a second account when you downloaded the app. So now upon entering your phone number, you have to have an employee select the correct account on the screen. I've heard employees of this store complain and make jokes about California, but this store is turning into the neighboring state they love to hate. Service is getting poor, self checkouts are card only, and problems with the customer account......all you need now is no bags and you're there......trust me, a California resident. read more

I am an Arizona boy born and raised. Bashas' has been around as long as I can remember. I was bothered when I heard that the company sold out and you can most definitely tell that things aren't the same. I will say that because there's one close to where I live. It's easy to stop in and get something I need. If I'm going grocery shopping for the week I tend to go to Fry's. Bashas' ha gotten expensive and they don't really offer many deals. read more

Wanted to purchase pork country ribs to day when I arrived display case was empty and I walked around the store for awhile to see if more would be out. Later at 10:45AM contacted an emplyee asked if they had any more ribs and he goes to check comes back and said they will have some late in the morning. I did not purchase anything else. I'm so surprised this store is still in business. I went there to pick up donuts and some hot food. Barely any donuts to choose from and the hot food was beyond disgusting looking. So I ventured through the store and everything was twice the price compared to frys and Walmart community market. With inflation through the roof I can understand certain items to be expensive but not everything. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Safeway and Albertsons are a block away and far better selection and much better pricing. read more

I love being able to support a local grocery store - "Serving Arizona Families since 1932" :) The location close to my house closed so this was my first time into this location. I was just stopping in to purchase AZ Renaissance Festival tickets but ended up taking a stroll around the store to get a few groceries. The store is definitely an older store but still well kept and well stocked. The food all seemed fresh and inviting. The staff was all pleasant, but definitely a slower vibe to the store. I lucked out and the bakery staff was just restocking the donut case. You really can't beat the handmade donuts that bashas offers!! read more

Poor Customer Service. Yesterday, around 4:30 - 4:45 PM I went into the Bashas on 9925 E Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85209. I purchased a bag of UTZ potato chips ($4.49), bananas ($0.65), Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham ($2.99), and 2 Russet potatoes ($1.74). All totalling $9.87. I went to the self-checkout register. The first one had a very light screen. I then went to the next self-checkout which had a darker screen.s other An elderly woman who was assisting in the self-checkout ran up to me and in a loud, condescending voice said; "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT ONE!!" I replied: "The screen is too light for me. I need a darker screen." She then went and got 2 employees, a man and woman to watch over me so that I did not steal $10 worth of groceries. At 71 yrs old, I hardly look like a shoplifter. I was appalled and humiliated as other shoppers saw what was unfolding. I have been shopping at the Bashas location for over 30 yrs. read more

This store is well put together and the bakery is expansive, meaning it is large and offers a lot of variety of baked goods, plus there is a Starbucks as well. The food is of good quality and the deli always has meats cooking, giving the shopper the scents of turkey, chicken, & other meats in the air. The service is top notch and efficient. The employees knowledgeable & friendly. The ambience is busy but quiet. Good deals can be found here as well. read more

I only go into this store for something that is on ad. I don't really like to waste my time in there as the price tags and signage absolutely stinks. nobody knows anything. it's always "oh I think". Is there anybody in charge here. No registers open but this big kid just standing by the scan your own damn groceries section. Their prices are way overboard too, except for some occasional ad prices, but you never know how many you can get for the ad price. It's no wonder that they are the laughingstock of the grocery business. The original founders are probably rolling over in their graves. Just close, they can put in a Dollar Tree or Big Lots. read more

I love this Basha's. There is a large, clean parking lot. The carts are always collected and amply available. The store interior is always clean. The products are always stocked and available. I love that Basha's is a local franchise. While some prices may be higher, and other older stores (like AJ) are horrible, the newer stores are fantastic. There are a great amount of vegetarian and vegan products, including non-cheeses, veganaise, non-dairy spreads, burritos, gluten-free baked goods, and so much more. The produce department is pleasing and full of great-looking produce. There is even a small produce cart for kids, giving them a free healthy snack. This, paired with kids' carts and the scavenger hunts for prizes, is sure to keep your kids from misbehaving while in the store. I don't have young kids, but I was one once. My mom had her share of "you wait until we get home", "you're never coming with me again" and even down-low swats. She'd give us a pile of coupons and send us to find everything. I digress. This Basha's has a Starbucks, which is great, since I always seem to shop while hungry. The employees at the Starbucks and at the registers, in the produce department and in the meat department are very kind and jovial. They seem to really like their jobs (or are really good at faking it). I also appreciate being able to donate at the register to local charity efforts, while not being constantly sold on donating. The baggers always have done a great job for me as well. Speaking of local, there are also tons of local gifts scattered throughout the store. They carry Chompie's baked goods, and now have Rango honeys and bee pollen. I have picked up Cardinals water bottles, artisan soaps, greeting and gift cards, books, and a hat or two at this store. I love getting little gifts and things while I get my groceries. Mostly because I don't have to do extra "peopleing". If you don't do online shopping, or if you need a quick few things, stop in to this, or a new Basha's. read more

Normally love the selection of products this Bashas has and the friendliness of the staff however I didn't appreciate seeing the elderly man grabbing carts outside in the 110 degree heat. Shopping for groceries. This is our closest Bashas, so I thought I would add it and review it. Over all the store is nice, clean and staff is friendly. The bakery is smaller and seems cluttered next to the Deli area, but bread does seem to be fresh. Deli is good, but be careful sometimes the food sits longer than I would prefer. I love there seafood area. Cold is separated in 2 ares, which is tough if you need cheese and milk, since they are at opposite ends of the store :/ read more

Pretty decent store. I stopped in at about 8:45pm. Deli seating area tables were a little dirty, Could've used a little wipe down. Closing deli clerk should wipe them down before leaving. The freezer section end displays were 50% empty. Not just low but zero product in in them. Looked a little dirty as well. It just seem like the whole place could use a bit of straightening. Bakery tables were kind of a mess as well. Closing clerk could have straightened it up a bit before they left. Cashier, a blond haired girl was very friendly and helpful. Great donuts. I have lived in many places and they have pretty much nailed the fluff, bite feedback, freshness, and variety. That being said their grocery prices are on the higher side without a noticeable difference in quality or freshness from other stores. Good customer service. I am writing to review the pharmacy. I noticed on my Good Rx app that the prescription I was needing was much cheaper here than Wallgreens. I however wish I had paid the extra and went to another pharmacy. I was coming here directly after having my wisdom teeth removed. There was nobody waiting for a script, so I thought it would be a quick fill. I had blood pouring out of my mouth and had to continually go to the bathroom to spit. I had to open a box of gauze to stuff more in my mouth. After waiting for about 40 minutes, I was at my wits end. The pain meds were starting to wear off from surgery... "Is this about done?" The pharmacist was about grey, and sweaty. Looking very sick himself, he reported he tried to call in sick today and there was nobody to cover him! So there he was, sick as a dog, making excuses for making me wait. I did not have a lot of compassion that day for this man. Sure, he said he was passing a kidney stone....then go to the Dr! Don't show up! It was quite awful! He apologized and said he probably shouldn't be at work....you think??? I finally got my scripts and took my blood swallowing self home. Ugh. I usually come here to pick up steaks. The people in the meat department are always so helpful and friendly. This one lady in the meat department always recommends different prepared items (she knows I'm a sucker) and of course I always buy her recommendations. Hey, I have yet to be disappointed. The store is always clean, sale items are always in stock, and the lines are never more than two people deep. read more

Since we moved here a year ago this has been my go to grocery store for just about everything unless I need bulk items. The employees are always helpful and courteous. Their meat is premium and the butcher always knows what to recommend. She suggested a rib roast last Christmas that was superb. The whole family now wants me to make it every Christmas. Horrible customer service here. As a senior, my phone isn't as "advanced " as is apparently necessary for electronic coupons. Basha's is overpriced you can get the same stuff else where for cheaper, the only thing that stands out is there deli and bakery department, there Deli food is better then the cheaper grocery stores like Fry's Walmart etc. The reason why I'm only giving the Fry's at this location 1 star is because I went to the deli and when I was waiting to be helped, the Deli Clerk completely ignored me and decided to be on his cell phone having a long chit chat instead of helping other customers. VERY BAD Customer service! My husband was trying to check out at self check out yesterday. The cash register was open and available. When he started to check out he was told he needs to watch his space by the rude attendant working in that area and that he can not use a cash register unless he is called up even if it is open and available. My husband is hispanic and was the only one told this. The cashier was very confrontational with him! She told him he needs to watch himself an watch his space! In all the months ov Covid we have never experienced anything like this! This was targeting him because he was different and was obvious! When he called to speak to the manger about his experience she is the one that answered the phone and tried to say she was the manager. Per the receipt it says Ray Dexter is the Director. We were shocked that Bashas discriminates toward hispanics! I guess since Eddie Basha is no longer living and they have merged with a California Grocery company more of this can be expected! We have been coming to this store for 3 or 4 years now for groceries but have added a new twist recently, at least for us. They have really good pizza, chicken, mashed potatoes, etc. and it's priced pretty well (not the Mac & Cheese, it's WAY overpriced) so it's been like having a new place to grab some dinner when we don't want to cook and a much better option than fast food! Worst customer service from any store ever!!!! Took them forever to handle my problem and the staffs are very rude.

I had a very rude cashier. I used a coupon that it was hanging on a coke bottle and I removed the rounded part but not the coupon it self and she refused to take it. Coupon was intact it had expiration date rules and barcode. I guess she hates her job and people using coupons. Cashier's number was 0129. Her name was not in my receipt but if you go there you will know who she is.. she looks mad and doesn't smile at all. read more

The staff has always been excellent and helpful and always seem to have a smile on their faces, it is not the biggest Bashas in the chain, there is another Bashas at an equal distance from my house to this one and I always choose this one, that should tell you something. Always been satisfied shopping here but I am concerned about the slid down hill. Case in point, every Sunday morning for the past couple of years we purchase Chorizo burritos from the bakery. Over the past month, I noticed they are significantly smaller and are not as flavorful. Our family loved these things but will be looking elsewhere and out of convenience will probably move our entire grocery operation. I was in there this morning around 7am. I don't live in the area so I only use the bashas for lunch at work. So I do not have a bashas card. Usually they have a courteous card which I always liked about them. so I grabbed my items head to self check out I asked the cashier if she can scan a card cuz I knew I would save. she rudely told me no we don't do that, So i asked if this one time and she said " no you can fill the paperwork out and get one" I work for healthcare i was running late already so I didn't have time I asked if I can have the paperwork and bring it back. she said " again you can bring the paperwork back and thats when you will get the card" I usually don't make a fuss of little things like this cuz obv she was having a bad morning but the manager I think his name was Aaron or Eric I'm not sure but he was working at the crismon and baseline location at around 7am on 4/15. He heard her response came over scanned a card for me. Wether I saved 50 cents or 1.00 its ppl like him that go the extra mile for a customer is what you like to see. We have been shopping this Bashas since it opened, and it is probably my favorite of the grocers around here. The people are very helpful and friendly. They by FAR have the best meat around and have butchers on hand to get you exactly what you want! The produce is fresh and fairly priced and they have the BEST bread, rolls and donuts of ANY grocer in the valley. I have never had a bad experience here! read more
