When we first walked in, our waiter was very welcoming and kind. Service was great. We ordered a croissant with goat cheese, mushroom, and egg, and it was so amazing that I didn't even get to take a picture because I was too busy shoving it in my mouth. We also also ordered the berries and cream waffle, and a two juices. The juice was good and so were the waffles. The ambiance was delightful, and there was pretty good music. This place was our go-to for brunch because we loved their chicken and waffles! However today we got frozen chicken fingers with our meal. $19 for a waffle and 3 frozen chicken strips!! Very disappointed! Update: I spoke with the server and assured me that they will be back to normal the next week, there were supply issues this week and he removed my plate from the tab. Grabbed some dinner at the east side location, after coming across the menu & reviews for Basico on Yelp. The dining room was nice & roomy, with tables and seating socially distanced. With so many taking out/ordering delivery these days, the space was open with only our party dining at the time. (5 stars) We started with the spinach & crab dip appetizer that came with pita bread triangles. Everybody enjoyed this to begin. (4 stars) For the 5 of us, the meals that were selected were the Turkey Caprese sandwich with French fries, a Pepperoni & Salami pizza, a Chicken Caesar salad with the soup of the day (chicken noodle) on the side, the Baja Fish tacos and some Tuna Tostadas. My favorite was the tostadas. The plate was fairly small but the tastes were huge and delicious!!! (5 stars) The fish tacos were also very good - the beer battering was perfectly crispy and paired well with the chipotle aioli, cilantro, red cabbage, radish, pickled veggies and added avocado slices. (4 stars) The turkey caprese sandwich was ordered for a picky boy so the tomatoes and basil pesto was ord in the side. The turkey & fresh mozzarella worked well on the ciabatta bread & the side of fries were tasty. (4 stars) The pizza was good but a bit messy - hard to eat without a fork and knife because the crust was so thin. Would have preferred thinner sliced salami too. (3 stars) The Caesar salad was good but at the end of the day it was a simple salad so only so much to comment on. The chicken noodle soup was surprisingly good. (3 stars) Service by the bartender was on point and very good. We're looking forward to going back to try the "best in El Paso" breakfast and brunch menu another day. (5 stars) read more

First off the fries were PERFECT. the salmon burger was perfectly prepared. The chicken and waffles were good as well. We had three pitchers of mimosas pineapple, cran-orange and white grape. Since the first time I tried this place, it has become a go-to for breakfast, especially brunch! They have quite a variety of food, and it has all been really good and worth it. I have tried the chilaquiles (the green ones are superior), the house migas, and the different pancakes. I've yet to find a favorite, it's so hard to choose! A bad experince all around arrived and eh hostess wanted to seat us where she wanted and not where I wanted. The place had about 10 people in it and plenty of space. It took the waitress 10 minutes to get to us to ask for drinks. Ordered the Molletes and the waitress had to go back and check t see if they had them. The Molletes are usually french bread to as we call them bolillos. This particular item in the menu called for french bread, beans cheese, and chorizo. They brought out two pieces of Texas Toast with cheese and beans no chorizo. It only got worse after that, I ordered the Basico Breakfast was of the smallest eggs, undercooked potatoes, and 2 small pancakes that were undercooked and terrible. I sent the pancakes back and the second set was no better. Bottom line, terrible service, food, and prices. I will never go back to this place. I give this café 5 stars because of the excellent customer service, the great experience, and the most extravagant and delicious food. I love the set up as well. The Food is amazing here. The only problem is that they are severely understaffed. I'm not even mad at the wait time, i'm mad that the waiters can't catch a break. This place was great! Love the ambiance, modern deco, open concept and lighting. Go a salmon burger on ciabatta and sweet potato fries. The salmon was cooked perfectly, moist and warm and fresh and not overly salted. The bun was lightly toasted. The fries were waffle cut and sprinkled with fine sugar. I'd never had fries sprinkled with sugar before, it was divine The waitress was professional, attentive and subtle. Not too chatty but friendly, gave the impression of an almost french-classy bistro. Delicious! Small cafe style joint. Not sure why this is the first time hearing about this spot. We were seated immediately for brunch as soon as we arrived. I couldn't keep my eyes off how amazing the food looked at each customers table. So we tried a mixture of items. I had the bbq big stack burger which was cooked perfectly, with onion rings, and bbq sauce, yum!!! The truffle fries were out of this world, the perfect amount of seasoning with just the right crunch to each fry. My daughter had the waffles with fruit and she couldn't stop smiling. My wife had the chilaquiles and loved the combo of red and green flavors. My Tia had the chorizo and papa tacos, she thought they were just ok, nothing special. I agree, maybe add some time of cilantro lime cream or something to make them unique. My favorite was the Mac n cheese, wow! It was so creamy and full of flavor I loved it. Service was very good and attentive, the ambiance was perfect. Noise level was great, I don't like the new restaurants that make me feel like we are in a night club, I hate having to yell at the people in front of me just to have a conversation. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they didn't have a few of the items listed on their menu. I noticed that was a problem from other reviews. I suggest making the menu smaller with the top ten foods that people love and really focus on those items so you don't loose the stars you deserve. This should definitely be a 4 star bistro at least. I only giving 4 stars because their espresso machine was broken and I need coffee in order to function in the mornings. The server was great, she made good recommendations about the menu. I ordered the red chilaquiles with over medium eggs. It was DELICIOUS. I will most likely return to this location to give their espresso machine a second chance and to try other items from the menu. HORRIBLE service!! Tried this place out for the first time and was very disappointed with the service. You can definitely tell that this restaurant does not prioritize customer service. Servers were rude to us the entire time we were there. I even overheard two servers talking about an issue that occurred at our table. Not only was service terrible, but there were small insects in my food; I saw small worm like insects in our lemons and 3-4 gnats in my food. These types of issues should never occur at a restaurant! This was a total nightmare. We gave them the benefit of doubt after taking around 15 min just to get a server to come take our drink order and that's only because I had to ask someone. The place wasn't slammed either for that to be excusable. After we got our drinks and food order. It was as if we weren't even there. We waited a good while until realizing it's been close to 40 minutes and not once did our server check on us and our food still didn't even arrive. Again we have to signal some random server and let him know that our food has yet to come and we need refills at this point. Our food arrived 10 min later after waiting a full 40 min. I ordered the chilaquiles. Let me just tell you. This is not chilaquiles. I know people make them a certain way. But not only did it look awful it tasted horrible. I ate my eggs because i was starving by that point. Our waffle tasted pasty. Our bill came only "again" because we asked for it. Appalled at the audacity that whoever the manager was didn't at least offer at least a discount for the inconvenience knowing she'd already been advised of the service we were dealing with. Again we ask for a removal of waffles due to the taste because we didn't eat it. And some sort of discount for the inconvenience. Our bill went down to $54. This place has the potential to shine and yet it is losing customers because this is not their first bad review. We are not cheap people looking for a freebie.
