So my wife and I went for lunch today to try out this new place. We ordered the pot stickers and wow they were delicious !! I ordered the chicken sandwich and my wife ordered the strawberry walnut salad with chicken and an extra side of goat cheese. Our order took way over 30 minutes. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. Once we got our food. It was delicious ! When the check came, our bill was over 40 dollars. My wife's salad was 20 bucks !! That was the most expensive salad we've ever purchased. wow, what a disppointing visit. wasn't that crowded, yet they were quite disorganized. we placed our order for two salads with the grilled chicken. while waiting, someone else came to take our order. while sitting there, we noticed people's plates just sitting there on the kitchen shelf- not being taken to tables. had to ask for another fork cause the one given to me had dried syrup all over it. clearly hadn't been washed. when our salads arrived, one had half the amount of chicken as the other. both salads were truly overpriced. the final insult was being charged $8 for adding the chicken instead of the $6 as stated on the menu. the bill was corrected but how many other people get ripped off. poor food, poor service and a bad business practice of charging more than what is on the menu. read more

We called in advance to ask about wait time and they said 15 minutes and that we could put a name down on a waitlist. When we got there they stated that they don't do that and lied about the wait time. Others sitting down stated they've been waiting for 20 minutes for drinks. Others had empty glasses and and looked annoyed. There were only three people working and we had to wait 15 minutes just to have someone come and talk to us. Very disappointed with this location, I miss the downtown Basico. We waited over 20 minutes and no one ever came by to even ask for our drink order. The 2 waiters working kept passing by our table avoiding eye contact, couldn't even say "I'll be right with you". The restaurant was not even busy, about 3 tables were there and they had already received their food. The food is usually good when I had visited the old downtown location, but I'm disappointed with the service we had at this one. Was looking for a place where they serve both lunch and breakfast, and found the place. I stopped by at Basico George Dieter location. and during the week they serve breakfast until 2 and have a lunch special starting at 11:30. Service was great. I ordered chilaquiles red/green and fell in love with this, my friend ordered berries and mascarpone pancakes and those where great too, the order person with us ordered the penne with sun-dried tomato pesto and it all looked amazing. definitely coming back to this place. read more

Over priced for small portions. Wife got breakfast looking bowl and it was sized for our kids. Kids food looked better and I think they got fries. I got eggs and tacos. Got tostadas and Valentina sauce, no cheese, no lettuce/tomato. Staff avoided eye contact. Great music and ambiance, looked very modern and new. read more

Took about an hour and a half to get our food. There were literally four servers just standing there talking to each other. The restaurant wasn't even busy and they still took a long time. When we finally got our food it was cold and the servers were upset when we asked for them to warm it up. On top of that the second time they brought the food it was still cold . Horrible service, they didn't even say anything to us when we asked to take back the food. They just stared at each other and took our plate. The house migas were dry and incomplete. What i got wasn't the same as what the menu said. The mini pancakes were really good. The presentation was good. The restaurant had alright vibe to it and a little overwhelming. The server forgot some of my items since he didn't write down my order. This is for the location on George Dieter. I was skeptical about this place, based on the latest reviews, but thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. The waitress very attentive and helpful with suggestions. The coffee was very good. I had a very fluffy (not over cooked) omelette topped with thick and tasty red chili sauce, a side of bacon and avocado. Others in my party had the green chili chilaquiles, that were tasty and crunchy, the pancakes were very fluffy and perfect as a dessert with coffee. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. My husband and I stopped by for brunch. Waiter offered us seats at the bar, there were no tables available. Our bartender was attentive and cool. But our food, omg was so disappointing. We both ordered omelettes. My husband ordered hash browns.... hahaha it looked like a hash brown from McDonald's no joke. My omelette's recipe required sundried tomatoes, they threw so much tomato paste that it looked like chorizo .Paid way to much for what we got. I was very disappointed in this restaurant as the ambience seemed charming and the service was good. However the the quality of food was terrible making this restaurant overpriced for what you get.The hash browns looked and tasted frozen boxed and were tepid and the chilaquiles were even less desirable. They looked and tasted like store bought stale hard tostadas thrown on a plate drenched with what tasted like canned enchilada sauce- the cheese was no where close to melted even with the added eggs for $14.25 the quality should have been much higher . Overall I would give this restaurant a thumbs down. There is nothing good about this restaurant and I will not be returning. read more

The menu is limited and the value to size portion is not great. They have a great patio but the menu does not support a hang out place. They need to change the menu to be more basic and filling. Tried it a couple of times and was not impressed even with a simple burger ordered...they tried to serve me fries in a fancy container; more focused on like and I got like 8 fries. 3 words hit or miss. Food on one visit cooked perfectly on the next visit not so much. Staff hit or miss some friendly with smiles some not so much. On last visit it was an attempt to order online thru grub hub. Placed order and it was confirmed that they accepted it. Then after waiting an hour with no update I tried calling several times to the restaurant and the phone was busy finally got thru an they tell me.." we don't accept takeout orders on the weekends". No where online did it mention they do not take take out orders. And nobody felt the need to call or message saying that. Just annoying an really not cool to treat potential customers like this. Thankfully I called grubhub and they canceled the order for me an issued me a refund and offered me 10% on my next order for the inconvenience. Nothing from basico bistro not even an apology. Over all if you eat there be patient it's small and staff moves extremely slow and are not the nicest. The inside is nicely decorated and food is good when cooked fresh and properly brought out. I was so excited to try this little cute brunch place and support local, BUT sadly it sucked lol. First of all, they were missing a bunch of food from the menu, the waiter forgot my drink so I got it like super late. Then my bf got his food and my pancakes were missing. We were sitting there for like 15 minutes waiting for my pancakes. The staff standing in front of us talking and the kitchen staff yelling and cussing at each other. We had to flag a waiter down to ask them to comp the pancakes because at this point we just wanted to leave. Then they finally brought them. No one ever came to check on us after that. CAUTION!!!!! This restaurant is nowhere close that caliber it claims to be. When arriving, the waitress/hostess took approximately 20 minutes to offer any beverages... After requesting our drinks, our waitress pointed out a slim selection of alcoholic drinks and offered no alternatives to what we had requested. Two rounds of drinks in, and an hour and a half later, our meals came out of the kitchen, the sweet potato fries were cold and of poor taste. The chicken poblano sandwich I ordered was not fully cooked. The only excuse for this poor service was that they had one cook. All in all, if you want to day drink, this is your spot! Horrible service, found A hair in my food I didn't want my money back just wanted a new plate rude lady probably about 5'3 come from the back and said if I wanted anothe plate I would have pay for it. I said no thank you paid for what We had ordered and left. We constantly had to request refills, silverware. I recommend you go to the westside location, the staff is amazing. I don't typically rate low when it comes to restaurant reviews based on food, quality, and experience but this was absolutely terrible. The sequence of events that led to me leaving my food at the table and deciding to eat elsewhere was based on the pure fact that my groups order came cold, stiff, and soggy. First, we checked in and were forgotten by the hostess, eventually after 30 minutes of waiting and reminding the hostess we were seated. This goes without saying that groups that came after us were being seated first, so we knew that we weren't just making this up. We made our order, Chris was absolutely great to us - he was genuinely trying his best on a day that wasn't the best. After waiting another hour for our food we finally got our plates and the food was cold, I ordered a burger which was no longer warm the fries were cold and stiff. My girlfriend ordered chicken and waffles and received the chicken taste-less and cold, the waffle had sat out for so long already that the waffle was stiff and hard. I was not going to pay $15 dollars for food that doesn't live to the expectations of the downtown location. My friends ordered pancakes and Chilaquiles the pancakes had the syrup over them for some time and had now gotten soggy, the Chilaquiles had been given to us soggy and not worth it. I've never left a restaurant without eating my food but this was supposed to be a great experience especially for the price and I was not going to sit there eat and pay a tab of over $80 for food that had less care and presentation than my friendly neighborhood McDonalds. Yikes! We decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Case and point if you want a great experience at Basico I highly recommend you go to the downtown location which was absolutely fantastic! read more

Since I walked in to the restaurant I was disappointed. No one greeted me and it seemed like the manager was sitting at the bar with friends or coworkers and just turned around and stared at me. I told her it was a table for 1 and she just sat there and said to sit wherever I wanted. She was very rude and kept gossiping at the bar with her friends. I sat at my table for maybe 20 minutes before anyone approached me for my order. Finally the waiter took my order and he was very nice. I noticed he was super short staffed and was serving every table by himself!!! The entire restaurant was filled. I've been sitting here for my tacos for over 30 minutes now during lunch time. I understand it's a busy time but please have more staff during busy hours!!! I don't think I will be coming back. The waiter was nice, and I appreciate his hard work. But for the lazy manager, she needs some work. Also, the kitchen staff needs to be a little faster. I only have an hour for lunch, and I don't think tacos are so hard to cook. read more
