Vermicelli noodles with lemongrass chicken and sliced beef banmi
    Patricia F.

First visit lots of help with any questions. Excellent service. Very welcoming atmosphere. Vermicelli with lemongrass chicken oh so good. Noodles perfectly cooked and lots of carefully diced veggies with chopped peanuts. Menu has clear message about peanuts. Owner we spoke to when she came to our table said they accommodate ant dietary restrictions. Hubby said sliced beef sandwich now his favorite.

[5/5] Atmosphere Such clean, bright, and spacious interior. Love the decorations and theme. [4/5] Service Service was overall good - no one checked in during our meal but that's fine. We were there during the Seahawks game and one of the waiters noticed us struggling to see the TV as there were plant decorations and she moved them all out the way so we could watch which I thought was super thoughtful. [4/5] Food We got crab rangoons to start - I don't think I would get them again as the outer shell wasn't my thing (maybe the type of wrapper they used?) I got the chicken pho and my husband got the pho dac biet. We both enjoyed our meal - the bean sprouts and greens were fresh. Broth tasted very clean - we didn't find it too salty. We paid $49 before tip. A bit on the higher end price wise for pho. [4/5] Location/Parking Located in a small plaza right next to Grocery Outlet. In a small plaza by Highway 99. Adequate parking.

I think it's safe to say that this is my new favorite Vietnamese food spot in the north! Came in with zero expectations and left SO impressed. Food & drink: (5/5) We started with a salt and pepper calamari because apps are 20% off during HH. We love Viet style fried food and this was everything we wanted. For entrees, my partner got the pho dac biet, a craving that he easily ate clean. I took a sip of the broth and it reminded me a lot of the pho my mom makes which is always a good sign! I actually don't like pho all too much (compared to other Viet soups) so I got the bun cha gio thit nuong. The vegetables were fresh, the thit nuong was sweet and salty with a nice chew, and the cha gio was crunchy with good filling. Service: (5/5) Again, super friendly and gave a homey vibe that reminded me of my own Viet family. They were having a team lunch while we were there and it was super heartwarming to see!

In short An experienced pho place opens with triple the menu, full bar, great buildout...and they even book live music sometimes. Great cocktails and the kitchen is killing it. In long We've enjoyed the Everett Basil for years, though they put a TON of cinnamon in their broth and we both prefer more savory, marrow-y soup. This place sounded cool when it opened, and when we finally scoured the menu online, we talked ourselves into going before we read even half of it. So glad we did. This isn't the most-inviting stretch of 99 (which is a road that's rarely inviting, anyway). But as soon as you walk in you feel like you're in a private oasis. The dining room feels open and appealingly lit, but it really will seat tons of people and it's not overly bright. The decor has an upbeat feel without being garish at all. On the bar side, there's a very cool modern backbar with tons of spirits, and big flatscreens around the room are showing the game, probably. There are booths, highboys, and tables. Lots of V-pop (or similar) coming in through the speakers. The service is really friendly, laid-back, and cool. Super nice kids who really know how to talk to people. We went through the specials, regular menu, and cocktails, and definitely over-ordered, without even trying an entrée. Calamari Battered rectangles of squid with a pleasant, mild aioli on the side. Aioli needed Sriracha but was delicious on its own if you dislike hot spice. Tender, flavorful squid. Maybe the batter could be a little lighter. Mussels with lemongrass At least a dozen big gray-shell mussels with hearty bites in each shell. Tons of simmered veg and some fresh herb leaves on top. Big flavors in the green dipping sauce. Wonderful dish. Rare beef with lime sauce This was so cool. It's kind of a combination of the Thai dish Crying Tiger with rare pho beef and lots of fresh veg. The lime sauce kinda makes beef ceviche, figuratively speaking. Absolutely delicious. Hearty portion, too. Deep-fried quail You get about 6 portions, maybe 5 small bites each. Quail are small so they take some nimble teeth to eat. Served pretty well done. I loved this and would get it again every time. Wings We asked if they had a spicy sauce, and they instantly volunteered to kick up the house sauce with more heat. It's an awesome choice. Wings are wings, it's just a question of whether they cook them just right (they do--no grease) and add good flavors (they do that, too). Kinda messy with all the pepper bits and sauce on them, but so worth it. This is why there are napkins on tables. Cocktails We had a pomegranate old-fashioned and a fruity "Twisted Sister" (shoutout for any 80s metal reference, no matter how silly the band was). Neither was overly sweet, which is saying something, given all the fruit involved. Anthony was both our bartender and our server in the bar, and he did an amazing job. We tried to think about what we wanted to try next time, which will be soon. We brought home a whole serving worth of food last night, and it looks like we've already over-ordered for next time, too. lol

3.5 stars so I'm rounding to 4. My sister and I went here around 8pm on a Friday night after seeing a movie. I am glad something new came into this shopping plaza next to QFC because it's pretty sad otherwise. The atmosphere is great. I think Vietnamese restaurants are often lacking in comfort and charm, but this did not disappoint there. I got a shrimp vermicelli bowl that I really enjoyed. They are hard to mess up but the shrimp was cooked perfectly, which can be easily messed up imo. My sister got pho and said she liked it but didn't love it. We also shared spring rolls and it was that peanut sauce mix that is a darker brown, not straight peanut sauce which we prefer. The big issue was that my sister ordered a mixed drink (they have a fancy full bar) and the server came over a couple minutes after ordering and said the bartender was gone so she could only get beer. Um... on a Friday night the bartender wasn't there? Ok. And finally, I ordered a to go meal for someone and told them to please have it ready with the check. But they brought it out about 10 minutes after our meals so of course it was ice cold by the time I got it home. Not cool. They are new and you can tell they have some kinks to work out. But I'd go back.

What a nice hidden gem! Basil Bistro was pretty amazing from start to finish. We were seated quickly, the layout was spacious and decor was a whole vibe. The menu had a lot of variety and provided a lot of details with each individual item listed. The food came out quickly, was hot, and was so yummy! My only complaint is that we weren't checked on after food was delivered and we were over 3/4 of the way done with our meals when someone did stop by to give us more water and ask how everything was. We had run out of water and I had wanted chili oil for my pho, but other than that everything was great!

3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 because I'm a big fan of the late night hours and it was a beautiful and cozy restaurant. The pho broth was flavorful and good but we both had issues with the meat. My boyfriend said the meat in his dish was thin and dry. I ordered the seafood pho without the imitation crab and asked for more shrimp. They skimp. Only 3 pieces of shrimp in total and 3 pieces of squid. They added a lot of lettuce in the pho which I've never had in pho before... not impressed with the food necessarily. It's hard finding pho places open past 9-10pm so we were at least happy with the late night hours but I was disappointed with being skimped. The restaurant was cozy and beautiful though. I loved the cozy booth seating and all the pretty greenery. Service was friendly and kind.

Basil Bistro offers Viet food and Chinese food. The exterior is unassuming but the interior is beautiful and inviting. Service was good and staff were nice. The pho was pretty solid in terms of the broth and it was nice to see that the brisket they use is on the leaner end. I also got the general tso chicken and it was crunchy and flavorful. Overall good portions and Seattle pricing for pho.

Vermicelli bowl with pork patty, shrimp, pork skewer and egg roll around $20

After reading everyone's raving reviews about this new restaurant, I was going in with high expectations, but at the end of the day wasn't really overly impressed... especially because location wise, it's so close to me! We ordered: - crab rangoon - vermicelli bowls x2 We had to remind our waitress we ordered waters before she brought us waters. The crab rangoon was not good, the wonton wrapper wasn't crispy even though it was fried if that makes sense? Maybe its the wrapper they use. I thought the flavor of the vermicelli bowl was good, like the skewer, shrimp and pork patty all tasted good, but portion size here is pretty small compared to going to Good Pho You or Pho Nguyen (our normal go to local spots for Vietnamese), also not much lettuce, and veggies in general in the bowls. Then our waitress never came back. Later I saw she was taking a break, which is fine, but a new serving staff never came back to check back up on us for a while and I had to flag someone down to get our bill. The interior is very lovely!

The ambience we absolutely adored the restaurant. They did a great job in decoration. Everyone was very friendly that greeted us and served our table. We had a group and they did an amazing job at getting the food out. Our food was warm great flavor and amazing options we will be back.

5's all the away across the board with this place. The food, the atmosphere, the service and most importantly the people. This is a restaurant you walk in and they know you by name. I came here for my first time with my partners family's and they have been coming here for years and now I know why. We were immediately greeted and seated right away. It was as though we ran into a long lost cousin or family member's. Half a the group ordered Pho which is probably the best pho I have ever had and half had vermicelli bowl. We also go the tarot salad which I loved and the citrus tofu which we still talk about. Overall this place is 5 stars and beyond. PLUS it's not just a lunch place if you come for happy hour or late night drinks they have a full bar and stay open late late.

A/C was running high as it was a super humid and hot Saturday. The restaurant is one big open space with large, comfortable booths lining the walls and a selection of tables in the center. This would suit large groups, too. There's a small outdoor patio area with umbrella covered seating. They had World Cup games on and decor to match. THE FOOD: We immediately had warm, thick tortilla chips and house made red salsa on the table. Salsa is on the spicier side, but was absolutely delicious. We had the Cadillac margarita (moderately strong and well mixed), tacos dorado with steak (fried and seasoned perfectly), and corn tacos with birria (melt-in-your-mouth and perfect temp). The bar is its own little mixology section and is very well stocked. SIDE NOTES: We were way too full for dessert, but there were several nice options that all looked and smelled amazing as they passed us. Can't wait to go back when we have emptier stomachs to try more!

We were there a bit later, just before 8 p.m. on a Monday, and easily got a table right away. I didn't want too much food - at my age I've learned my eyes and stomach are rarely on the same page - but I definitely wanted some brisket...as an amateur smoker I appreciate how much work goes into beef brisket so always try it when I see it on a menu. So I went with the Happy Hour Caesar Salad & Brisket. For $8.50 it was a great value. The fat of the brisket was rendered PERFECTLY. My wife wanted the baked potato but allegedly someone came earlier and bought TWELVE and cleaned them out. Disappointing! But the two street tacos she got off the Happy Hour menu were tasty. My teenager decided to lean in and get the brisket entree. Fries and Mac & cheese as the sides with cornbread. He added some of his brisket to the Mac & cheese and loved it. Fries were crispy (double fried? Or battered?) but didn't get finished - too much food! I had a couple of beers that were good. The tap listing was available on a screen. Service was well-above average. Very friendly. I can imagine this place getting busy during peak hours but it's small enough that they likely can keep up. I doubt we'll be back. We are from out of town and while we come to the Seattle area often I like to try new places whenever possible. But we were very happy with how tonight went. 4.5/5.0 but it won't let me do a halfstar. Give it a try. This isn't a chain restaurant! We were happy to support this one.

It's just the right vibe, the drinks are strong, and the bartenders are attentive and nice. My grandma also likes this bar and she doesn't drink but she likes to go here for her birthday which typically happens to be on Super Bowl Sunday. They never complain about her coming in early to "set up" a table and they never make her feel weird which I really appreciate because I mean she brings like board games and stuff to a bar and doesn't drink so it is a bit odd but glad the staff make her feel welcome. Even on Super Bowl Sunday, the staff checks on us like every 10 minutes, no matter how busy it is. They don't pressure you to get a drink or food but they do offer which is also something I very much appreciate. Aside from all of this, I once had someone tell me this place has the best clam chowder and I was thinking "......? Ew?? Clam chowder from a bar??" Well I still have never tried the chowder, but I can tell you the Ruben is fire and you should definitely get one. I like mine dipped in au jus. I can say that the vibe/customers inside can vary, since I don't go as frequently it may have changed but there's definitely regulars as well as people from different age ranges. They've got a nice dart set up, lots of seating, pool tables, and a very large bathroom (good mirror to take pictures in the ladies room) Definitely don't pass this place up if you're looking for a good sandwich, nice bartenders, chill vibes, and good drinks. I would recommend coming around like 9 or 10 because parking can fill up, but typically you can still find a spot to squeeze into even if you get there later.
