Went in shopping for my boyfriend's birthday. His favorite chocolate is sold here-Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cream. I purchased a half box. They put the chocolate in cute box that says, Happy Birthday. Shop is kept really organized and clean. It's huge compared to the Ventura location. Staff was ok. They were kind of annoyed at my chatty box question asking self and kept cutting me off before I finished my question. Didn't appreciate that at all but I know get they weren't interested in talking to me. I had questions .. though .. haha! I did feel they were rude since I wanted to know about the different chocolates and that's what this business is all about :) Anyway.. important thing bf was super happy. Mission accomplished.

This is a big open store in the shopping center with Fry's and Olive Garden. Tucked away in the back, it's new, clean and has a large variety of boxed chocolates and their normal assortment of individual candies. I stopped in last week and was pleased to see some of my favorite candies in pre-packaged bundles, including Scotchmallows and California Brittle. They also had a ton of holiday chocolates (for Valentine's day) and seasonal small candies like sour gummies and heart-shaped foil wrapped chocolates. The employees I met were friendly and helpful, though I was not offered a free sample of chocolate like I've gotten used to at every other See's store I've been in. Oh well, it wasn't as if I needed another piece. Trying to cut back anyway. That didn't happen though, I ate my entire bag of Scotchmallows before the night was over. So good!!

Something sweet for the drive home!

Nevada was totally awesome in helping me select a midday treat. I've been on a sees kick since I tasted the caramel apple scotchmello but I do enjoy the California crunch, walnut square and some samples to boot.

    This store is pretty spacious

I don't understand why the bad reviews, everyone was friendly. I am used to going to the store in the mall for years. The ladies there are always nice, just as nice as they were on this location on Rose. Frankly, for a business like See's candy store, it comes down to service since the chocolate is the same at all the other See's stores. The service provided when i attended was good. Perhaps not great but there was nothing really to help me with since i knew what i wanted and made a bee line towards it. Promptly as we looked on the display we were offered a truffle to sample (always love that and expect that at any location). We were rang up with a smile, thanked for for our business and offered a card to redeem 2 free lolls with any $10 of spending. The locale itself is quite spacious, which i think will be very convenient once the holidays com around. The locations makes it super convenient if you are shopping at Marshall's or Fry's and want to avoid hitting the crowds at the mall or outlets if you want to get See's. Will be back around the holidays to see how they handle large cranky customers, haha

Scotch mallow in the wax paper are one of my favorites.

This See's store is so much more convenient than the one in the mall. It's hidden in the corner by the 99 cent store. The parking is good and they are always friendly. I had a $5 off of $25 coupon and a $20 gift card. The nice lady was new so she didn't know how to redeem my gift card so I guess I have to go back and get another box. Darn it. Lol!! See's is my favorite chocolate far better than Godiva in my opinion and much less expensive and always fresh.

    For the love of lollipops

I especially hated the blueberry that tasted pure artificial. Then the atrocity that was the coffee chocolate- I took a bite... no flavor at all of coffee, too sweet, then the bite of a dry sorta stale coffee bean. Like literally just a bean. Idk it was weird. The special was "dark floral" I thought it could be a flowery floral flavor you know? I thought that sounded cool and unique. naw...it just had flowers printed on it. Strawberry cream milk was way too sweet barely any strawberry flavor... like not one of these was good. I didn't finish the ones I tried, and I still am leaving the passion fruit I bought since I assume it will be as artificial as the blue berry. Sorry to be a hater but this ain't it.

But, it's an experience for sure. I felt like I walked into a mini-Vegas with all the colors and options; it's definitely a bright and happy store! Very much geared towards kids/teenagers but there are adult candy varieties here as well. My attention was drawn towards the M&M and Sour Patch Kids pillows. I am bummed I didn't buy one but I'll be back I'm sure. I bought a Harry Potter Butterbeer chocolate bar which was tasty. Not too caramel-y tasting which was a plus. There was 1 young man working who didn't say "Boo" to me until I walked up and asked him about the chocolate bar. He was texting behind the counter which is a huge turn-off for me. Less cell phone, more customer service. I easily could have been swayed to buy the pillows if he had been engaged. Oh well. If you're in The Collection and need a quick pick-me-up I would pop in. At least for the color therapy.

If you live far from Oxnard, CA, like I do, you can find them at Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market, Bistro & Seafood Market located within the Farmers Market at the Grove on Fairfax, located on 3rd Street in Los Angeles, CA, near the Palazzo and Park La Brea apartment complexes and the Holocaust Museum.

We all have varying degree of taste. Most reviews are written based upon our limited exposure, and therein lies the dilemma particularly with regard to the Parisian Macaron: Does one rate based upon limited knowledge and what's relative to personal likes and dislikes? OR...Does one rate based upon accuracy and adherence to authenticity? Guilty as charged, I have written reviews based upon limited exposure and preferences on a myriad of food topics, but when discussing the macaron, I would like to believe I speak with some authority, however, I respectfully defer to Fia R. who I deem Queen of the macaron. While performing a macaron search for the Los Angeles area, yelp returned a curious business with a 4.5 star rating: Les Macarons Duverger...in Echo Park of all places! Finding out the hard way that LMD (reference henceforth) does not have a "Brick and Mortar" storefront or physical address to refer to was frustrating. The address associated on yelp was erroneous and refers to a business that at one time sold these macarons but discontinued their sale. LMD is based out of Culver City, CA. The discovery of Monsieur Marcel at The Original Farmers Market as a local reseller excited me. MM was close enough and I didn't have to wait for a particular hour of the day at a given location just to try these macarons. My desire to try their freshest offerings prompted me to email LMD. Their swift response highlighted the fact that MM receives deliveries twice a week and that their supply is indeed fresh. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4DgEBxFNn7JtKKNc9830Ig?select=-QM2NdY8EjcZ-EHAODuzRw The purchasing power of your $19 yields one dozen macarons of a variety of flavors. Among the flavors included: (2x) Blueberry Lavender, (2x) Vanilla, Pistachio, Raspberry, Praline, Chocolate, Passion Fruit, Coffee, Pumpkin Pie, Salted Caramel. (For the record, LMD's macarons are not as vivid as my photo depicts. The linked image above was captured with Pro HDR and manipulated. They are much more pale in person.) My review can be summed up in a single word: Disappointment. ***BEGIN USELESS RANT*** Attention yelpers who rated LMD 3+ stars: You have NO idea what an ideal macaron is...especially if you claim to have tried 'Lette Macarons and likewise claim LMD's to be better. 'Lette's macarons are the closest you will find to an authentic Ladurée macaron here in the Southland (and the west coast for that matter). So to all the inexperienced macaron enthusiast who gave great ratings, here's a hint...great macarons ARE NOT brittle and dry as these. ***END USELESS RANT*** LMD's fragile macarons were anemic with paltry ganache fillings sandwiched by parched cookies. Refer to photos below: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4DgEBxFNn7JtKKNc9830Ig?select=ctOMJkvF_AqNwY4ly3XfIQ http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4DgEBxFNn7JtKKNc9830Ig?select=oJOsgOJ_hpffazLrc97x3A http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4DgEBxFNn7JtKKNc9830Ig?select=d8neatJbJ_WhagVXIBU5Yg http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4DgEBxFNn7JtKKNc9830Ig?select=S5IyLrDnzwZYC952HICtGQ Blueberry Lavender: 2.5/5 Vanilla: 2/5 Pistachio: 2.5/5 Raspberry: 1/5 Praline: 1/5 Chocolate: 4/5 Passion Fruit: 1.5/5 Coffee: 2/5 Pumpkin Pie: 1.5/5 Salted Caramel: 2.5/5 Chocolate, Salted Caramel and Pistachio were the only macarons with a moist cookie (thank heaven). They were, however, not exempt from the same issue of exiguous ganache. As I conclude this review, please let it be known that it is my sincerest desire for LMD to succeed and prosper. It is imperative that adjustments be made because in its current state, LMD's macarons are inferior and disastrous. Please correct your technique and be generous with your ganache filling. 1.67 stars (rounded up to 2)
