    Mattar paneer?
    Elle W.

Do you like nearly colorless food? Tasteless food? Soggy food? Yeah, me neither. We frequent Indian restaurants all the time and have for many years. This I would barely call Indian food. Compared to restaurants we've reviewed favorably this was garbage. And that's putting it nicely. It went straight to the garbage. I'm serious. Where were the spices? Where was the flavor? See the photo of my mutter paneer? Does that look like flavor to you? It was basically yogurt with some tomato and possibly some onion. It was nuts. Mattar paneer has been my favorite dish since childhood. This was an abomination!!!!! I was not expecting food like this from Annapolis. We chose this spot on Uber Eats (who I do not recommend...we contacted them on the issue and it was pointless to waste time) because our normal choices had no drivers nearby. Gosh dang that was a mistake. Next time we will wait it out. Thanks for the garbage I guess. Glad trash night is right around the corner. Seriously though, who is giving this place all these reviews?????? Are you guys fans of red lobster or something?? Do you all have covid??? Do you have a neurological issue which renders your tastebuds practically useless??? JEEZE!!!!

    Tandoori Shrimp! Quite delicious

Recently relocated to Annapolis and decided to try Basmati's as we very much enjoy Indian food. Being lazy, we opted for delivery which always runs the risk of not reflecting well on any establishment. Not so for Basmati! First, prep time was quick despite being prime time on Saturday. Food was beautifully packaged and arrived hot. I neglected to take pictures of the packaging - but all dishes were in well sealed plastic containers, with the rice being in a standard foil bottom, cardboard top container. Liquids were double wrapped in foil as well. And the whole order was in a nice Basmati branded bag For our first foray we tried a variety of dishes: veggie samosas, chicken korma, dal makhani, tandoori shrimp, alu gobi, and keemah mutter All were good, solid representations of the dishes. Our mistake, we chose mild as we weren't familiar with how the restaurant prepared the recipes. We definitely should have chosen medium (for wide and son) and for those who prefer more of a kick I would recommend opting for spicy. Our spice selection not withstanding - the standout dishes were the samosas as and the tandoori shrimp. Universal praise. The lamb was the next most popular dish with the others all being satisfying as well, just not quite jumping out as "stellar". Basmati delivered (no pun intended) as good, easy Indian food and we are definitely excited to try the other items on the menu. And have more samosas as well!!!

Rude and unprofessional response from Basmati owner. I will not be back and will caution others as well.

Sharing the rude and unprofessional response that I just received from the owner. Notice that her response was sent to me via direct message vs. my original post. As you can see, I gave honest, constructive feedback, but I guess the truth hurts and it's evident. Will for sure not be spending my money here and will caution others about this place also

Delicious, delicious, delicious! The staff is attentive and very courteous. During lunch hours, you can order from their extensive menu or enjoy their buffet, which I may add is a terrific deal--$ 16 for vegetarian, vegan, and meat options. There is always a soup and appetizers like samosas or pakoras. It even includes chai tea. The spiciness level is mild. This is a must-try spot; I would drive to eat here if I were not in the area. To me, is that good? The decor is lovely, with a soft ambiance and music, if any. It is the perfect place for a nice lunch date or a quick but satisfying lunch during work hours. How am I supposed to work after this feast?? I have no idea, but I will keep you posted!

About a 3-3.5: Basmati Indian Cuisine seems to be a favorite Indian restaurant, nestled in Annapolis. They have an extensive menu, offering items such as various appetizers (such as shrimp pakora, paneer pakora, aloo tikki, samosas, etc.), soups, salads, tandoor items, chicken/lamb/seafood/rice/vegetable specialties, breads, desserts, and drinks. We were craving for some Indian, specifically a buffet in which we could a try a variety - I was so glad to have called and have them confirm that they had a weekend buffet! The set-up was pretty generous, as they had a variety of accompaniments (mango chutney, raita. tamarind dressing), vegetable samosas, vegetable pakoras, fish pakora, tandoori chicken, BBQ chicken, goat curry, basmati rice, dal makhani, a mutter and mushroom paneer, garlic and butter naan, gulab jamun, kheer, and hot masala chai! My favorites were: +the veggie samosas with the slightly spicy tamarind sauce +the mutter and mushroom paneer +the BBQ chicken (this had more flavor in terms of spices than the regular tandoori chicken) +the gulab jamun (small, bite-sized pieces that were served hot!) +extra hot, unsweetened masala chai (can add sugar if you wish, but a great complement while eating the gulab jamun) Service was a little brisk, but efficient, and we had our waters refilled often and plates were taken away quickly; everyone was friendly, kind, and welcoming. I just couldn't believe the price, though - super competitive, considering it was a weekend, and how much they offered in their buffet! There were many patrons piling in during the lunch rush. Plenty of parking in the strip plaza lot. +competitively-priced weekend buffet! +veggie samosas with tamarind sauce +gulab jamun +hot masala chai +kind service +plenty of parking in strip plaza lot

Plus it was nice sitting by the windows and watching the world go by. And the atmosphere was down to earth, which we liked. One thing of note: the restaurant is not handicapped accessible. The restaurant sits at the end of busy Main St., closest to the pier. The actual restaurant is located upstairs, so keep that in mind. Chris was our server, and he was great! He recommended the pineapple margarita ad it was a 10/10. Neither of us felt like picking apart crabs, so we tried something different. I got the rib& crabcake combo, and my cousin got the crabcake entree. The food was delicious!!! Crabcakes were flavorful and meaty-9/10. And the ribs were plentiful. It was supposed to come with a half rack, but I swear it was a full rack-8.5/10. The sides were also delicious! I opted for hushpuppies and coleslaw. Usually I avoid coleslaw at most places, but this one was actually good! More mayo-based, than vinegar. If it was a bit colder, I would've enjoyed it more, but I'd get it again. We also tried the oysters. Half dozen raw oysters for my cousin and i tried a Chesapeake (8.5/10) and a Rockefeller (7.8/10). Overall our first-time experience was great. Thanks again Chris for your service! Hope to get you again the next go-round.

Someone in the group noticed the swirling tornado of trash right outside the front door. That didn't bother me, though I could see how someone would think that represents overall management and attention to detail. Just like a previous reviewer upon seating we got our glasses of water but waited about 30 minutes AFTER we'd drunk the glasses dry to get another. At least two of us asked for a refill during that time. So that's quite poor in itself. The first round of meat was actually incredibly delicious (it's why I went from 1 to 1.5 stars before graciously rounding to 2. Yes this could have been a 1 star review). The following rounds ranged from ok-to-good but nothing made us say "wow". Here the Star Rating killers... and I'll start with the big one. Or should I say Bug One. After about two rounds I happened to look down at my salad and saw several fruit flies trying to escape. Either they wanted a better dressing or wanted to go back to the trough, I dunno but at least 3 were trying to get off my plate depressa. You'll ask why I didn't say anything? This dinner was a lovely treat from family members who I may never see again so I didn't want to ruin their gift. I was however watchful to make sure none in the party went for a second helping at the insect bar. 2: I know it's a Brazilian place and the music is trying to accommodate that but unchecked playing of Sepultura over the speakers is a tough bite to swallow at a "nice restaurant". I'm sure someone spotified "artists from Brazil" and simply pressed play. 3. It's actually filthy in there. Sorry but grease builds up.

I got Brussel sprouts and mac & cheese for sides. The brisket was dry and felt reheated. The chicken was tough and the breast was over cooked, and the pulled pork was dry and bland. The only thing saving this food was the sauces. For a smokehouse, the food doesn't have the flavor profile of smoked meat. My wife got the eastportorican, which is a cuban, but it was dry. My companion decided on the lobster bisque, grilled halibut and lemon creme brûlée. I had the crispy fish Sammie (regular menu). The lobster bisque was velvety and thick with tender chunks of lobster and not heavy. The fish was flaky and tender, with hints of lemon over roasted Brussel sprouts. The dessert (not pictured) had a soft creamy custard texture with hints of lemon, topped by caramelized crunchy sugar shell. The fish sandwich was a barramundi filet fried and put in a brioche bun with bacon jam, remoulade and arugula. The remoulade had a nice kick. The fish was very fresh and has a great crunchy breaded exterior. The fries that accompanied the dish were also very good (generous portion). Service was impeccable and attentive.
