This place is a gem. Great coffee and gluten free options are delicious. More importantly the service is awesome. Lines are worth the wait. I just bought a chocolate eclair and it was still kind of frozen. To my surprise, the owner or manager came out with a Bee Hive Cake Slice. Said this is what we are known for. Insisted. Very good bread, coffee and pastries. That's it. This NOT a restaurant, don't expect any fresh cooked food. Egg sandwich, oatmeal etc, it's all nuked. What an incredible sandwich spot in downtown Sonoma. My advice-- on a nice day grab a sando to-go and eat it at one of the picnic tables outside in the park. Bread is baked fresh daily here, and you can tell. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich (seems like they have a special flavor every day, and on this particular day they had a chili almond chicken salad). Seriously one of the bet chicken salad sandwiches I have ever had. Sandwiches are about $8 a pop, but totally worth it. I can't wait to come back! read more

This was such a cute little bakery place to eat at! There is a lot going on though when you walk in, so I would recommend looking at the menu outside first. It is a bit pricey, but there is so many different things to choose from. For a bakery however, I didn't think the bread was that good - it was very overwhelming and you can hardly taste the inside of the sandwich. I ended up taking off the tops of my sandwich because it was just too much. But other than that, it was really delicious and I'd definitely recommend you check it out when your'e in the area! read more

I had the prosciutto & brie and tried a bite of my husband's grilled cheese (he chose Jack) & tomato. Both were great. Mine was loaded, and I actually removed some brie so the bread and prosciutto could stand out more. It's hard to screw up grilled cheese but Basque's was especially delicious. Yes, the beehive cake had a nice balance between cream and cake, and the custard was quite good. 4 stars for the custard. Other than that, enjoyed a cheese croissant, cookie, and chocolate muffin. All of these had a lot of the "yes!" ingredients...chocolate chips, cheese, and cherry bits. But the textures were very bready? Enormous pastries. Filling, but not delicate in any sense. I did not want to bask in the flavor of the baked dough alone. I thought, "Yes, neighborhood bakery! Yes, I'm full! But by the second bite, I am bored. My best friend and I had a Girls Weekend in Sonoma. We ended our trip with brunch at Basque Boulangerie. We heard from the hotel staff that their food was amazing so we decided to give it a try. We both split the PANINI with chicken apple sausage, egg, spinach & cheese and the SMOKED SALMON tartine with cream cheese, cucumbers, onions & capers. Oh my goodness it was so delicious! We enjoyed our brunch so much we ordered a dozen of macaroons to take as a hospitality gift to our good friends in San Francisco. Not only was the food good, but the staff were friendly and the service was prompt even though they were busy. I highly recommend this place for good food that isn't overly filling. When we come back to Sonoma, we will definitely be visiting this place again. read more

More of a bakery than a cafe. We had a ham,egg and (jack) cheese sandwich and it was top notch. They'll put it on any bread and 4 choices of cheese. Lots of delicious looking sweets and breads. They also do box lunches and have a coffee bar. Highly recommended for breakfast. read more

They couldn't divide up a Beehive at 3pm for some reason; just $16 for the whole thing. Very crowded, especially the line(s) to order is split. The queue up to the register is awkward with people tending to cut or seem like they're in line when they're actually just waiting. read more

Sad... I want to love this place but it keeps disappointing! Of course they have amazing bread, pasties, and Cheese Sticks! But, they food is horrible, lots of fat in their meat, and that Batista does NOT know how to make a coffee drink. Among the hustle and bustle in this quaint cafe, we managed to find a table for two and added a couple of chairs for our party of four! We enjoyed an americano, a cappuccino, a latte and house coffee. We also enjoyed the breakfast paninis!! They have a wide variety of baked goods, including breads and really good pastries. My wife and I had "lunch" at 12:11pm on 11/16/16. As others have said, the place is small and there is very limited seating, but people were almost out the door waiting to order. With that and all the positive reviews on yelp, we looked forward to good food. We were wrong!! I ordered a tuna sandwich and my wife ordered chicken salad. The bread of the chicken salad fell apart, it could on be handled and must have been old. The bread of the tuna was hard as a rock (not just the crust, but all of the bread). It was also "dry" as there was no mayo. In other words, the tuna was not eatable. read more

arrived on saturday afternoon at 11am and there was a line out the door. everything looked pretty good but I decided to have some oatmeal since I still had at least 1 hour on bike to go. my friend's grilled breakfast sandwich that she ordered after me took less time then the oatmeal that I ordered. When I asked about the oatmeal they said it was being made right now. I expected to see a ladel go into a pot but instead I saw tap water going into a plastic bowl then stuck into a microwave. Great location, great baked goods, not-so-great service. I love the baked treats and it is one of the only places to get a decent cup of coffee in downtown Sonoma but I often feel the servers are annoyed and not interested in really helping the customers.
