I love Bass Pro! I'm just getting into fly fishing so I spend most of my time in the fly shop looking at gear with my husband and talking with the men who work there about local rivers. They are knowledgable and easy to talk with. I could probably spend ours in the store just looking at things. One of my favorite areas is the freshwater tank with the big ol' redfish, bass, crappie, black drum and carp. On select days they do demonstrations by casting different lures into the tank. I also always check out what is on clearance in the ladies apparel. You can sometimes find North Face, Columbia and UnderArmor items for up to 50% off. Do NOT purchase from here! I came two buy a handgun which took about 2 hours. My first question was: "this is used can I return it if it does not work properly can I return it" sales guys response...yes! You have plenty of time to return this. Upon doing my paperwork there was a no return, as is policy they wanted me to sign...wait? What? You said I can return this. My sales guy Fred says, oh well we would take it back. Okay? Well, I'm not signing this then. Guess what? They won't sell it to you if you don't sign it. Then the store manager Paul comes out. He tells me they will take it back and says I can shoot it in their range after I buy it. Okay, well put in writing that you will take it back...no he says. It's against company policy. So let me get this straight, you keep me there for2 hours, expect me to pay several hundred dollars for a gun, which you say I can return but I have to sign something that says the exact opposite of that? Come on? This is not the way to do business. If there is no returns then there is no returns. Say that upfront not lie about it. If your going to do business with someone you should be willing to put everything you say in writing or do not open your mouth. I will not return to bass pro shop for anything. I'm sad to say they completely wasted my time and I am more than disappointed as that gun was a great deal. I only wanted to either shoot it first or have 24 hours to return it. I went to Skechers in the Mall and bought the Skechers Sport Tennis shoes for $46.99 and got half off the Gel top Dual Density,Memory Foam, Equalizers, for $19.99 for a total of $72.51. They also have a rewards program. They offer. Rating primarily based on slow wait time at check out. Had ordered fishing gear and had to pick up at front counter. 1 person there, three ahead of me, each taking about 10 minutes to check out. When it was my turn, was told it would be another 15-20 minutes since they had to get packages from back of store and resources limited to make the trip. Part two of story follows: The pontoon cover was delivered to the shop so I dropped off the boat on 6/15/15. The repair order has a big red stamp stating "QUICK TURN" *new boat*. I was advised that all new boats get priority in the shop. It is now July 1, 2015 and still don't have my boat. With Independence Day on Saturday, the best response I received when I called on 7/1/15 to check on the status of my boat was, "It might be ready by Friday...but I can't promise anything." My question to Bass Pro Shops is "Why, during peak boat-sales season, would you only have two technicians working on boats?" Waiting three weeks to get a boat cover installed is poor customer service. I truly hope wise consumers heed my advice and stay away from this money pit. read more

I'm more of a Cabella's guy myself BUT, this Bass Pro Shops was mammoth and had nearly everything the outdoorsperson could dream of. It even had a rattlesnake pit with real live rattle snakes. I was killing some time in Grapevine and decided to stop in this massive store. I was really impressed with the selection of items. I believe they have a little more in the fishing section than hunting, but that's not to say there isn't loads of hunting stuff. They even have a gun range inside the store which is handy. I enjoyed watching the bass roam around their tank. What I wouldn't have given to grab a rod from the fishing aisle and haul one of those big boys in. Great store, you don't even have to shop and it's worth it. Have a look if you're in the area. read more

Customer service is #1 for me. Sure, life is great when everyone's happy and you're buying fun stuff - and Bass Pro has it ALL to buy! Super fun store, great for kids with all to see (especially the waterfall and large fish "tank"), and has everything outdoorsy you could possibly want with lots of clearance racks to boot. But it's when something goes wrong that a store shows its true colors. So here's a shout out to Julie, the customer service manager, who handled a weird warranty item on footwear for me. It was beyond the warranty period but it was clearly a manufacturer defect, which is covered separately on a case by case basis (per the manufacturer, not Bass Pro). The manufacturer pointed me toward the seller, and it was clear Julie wasn't used to handling this odd warranty issue. But she handled it anyway and did a great job, making me feel like a valued customer. So thank you, Julie, and thank you, Bass Pro, for good customer service. There's nothing better. read more

If there was ever a place to turn a high maintainence person into an outdoorsy person, this is the place! It's almost an experience in itself. The parking lot was very spacious on a weekday evening, as we walked up, I realize it was a LOT bigger than I had initially thought. There was a tiny moat/steam surrounding the store. As we walked in, the first thing I saw was the high ceilings surrounded by animals, if you're not a fan of dead animals DO NOT GO HERE! At the end of the main aisle, there was a huge waterfall with what could be considered an aquarium of catfish and bass. I walked around the whole store and saw a small food booth with seating along the in store pond (complete with a live duck relaxing in the water), a huge selection of boats, fishing gear, bows, tons and tons of hunting gear, a small arcade shooting area, cheesy hunting themed gift center and a rattlesnake terranium. While my bf was exploring the very limited supply at the gun counter, I checked out the wall of animal photos. It really made hunting into more of a sport than anything else, there were so many different kinds of wildlife. It was interesting to see such an experienced and prideful hunter, it was a side I'd never seen... There was a polar bear photo from the 70's and even a walrus! Each photo had a score on it as well as a small behind the scenes description. This place seems to put other outdoor stores to shame. read more

Love Bass Pro! I have frequented their indoor gun range and used the rifle tube downstairs once to get my rifle sighted in. The aquariums and indoor pond are fun to look at for all ages. Decent deals on fishing poles...I've bought three of mine here. I usually come here for new lures and end up buying a bunch of random other things lol (Who wouldn't want a Bass Pro koozie that hangs around your neck??!). The concession stand has great fudge among other things like corn dogs in case you get hungry while you shop. read more

Not fancy, but they will likely have what you need for hunting, fishing, camping, etc. Private label brands, Red Head and Bass Pro, are usually high quality. Department sales staff are relatively knowledgeable and helpful. For my money, a slight bit better than Cabelas and Academy but still similar to those stores. read more

After a lot of research and reading about my next rifle, I came to bass pro to do some pricing and looking around. At the gun counter I met an employee named Al, who was the best and biggest help of anyone I've ever talked too. Not many of the other employees were as helpful, I had to pry info out of them. And even then it seems like they'd rather be somewhere else. But Al the Gunsmith gave me advice, recommendations, and even gun care tips! After choosing my rifle, he walked me through the paper work and even gave me plenty of history of the rifle and caliber as well. The price was far better than I found elsewhere, so I was very happy! I will absolutely come back to this store for Al. Not so much for the other unhelpful people. read more

Went into the Grapevine store to purchase a gun for home protection. I am a novice when it comes to guns and hoped that they would be able to help me chose the right weapon. The gun salesman was irritated at my questions and impatient that it was taking so long for me to make a decision. While I held the gun, he stood staring at me blankly offering zero support or guidance. I asked a lot of questions(It was going to be a 400.00+ investment after all), only to be met with blank stares and when my questions were answered it was in a condescending manner. I finally left and went home and researched what gun to purchase. I went back a few days later and told the salesperson the gun I wanted and he allowed me to look at it with great impatience. We then walked over to do the NICS background. Their computers are ancient and no one was able to answer any questions about the background process, it seemed shrouded in secrecy. It took three tries for the sales person to enter my NICS information. Again more impatience at my novice questions about the NICS check. After more condescension, impatience and inappropriate leering at my 17 old daughter I got frustrated and left. If you are a female I would not recommend a gun purchase here. You will be met by "Billy Bob" who treats women as inferior. (I can't even believe I am saying that in today's time) My experience with this store reminded me of the 70's. Later I went to Cabala's and it was a completely different experience. The sales person was knowledgeable and very patient and helpful. He treated me much differently and with respect. He asked me questions that allowed him to better help with my purchase. He was patient with my questions and spent extra time explaining the difference between guns and helped me to chose what made sense. The background application took 5 minutes on an I-Pad. I had a couple of questions and these were answered (No secrecy). I was done within minutes of choosing my gun. Very disappointed by the chauvinistic culture at Bass Pro. I've been a long time supporter of bass pro shops and their friendly staff. Lately(past 3-5months), they have completely lost all of that. I had my boat in the service for almost 2 months(was told by staff 2 weeks tops). when I called them, no one answered. Left a message, NO ONE called me back. Finally after a month of waiting I went up to find out that they havnt even looked at my boat, talk about bush league... The parts manager was NEVER available, left several messages and came in 3 different times. If you do call in for any questions, goodluck the operator doesn't answer and IF she does answer don't leave a message, it will get ignored. Also a lot of their products are about 10% higher than most outdoor stores. Come on guys, you're better than this...id expect this from sports authority or academy but not you guys!! The entire store is over priced, especially the firearms. They have a great selection of everything which means as soon as you walk in that door they have you trapped. However their pistol range and rifle tube are affordable and the rifle tube goes back 100 yards (as long as someone didn't shoot out the lightbulb out.) be aware you WILL overpay for a firearm here if you decide to purchase one. Big outdoor person so I'm obviously a huge fan of Bass Pro Shops. Personally I rank them above Cabella's because they offer a lot more services. My brother currently works there and says the staff is quite friendly and are flexible with their employees working hours. He also gets paid more here than he has at any other minimum wage job ever! I frequent the gun and archery range here and am always impressed at how knowledgeable the staff is when it comes to firearms. I own eight guns and have purchased all of them from Bass Pro. They are always having great sales on firearms year-round so it is always in your best interest to check their website often. If you are thinking about using the gun or archery range, be advised that it is first come first serve and there are only 6 about six lanes in the firearm range. Typically you should try to avoid evenings especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Every Christmas they always set up a huge "Winter Wonderland" area where children can get their picture taken with Santa Claus, do arts and crafts, and play fun games. I was there today and was quite impressed at how well they had decorated for Christmas. The store is always clean and employees know where everything is so don't hesitate to ask if you can't find what you are looking for. They also have what I like to call and "outdoorsman arcade", which is basically an arcade consisting of hunting and shooting games. Every time I take my nephew there he has a blast in the arcade! I am also a fan because I can get a snack at the food court they have located in the middle of the store. It is also pet friendly so you can bring your dog if you like.Bottom line, if you have someone who loves hunting and the outdoors, this is the only place to come! read more

11-19-17: I dropped my boat off at the Bass Pro Shops Tracker Marine in Grapevine, Texas for a 20-hour service/winterize/check on why the on-board charger was not working/check why on the rear fish finder/sonar the sidescan would not work. When I bought the boat in November of 2016 I upgraded to a $700 Lowrance Elite 7 TI unit which has sonar/downscan/sidescan capability. But evidently you can't use the sidescan capability unless you "upgrade" the transducer. Paul the service writer wrote up the work order. I left my wife's cell number with Paul and advised him that I worked in Baghdad, Iraq and to call my wife when the boat was ready. The service department called my wife on 11-22-17 and left a message that I would need to "upgrade" my transducer as the unit did not come with a side scan capable transducer and that the "upgrade" transducer would cost $300 for the part and approx. $150 to install. 12-08-17: I called from Baghdad, Iraq via Skype to check on the status of my boat. They advised that they were waiting for the go ahead for the sidescan transducer as it would require a different transducer for the sidescan to work. I gave them the go ahead and advised them to notify my wife via her cell phone when it was ready. 12-18-17: I again called to check on the status of my boat. I spoke with the original service writer "Paul". He said that they were waiting on the go ahead. I advised him that I had called on 12-08-17 and had already given the go ahead. I told him that I was extremely unhappy with the level of service that I had been receiving and that I wanted him to notify me via e-mail once it was ready as I worked in Baghdad, Iraq and that they could not call my cell phone. 12-27-17: I again called to check on the status of my boat. The person on the phone once again told me that they were waiting on the go ahead. I explained that this was now the 3rd time that I had to call and give them the go ahead. I asked to speak with the service Manager. I spoke with Chris Celio the Marine Service Mgr. I asked him why I keep having to call and give the go ahead 3 times now and that this level of service was unacceptable. He apologized and said that they would try to get my boat completed soon but that he could not give me an exact date. I asked Chris if there were some type of discount that I could be given on the service to compensate me for my inconvenience. He said, "Well I can see if there is some coupon that I can use". I called the corporate relations office at the Headquarters in Missouri @ 417-873-4555 and spoke with Kim Walker. I explained that I wished to file a formal complaint and explained what was happening with the service of my boat. I requested some type of discount on the repairs for my inconvenience. She said that she would call the store and speak with someone to inquire on what the problem was and why it was taking so long. I advised Kim that if this was the level or type of service that I could expect from their Tracker Marine Service dealers that I would never again buy one of their products. I advised Kim that I would call her back on 12-28-17 to check on the status of my complaint and her findings after talking with their Grapevine, Texas service center. In reviewing the Facebook page for the Bass Pro Shops Grapevine, Texas location it is my opinion that this does not appear to be an "isolated incident" but that other people have also had less than professional service and interactions with the Marine Service Department at this location. I hope that someone at the Tracker Marine Corporate Offices takes a very hard look at the type of Customer Service that this store location is providing to their loyal customers. read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so after my last experience with the service center. I brought my boat in to have some warranty work performed and a fish finder installed. They did a great job through the entire process. They were very accurate on how long it would take. There was even an issue that the manufacturer didn't want to cover under the warranty, but do to the circumstances the service manager basically covered the repair cost. He wanted to make sure I was happy with everything, and I can honestly say I am 100% satisfied. I also want to give a shout out to the parts department. They've always been very helpful and more than willing to go out of the way to answer questions. read more

I've had to come here three times in a span of two days. I've had two older men help me at the gun counter. I purchased a Taurus 1911 .45 ACP and a cleaning kit. odd customer service and felt like i was bugging the employees. I go home and come to find out the magazines and cleaning brush were missing! i wasn't paying attention at the gun counter as i felt i was being pushed out! Had my stepdad email Ted, the manager about the issue and Ted resolved it so well by replacing the magazines and giving me a cleaning kit, i was grateful and wasn't expecting anything crazy like that! it was awesome! THEN come to find out that the magazines for some reason didn't fit. had to go back and spoke to JOSH in the hunting department, He was very helpful and really friendly, Understood the frustration. THEN, he's the one to tell me about the points system that I WASN'T AWARE OF. My daughter wanted to purchase a knife and had been looking for about a month. We are new to the world of knives as we explained to the salesman. His name was Jim. Jim took the time to show my daughter the different types of knives and how they work. He had tremendous patience and knowledge, showing my daughter the different options she had to choose from.
