I really like the quality, selection and decor of this store. What makes it a deal-breaker and a "two star" is the lack of customer service. It consistently lacks personnel. During my visit today, it took 20 min to locate someone to unlock a fitting room. I had to ask 2 different clerks and go to 2 different departments to locate a key. I was instructed to leave it unlocked while I was in and out of the fitting room and please lock it when I was finished. While I was selecting another item to try on, I watched someone walk up to my fitting room and lock it!! Thankfully I had left no belongings in the fitting room. Of course, this concluded my shopping as I did not want to go searching again for a clerk. read more

I placed an order online to be picked up at the store. The store isn't open for shopping but is for order pickup. I received an email that my order was ready and I could pick it up at the Tacoma store. I went to the store to pick up. The doors were locked but there was a number to call. The number went straight to voice mail. I called the store number. No answer. I went to the back of the store to package pickup (per the instructions on the sign on the door) and rang the buzzer for 10 minutes with no answer. If they are going to offer a service, they should support it. Offering the ability to pick up an order and then not having staff there so you can pick it up is unacceptable. Don't waste people's time. Close completely if you can't deliver on what you promise. read more

Just had a phenomenal learning experience with Allen at the fishing section. He was the skinny Caucasian male/ 5'7 / around 50-55 years old. He mentored me on salmon river fishing and took his time to properly teach and recommended techniques me for future success. Exceptionally bad service. Waited at the gun counter for over 3 hours on a Thursday to be told they wouldn't be doing paperwork that day because of an error on their end. When we checked in, they had asked what we were there for and I had told them I needed to do paperwork. Lots of people being told the exact same thing and leaving unhappy. If they'd had a sign or told me at check in that they wouldn't be able to complete my paperwork I probably wouldn't be writing this review. They asked me to come back on Friday, which I couldn't make because I had to work. Came back on Saturday because I didn't want to take time off work to have a 3+ hour wait as soon as they opened. Employees on this Saturday are extremely rude and pushy. There's no space to wait at the gun counter so we've been walking around and as soon as I sat in one spot for 2 minutes I had an employee very rudely tell me to move along. I would have if I could! There's nowhere to go. Their pick a number system is worse than the DOL and DMV combined. Id give this place negative points for customer service if I could. I will be supporting a private FFL from now on or going to a local sporting goods store instead of a corporate conglomerate. read more

Bought a 22lr pistol and filled federal forms and was told I would get a email and a phone call. I called once about 3 weeks later and was told nothing has happened and I would be folded when. Called again another 2/3 weeks and was told first nothing in and then I was approved but only have 2 days to pick up before expired. Went in next day waited 3 hrs to be seen and was told 30 mins later that my request had expired. They told me they had called 3 times and no email was sent. My phone has 1 call I didn't answer that could've been from them. Very disappointed in service, was there approximately 4 hrs. When I asked, that I bought a guy I had to wait they number system and was 7 away. Even thou have 5-7 people working guns only 1/2 employees ever helped someone. My request probably expired while I waited. They need a system for people who have already went thru buying process and one for pickup. Will never buy a gun from here again. read more

Waited to purchase a gun for over half an hour. There were only 2 associates in that department on a weekend. One associate was working on a sale, while the other, a heavier set, older man was in a conversation the entire time with two other guys, who appeared to be friends and never made a purchase. Three possible customers also walked out during that time. Needless to say we made our purchase elsewhere. We will never return. read more

I was definitely disappointed with the service here. I made an online firearm purchase, get a notification to head to the store. Obviously hadn't completed the necessary forms so I attempt to contact the gun counter via phone for several minutes with no answer. Drove out of my way to go to the store only to walk in and see 3 employees, none of which answered the phone. Then find out they have an electronic waiting list for all firearm customers and I have to wait over an hour just to complete my paper and do it again when I come to pick up my firearm. I asked if I could make an appointment to come in and that was a no. Call the store to cancel my online purchase and was referred to the online team. I asked to be transferred since I was driving and was told she couldn't transfer me. Call the online team and my order couldn't be found. Luckily after several minutes of waiting, I canceled my order. I understand the impact from covid but there are so many roadblocks to the experience that have 0 to do with covid. Word of advice, if the process is broken then fix it. There are so many complaints about the gun counter just on yelp about the same issue... read more

The question remains, took Bass Pro Shops this long to open a store in the Puget sound area? A area known for its outdoor activities and everything seems a perfect fit for BPS! Ok, now with that being said, also went to the Grand Opening, this place will most certainly give Caellas and the other stores out here a run for their money, I will be returning that is for sure! They had a Country group playing as you entered the doors, and lots of good opening day sales, I wasnt one of the 1st 500 people so didnt get the gift card, but the place is well worth going to without any bribes! read more

Great place but I feel like every time I've gone into a bass pro shops they are mainly focused on clothing and other apparel then actual outdoor gear. Food used to be really good for example the Rancho Cucamonga location was extremely good then the last time I went in the food wasn't that great. But however this store does have some fishing lures that I haven't seen very often. But overall I would recommend going to this location cause it has lots of cool things to see! read more

Totally love this Disneyland for kids of all ages! Boats, guns, stylish clothing and AWESOME CLEARANCES GOING ON NOW! Staff were friendly as could be, even manager stopped by to greet us. They have easy and quick applications at 9% for in-store purchases too! More of coarse for out of store items. A couple of friends and family members didn't think they would qualify since they were extended after Christmas but were surprised to get one in less than five minutes on the spot! Even had us bypass lines when we left since we spent time getting card. So awesome! So friendly! Love my Disneyland for big kids! Tons better than camping world any day! Rah!, Rah!, Si boom Bah!!! Walked in around 4:45 yesterday wearing Crocs on our way home from a fishing trip on the Columbia and was accused of stealing our Crocs! Went to the bathroom and then walked around the store when a employee and security guard walked up and said we were seen near the bathroom wearing Crocs and that is where the Crocs are displayed. The bathroom is near the shoe section, do they stop everyone going to the bathroom wearing shoes? We were shocked and offended. I'll NEVER go back to that store... read more

I could not believe the FishBowl treated us like this. I have never been so disappointed in a company. We came to visit my daughter and decided to get pics with Santa. We decided to take them bowling and waited for 30 minutes and there were 11 of us. Well it's our turn at the counter and the gentleman that was going to help got side swiped with a person that kept asking if we were for the restaurant. She then proceeded to take a person behind us and made Doug help him and his child first. They lost out on 11 people ever coming back because of how rude that was. read more

They get two stars because they have a large selection of products but I've been here three times in the last couple weeks to make purchases over $200 and it took more than 20 minutes to locate an employee and then longer to find the person with the keys to the trail cam case. If you know what you want order it online. The people I finally got to help me were from different departments and couldn't even answer questions about the products. The first time I thought "eh it happens" but now we're 3 for 3 so apparently they need to hire more staff because it wasn't busy at all during any of the visits. read more

Worst customer service I've experienced. Specifically in the hunting department. Management in particular was terrible. Wasted half of my Saturday following the direction of idiots. I showed up shortly after they opened, went to the gun counter and reserved my spot in line (there is an inconspicuous sign with a QR code you must scan to reserve a spot). Waited about 30 minutes. Told the employee at the gun counter what I was there to buy. Went through all the paperwork. Two employees verified my information. Finally, they needed a manager to verify my information one more time. She noticed that my middle name on my driver's license was misspelled. A good catch on her part for sure. I work for the federal government and had my government ID with me, so I showed her that. She said they couldn't accept my government issued ID and that I needed to fix my middle name on my driver's license. Her coworker suggested that I simply go onto the DMV website and change the spelling of my name...they told me if I could show them that on my phone, they would continue with the sale. Well you can't change the name on your driver's license online, so then they told me to go to the DMV. I was frustrated but I understood the rule and took her direction to go to the DMV. At the DMV (after waiting of course) they were able to change the spelling of my middle name on my driver's license by referencing my government ID...yes, the same government ID that Bass Pro wouldn't accept. They printed off paper verification for me to use with my driver's license until they mail me the new piece of plastic. I take that DMV verification back to Bass Pro, reserved another spot in line, waited about 45 minutes, finally got called up to the counter again. I provided them with the driver's license update that they'd instructed me to get earlier in the day...they immediately tell me they can't complete the sale until my new plastic driver's license is mailed to me in a couple of weeks. At this point I was pissed because I literally just did what they instructed me to do. The employee then told me that if I had a government issued form of ID, he could complete the sale...WTF?! I had already shown them my government issued ID. I showed it to him again...and then he said he couldn't accept it...at that point, I felt like I was in some sort of prank video. I told him none of this made sense and he called his regional manager. After about 15 minutes of trying to get ahold of his regional manager, he told me they could only complete the sale of I brought in my passport. It was so ridiculous it was actually funny. I laughed and left Bass Pro for good. Don't waste your time. There are plenty of other sporting goods stores. read more

The lead cashier was rude and abrupt. Two lanes were open and I seen the 3rd register with someone at it and checking out. I approached the woman and asked if she was open still. She did not look at me nor did she smile. She looked down while helping a customer in front of her and spoke with disgust in her tone and a frown on her face and said," No you can stand back in that line. Those people were waiting a lot longer than you." I then asked her again if she was shutting down since she went and grabbed someone on the other side to checkout ? She responded again with disgust and an eye roll without even looking at me and said," I am helping only those in that line." I asked her if it's ok if I bring my spouse over since they've been in that line as well and the line is wrapping around. She responded again with disgust and still not looking at me while looking at the second customer she started helping and changed her response and said," no I will only take next in line. You can get back in line." I would have been ok with her response if she made eye contact and was nice and smiled and explained it better to me than change her response for me to finally understand NEXT in line only not what she originally stated THOSE IN LINE. Not acknowledging my existence by not even looking at me and frowning was so uncalled for. I didn't deserve the lack of respect or her tone. I deal with it enough in my profession that I expected better from someone in a customer service role and in a lead position at that. read more

A MAN'S MAN Review of Bass Pro Shop in Tacoma Ordering online is the cheaper way to go but I'm old school. I keep it gangster and I want to feel, touch, possibly taste it before I buy any item. I may have to change my ways soon because my experiences with trying to price match items lately have been some bad experiences because the associates do not even know their own price matching policies. I went in to purchase a saw. Yes, a saw. I want to cut down trees in the woods aiight? But anyhow... I wanted to price match a Gerber saw that was listed cheaper online at Walmart.com I was told by this old goat supposedly the cashier supervisor that they only price match other sporting good stores (Cabelas, Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Good). I called "Bullsh*t" so I pulled a b*tch move and called their own corporate Customer Service Center and was told they do price match Walmart.com but hold up... it doesn't get any better. The representative then said hold up let me ask my supervisor if we price match Walmart. I was then told that since Walmart is a whole seller and part of Sam's Wholesale Club they do not price match anything from Walmart. What the firetruck! What I really wanted to say was WTF but I'm trying to keep it cool here. If this place continues to have high mark-ups and MSRP prices this place will close down and be another vacant lot in the near future. The parking lot after the big opening hype is starting to look vacant already. Yeah, there's a bunch of cars parked up front but those cars belong to the employees and that old goat upfront. Try this sh*t at Walmart and your going to get some lowly paid Walmart associate tell you that they do not price match their own online prices. I know this for a fact said the lowly paid Walmart associate so I pulled another b*tch move and called for a supervisor/on-duty manager then to be told by their supervisor or on-duty manager that they DO price match their own online prices. Really pretty jewelry section. Easy parking and cute bathrooms. If REI and the NRA had a love child, it would be Brass Pro Shop. A mega mart of all things hunting, fishing, food/drink, and fun times in the form of bowling. Bass Pro likes to re-create the Grizzly Adams hunting lodge experience by setting up a cozy, fire-placed sitting area at the entrance, and mounted heads of various animals on the ceiling. Various stuffed animals are mounted near the ceiling along the perimeter of the main hallway, against the backdrop of a mural depicting outdoor scenes, and more animals greet you in different corners of the store. A large fish tank containing various freshwater fish is at the far end of the store, with various animals mounted in an idyllic forest scene. There's so much to look at you forget what you're really there for: an ENTIRE ROW of nothing but slingshots, guns of various sizes, deer licks in every variation, mosquito repellent, camping gear - all the equipment necessary for a successful first date. Actually, a friend brought me here looking for some socks, which - from the description on the Bass Pro website - was supposed to be the Holy Grail of socks, but turned out to be another imported disappointment. (My friend is a Sock Nazi.) We spent some time looking for the sock section, and nobody offered any help, though there were several sales staff milling about. Even after he asked one of the staff to help him, they did so only grudgingly. I assumed they were anxious to get back to the deer bait section. As a mega chain, Bass Pro does a good job of selling a wide range of products and educating the public about hunting and fishing. The large fish tank holding the fish that every fisherman/woman aspires to have a large placard to the side describing the various fish inside the tank. Bass Pro also does a good job of leveraging its brand name with "Uncle Buck's Fishbowl and Grill" - featuring a guy who resembles your creepy uncle. The fishbowl is actually a bowling alley surrounded by an underwater mural, so that it feels like you are bowling underwater, a good analogy to how I usually bowl - like a person who's jumped ship and drowning, unable to down any pins. While it was easy to find the entrance to the store (checkpoint turnstiles) it was difficult to figure out the exit. The staff at Bass Pro seem very hands off and I saw many shoppers wandering the aisles in a daze, looking like they needed assistance finding something (or perhaps they'd had a bit too much of the beer bacon). Plenty of parking at the front. Interesting for first-time visitors not into the hunting/fishing scene, but based on the service we saw here, we're not sure whether die-hard shoppers would find Bass Pro to be useful or a good bargain. read more

Nothing special. We came on the Sunday after it opened. It was crazy, crazy busy! I have been to another Bass Pro Outlet in another part of the US. The crowds will die down. There isn't really anything spectacular here. Everything is full retail. They have the same stuff at sportco but for more $. It's all hype folks. Nothing cabelas doesn't have. For the same price. Cabelas and this place are way over priced. You think all the fake wood facade and stuffed animals are free? BTW you could have done more with the ceiling. Exposed yellow colored I beams don't really fit your motif. Just sayin. Avoid if you want reasonably priced ANYTHING. read more

Here is the problem I am facing currently - terrible terrible service here. I finally ordered the rifle that I was hunting for 3 weeks and guess what? After I was charged and waited for almost a week, I checked the status of my order and saw that it was canceled. When I called to ask the reason, they told me that inventory was low and they apologize for that and when I emailed they told me that it's my fault because I did not go to pick it up. But guess what...I NEVER received any notifications that my order is ready to be picked up, when I say any I mean no emails, no phone calls, no status change in my account. So, now I need my order that I paid for. And yes, when they cancel my order, I did not even get my money back. This is insane. It feels like I was changed for that gun and then they sell it to someone else. Ridiculous, I am so pissed! All I want is my rifle. So, what are you going to do about it? Apologize again or blame me for something that was not my fault? I need my gun ASAP or I need you to return my money back and not in a week or 10 days, but now! read more

Okay, let me just say... I went to the Grand Opening a few hours ago!!! Now that that is out, what can I say about this place. I first heard about Bass Pro Shops sometime last year and I didn't realize there was one being built nearby so naturally I was super excited. Bass Pro Shops is new to me, so coming here for the first time it came down to will they impress me?... They sure as heck did!!! I enjoy going to Cabela's but this may be my new favorite place for outdoorsy gear:) The building is massive, I didn't realize when they were moving into the old Lowes building that they would be able to make use of the whole dang place!!! So far the exterior is amazing and the interior is just even better. Not only do they have Outdoor activities/products but they have a very inviting entrance with a huge fireplace and seating!!! They have a fish tank, a BOWLING ALLEY (whaaaat?!!!), and a restaurant. They sell everything from camping, hunting, boating, kayaking, hiking.... You name it!!! I'm just so excited to have this in the area. The Grand Opening was packed and I imagine it to be this way for days!!! Definitely a place to stop by and even if you don't buy anything right at that time it's wonderful just to browse and see what they have to offer. Worst experience EVER! Between the hours spent waiting in line (really hours!), while the sales people yack and yack nonsense with somebody, and the flat out lies into my face, I will NEVER go there again! Bass Pro's inventory systems is totally off, so do NOT order online! So I called the Tacoma store on the 16th of July before coming in, to check if the Browning 22 plinker pistol I wanted was in stock. No answer on the phone for three hours, period. Ok, I thought, they are busy, I get it, as I have worked retail myself for several years. I drove to the Tacoma store rather than ordering online, because the Lacey store had already verified they were out of another piece I had eyeballed there. The Browning was in the glass case, so I grabbed a number and waited ... and waited ... for an HOUR, while three employees at the counter were yacking and shooting the breeze with customers. It took three guys an hour to get through 6 customers! I would have been fired at my store for working like that! I couldn't believe what was going on and kept thinking they will speed things up any second. Wrong! Now we get to the paperwork, and I ask the guy how long the background check takes. He states they will get it the next day and call me tomorrow, so I can pick it up. So I wait until early afternoon the next day. No call. I call several times and somebody actually picks up to tell me that they don't info about background checks for anybody, and the background checks are now taking up to 3 weeks. So the guy who processed me had flat-out LIED to me about the next day pick-up. I don't mind a thorough background check, and if it takes three weeks, that is fine. What I have no tolerance for is liars, and this guy did lie straight to my face! Alright, so 11 days later, I get a surprise call. The check was a go, and I can pick up my target pistol! Pickup is supposed to jump the line, but grab a number, just in case. I drive there again and grab a number, since the pickup spot on the far right ... you guessed it, the employee is yacking away and telling anecdotes to the customer again, while people are waiting in an ever growing line! An HOUR later I finally got to the counter and another guy processed the release of the Browning to me. Turns out, they had not properly copied my driver's license number properly on 2 form sheets, with a different error on each sheet. If it were not for having to go through a new waiting period for the background check, I would have gotten a refund and walked out. As it was, the "simple and fast" pick-up took another 1-1/2 hours and left me royally mad at this store from hell! I get it that right now is a strange busy time. What I don't get is why these employees cannot just do the job and get to the next customer, instead of taking1/2 to 3/4 hour for one customer while yacking and yacking and yacking and ...... We accidentally came in the exit doors and wanted to see the main entrance, asked if we could go through and they said we had to go back over and leave through the exit and come back in the entrance. Really? We were two feet away with a disabled young girl and it was pouring rain! Bowling was a few hour wait so we decided to eat, they paged us when they had an open lane and we waited over 25 mins at the counter after being paged! No one knew what they were doing. read more

I dont write generally but that it. I bought 2 items from there. Both display item and they did not give me any discount. After 62 days (return period 60 days) i wanted to return. After 60 days they return only inspection basis. I use only 2 times (spinning rod and reel) and they told me it is scratched and dirty. Reel was in the box and scratched becaise display item. On the other side about rod, they told me dirty and they cant sell it back and this item is not their brand!!! These 2 items did not even get wet. If you want to buy something from there and something happens in couple weeks, they dont even care. Customer service sucks. (After long fight they accepted reel but I still have the rod) read more
