We visited Bassett as part of our journey down Route 17 to find a new couch. We were literally in the store for not even 10 minutes when a saleslady came up to us and started pressuring us into customizing a couch. We literally sat on the couch for like 30 seconds and it was the first couch when I walked in! I know she was probably trying to be helpful, but it just gave me a bad impression since it was so rushed. I didn't even really like anything I saw in here, it didn't meet our needs. While I understand you can customize a fabric etc, it wasn't really what we were looking for, and the pushy sales tactics certainly didn't make us want to come back. read more

I purchased 2 sofas from Bassett Furniture. I liked the fact that it was Made in America (Virginia) and expected that it would be high quality, so I did not mind paying the higher price. Maria Ciringione of Hartsdale was an outstanding sales lady to deal with. She was extremely patient and helpful. Her decorating expertise was excellent. We purchased a number of pieces of furniture through her and if there was a problem she got it straightened out. I would highly recommend her. Bassett was also a pleasure to deal with. There was a small crack in a drawer of a night table that was delivered and they noticed it right away and reported it To customer service. It was taken care of immediately and a new table was sent over as soon as possible. The whole experience was seamless and I would go back to Bassett again for furniture. read more

I just got off the phone with Basset Customer Service rep. He was very nice and polite. I a Bed frame from Basset 2 years ago. It was a Miriam Textured Pewter Queen Bed. It was all metal and appeared well made. However in 2 years one side of the bed collapsed. When I checked the metal frame had torn off of the Head Board. It just failed. Basset said the warranty had expired and there was nothing they could do except refer me to a company called Guardsmen who may be able to repair it. I thought when we purchased a metal bed that it would last a long time. Clearly the quality of bed was not good. I am extremely disappointed in Bass and will never purchase from or recommend them to anyone. read more

Bassett allowed hackers to steal customer data from their website for nearly two years. According to the letter I just received, hackers inserted a program into their website software. But hacker code increases the size of website software. A basic security practice is to monitor the size of the software to at least detect this type of attack. After every software change, the actual size should be checked against the expected size. I don't want to do business with a company that doesn't have basic security practices to protect customer data. Regardless of the quality of their products. read more

I should have read the Yelp reviews before ordering from this store. Furniture is ok, but they don't stand behind the quality and are not reliable nor honest. I received 2 of the same item and on one the finish was poorly done and looked defective. The sales rep said they would replace it. Instead they send out a furniture technician who used steel wool and a touch up pen on a NEW piece of furniture and told me it was fine. He asked me to sign a paper about his service, as I said I appreciated his effort, but that the item still looked bad. I was then told by the sales rep that I had signed a form attesting that the furniture was fixed. On another order they failed to load a rug pad into the truck and delivery people said they didn't have it. I had a rug pad from a rug purchased elsewhere that didn't need one and they used it. Now the store is claiming I received the pad and won't credit me. They asked me to return the rug pad! How could I return a rug pad their delivery crew used knowing it wasn't their product? This is their attitude with a customer who spent thousands at their store. This Bassett location is not interested in quality or even standard customer service. There are many other furniture stores on Rte. 17 that would appreciate the business. read more

If there was an option for ZERO stars, that would be my rating. I bought furniture (which is beautiful) from Bassett 4 years ago. My light grey couch was a concern but the sales person said "dont worry, there is coverage so within 5 years call them and they will clean it for you". So, 4 years later I called to get someone to clean all the stains on the couch and the cleaning company refused saying they only come out for an accidental spill ONCE. This is NOT what the salesperson assured me during my purchasing of the sofa. Additionally, i bought an accent chair that now has HOLES in the seat. HOLES. i called to get that repaired and the team said "we don't cover normal wear and tear". So are you telling me that i can't sit on my chair? that its NORMAL for a chair to have holes in the seat? I bought a solid couch from Crate and Barrel 15 years ago and the couch looks like it is brand new. Worst customer service. My wife and I recently purchased approximately 20,000 dollars in furniture from Bassett Furniture in Livingston NJ. Not only did it take twice as long to get as promised, however when it was finally delivered and positioned wrong we called to have it moved and they refused. Called the manager and could seem to care less as they were already paid and had no intention of coming back to satisfy our minimal needs to make us happy. Think twice before you shop there. Once they are paid your done. Not really into going on Yelp and complaining, however their attitude was less then professional. read more

Finally I went up to the group and one lady started to help me , then handed me over to another sales woman who seemed to be very nice. Her name was Linda Karen ,who by the was was not there the next time I went back. Before a year my fabric, was pilling and looked worn. They said they don't carry that fabric any more.For a very expensive sectional ,with what they call a performance fabric, I never expected this to happen. the only thing they offered me was a shaver ,and told me to do this myself. WORST FURNITURE STORE EXPERIENCE EVER!!! The quality appears to be good in the store but once received delivery immediately had an issue with poor quality. Drivers took pix and I called the store immediately. THEY NEVER FOLLOW UP. It has been months since I took delivery and I am still trying to get a resolution to the ridiculously expensive furniture that I could have gotten at Bob's or Job Lot or any similar place with the quality of furniture I got from Bassett. I have been trying to reach them and they do not reply to emails, when I called the manager was "in a meeting" and I was told to hold on, Ruth said she would get someone to speak to me in his absence. After being on hold for 10 minutes she came back on the line and HUNG UP. I called back again and she said, Oh, I will put you on hold -- and I said, Wait! Why? Her reply? To speak with the person you need to speak to. Again on hold for over 5 minutes and just gave up, which clearly is what they are wishing for. I wanted to take the time out of my excessively busy day to commend one of your design consultants in the Paramus NJ store. Ramon Roman has been a dream-come-true to my husband and I. We moved into a large home in Wyckoff recently, and had lots of rooms to fill with furniture. Knowing the excellent Bassett quality, that was my/our first and only choice to make purchases. The pure luck of us having Ramon take us on when we walked into the store on Route 17 (and not sales-pushy, nor pressuring in any way) was our pure luck! He has been so wonderful with us. Not only did he help us pick out beautiful furniture taking in both my husband and my very different tastes and wants, but he met us in our home and took proper measurements, and laid out a floor plan design to perfection. He follows through with his clients, and watches over their order, emails to keep you apprised. This is the customer service I give to my own clients in my marketing role, and what I expect and always don't always get when retail shopping. To say he goes above and beyond is not empty words coming from a person with high customer service expectations either! We enjoyed working with him so much, that when we needed our next purchase, we went right back to the store and asked for him. We will continue to do the same with anything else we need. Ramon also offered to come take curtain measurements when we're ready, and has made excellent recommendations on paint colors for our home. This is a true design consultant, and he is such an amazing asset to your Bassett family in Paramus (and to our family as well)! We are awaiting our next delivery which should be arriving next week, and I know we will be exceptionally pleased. Thank you for employing such a terrific young man as Ramon! Quite possibly the worst shopping experience I've every had. Especially for the prices and perceived good reputation. Don't be fooled. Long delays, lost furniture, crushed lampshades, no proactive follow up, unresponsive, I could go on. I reported them to the BBB. As an example, I purchased the floor model of a table and 4 chairs. It was in the Paramus store, it took 5 months to deliver--they lost the legs because the warehouse apparently moved locations, so they had to make new ones, then they misplaced the table leafs. A nightmare. Since I had more furniture to buy, I went to Ethan Allen and had a terrific experience. read more

Shortly after purchasing what we thought were high end sofas, we noticed the fabric started to pill, despite cleaning them properly. When we contacted Bassett, we were told the sofas could not be fixed or replaced as "pilling" is not covered under the warranty. The only thing that was offered to us was an electric fabric shaver (which still did not help). Up until this experience, we viewed Bassett as a high end furniture store, however, we are so disappointed by, not only the quality of their products, but the lack of customer service in this company. read more

Purchasing from Bassett furniture has truly been the worst shopping experience I've had. I was looking around at different furniture stores to furnish my newly purchased home and decided to use Bassett because their website stated 30 days guaranteed delivery. After I purchased two beds, I received an email from the green brook store stating that it would be delivered in 6 to 8 weeks. Although I was disappointed by this, I decided to not stress it. Finally 5 weeks later, I received notification that 1 of my beds would be available for delivery. The delivery window provided was between 1pm and 3pm. As I am writing this review right now, it is 9:39pm and I am still waiting for the delivery of the bed. I was notified by the green brook store that the delivery truck broke down. Aside from this being unbelievable the nonchalant behavior of everyone involved is just disappointing. I will never purchase anything from this store again. The Service has been awful. read more

Ordered a sofa sectional and they sent me a cheaper piece because they discontinued the one I had ordered - they never refunded me for the price difference and they never informed me that they were switching it out for a cheaper piece. Not to mention it arrived over a month after the scheduled delivery date and their customer service is horrible. Their turnover is so high so the person I ordered from wasn't working there when I received the incorrect piece and then their manager also left so I had to explain the situation multiple times to people who accused me of making the errors! read more

He TRULY knows what he's doing, has a terrific eye, and is incredibly helpful. The showroom looks great. New product all the time, terrific sales every few months, and the product always comes in looking exactly as specified. I feel so compelled to write this Review about how happy, pleased, and satisfied I was with Bassett Furniture in Paramus N.J. and the design consultant Etta who helped me with my order. My husband and I purchase our first house in Monroe, NY, and we wanted to have pieces that were so unique that no one we knew would have. We first went to the Bassett Warehouse in Middletown NY and we saw a beautiful table we thought would be perfect for our home. However we did not like the base of the table, a sales person at the Warehouse suggested that we can go online and customize our order. I suggested to my husband that I would like to go into the store, and thank goodness we did because that is how we met Etta. She was so sweet and kind to me, my husband, and my toddler that was walking and touching everything. She saw the table top we wanted (live cut edge) and matched it with the perfect base. She helped me pick out the fabric for the chairs and bench. Etta brought to life the image in my head. I can't thank her enough for the time she took just to go over every detail and made sure it was perfect to my liking before we placed our order. Great big store with lots of choices. I paid way too much for poor quality furniture. First delivery I received the wrong color chairs. Had to wait a few weeks for the new ones. Also the delivery team put the toggle on the couch in the wrong place.so my couch was set up crooked.When I called the driver back ,he told me to just try to even it out. After about 2 weeks we moved the coffee table to shampoo the rugs. What a hidden mess of poor quality. When the correct chairs arrived , the arms were bubbling and the fabric was not tucked correctly. they had to send a tech to steam out the bubbles. After the second tech came out to remove the toggle, We noticed the pillows on the couch do not line up . They are too big for the couch . I have called several times and complained , each time they are nice and say they will try to help us. They sent us another coffee table, equally poor quality. We are totally upset with this . i really expected better furniture from this company. I received the furniture in October 2012, paid in full. This is April 12. 2013 And my issues are still not resolved. Sept 21,2013 Just to bring you up to date with this saga ,, It has gotten worse ! Bassett sent a man out to fix the issues with the crooked seams and the pillows on the couch don't lay correctly, they stick up in the middle . . He made it worse. I am at the breaking point. I would not recommend this Bassett location. The staff were blathered talking when we walked in, and we actually had to approach them for service. When someone finally made eye contact with us, she suggested that another salesperson assist us, and he literally *whined* that she should work with us instead of him. As the rest of the seemingly unbusy staff sad looking uninterested. The woman who did eventually show us around was pleasant enough, but the entire experience was honestly soured pretty early on. Ordered a sectional sofa. Took a day off from work for delivery. The guys brought only 2 out of 3 pieces. Called Bassett in Paramus at 1:30pm and was told they'd investigate and get back to me. Around 3:30pm I called the delivery company in CT myself. They immediately investigated, found the missing piece in a NJ warehouse and set up a new delivery time within a few minutes. At 5:30pm, Bassett called (4 hours after the original call for help) to take credit for fixing everything. The representative argued with me that THEY called the delivery company, found the missing piece and had the delivery company call me to set up a new time! Seriously?! I got so angry!! I had made the call and set up EVERYTHING! Bassett was anything but helpful and even fought with me on the phone after all of this!! Never again!! If I could give Bassett Furniture of Paramus, NJ less than 1 star I would. Their customer service is the worst I've ever encountered in my entire life. I spent $5000 on a bedroom set in which they make you pay in full prior to the delivery of the furniture (that should be a red flag right there- to show that this company does not stand behind the quality of their furniture.). Our furniture arrives and immediately I notice that the dresser is damaged. I called Bassett and I'm told that a man named Percy will be calling me to discuss the damage with in 48 hours- it never happened. I proceeded to call Bassett furniture and email 15 times within the last 4 weeks. No one has ever returned my calls- every single time I must call them. I've gotten the complete run around- from "the manager was let go", to " Marlene will be calling you back". Finally, a week ago they said I would be receiving a new dresser and someone would be calling me to schedule delivery early this week- I have not heard from anyone. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE from this place. For the amount of money you spend you would expect that excellent customer service would be of utmost importance to them. It's the complete opposite.
