the chili rellenos is the fullest plate with rice and beans; excellent, the bowl is Napolitano Pasta with fresh tomatoes and basil

Wednesday dinner was at Bastos and excellent as always, he had pasta Napolitana with rolls from Chedraui, $160p, I had beef relleno $180, 2 XX $90, total $430p, $20.66US I can't begin to describe the quality of the meal. Chef made the Napolitano with fresh tomatoes and basil, added parm cheese and I don't know what else. My fresh poblano pepper relleno was packed with tender slices of moist beef and some other stuff, creamy and moist.......tomato sauce and crema over the top, incredible. For $430 pesos??

    Waiting for our delicious meal

Such a tasty spot in the middle of Isla Mujeres we found it on trip advisor / Yelp and they lived up to the reviews! Best food I have had in Mexico thus far, the quesadillas tasted like a mix with a calzone. It was crispy but soft and the cheese was melt in your mouth. Not sure if I will ever be back to Mujeres but if I am I know where to go.

Pictured are grilled chicken tacos. Very good!

Arrived via taxi from our resort. (We didn't have our golf cart yet). Don't let the outside appearance fool you. It is definitely a hole in the wall on a side street outside the touristy area. This place is a gem though. We really wanted to find something authentic and this fit the bill. It is also conveniently across from a little grocery store to stock up on water. All the food was excellent and the waiter (probably owner) was great. Love finding these little restaurants. Please go and you won't be disappointed.

My family and I enjoying good food and good times at Isla de Mujeres.

Small little place, when we arrived it wasn't what I expected (not in a negative way) I guess more resturan t style a.c., etc.... it doesn't have a.c. their restroom are not in The best conditions but we are here for the food and service right. The food is tasty amazing. I got the steamed salmon so so good,my daughter got the chicken flautas yummy, and my husband the enchiladas all way satisfying! And the staff is attentive and friendly.

Well ..... this place is the best! It's small and the service was a little slow but you don't care cuz the food makes up for it !! The shrimp parsley was amazing ! The steaks! The enchiladas !! The salsa ! The nachos! Wow! I mean you can't go wrong !! Go here ! Avoid dinner rush on a weekend

What's left of our steak tacos and beans and rice.

Omg......when I tell u slap your mama good. How did we come across this lil grill. I'll tell u how. We took a 15 min walk from the hotel in search of another taco spot and found this place. And I'm so glad. When I tell I I've never been a fan of pico de Gallo this place changed my mind. It came free with the complimentary chips and salsa and it set the mood for the rest of the meal. I've never enjoyed pico de Gallo in the states. Actually hated it. But let me tell u they did it so right. Have to get it here. This is what was left. We had the steak tacos. And the beans and rice was poppin. Soooooo yummy. Gabriel our waiter worked w our non espanol speaking asses and got us exactly what we wanted. What a great start to our Christmas vacation. Thanks for staying open for us on Xmas eve. - just 2 girls from Maryland.

The complimentary chips and salsa were as fresh as it gets.

This time was even better. The kids were running in the streets. I can't wait for my tacos! Service was perfect and food was great. This place is outstanding but not for some people. If you understand what I'm saying then you should bring your friends and family here 3 times every week. If you are put off by this review then you should stay at your all-inclusive hotel and enjoy the crappy food. The food, cold beer and service here are excellent. Steak tacos, chips, salsas, guacamole and everything else is dynamite. You are dining close to the authentic streets of Isla. If you or your significant others are fragile about this concept then you can try something else. Great food and great service. The dive bar across the street is great for dancing off your dinner. I was the only gringo at the bar afterwards but the locals were very inviting and I had a great time. 3 steak tacos, guacamole, salsas, pico, fresh chips(upon request)one margarita and one orange Fanta for 240 pesos($12 USD). . My server Gabriel was excellent again.

Everything we have ever got there has been excellent. Wynne gone there a couple times each to the last few years. I strongly encourage you to go. I love the enchiladas suiza and my husband loves the lobster thermadore. The prices are super reasonable. They are closed on Thursdays so don't wait to go! Oh, and the locals go there too and that's a good sign.

Don't be put off that this place is on a little residential street nowhere near the water or other restaurants. This was by far the best dinner we had while here in Isla Mujeres but not the most expensive. Service and servings are great! Order a lemonade and they bring you a glass of lemonade plus your own little pitcher of lemonade for refills. I had the garlic butter lobster tail. Hubby had a special beef dish with a strange name. Wish we could have eaten there every day.

Basto's grill is off the beaten path however, it is worth the trip. I got the grilled salmon that was delicious!! My daughter how is so picky actually made a " happy plate" with her grilled chicken and homemade fries and pasta. Get off Hidalgo street and come visit!

We drove our golf cart through the area where Maria's is, and because of the reviews we saw, my friends and I decided to give this place a try for lunch. Right off the bat, the best part of eating/coming here is the view. The area is secluded and you need to go down a small path to get to it. Once you make it down the little path, you'll see a beautiful little outdoor dining area that overlooks a pool and the beautiful ocean. The food was probably a 2/5 but the view was very nice and the service was good too, so that brought the score up to 3/5. My friends and I were looking for good, authentic Mexican food, which unfortunately Maria's is not. While we were sitting down, the waiter brought us free chips and salsa which were good. For my lunch, I ordered 3 shrimp tacos which were not cheap (at all) and came with like 3 TINY shrimps per taco. The photos they have in their menu are very deceiving and inaccurate. The flavor was ok but it was so plain and so stingy on the shrimp. I was really surprised (in a bad way) with this meal. My friend tried the chicken tacos which were better than the shrimp, but still nothing special at all. The shrimp ceviche was also extremely lacking shrimp. Unfortunately I feel like the food we ate at Maria's was the same as the Mexican food I would eat at an average Mexican restaurant in my hometown in the Midwest USA. All in all, since the best thing here is the view and the service, maybe it would be better to stop by for a drink rather than a meal.

Coffee was great, friendly...highly reccomend you give this local place a try for breakfast! **UPDATE** We came back to try dinner a day later and it was wonderful! My husband had the whole fried fish and it was delicious! I chose the shrimp fajitas which came with grilled onions & peppers. We both had rice and small salad.
