If you want a great veggie burger with sweet potato fries, this is the place. I went there during lunch hours this past week. There was a line and folks packing the tables. This isn't my first rodeo here, but now I'm not eating meat. Batata doesn't fail to satisfy. My one suggestion is to call in your order or place your order in person. Do not order on line. Through no fault of theirs Batata has an intermediary,BRINGMETHAT. And probably other restaurants as well. These folks charge a fee to call in the order for you. I didn't realize that. I thought Batata charged the fee for ordering on line. I thought I had paid the fee and for the food. When I went to pick up my order, and the waitress asked for my card, I thought I was being double billed. I showed her the pending fee on my bank app. She didn't recognize it, stating I didn't order it on line. We went back and forth for a minute before I angrily took my food and left not wanting to cause a scene. It wasn't until I wrote BRINGMETHAT to complain about Batata that I realized BRINGMETHAT was the butt of the problem. Not properly informing the customer or the restaurant of their services is duplicitous. We don't need a third party interfering and calling in orders FOR A FEE when you can call directly to the restaurant FOR FREE. read more

Wish they had more flavors of GTs kombucha (but ill live) prices aren't cheap but considering you're getting healthy organic ingredients the prices are very fair. one of the best little spots in northport, never heard anybody who didn't like it no matter what type of diet they have! read more

I came here on suggestion from a coworker. What a great little place for lunch! I stopped in here on Friday at noon and the staff was very friendly. I forget the name of the sandwich I got but it had chicken, goat cheese and a balsamic dressing... this sandwich was DIVINE. I only meant to eat half but wound up eating the whole thing... oops. I want to give Batata a better rating than 3-stars for so many reasons but I just can't. I also realized that most of the reasons I won't give it more stars won't even matter to its fanbase so the point is moot, but I want people to know what they should expect, because I'm one of the people who respects what they are trying to do here. Are you thoroughly confused by my opening paragraph? So Batata is certainly putting organic ingredients and healthy choices at the forefront. Very respectable, especially because their prices really are reasonable. It just didn't translate into the food as well as I would have hoped. I ordered the Angry New Yorker breakfast burrito, which was: three eggs, sweet fennel sausage, grape tomato, jalapeno pepper & cheddar cheese in a wrap. The ingredients were clearly fresh, clearly high quality. What the ingredients were not: flavorful. This is to be expected, I guess, because I'm sure the eggs and sausage were not cooked on a buttery, greasy surface. And they did not add any salt to it, nor was the sausage salty. I understand why, because those things are unhealthy and go against the principles of Batata. The tomato and jalapeno were a nice touch, the pepper really was the only kick to the whole burrito. It could have used more cheese too (again, unhealthy). So I added a bunch of salt and ketchup to the wrap and it was vastly improved. At $5.75, especially with the side of fruit, though, this wrap is a good deal, but this morning I ate an egg sandwich AND coffee at the forever-perfect Seport Deli and that $4.25 is a much better deal. My girlfriend got their blueberry pancakes. Her sentiment was exactly the same as mine, they were a little bland. But, I covered some in butter and doused them in syrup and thought they were good after that! Also, their pancakes are over a half inch thick and are large enough that they could be used as hubcaps on a 94 Honda Civic DX (13" to the layperson). There were three of those humongous bad boys. We also picked up a corn muffin. It was very dense and also very, uh, healthy tasting. As with the other items, when covered in butter, it was good. I thought their coffee was okay, it was reminiscent of Starbucks, i.e. a little bitter, and very strong. My last comment - I normally knock a full star off for places that don't take American Express but do take all other credit cards. I'm not going to do that in this case, but if I was on the fence about giving them 4-stars or 3-stars, that just may be the deciding factor! read more

Between my fiancé getting hit with a garbage bag being thrown over the counter ( it was empty ) between employees, then when deciding what to order employees talking and staring at us which if it were just me dining I would've walked out, and also ordering strictly vegan items then getting a sandwich with meat on it. I was extremely disappointed with the service at this location, I will say the food was ok but service needs immediate improvement or more supervision. I will not be back. read more

Came here for brunch after a 5k in Northport based in yelper ratings and was not disappointed. Great fresh, local feel backed up by good food. Had the "angry new Yorker" burrito with fresh squeezed oj. Delicious! Also tried the blueberry pancake ... Not as good as The amazing ones I had in Maine but not bad, definitely made with fresh blueberries. My son had the sweet potato fries. They were perfect. The corn soup was also great. Batata is one of my favorite spots in the area for lunch. It offers a lot of healthy, made to order options that really stand out from the usual pizza, burger, and deli joints that, unfortunately, comprise a significant majority of the lunch options in Suffolk County. My classic go to is the California Chicken sandwich, a breaded chicken breast filet served with sliced avocado, swiss cheese, and alfalfa sprouts. Really hits the spot well, and takes you away from the monotony of typical Suffolk county fast food. I will warn you, though, that the price is a little steep, as an average sandwich will ring you up around $10 dollars excluding drinks. For a lunch of this quality that is really quite hard to find in this part of Long Island, it's definitely worth a trip out here during your lunch hour. read more

God awful service. Absolutely terrible. I'm highly allergic to dairy and the female server did not understand this and kept trying to give me items with dairy. The staff messed up my boyfriend's order and gave him a sandwich drenched in meat (he doesn't eat meat) and told us they must of given his food to someone else. They were promt about fixing it though. My food was decent but not worth the hassle. I will say that I had bought a vegan ice cream sandwich from their freezer called Sweet Annabelles and that was simply amazing. However, we weren't rude to the staff and even tipped but the service was jusy truly awful. Order two different items from menu. I made it clear that I did not want onions on either. I said it three times and the cashier repeated me to confirm this. Sure enough, got home and both items had onions in them. It was really a pain in the ass pulling all the onions out of my pulled pork sandwich with melted cheddar on it. Super annoyed. read more

Not gonna lie the food here is good. Different flavored and so much to choose from. Prices are a little bit pricey but I guess it's worth it. The only reason why I give this place four stars is because there was a female server who looked extremely sloppy. I had a tomato vegetable garden soup and a chef's salad and it was by far amazing. Compared to all the food I've had in Northport this is a nice healthy change. My company ordered lunch from here but eventually I am going to actually visit the establishment because the food was really good. I've been coming here since I was in middle school (2006/2007) and have never had a bad experience. The sandwiches and veggie burgers are fantastic. Homemade potato chips are out of this world. But today I ordered a beet and arugula salad with chicken on top. Everything was per usual but I found a full sized green cricket mixed in with my greens. The girls behind the counter were surprised and grossed out and immediately showed the kitchen staff. They gave us a full refund on the salad and explained that their lettuce and salads come pre washed and package so it must've been a bad bag of arugula. I would probably come back in the future because this has never happened before and their sandwiches are so good, but I will not be ordering salads from them anymore. The establishment is very clean so I do believe it truly was just a bad bag of greens. read more

Somewhere in cyberspace floats an old review by me wherein I lament the ton of salt in their seitan. I tried to find it in order to change it but to no avail. I still will not recommend any sandwich or wrap containing seitan; however, I highly recommend all their fresh vegan food, because you can order it "without salt," and it will be delicious. Cases in point: the Power Veggie Protein Wrap with Cilantro Aioli, the Falafel Wrap with Maple Tahini, the Veggie Burger (without the non-vegan sauce), the Waffle Fries, the Potato Chips. They have won over this old vegan with their freshly made wraps. I hope the staff will taste that salty seitan and look for a non-salty version. In the meantime, avoid the seitan and order "without salt, please." read more
