My friends and I desperately wanted brunch on New Years day. As covid has ravaged many many restaurants as far as "take out only", limited menu items, pre mixed drinks (barf) and so on and so forth, we combined forces to find a brunch spot worthy of our ambitions to bring in 2022. Hence, batch and brine which I so lovingly refer to as "brunch and brine" now because their brunch is hands down AMAZING. I hope you come hungry because this menu is packed with sweet and savory flavors that'll have you begging for more. The CHICKEN AND WAFFLE BITES were the perfect starter option for our ravenously hungry asses. We each got one and also got a taste of what the actual chicken and waffles might taste like (except the brunch dish has more sweet to the savory while the bites are more savory). For the main dish, I had the SOUTHERN BENEDICT. Yes and yes and yes. Their hollandaise sauce reminds me of Denica's (if youve ever been) because of it's light flavor and texture. Eggs were a poached perfection. Chicken was juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside just like it should be. Biscuit was plush and delicious. Rosemary potatoes My friends had the CHILAQUILES and BISCUIT AND GRAVY entrees. No complaints. But ask for hot sauce if you want some extra spice. To add to this delightful experience, the drinks are absolutely amazing. This is coming from a person who doesn't really drink and two people who love their cocktails. We decided we needed to get out of our normal eat in routine and actually go out with the kids. We ventured into lovely downtown Lafayette and enjoyed an outside meal at Batch & Brine. It appeared that there was quiet a bit of a wait, but the hostess got us in right away. We sat down in the back and people watched as we waited on our meals. To ease our hunger we ordered some wings to start as an appetizer. They were great. Adult beverages came quickly, but the children did not get their drinks till after their main courses arrived. Steve got a burger and I ordered a chicken salad. The kids ordered a kids meal of some type. All around it was a great meal and the food tasted fresh and yummy. I would frequent this place again, but next time, I would like to try one of their desserts. read more

This is a great lunch/dinner spot if you want a burger or gourmet sandwich of some sort. It's a huge place with plenty of seating and a nice outdoor patio area. I had the Merguez, which is a spicy lamb burger. It was SO delicious. The aioli was amazing and I loved the red pepper in the sandwich. The pretzel bun was a little heavy but it was still good. The side salad was an underwhelming bowl of lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes in it. My friend got a side of fries, and they were underseasoned but crispy enough. He also had the fried chicken sandwich and the bite that I tasted was delicious. He also had a vanilla milkshake which was huge! It was pretty good, nothing special. Long story short, the sandwiches/burgers are amazing! Worth the visit. read more

A great outdoor dining spot, beautified by succulent walls and artwork. Very spacious and tables are well distanced. Even indoor dining opens up to the outdoors by huge sliding windows. Wow what a spot! We decided to stop in the area on our way home from work and Batch & Brine was a great pick. First off, our waiter Steven, was the best! He was very kind and offered his recommendations in which we happened to get a lot of. He had quite a few tables but he was able to get to everyone while still being attentive to make sure people got what they needed. Nice work! We got there just in time for happy hour so that made everything even better haha! The drinks were so tasty and had the perfect balance of alcohol and flavor. Get the garlic Parmesan fries! Not overly garlic and the fries had a good crisp on them. My boyfriend ate the street tacos and the fried chicken sandwich, he loved them both. I had the kale Cesar and the taquitos (not pictured). Wow. I had been craving a good kale Cesar and I definitely finished that whole thing. The taquitos had a good filling and that avocado creama was the cherry on top. I was excited to try this place out and outside was so beautiful and warm with the heaters! We tried many dishes & I'm Beyond satisfied. I haven't found an 5 star burger restaurant like this one. Batch & Brine consistently delivers authentic and creative food and cocktails. My girlfriend and I go at least once every couple of weeks to enjoy the experience. There are a few staples we go back to (kale caesar, taquitos, hot chopped chicken salad, chicken sliders, garlic/parm fries). I also highly recommend their burgers. come for brunch on the weekend. they serve great Benedicts (crab is the best), very tasty micheladas, and a variety of juice for mimosas. A hidden gem in Lafayette. Want to come back for taco Tuesday. We had the fried burrata , Mephis wings , I had the adult grilled cheese that was just ok nothing to rave about and we also had the bacon Mac and cheese and the crispy chicken sandwich. Came here on a Saturday morning and we were surprised to be seated immediately! We ordered the chilaquiles, which came with chicken-it was okay. I wish the chips were more crunchy but overall I feel the dish could be a little bit more flavorful. The breakfast burrito was super tasty, it could easily be shared with how heavy it is. We got the southern scramble, as recommended by the waitress. Definitely the staple! The chicken was nice and juicy and the egg was poached to perfection! We got the Jolla daisy sauce on the side, which I feel is always a must with Benedict's. The Parmesan garlic fries were the star! We were able to sub them out for the potatoes, the way to go! Came here on a Weekday and there was plenty of seating outdoor and indoor. Service was extremely attentive and our host was very nice. The food was surprisingly good. We got their version of the scotch egg, the pastrami sandwich, and burger. The taste, texture, and presentation of the falafel scotch egg was amazing - highly recommend this dish. The burger was the surprising dish here. The peppercorn burger put a lot of gourmet burger joints to shame and this place isn't even a burger place specifically. Meaty, moist, and juicy - can't complain here. The home made pastrami was also solid, didn't know this from reading the menu, but it came with a spicy aioli type of sauce. First time trying with a group for a long awaited moms night out. We arrive at 6:45 with a reservation for 10. Reservation was made 1 month in advance and confirmed earlier that morning. We arrive no table available ok we are a little early so I won't complain. Then at 7:00 we are told by one person that they gave away our table and then another said they forgot about us (We are the only people of color here....just saying not a good look) but they can find us a table outside maybe NO THANKS at night and it is cold..nope even with the heat lamp they offered nope. The manager did keep checking in with us and we were finally seated about 7:30. The manager did offer us 2 appetizers for the inconvenience. The appetizer chicken wings & ribs were good. When we finally ordered and our servers were great. The food however was not something I would come back for. Garlic fries were ok but needed salt. I thought maybe it was just me but others thought the same. My Nashville chicken sliders looked really good but no seasoning on the chicken and not even a hint of hot. Then when I ask for hot sauce to try to add some heat to the chicken, they charge me an extra 1.00 for it. I am not being petty I don't mind paying for hot sauce but this was not hot either... looked like some kind of chili sauce not good. My drink was good I believe it was a Serrano Hermano. Let me start off by saying the food was absolutely amazing it was all delicious, everything we got. However, our server was super rude and unprofessional. First of all he didn't greet us until another couple sat down, so we waited 10 minutes even though it wasn't busy and for him to greet his new table first. Of course, he took our order which came out wrong. We ordered two burgers and one of them came out with no meat. No meat?? On a burger?? I then ordered a side of fries with a sauce and a shake to go. I was charged for all of the above however the sauce was wrong and I did not receive the shake. In the end we went up to the window to ask for the Shake we never received and the waitress was super sweet and she gave us the shake plus an extra. I have worked as a server and the service we received from our specific server was terrible, however everyone else was extremely sweet. Not as great as I thought it would be. The brunch pops were amazing. The brunch menu online is outdated and they no longer offer millionaire bacon. We ordered the southern Benedict's and the chicken and waffles, they were good but not amazing. We also had an order of fries which aren't "hand cut" just like the orange juice in the mimosa isn't fresh. Service was slow at the bar, with people behind it more concerned about speaking to each other than refilling a glass of Diet Coke that was finished midway through the entree. Came here for a linner before the St Mary's game and most everything was very good. I can't remember the name of my burger but I got it with grilled chicken and it had balsamic arugula and blue cheese I would put it in my top 10 best chicken sandwiches. The poke nachos were delicious but we asked for additional wontons which we never received. The pretzel was good but a little cold, and the buratta toast was really good but again we asked for more bread along with the wontons and it never came. My husband really liked his cheesesteak up until he got a big piece of fat, which was odd being in a cheesesteak. My brother loved that he was able to get any burger with the impossible meat and really liked his. My son said the pork Mac&Cheese was really good but his fries came out way late but at least they were fresh and hot. Over all really good but not consistent and poor execution with some of the service. I will definitely give it another try cause like I said my chicken sandwich was fantastic. read more

I was finally able to visit B&B this past Saturday and they did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I arrived around 12:30pm and we were seated at a nice two top by the window right away. The space is a lot smaller than I expected but their decor is really nice and modern. I ordered the southern Benedict and my boyfriend tried their L.E.S sandwich (reuben but with pastrami). My benedict was very good but I would've preferred more hollandaise sauce. The chicken was nice and crispy. They use a biscuit instead of english muffin for this specific benedict which was a nice touch. The breakfast potatoes were unfortunately, very underwhelming. Lacked flavor and basically tasted like nothing. I had to add a ton of salt and pepper. The food runner brought me what looked like homemade hot sauce and it was delicious! The L.E.S. sandwich was very yummy! Not oily at all and had a nice portion of protein. We did order a single waffle for us to share but it never came out. I'm guessing the server forgot to put the order in because it wasn't even on our check. We didn't bother to ask about it because we were pretty full from our main meals but just unfortunate that she totally forgot about it. We cannot wait to come back and try more! It was pouring rain the day we came but they have a nice patio area that we can't wait to check out when spring/summer arrives! Batch & Brine is the latest addition to downtown Lafayette's dining scene. Located next to Pizza Antica, this family-owned restaurant specializes in artisan burgers and sandwiches made with fresh, organic ingredients. It opened a few weeks ago and has garnered quite a bit of attention from local residents and Bay Area foodies. Lured by some of the great pictures posted here, my friend E and I came here last Saturday at 11 am for a late brunch/early lunch. As we walked towards the entrance, I was immediately impressed by the architecture. The design looked very modern and vibrant and the living wall on the outside was done nicely. I later found out it was the work of the same firm that designed all the Blue Bottle Coffee locations. Out front, there was a patio with several tables. I also spotted a long counter-type table on the alley side of the restaurant. We were greeted by one of the servers upon entering and she seated us at a table inside, near the patio area. There was a beautiful mural above the indoor bar area. The vibe was lively. TVs were showing the World Cup game between Belgium and Tunisia. One thing I did not like was the leather seating. The hot sun and leather created a very hazardous condition for my rear end and thighs, even though I had jeans on. By the end of the meal, my thighs were a perfect medium well (E had shorts on...imagine what would happen to her if she had sat there instead of me...well done thighs?). :-P Jamie, our server, came by to introduce herself. I recognized her immediately from my coaching days. She was one of my players! We did a quick catch up before ordering the following: - PBJ Stuffed French Toast ($13) - Chicken Fried Rib Eye ($16) Our food arrived relatively quickly. Both plates were presented beautifully. I had the rib eye and it was very good. The petite piece of rib eye steak (4 oz or so) was very tender. The exterior coating was crunchy and spiced well. The gravy had a nice, spicy kick to it. I wish they would put a bit more on the steak because it was so good! The sunny-side up eggs were perfectly cooked. The runny yolks complemented the steak nicely. Potatoes had a nice, crisp exterior and were flavorful. The only disappointment was the biscuit. It was a bit on the dry side. E seemed to enjoy her food as well. Service was very good. Jamie was attentive and efficient. One of the owners, Celina, came by to check on us as well. She was very nice and we even took a picture together! With T/T, the two dishes, plus a fountain drink, was just a little over $40. I must say, E and I had an excellent dining experience here. We have already made plans to come back to try their burgers and sandwiches. Batch & Brine is a fantastic addition to the Lamorinda area. It is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.
