I like how the items are nicely displayed and packaged. Picked up two vegan cupcakes (for the vegan son), brown rice rice krispy treat, a peanut butter gf cookie and mocha and pineapple cupcakes. So moist and the sweetness of the frosting was perfect.. I also like variety of items.. if one wasn't in the mood for a cupcake you have different options to chose from.. Didn't know Batch had a second location. It was a nice surprise. Happened to be in the shopping center for other reasons and upon driving out noticed Batch and the sweet tooth pulled into a spot to check it out. Nice little shop with sitting areas, both inside and out. Pet friendly and great paleo and vegan options. I was in the area and was in the mood for a sweet treat. The shop is cute and fairly small. The sales girl that rang me up was kind. The aesthetic appeal of the location and baked goods was nice, but would like to see that transcend into the quality and taste of the cupcakes. I have frequented the location in Midtown in the past, and have enjoyed their strawberry cupcake. I took my cupcake to-go and was hoping to get the same taste and quality as their Midtown location. Not sure but based on my visit, I had great customer experience, and went home with delicious fresh cupcakes and cookies, which I thought were reasonably priced for the quality (ingredients were few and well-chosen, zero preservatives/additives/unnecessary flavoring,coloring.) On a bit of a sugar high, I opened up Yelp to leave a sweet review after sampling my goodies, when I noticed then the negative ones. We stopped by her whine on a road trip in town to pick up cupcakes for an impromptu birthday celebration. The shop was very cozy, clean and welcoming. We came by late in the afternoon and the selection of cupcakes was very limited. We were disappointed that there were no Milk 'n Cookies or Red Velvet cupcakes remaining but that's on us, we got there late in the baking day! We chose Mint Chocolate Chip and Cookie Dough cupcakes. The Cookie Dough cupcakes were pretty good but the Mint Chocolate was very disappointing. The chocolate cake was veerrrryyy dry and frosting was also a bit dry. Those cupcakes ended up going untouched at the party. The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and very welcoming!! He was patient with all of our questions and tried to provide some recommendations for flavors that were available that late in the day. Second time getting cupcakes from this location over a 2 year span. First time was extremely disappointing with dry, flavorless, way overpriced cupcakes. Second time my husband got a dozen to surprise me for my birthday this week. I figured he forgot we didn't like them the first time around but if this place has managed to stay open this long, then maybe a second chance is warranted. NOPE! A cute little pastry shop in the Foothills shopping center. It's decor is lovely, but I do wish they had more option to choose from in terms of pastries. They have several specialty pastries geared towards vegans and Paleo eaters which is great to see. At first glance I didn't see anything that stood out to me and I needed to have. I settled on a chocolate chip cookie. It was good but nothing spectacular. The staff working the day I went it was so friendly and answered any questions we had about the pastries. This location is one of two and is located in South Creek Plaza in South Reno and while it doesn't have a kitchen, their cupcakes and baked goods are delivered fresh daily from their main location in Midtown. What sets this shop apart from other shops is that they also cater to other dietary needs, offering gluten free, keto, paleo, and vegan options. When you eat these options, you'll never know because they're just as delicious as cupcakes made with regular flour and dairy, if not better. My absolute favorite cupcake in the shop is their gluten free pumpkin cupcake with cream cheese frosting. It's moist with supreme pumpkin flavor and is nicely balanced with the perfect amount of cream cheese and sweetness. Other favorites include frostbite (mint chocolate), apple streusel (vanilla cake, apple filling, cream cheese frosting topped with graham crackers and caramel), and pucker up (lemon). As with every other shop, I like to try a variety of flavors to find my favorites. Batch Cupcakery's cupcakes shine with simplicity and freshness. Because this location doesn't have its own kitchen, you may find that some cupcakes will sell out. I like to call ahead of time to double check that the flavors I seek are available. I always use Batch for special occasions like birthdays and get togethers. Their cupcakes also make great gifts for people with sweet tooths. With what few cupcake spots we have in town, I'm glad that Batch is super tasty and legit. Whoa... first time trying this place and unfortunately I won't be back. The cupcakes were dry and crumbly; they didn't taste fresh. I am not sure if they were actually old cupcakes or just bad texture but either way they came across as stale. This was a consistent review from everyone in our group (we bought half a dozen cupcakes of different varieties)-- and we didn't even order anything unique like vegan or gluten free. My 4 1/2 year old didn't even protest when it was time to leave even though he still had bites of cupcake left. Also, the tables are so low (the table top is at your knee height); it's incredibly uncomfortable and adds to the crumbs going everywhere (I can see why the worker was standing ready with her broom and pan). I'll give 2 stars just because it was a cute shop and it visually looked like it could have potential but man what an incredible disappointment for a little treat that's a couple times the price of a donut. read more

Batch is a cute little shop with a friendly staff. That being said, take the word "cupcakery" quite literally. There is not very much to choose from. There are cupcakes, of course, and a few cookies to choose from. I got the brown rice "crispy treats" and something called a "caveman" snack bar. The rice crispy treats were actually quite good. I did low-key enjoy the "caveman" bars. The flavor was good, but the texture is...."brick-y" comes to mind. If you get those, I highly recommend a hot cup of coffee or tea for dunking. i have gone to this bakery many times and had no previous problems. however, i went to pick up my cupcake order that included a gluten free cupcake, as my family member has severe celiac disease and therefore cannot have gluten. this also includes no cross contamination from items with gluten. after i had placed my order, i even called the store to confirm the gf cupcake would be in a separate box so it doesn't get contaminated. i was told "yes of course. we keep all of our gluten free items separate." however, i went to pick up my order and what do you know? the gf cupcake was in the same box as the regular ones and touching them. also the cupcakes were flipped over inside the box, clearly not packaged with care. i asked if they had another gf pumpkin cupcake because this is what i ordered, i was told no and none of the other locations had any either. i then had to pick a different flavor that i didn't order because of the bakery's mistake. i took precaution and this still happened. i also received the wrong strawberry cupcake for my order after i had checked the box. the staff was not very accommodating to my family member's allergy despite them "having" gluten free options. i highly suggest going to another bakery if you have an allergy like this. please take better care of your customers. read more

Happy to see Batch cupcakes in South Reno instead of trekking into Midtown to give this place a try. I went in twice, for good measure, on grand opening weekend and then the following weekend. My first visit was OK, staff didn't really have much customer service skill or the friendliness you'd expect when going into a bakery. The options were slim that weekend because we came in the late afternoon, I scored a s'more cupcake and a dairy free chocolate ganache cupcake. Both moist and delicious. The second weekend I decided to stop in to see if I could try one of the flavors that they advertise is in stock but no luck. The customer service again, awful, and probably worse than the first visit. The staff that weekend were reluctant to greet and let alone help. The female and male just stared at each other as if they were cringing to serve, the male wanted to get to the couch I guess. I had asked if one of the pantry items were vegan and got the response "if that's what the sign says" well okay thanks for that...your signs are all over the place and don't really indicate that they belong to that particular product. Again the cupcake offerings were pretty much vanilla and vanilla...they one with coconut that I wanted to try and I said the name that was on the sign next to the cupcake and the gal was like I don't know which one that is cause we don't have any signage on our sign so I confirmed that it was in fact the avalanche or whatever. And why is it both times I've visited, I am asked if I'm from around here? Is it because I'm not a typical white woman with blonde hair blue eyes? Yes, I'm from here I live in hills that can see the shopping center from my home. The ambience here is dark, not bright, not a happy feeling kind of place as if you go into crumbl cookies or Kara's or Sprinkles. I wanted this to be better. Some of the complaints were for service but I thought the women was very sweet and personable to me and my son. We got 3 cupcakes - toffee, chocolate and Tahoe. All three were dry as my grandmother's brisket. The frosting was grainy like the sugar wasn't mixed well or bakers sugar not used. The cupcake itself was crumbling and not moist. We came in around 2pm so these cupcakes shouldn't have been that old or dry. I can't justify paying $4 bucks for a cupcake that doesn't WOW me. The customer service was disappointing at best the kid behind the counter behavior "was like somebody was holding a gun to his head to make him work". I want to love them so badly. It's such a cute shop. The people who work there are so sweet and kind. The cup cakes however are lacking. I did a special order a few months ago because I needed vegan and gluten free cupcakes for an event. Gave my order over the phone to the person who picked up and ordered 6 different flavors for a total of 6 cupcakes. She told me all the cupcakes flavors could be made vegan so I chose 6. When I went to pick them up there were 12 special made cupcakes but only had three flavors. Being flexible and not caring I accepted the order and paid for the extra 6 cupcakes and didn't complain about the mix up in flavors, it was a time crunch and I didn't really care. The cupcakes were dry and the icing was super oily. The pineapple filling was just sitting on top and didn't go into the cupcake. No matter what the flavor it was a basic chocolate or vanilla cupcake with limited topping to call it whatever it was. They were beautiful though and being vegan and gluten free you get what you get when it comes to texture and moisture when it comes to them so they were alright for what they were. Came back yesterday and bought a handful more for an event. This time not gluten free or vegan. Excited this time since they were traditional however the disappointment continued. The flavor was just put on top. The cupcake itself was just basic chocolate or yellow cake no matter the flavor. The cookie dough just had a piece of cookie dough on top with no other flavoring. And the cupcake themselves were pretty dry and the texture was just off. Not bad by any means but for the price I expect a lot more. The lemon one was super good but the cake was just a yellow cake and the only great part was the top. Disappointing and won't be back. The cupcakes were dense and dry. They hardly had any frosting to help cut the dryness of the cake and even worse it was grainy. I bought a variety dozen, only they were essentially all the same. Vanilla cake, cream cheese frosting and a micro amount of fruit pie filling. They didn't even have the filling down into the cupcake. It was the worst 44$ I have spent in a while. If I could have returned them I would have. So I went in and although I didn't have a problem with the customer service, I did have a problem with the $4 price point based on the quality of the cupcake. I have to say that these really didn't have much to them. The Oreo cupcake was simply a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting and a small sprinkle of Oreo on top. For that price you expect them to be pretty decadent. The strawberry one looked like a child put the frosting on. It's frustrating because South Reno really needs more places like this, but they really could do more to make the cupcake worth $4. Awesome place to get eggless cake. Staff is excellent and they went above and beyond to ensure that they can make a cake for our 10th anniversary and made it deliver to the hotel we stayed.
