I travel often and this kind of hiccup happens more than it should. My membership had technically been canceled for next month, yet somehow it was already deactivated. I had even tanned just last week in Austin, so I was frustrated and fully expected to be turned away like I have been in the past. But Kayla completely changed that experience. The moment I walked in, she complimented me--something small, but it made my whole day after a long 9-6. She didn't just shrug off the issue; she took the time to call two Austin locations to figure it out and still let me tan. That's never happened before. I've had plenty of run-ins like this, and no one's ever been this helpful or kind. Kayla was professional, friendly, and genuinely wanted to help. Thanks to her, I got to tan before a big training week, and now I feel confident walking in on day one. I'm seriously so grateful. The rest of the visit felt cold and uncomfortable, especially for a store that seems geared toward families, children, and pets. The bath bombs themselves are great--they smell amazing, look fun, and my kids love them. But the staff experience was a huge letdown. My son politely asked to use the bathroom, and no one responded to him. Only when I stepped in did we get an answer. It felt dismissive and, frankly, pretty rude. There are also "do not touch" signs everywhere, which makes it really hard for kids to engage with the products. At one point, my son accidentally dropped a bath bomb we were planning to purchase. I immediately informed management that we intended to purchase it, and we did. In response, the manager told me I needed to help my children get things off the shelf--implying that the accident could've been avoided if I had intervened. I understand wanting to keep displays in good condition, but this just made the experience feel even more unwelcoming and tense. It's especially frustrating because this shop is just a few minutes from my home. But honestly? I'd rather make the hour-long drive to Lush. There, the staff are kind, engaged, and actually enjoy interacting with kids. They make the experience fun and inclusive, which makes all the difference. Rather than acknowledge or address my concerns with any professionalism, the owner has now doubled down, claiming their response is "valid." This only reinforces my belief that respectful customer feedback is not welcome here, and that public shaming is being used as a tool to silence criticism. For any families considering visiting this location: I encourage you to read both the original review and the owner's responses carefully. Customer service should be grounded in professionalism, empathy, and accountability--not personal attacks. I love popping into Amy's Hallmark Shop when I am in San Antonio, TX. It is next door to places…read morethat I frequent in the Quarry shopping center. Super charming shop with many items to choose from...great gift shop. They have a plethora of greeting cards, candy, travel mugs, stuffed animals, glasses, etc. to name just a few. It is quite enjoyable to peruse the items they are featuring at the time. One of my main attractions are their sales racks - 90% off, 75% off and 50% off. I scored some 75% off gift bags with hearts on them and the word Love which I can use all year long. The store staff always greet you when you come in and point you to where you need to go. Sometimes, they even walk you to the area. Overall, great shopping trip! Look forward to returning in the future...
