Having eaten in Paris, I can attest to the authenticity of Rochambeau, especially the escargot. I've been here a number of times, mostly in the early 2020s where we sat outside during warm weather, and always had great times. It was a treat to finally come back for a family member's birthday dinner. We sat inside which I don't remember having been in, and it's a nice calming space and not too busy. The menu is a bit different from before, but just as impressive. All of us went for this excellent fixed dinner option of NY strip steak in a delicious sauce, baguettes, a great salad, and bottomless frites! You could also substitute the steak for mussels. We also got a side order of spinach and started with lemon garlic herb escargot, which I remember from before and tasted just as wonderful and rich as it always had. Everything was delicious, and the service was great too. They even brought us a slice of butter cake with ice cream which I loved. While it isn't the easiest to find or get to, Rochambeau is a superb restaurant in Back Bay that comes highly recommended. read more

Service was excellent! My server was from Bogota, Colombia (I think her name was Sofia?) and made sure I was happy with the experience. She recommended multiple items and I went with the octopus and truffle burrata and they were both great. The kitchen forgot to put the honey truffle so obviously there was no truffle flavor, so when I told her she came and brought the honey to drizzle on top. Then she brought me a birthday dessert since I told her it was my bday. The inside is romantic and cozy. You can sit outside, downstairs or upstairs. From my previous experience, the flavors of the food at the steak room changed little. Everything was delicious - salad, bread, steak, and fries. Even the butter wasn't refrigerater cold this time. Offering was $37, only up $2 from my previous visit. However, everything around it proved disappointing. Only the fries were now bottomless; the salad and bread were not. What really killed this dinner was the service. I went at 10pm with the mutual understanding discussed with the server that the kitchen would close before 11 (their official closing hours). No problem, I could front load some fries. The service for most of the meal was acceptable. However, almost at the dot on 11, I could not find any wait staff to pay the bill. I saw BOH staff leave for 20 minutes without seeing a single server. I had to barge into the kitchen. Does this place not have protocol to check for diners finishing their meals during closing? The food flavors themselves warrant 4*. -1* for eliminating bottomless salad and bread. Having to hunt down wait staff like I'm at a neighborhood HK Style Cafe type restaurant actively pisses me off and makes me want to swear off this place and proactively prevent others from dining here. read more

For the final day of my Boston trip I wanted to find a nice date spot for my lady and I, and I think we got it. The second floor ambience was exactly what I was hoping for, and the service was great as well. I had heard the french onion soup was incredible, and even though I don't care too much for it typically, I enjoyed theirs quite a bit! Not disappointed But what brought this from a 4 to 5 was the duck dinner entree. The duck was so tender and flavorful, the potatoes had a wonderful texture, and the plum sauce tied everything together beautifully. I would go back just for that. read more

The tuna nicoise salad was very flavorful but there were too many things in it (they could have left out the cucumbers and artichokes). I stopped at Rochambeau on a trip to Boston after seeing multiple recommendations to eat there, and I completely understand why now. I do have to take off a star because of a scheduling issue, but rest assured, it has nothing to do with the food. All sites (including their own) stated dinner started at 4, but when I arrived at 4:20, I was told I needed to wait until 5 because they only had enough staff to handle a private event. I had a flight to catch and was on a schedule, so this was quite frustrating. I had a great experience once I was seated. I started with the baguette, and it was fantastic. It was crunchy and buttery, and the salted butter served with it was creamy and delightful. The dining area is beautifully decorated and contributed to the overall ambiance of the meal. The stars of the show were the wood-fired sirloin and frites. Many people had commented on the fries at Rochambeau, and they were right to do so. They were perfectly cooked, and the bernaise served with the steak was excellent for dipping. The steak was incredibly tender, and the herbed butter on top was delicious. Something to note that I found odd: fountain drinks do not come with free refills, and they are $4 each. Be mindful of this if you are thirsty! Overall, I loved Rochambeau, and it has been added to my list of regular spots when I am in town. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago after seeing it on TikTok, and it was just as good as everyone said! The weather was perfect, so my husband and I sat outside before heading to the baseball game. We started with mimosas (they have an awesome bottle deal, but we just stuck to one this time). We decided to stop by based on a recommendation from a friend who said their Brioche French Toast is really good. Well they weren't wrong! I didn't order it but I had the pleasure of cleaning up a plate! The slices of toast are really thick but light and airy. I'm not a big fan of banana in my food unless it's banana bread but it was definitely good. It served as a really good dessert for me! I ordered the Duck Hash because I like duck and hash and to have them together seemed too good to be true! So the duck wasn't really all that tasty. It could have used a little more seasoning but it really lacked that duck flavor. The duck itself sat on top of the potato hash which itself was nice and light. The poached eggs were done perfectly and again the bread, was nice. I didn't taste the Salmon Avocado Toast but it was all gobbled up with nothing but crumbs left on the plate so I assume it was good! I also had a Bloody Mary and it was nice and spicy. Came here for a grad dinner with family and the service was lovely. I did struggle to make a reservation over the phone so I came in person to book the reservation. Originally I was looking to book an 11 person reservation which they were very accommodating for even though I was only booking less than two weeks in advance for grad weekend. My plans changed to a smaller party. We enjoyed the steak tartare and truffled burrata to start. I split the crispy duck breast and wood grilled sirloin with my grandma and both were delicious! I loved the duck the best. My dad order the cassoulet and a side of grilled asparagus and seemed quite happy. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse and they even brought us a complimentary dessert new to their menu to enjoy. Some friends and I came in for brunch at 10am on a Sunday and were able to grab a table right away upstairs. The space is beautiful with an art deco vibe and great ambiance. Shortly after we arrived a jazz singer came in which added even more to the experience. We had cappuccinos and Bloody Marys which were excellent and perfectly balanced. Another friend ordered sparkling wine which was just ok so she added a side of orange juice which surprisingly came with ice. I can't say I've seen ice in a juice that wasn't a cocktail. We split the lemon ricotta pancakes that were fluffy served with whipped cream and berries. They were fantastic and a perfect pop of sweetness. I ordered the mussels and frites which were great and served with a tomato based broth. They had great flavor and I used a spoon to eat as much as possible. I made this reservation about three weeks prior because I flew in town for my graduation and I was so excited to try it. I saw the octopus on the menu and I couldn't wait for some fresh octopus so close to the water. Well.. when I ordered the octopus the server informed me that they were out.. Instead, we ordered a dozen oysters, the Tuna Crudo, the Steak Tartare, Shrimp Cocktail and Salmon with Ceasars Salad. The oysters were delicious and fresh, very enjoyable. The Tuna Crudo was also fresh and it had really good flavor and the sour dough pn the side was a nice touch. The Shrimp Cocktail was simple but so so fresh that it was so delicious! Some of the best shrimp I've had yet. The Samon was seared perfectly that it was crispy without making the Salmon dry! And the Ceasar Salad was so fresh and dressed perfectly as well. After our meal, they brought out a swan ice cream dessert because we were celebrating and the server poured a chocolate sauce on it. It was okay but the bread was not good quality sometimes kind of got stale while eating it. And the Moltent Lava cake was pretty good, perfectly gooey in the center and very enjoyable. The inside of the restaurant was very beautiful and inviting with lots of ambient lighting. Overall, the food was pretty decent. The lemon ricotta pancakes were topped with fresh berries and definitely was our favorite of the two dishes. My friend doesn't really liked eggs but she said she enjoyed the eggs Benedict! Went by for brunch and everything was delicious. The menu has a French focus and lots to choose from as well as some American brunch staples. I got the French toast with caramelized bananas and it was so good and moist. It was a pretty large portion so I took some to go. The side of bacon is also enough to share. My friend got the eggs Benedict crabcake and he loved it. Would definitely recommend on end over the crabcake appetizer as it's the same price. The crab cake had lots of crab meat too. Our drinks were also great, I highly recommend trying the coffee cocktails; they are a nice departure from a classic espresso martini. Rochambeau was the second stop during my best friend's birthday evening this Friday. We had a reservation for 5 people at 8 p.m. and they led us upstairs when we arrived. The restaurant is so pretty - very chic and full of greenery. They have single stall bathrooms that were well maintained. I ordered the bolognese, which I thought was rich and yummy, as well as Deux Rose cocktail. If you like rosé and sweet drinks you'll like this! The other girls at the table also enjoyed their drinks, which included an Assesino Viejo, Soleil Spritz and a Lemon Drop. Our server Diego was very polite and you could tell he really wanted to provide good service. Unfortunately there were a couple times he brought out the wrong item, which may have been because it was loud in the restaurant and we were in a booth. He allowed the birthday girl to choose a dessert and we sang happy birthday, but she asked for chocolate cake and he brought out a creme brulee. She didn't mind and we still enjoyed the the treat.
