This particular Batteries Plus nearly doubled their price on their standard watch battery replacement from $8.99 to $15.99 effective August 2015. I got a really bad feeling from the young gentleman at the counter since he was clearly trying to push the $15.99 lifetime warranty price so I contacted management. The manager said that "all Batteries Plus" stores are now charging $15.99 for this "lifetime warranty" service. So, I called his bluff. I went to the next closest Batteries Plus, got my watch battery replaced for $8.99. If you go to any other Batteries Plus, you can still get a one-time watch battery replacement for $8.99. It was that simple. Just go to any other Battery Plus, excluding this one on Burnet. So sad because I used to really enjoy going to this one. Maybe the management and staff at this location is pressured to upsell the "lifetime warranty" watch repair. It's not a terribly bad price for lifetime warranty, but customers should have the option to choose. Luckily, at any other Batteries Plus store in Austin (except for this one) you have a choice. Leaving my review below since it's still accurate for other Batteries Plus stores in town. Tip: In the process, I also researched other places in Austin, and I actually found a GREAT place called Time Masters that's locally owned, highly rated, AND less expensive than Batteries Plus. read more

Every time I go here, the staff is SOOOO very helpful. The second you get there, they almost always greet you in a real way, not a canned response way. Not even the teachers at my kids' preschool remember to do that and the teachers have a sign in their classroom to telling them so! My friend was there one time and an employee came out to a ladies' car to help her carry in her heavy car battery. They nicely and simply explain to me exactly what I do and don't need. I needed a new battery for a watch, and since I have the manual dexterity of a toddler, I decided to take it in to be serviced by a pro. On a Sunday, all the jewelry repair shops were closed, but this joint was ready to help me at 10am. Boy, were they ready. It took them all of about 90 seconds to open that sucker up, address the problem, and send me on my way. It was such a simple process they didn't even charge me. I could see the door being locked and the lights going out from across the street. Was I too late? No not at all. After going to 2 other stores (Heb) (best buy) they had the battery I needed that was a super positive. We needed a battery for a Lexus car remote The guy at the counter was very helpful and got her the battery she needed then he started talking something about some kind of warranty and how we could replace it at any location. Never set any expectations that the warranty was extra however when he rang us up the total price was almost $15. Four dollars and change for the battery and over $11 of warranty are they crazy? He actually tried to sneak it in there like we weren't going to notice. They tried to pull a Jiffy Lube when they used to scare women into thinking they needed $30 air filters and fuel filters. Warning ! Do NOT take your batteries for disposal to this place! Yesterday I went in to get light bulbs and at the same time take in batteries which I have always taken there for disposal. They are always friendly and yesterday was no exception........but at checkout he said we now charge for taking your batteries. They weighed them and it was 13 pounds and they charge $1.85 per pound to dispose of them. Thus I was charged $24.05 for them to throw away the batteries . I should have turned around and walked out with my batteries and dispose of them myself, but I was in a state of shock and paid and walked out. Very , very dumb on my part. I feel like I was taken advantage of,,,,,,,,,they could have said we will take these today, but do you know we now charge for doing this. If I was told this as I handed them to the person I do believe I would NOT have left them there. I really feel like a fool for paying $24.05, but no more. Store personnel programmed two auto keyfobs for me. I am quite satisfied. Both fobs were acquired through mail order but they matched the original manufacturers' products. One was for a '18 Honda CRV and the other a '16 Mazda CX-5. They were frank with the steps required and warned of possible failure modes, but they encountered no problems with the work. Both keyfobs work fine. Incidentally, the cars had to be on-site. I estimate I saved about $120-$160 over dealers' prices. read more

These guys are awesome! Very friendly from the moment I walked in with my super weird (and extremely old) battery request. Of course they know what it is I need (a battery for my 1969 Polaroid), but they also know they don't have it at this store. No problem! They're immediately on the phone with their store on S. Lamar and they have it there. Would I like it delivered? Nice! (I declined, I was going down south anyway, so I went and picked it up myself.) But I also noticed the teamwork going on with the sales crew. Always an eye on the door and to new customers coming in and making sure someone was always able to help. It was really great to see. This review is overdue ... I went into Batteries Plus off Burnet to get replace the battery in my iPhone. I was excited to find a $10 off coupon on their website and scheduled my appointment. As the gentleman was working on my phone, I decided to leave to run a quick errand and come back. I came back to a store filled with smoke ... my phone had exploded. This was a freak accident, and thank goodness no one was injured. I was told I was going to get a replacement phone at no charge ... which is amazing! I went back the next morning to meet the manager, and was given a temp store phone while they looked for mine. In less than a week, I returned to swap my temp phone for my new one. We all get customer service everywhere we go, and it is rare that you walk away thinking to yourself, "I wouldn't have handled it any better than they did." Which is exactly what my thought was when I left. I will definitely be returning for all my battery, and repair, needs. read more

Tremendous experience!!! I went in as a small flashlight I had previously purchased had taken a turn for the worse. I was greeted by Tino, Sales Manager, who promptly said, "no problem," and immediately handed me a brand new one! No fuss, no muss. I came here several times to have my screen replaced on my iPhone and the screen continues to get worse instead of better. Don't get your iPhone screen fixed anywhere other than Apple! I usually take my watch to Batteries+ to have the battery replaced. When I went in this year, they insisted on charging me for the battery because I wasn't in their system - even though I've been there before. My husband, who has gone there too, didn't know about their "system" either. To make matters worse, the hulk who was putting in the battery broke the crystal. They promised to take the watch to a jeweler to have the crystal replaced at their expense. That was 2 weeks ago. I called to see what the hold up was only to find out that they' still haven't even taken the watch to the jeweler! The person I talked to protested that they were just soooo busy! I asked if I could take it myself. Sure, if I wanted to pay for the repair myself - and for the battery to boot. I don't know when to expect the watch at this point. The service I received at the Burnet Road store in Austin was not only bad, it was insulting. I purchased an X2-14 battery for my ATV in November of 2012. X2's come with a 24 month warranty. It did not hold a charge very long and didn't respond well to attempts to charge it. When I took it in, both clerks (Chris and Kevin) interrupted me before I could complete any initial questions. Some of the questions I wanted to ask were "can you check to see if this battery will hold a charge?" Or "Can you look up the purchase date and let me know the warranty information on this battery?" Chris said it was a 5 year old battery before asking any questions or attempting to verify a purchase. This was based on looking at the hand-placed sticker that comes on these batteries. The sticker has a single letter and single number code on it, like L9 or M9. Mine was one of those and they said the 9 meant that it was made in 2009. Again before asking any questions, he said "that's a nice long life for a battery. What do you want me to do? Sell you a new one?" I asked him to test it and look up my receipt.. He tested it and confirmed it was dead and also looked up my purchase and said "you bought a battery like this battery in November of 2012. " He said there was no way they would have sold me a 3 year old battery in 2012 because they sell too many every month. At this point, I am getting accused of trying to fraud them by swapping an old battery under a more recent receipt. I wanted to help them find any identifying evidence that could let them know I am not lying. (Always a great spot to be in as a customer that purchased a product that is still under warranty.) I asked if there was another way to match the battery to the receipt like a serial number? Or is there a place on the receipt that shows the month/year the battery was manufactured that would correspond to the sticker they place on the battery? There was not for either. Can you call other stores and see if I have ever purchased anything from them? (I asked this because I have never purchased anything else from any BPB.) He said we can only see purchase history for our franchise locations. Do I have any purchase history with them? No. While Chris was talking to Scott (the manager) on the phone, I asked Kevin what the 3 meant on all the other batteries on their shelf. He informed me that this meant they were made in 2013. I asked, so you sell one year old batteries? Yes, he said. But you just told me you sell so many every month that there is no way it could have been a 3 year old battery? He said, yes, there is no way. No way. Meanwhile I am wondering if you sell so many why do you have one year old batteries still on the shelf? Plus, telling a customer "No way" and "We are right" is a great way take care of the customer. They said they could sell me a new battery but there was nothing they could do with the old battery since it was out of warranty. I didn't own the ATV until late 2012 so I never would have bought a battery before that. There was clearly a chance to seek to understand my situation that they not only missed, but they directly disputed in front of other customers, essentially accused me of lying and offered no course for resolution. They told me the manager was not in the store and that I could call him and gave me his card. The number on that card rang back to the store. I asked to speak to him on his mobile and they said I could not, even though they had just got done speaking with him on his mobile. I couldn't understand why they could talk to the store manager but I could not (since he was clearly available to take their call). They told me Scott would call me back within an hour. Two hours later, I had to call Scott myself who continued to cast doubt on the validity of my receipt and request. I apologized to him for "disrupting" any of their other business but I assured him it was only because I was essentially being accused of trying to fraud them and not getting any reasonable answers to my requests. He let me know he would take care of my situation and by that, he meant he would sell me a new one at his cost. $70 for a new battery. This is not what I would consider "taking care of me" considering my original battery under warranty. Exhausted at that point, I let him know that would be fine and ended the call. Rather than deal with this company or location any more, I decided to buy a replacement battery at full retail from a competitor, even though my defective battery was under warranty and should have been replaced. read more

Went to this Batteries Plus location for a watch battery. The watch worked fine when I went into the store, but I could tell the display was starting to dim. I won't go into all of the details. Suffice it to say that once the battery was replaced the watch didn't work properly. It is a long story and in the end the manager gave me $20 to go away. Now I have to spend my time and gas to find another watch. Perhaps their other batteries are a good deal, but beware of their staff changing your watch batteries. It turns out they lost a tiny little spring that causes the alarm to beep. Might be better to go to a jeweler. Jewelers are not that much more expensive. Would have been worth it to me. Hit or miss. Have had great service and have had horrible service, all depends on who you see that day and their mood. When on their game they are hard to beat, but when "junior" waits on you he drums up an excuse on why something is out of his "allowed range" before he even hears you out. Well, where to start.. I've bought a LOT of stuff from this store over many years for both personal and corporate and have been very happy with the products and service: car batteries, laptop battiers, specialty ones and last year I purchased a pretty very expensive X2 (https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-24m/sli24agmdpm) It was, in fact, recommended by the folks at the store FOR this application. Recently, the battery wasn't working and it wouldn't charge on my home charger either. For clarity, my home charger is fairly expensive digital charger. I took the battery in and spoke with one of the guys there. He told me he'd need to test it and try to get a charge on it. I told him, it's not taking a change and my charger says the battery is bad. So, I dropped it off and they said they'd call in a couple of hours, which they did. I got a call later that day and they said it failed to charge and for me to come to the store and they'd swap it under warranty. I arrived and immediately the guy I'd been talking to got on the phone, he was all the sudden hesitant. Then another guy got on the phone and after a short conversation told me the manager said they MUST get it to a full charge(12+V) in order to warranty. I asked the guy, what if it's a bad cell, he said it would still charge, which I tried to argue with, because that's just not right for most batteries, maybe this one's different. So, the manager intervened and told them I'd need to wait again, a few days, even AFTER they told me it would be under warranty. His initial argument was it had been sitting and neglected. Sure, it does sit sometimes, it's for a camper! I also, generally remove it between uses and place it in the garage, on a cabinet, not the ground. It had worked just a few weeks prior and I test and charge it on a regular basis. So, I got a call (voice mail) a few days later saying the battery wouldn't take a charge and they would NOT warranty the battery. They said they wouldn't warranty because of my neglect. I really don't understand how I neglected it. Frustrated, I pulled up their warranty and it reads (in part): "...however, claims will not be accepted on products that are defective due to owner abuse/neglect or used in applications for which the product is not intended." Hmmm, so the guys there recommended this battery for the application. I thought I took better care of it than most would. So, where did I go wrong? So, I suppose my question for others is, what prevents them from denying warranty coverage under the premise of 'neglect' all the time? Needless to say, they've lost my business. read more

I have used batteries plus for years. I called this location because I have moved and this is now my closest location. I wanted to see if there was a larger MAH battery for my solar light kit that I have. The battery is not a typical solar battery. The gentleman I talked to really didn't want to discuss anything and his solution was to just "bring the battery in, I am sure we have something for you!" I politely said thanks and called my regular batteries plus on South Lamar. They were more than willing to discuss the battery on the phone and let me know if there was a solution for my needs. I needed a headlight bulb for my chopper, i went to 3 well know motorcycle shops, no luck. These guys had the rare bulb i needed and it was under $2. The guys were real helpful, and knew there stuff. As i looked around i found they had the under sized battery i use on my bike for half the price i paid at a local mc shop and twice the warranty.
