I had my checkbook out & was ready to buy a new car battery, my car takes a special kind that is almost $300. They ran some tests on the battery, said to get a full charge on it and told me I could get more use out of it. They are HONEST! Great little store with excellent customer service. Bought a battery from here, had some issues with it, brought it back and they recharged it up for me and even gave me a loaner at no charge to take home and get me by until I could come back the next day after the battery was finished. recharging. They helped me to fix what was causing the battery drain issue too. Nice and helpful staff. Small location but easy to get in and out. Good prices and a large selection of batteries of all sorts. I've been to this Batteries Plus about 6 or 7 times, and every time I experience the same thing: The bare minimum. "Hello, what can I do for you? Here's your battery. See ya." I'm not complaining, I'm just saying they don't do anything great, but they don't do anything offensive, either. Their customer service is about as exciting as... well, batteries. Beware!!! Dangerous to your car! They sold me an overpriced, supposedly better than normal battery with free installation. After a lengthy installation, I turned my 2017 car on and it lit up! All sorts of warning lights. Took it to Subaru and it cost me a week and $2000 to replace electronics!!!!! Subaru says damage is caused by bad installations or jumps. The owner Lance won't pay a cent...says he wants to "do the right thing" though....Really??? Then the owner Lance said I could be one of the "low lives" he's had to deal with. I have gone to the Scotts Valley Batteries plus Bulbs multiple times for car battery issues and I have always been happy with my service. I recently had such a good experience that I felt the need to write them a positive review. I wanted to replace a battery pack in a dust buster that had gone bad, but found that the battery pack was not something that could be ordered on its own. After some searching around, I found out that batteries plus bulbs will build you a battery pack to match the old one and recycle the old dead batteries. Richard did great work putting the new pack together and my dust buster is like new again. These guys are great! read more

I wish I could give 0 stars this place sucks, I was looking for eneloope hybrid rechargeable batteries, they dont have them. Never heard of them. you should buy our brand ( even though they are not hybrid, which is what I wanted) after reading horrible reviews on their brand, I returned the next day to returned them unused. I was asked why I was returning them , and I told them I had read some bad reviews online and wanted to get the Hybrids that I had originally came for. I figured that I would try to buy a charger and hybrid batteries from them, other online sites sell the same charger for 50 bucks and the batteries 10. they had them priced at 80 and 20 both quite a bit higher than the Batteries plus website, the reason they gave me was that " it costs more here" ( I entered my zip on the batteries plus website to get my prices), and was told "never believe what you read online, because people on there just like to bitch". Great place for specialized batteries. I've used them several times and they always go above and beyond finding the right battery for me. I don't have a very extensive expendable cash flow either and they always find something that works within my price range. One time, I was about to leave on a half year trip to Cambodia and realized I couldn't find the charger for my nikon. I only had half a day to find one, and I didn't want to spend much money. I went to them, explained my situation and immediately had three guys looking in the front and back of the store. They didn't have the exact one I was looking for but after looking through their misc supply in the back, we found something that worked. My daughter left her lights on and her car wouldn't start. I tried Skips Auto and various other places. None would help her (I live 4 hours away). After calling around, I spoke to George (the owner) and she got a jump and drove over to his store. The car is used and we have no idea regarding the condition of the battery. In fact, the car has been sitting for a considerable period of time, which is not good for a battery. George tested the battery and charging system and pronounced the battery in good shape and suggested my daughter drive back to his shop the following day just so he could check it one more time. After an exhaustive search for a battery rebuild on my cherished Giant Electric Bike, Batteries Plus not only rose to the occasion but had the best price. My bike is now a part of the Giant E. Bike mothball fleet, meaning they are no longer making the battery for my bike. I wish to commend employee "Richard/Rich" for his dedicated efforts in restoring my electric bike back to its original zippiness! We had several pitfalls along the course (not his fault) of my installation. He could of so easily said, "sorry Lady, I can't help you..." but no, like a true electrical mechanic/scientist he scratched his head and sharpen his pencil until he fixed my batteries issues. I bought a laptop battery at this store in Oct 2013. The choices on Amazon and other sites were confusing, so I decided to go to a brick and mortar store for real customer service. The man who helped me (maybe an owner or longtime employee) seemed to know his batteries and I was soon taken care of. I asked if the battery was 6 cell as I'd seen on the net? He said somewhat condescendingly "we don't go by cells. we go by amperage" (or some other power rating). The battery failed last week, It didn't last nearly as long as the OEM Dell battery, despite me following the Batteries Plus salesman's usage/charging advice. It's unexpected failure caused a major problem with my computer when I unplugged the charger (causing a hard shut down and nearly forcing an OS reinstall). I returned to the store and was dealt with by a young man who seemed unknowlegeable and was definitely unhelpful and bored. I didn't have my receipt and was informed they 'don't keep customer records' nor apparently product sold (by serial #) records. I wasn't looking for a warranty exchange as I didn't have my receipt. I wanted to know how long this battery had actually been in service (which I determined later via a bank records search)- and upgrade to a better one if possible. After listening to me patiently explain twice what i was looking for, he proceeded to tell me the various ways he couldn't help me. Sorry, no sales records on file, if i want the battery tested it needs to be shipped to their San Jose store ( I didn't ask for it to be tested,I guess he felt I needed to know he couldn't do it). And the battery has "either a one year or two year warranty..." I said 'just let's do a replacement battery, I need this for travel.' I was told the new battery would now have to be special ordered. I asked him to put the defective battery back in my laptop and left without another word. His handling of me cost them a customer. If I want zero customer service- and a better price- I'll just go to the internet. read more

I was referred here by a good lady friend of mine, specifically for replacing the battery on my $2 watch. I came into the store and was told I will be helped shortly, as I waited I observed a car pulling up the man from the car came inside and was immediately attended. WTF? I stood behind the customer that was attended before me, and now finally my turn, "how can I help you", :/ "can you change the battery on my watch? " -Me. I can't do it because we don't have the screwdriver.?? Again, WTF? Why would you advertise that you do watch battery replacements and you can't even do a simple battery swap on a watch where I can go to dollar tree and get the tool I need. OMG.. I left and 10 minutes later I came back in to just buy the battery. He can't sell it to me because he can't break a hundred dollar bill. Wtf?? I am so bummed with my experience today I went in to ask about changing the battery in my mercedes key. The young man with dark hair was not friendly or informative at all. He took my key and turned his back to me and opened and aggressively was snapping the key back together I could see him struggling and applying a lot of pressure. He game me back the key and chased me $11:89. I asked if their were 2 battery's in the replacement . He replied "yes" . This was the first word he said to me. He seemed to be very unhappy to be there with us customer service style He gave me the key back and I put it on my key chain and the key would not stay together. On mercedes keys you have to flip the latch over on the end to remove the emergency key then take the key apart to replace the battery. I replied" my key will not stay together He replied that the latch is broke when I brought it in. I was stunned and said " No, it was perfectly fine when I brought it in and he saw me remove it from my keychain. I preceded to look at my key and preceded to move the latch over myself to lock the emergency key in place so that the key would stay together and then I was able to put it back on my keychain. I then asked the unhappy sales man why he would tell me it's broke when it is not and refer me to a key shop down the street to fix it. Then the older man came up and asked if their was a problem I said yes that his help replaced my battery in my mercedes key and then returned it to me without it staying together and told me to go down the street to have it fixed at Bass Key Shop. Then I just slid the latch over and it was fine . Why would he do that to a customer The elder Norman said that the latch seamed to be broken and I replied that it slid over and seemed fine The elder Man was not pleasant to me and kept implying that I brought in a broken latch. I walked out and threw my hands in the air. I then went home and showed my husband and moved the latch over and then it slightly crumbled The young man in my opinion did not know what he was doing and I saw how aggressively he was snapping the key together without the latch being in the proper position and Cracked the latch My husband took me to the brass key shop down the street to fix it and the salesman suggested They do not work in mercedez keys This is terrible and now I have to go to the dealer in Monterey because the scores Valley and Santa Cruz mechanics double the price on any parts. The bottom line is if you have a specialty item . Do not let a negative and inexperienced salesperson touch you items So sad!! read more

Thank You so very much dudes at Batteries Plus. My day was going badly when the Mercedes wouldn't start after a nice Mothers day lunch out. :(. I got a jump and made it to the store just before closing, on a busy Sunday. The nice fella tested the old car battery and confirmed that a new battery would do the trick. One of the cables was rusted and the bolt was chipped. They recommended getting that fixed asap. Well......they installed a new battery..... into the very tight German compartment and...surprise, they replaced the battery cable just because. My car started!!!!! Whoopie!! What a relief. You saved the day. I appreciate the helpfulness and ability to make things work again. Apparently not just humans like the store. There are two baby ground squirrels living there. AVOID THIS PLACE! I went there looking for a smartphone battery replacement which the old man at the counter didn't seem to comprehend what a smartphone was. Meanwhile the other two employees there were playing with their own smartphones. I tried turning to one of the employees to see if they could help which the old man started flipping out and yelling at me. I started looking around for any hidden cameras to see if I was being pranked, but instead it was mass confusion led by a senile man. My Toyota Tacoma would not start at the McDonalds on Mt. Hermon road - absolutely nothing when turning the ignition key. I called AAA and they were there in minutes (kudos to them too!). My battery was dead and they jump started me. The driver said I needed a new battery and suggested batteries plus just down the road. Went there for Iphone 6 Battery replacement $69.00. Showed up at appointed time. I had wiped the phone since I don't want technicians having access to my phone data. Was told when I showed up they need to check all functions of the phone like camera, ringer, volume, speakerphone, audio jack. Sounds reasonable but since I wiped phone this is not easy on Iphone. It would be great if on their website they say they must run these tests once they accept your phone in-store. Again reasonable since they don't want to be responsible for problems with phone other than bad battery. I don't live close by so the omission on their website caused me 1/2 hour driving and no repair. I could have wiped the phone in store after the service person checked my phone was fully functional. If only I knew...... So I decided to shop elsewhere for repair and this is the biggest reason for 1 star review. Apple will replace your iphone 6 battery out of warranty for $29.00 at Genius Bar in Apple store. I guess it is is a common problem they know about. I checked other places in Santa Cruz like Click Away they charge $28.00 probably because of Apple's repair price. So I guess I should be happy Batteries Plus made me do my research and saved me $40.00. Shame on Batteries Plus. They know about Apples deal. Thank God I now know also. So you have two better choices to get an iphone 6 battery replaced either Apple or Click Away. read more

Just got off the phone with these guys and was so annoyed I felt I had to write them a review. That's a first for me. I have an Odyssey battery which I purchased a year ago that wasn't holding a charge, and was told by Odyssey to contact the local seller/distributor so I could file a warranty claim. Called these guys up and asked if they'd be able to do it, and was met with a guy who I can only assume is really unhappy with his job. I was told they wouldn't be able to handle it, so I mentioned that Odyssey had told me to contact "the nearest distributor", and their reply was "we're not a distributor, we're a seller." Ok, now we're splitting hairs here. I said that I had just chosen that particular word and meant they were the "nearest place who carries our product", and the person on the other line seemed extremely irritated...told me to go "Google it". I told them to calm down, there was no reason to get upset, I'm just trying to solve the discrepancy with what I'm being told, and eventually just told him "wow...never buying anything from you guys" and hung up. Then I called another place that deals with Odyssey batteries, and met with this guy's complete opposite. He was helpful, asked questions about any battery damage and its usage, wanted to know the serial # and date it was made, and since their location was a bit farther away, spent the time to look up some numbers of closer locations, as well as the number of a person at the factory I could call to file a claim. Polite, helpful, reasonable to talk to...I should have called them first. So I thought I'd pass my experience on before anybody else wastes their time. read more

My wife and I went to this place and bought batteries of this type or that a couple times, and the guy at the counter was always friendly and helpful. Then, however, the sold us a battery jump device that wouldn't work, and they wouldn't take it back. We figured maybe it was us, but after repeatedly trying the directions on two different vehicles, it never worked. (Yes, we've jumped dead batteries before, and I worked on cars for two years in high school rebuilding engines, to I'm not utterly clueless....it just didn't work.) Much to my chagrin, despite this event, my wife insisted we get a replacement battery for her hybrid at this place since most other places didn't carry it. We stuck the battery in the car and it worked, so we considered the matter done and a day later flew to Hawaii for a week. Upon our return, the battery didn't work. I took the battery in, and they claimed I'd installed it wrong or otherwise damaged it. Obviously, a car battery can't die completely in a week of non-use. They refused to change it for a good one or provide a refund. Like Ken C., they burned us, and were completely unapologetic about it. So if you wonder how a store can stay in business with batteries alone, now you know---they are DISHONEST AND SCREW PEOPLE. Please don't be a dummy like me and let them do it to you twice. read more
