    Damaged watch

I just paid $17.55 for a watch battery replacement. I noticed scratches on the back when he was done. I asked him about the scratches and he said, "they were already there". It's the first time I have replaced the battery and I'm 100% sure the scratches weren't already there. If he was honest, I probably would have let it slide but he lied about it. Hence the bad review.

The owner quoted a reasonable amount to replace the screen, but a few minutes after he began the repair, he informed me that it was actually just my screen protector and my screen was fine. I had replaced the screen protector, so somehow way back when I must have put TWO screen protectors on my phone unintentionally. Had he just kept the phone for 30 minutes and returned it saying "all fixed! You have a new screen!!" I wouldn't have known. I so appreciated his honesty and integrity. I'm writing this in hopes that others can make a more informed decision before bringing their phone to SC Phone Repair Shack and hopefully avoid the headache that was my experience, as I paid $250 and my phone was still broken in the end. I came to SC Phone Repair Shack after my screen broke in hopes of a closer and cheaper alternative to the Apple Store. At first, my screen was repaired quickly and I was more than satisfied with the service. However, after about a week and a half later my phone began to have ghost taps that would repeatedly call emergency services and some of my contacts, which was quite alarming. I brought my phone back and the owner fixed it quickly and didn't charge me, as it was still under warranty. Once again I was happy with the service, though a little wary it'd break again. Sure enough, about two weeks later my phone screen randomly turned entirely white and was completely unusable. It was clear both instances were because of faulty replacement parts, as my phone warned me about the unrecognized parts and the malfunctions happened at random, not when dropped or damaged. I called the owner to ask for a refund, as I had moved back home 7 hours south, for the summer. I also was worried the same thing would happen in two weeks if I took it to get repaired by him again. However, the owner insisted I bring the phone back into the shop, despite me repeatedly telling him I had moved 7 hours south, and said he would not refund me unless I did so. Hoping it was simply to protect from scammers, I offered to send him pictures of my broken phone and the dated Apple repair reciept with a detailed damage description on it. Unfortunately, he simply kept repeating that I had to bring it in and began to get agaitated when I tried to offer alternate solutions. Still hoping to find a compromise, I had a loved one talk to him in hopes that it was a personal miscommunication or misunderstanding on my part. However, he continued to get more and more agitated and even called me "stupid" which I really didn't appreciate. I hung up shortly after that and was dissapointed we couldn't find a solution. While I hope the owner was simply having a bad day, I still was upset with the way the matter was handled and quite frankly a little bit hurt. TLDR: Unfortunately, I would not reccomend this repair shop as the parts were faulty and the owner was quick to temper and honestly a bit rude when I called. At the end of the day, I would be wary to bring your phone here as I spent $250, ended up with an unrepaired screen, and had to spend another $350 at the Apple Store to fix it.

I know the standard pricing is $200 through the Google sponsored fix-it stores, all of which are an hour+ drive for me. I called I-help, they had the part already in stock (official pixel 6 lcd), gave me a quote of $195, so I brought in my phone. The man working the desk (sorry I forgot your name!) was very kind and efficient, letting me know how long it would take. They took as long as they said it would take, called my alternate phone to tell me it was ready, and I picked it up and it looks and feels brand new. And get this, they give a lifetime guarantee on their installation in case something goes wrong with it (doesn't cover me dropping it again obviously). Couldn't be happier with the speed, convenience, price, and the whole experience.

I am SO VERY unimpressed. I'd heard there was a guy at the Sunday flea market who repairs broken…read morescreens on iPhones. Well, I broke mine, and it's usually $99 or so for a competent person to fix it--COMPETENT. (Which I am not. I don't recommend buying a replacement screen on eBay--the little tools are crappy. Which brings me to these two guys who have recently come to the Santa Cruz flea market on Sundays, who call themselves Wrektechs, and they seem to have come over from Silicon Valley, so there goes your money out of the county. That's not the bad part. I asked at the entrance: "Where is the cell phone giuy?" The man pointed me to a white van (look for the skateboards he also sells) very close to the entrance. (This is not the company I am reviewing.) He added, "There's another place a few rows over, a couple guys." I asked, "Who's better?" He said, "The guy who's been here." So I dropped my phone off: $65 to repair the broken screen. No tax. His name is Roger, he's a black man, and he and his wife are on TOP of it. While waiting for my phone, we found these two guys. "How much to fix a screen on my phoen?" "$70." I didn't ask if there was tax. Just said, "Really? That guy over there is $65 and he's been here longer." I wasn't mean. Just said it outright. They actually expected me to BELIEVE that one LCD/glass screen is different than another. Since I've ordered more than one on eBay, this is a 100% LIE. One guy said, "Yeah, it's like shoes." Shoes is a stupid example. The other guy said, "It's like a car." That, too, is a stupid example. It's not like shoes or a car--this is a standard item. So, these two guys seem to be either liars or they are not as experienced as I am in purchasing replacement screens for iPhones. (Go ahead: Google "replacement screens for iPhones" and tell me there are categories of superior and inferior models. Of course there aren't.) They cost more, and I expect you to ignore them and use Roger, the nice man who's been there, and tell him I'm grateful for his honesty but I still wish he was cheaper than $65. Guys, don't lie to people. It's just not cool. You don't deserve to succeed with that greedy attitude. Yeah, you get your $5--but you lost me and now you know what a mistake it was to give me your business card.

Her and the rest of the crew are really going the extra mile with their customer service. Seems simple, but as I was waiting in line, back to back customers had complaints about items, not wanting to listen to the warranty pitch (which trust me, no one ever wants to, but it's mandatory for them) overall putting the employees in a difficult situation. Yes I get it people, they get paid to do so.
