Very nice restaurant! Mr Praveen and his team really took care of us. Seating took a while but once seated, the service was extremely fast. We went for the weekly Sunday banthi bhojanam and were offered a wide variety of foods. Options included both veg and non-veg. Different food runners placed a variety of dishes on our banana leaves. We ordered the chicken biryani, butter chicken, garlic naan, and samosas. The samosas were dry, the butter chicken was ok, and the biryani was mid. We ordered the Biryani medium spicy . It was spicy but tasted bland at the same time. The best part was the garlic naan. When the server brought us our biryani, his thumb was jammed into the rice. Just want to take a moment to let everyone know that this restaurant is still really good. I ordered the Green Chili Chicken weekend special last night and it is one of the better tasting spicy dishes I've had in a long time. A very interesting combination of flavors that I can't recall having before. But please believe them when they say it's hot. The shrimp biryani I got was once again great too. Just look at how much was still left of the regular size order after I filled my plate with a heap of it! Had plenty leftover to enjoy into today. read more

I love the biryani at this restaurant. Can't speak to anything else on the menu because every time I go here, I eat Biryani! The food is on the spicier side, even with an Indian palate, I ask for medium-spicy biryani. Biryani is served with a small cup of yogurt raita and a spicy sauce called Salan. The restaurant is generous with raw onions and lemon/lime which make the biryani experience a pleasure. Service wise, I don't have any complains, but neither do I have any accolades for the staff. They do their job of taking your order and bringing the food. I haven't seen them make recommendations or engage in conversations. The restaurant has recently implemented a food serving robot. The robot brings the food to your table and you pick it up from the tray. Gives the place a fast food kind of vibe. The restaurant is generally clean, they decorate with a flower vase at each table with fresh flowers. Like most Indian restaurants, you'll find little kids running around while the parents sink into some good Indian food. There is plenty of free parking outside the restaurant. read more

4 stars for Bawarchi Biryanis. I stopped in for dinner tonight as I was in the area, it's right across the street from Fox Valley Mall. Service is okay, not really friendly or rude just kind of neutral. I tried the Malai Kofta and Chilli Naan bread - both were pretty good, the portion sizes of the curry and rice are massive compared to other Indian restaurants I've been too so kudos for that, now I got leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The malai kofta is a bit garlicy, but still pretty good - their default flavor is medium so if you want mild or spicy make sure to specify, I asked for spicy when ordering and didn't get it, not the end of the world though. There's a 10% discount if you pay with cash, and the food is decently priced. The restaurant is clean and there's plenty of seating. I would recommend visiting overall. read more

Overall this is a great place for authentic Indian food and the authentic Indian restaurant experience Service (A-) Not the best but everyone is nice and friendly. We had pretty good service but also dined on a Sunday evening and it was not too busy. Our food came out fairly quick but they could work on being more knowledgeable about menu and provide more friendly service. When we asked for additional chutney or added to our order or asked for to go boxes we promptly received them. Again this feedback is based on American cultural norms in restaurants not Indian norms perspective. From an Indian norms perspective they did a great job. Note - you are provided paper plates and disposable utensils for dining. Value (B+) Receipt is attached. For this economy and quality of the food I think it is a fair value. Did not feel like I got a great deal nor did I feel like I got ripped off. I like how we could substitute a garlic naan for rice for one of our dishes. We ordered two dishes and an appetizer for two individuals and had leftovers. Quality (A-) All the food we ordered was really good. Baby corn appetizer - not as good as the former Taste of India or Bombay Chopsticks in Schaumburg but still very good. A bit spicy when ordered medium but really good. The butter chicken tasted great and was authentic - recommend ordering. The non-veg mixed platter was really good and a bunch of food. Highly recommend the garlic naan - well worth it. They found the right balance of garlic. If you are desi I would definitely go and try this place out - it is a safe bet. Note - the service will be hit or miss depending on how busy it is. If you are not desi - don't expect the service you would at other places. While I haven't tried eating in the restaurant, I have now ordered from here 5 times. Every time I have really enjoyed the food. All well seasoned. Didn't kill it with salt. Hot. With enough spice to leave your mouth tingling. Planning on going back soon. read more

Usually I always go with biryani but this time We ordered Hyderabadi chicken curry and mysore bonda. Hyderabadi chicken curry is the worst chicken curry I ever had and I don't recommend at all. It has no taste and even chicken pieces are overcooked and seems like they added boiled chicken in water and added masala and gave it to us which is very disappointing. But Mysore bonada is really good and definitely you can order it. Definitely not coming again to this place. read more

I have been a customer since Bawarchi's Naperville location opened years ago. Generally their South Indian food is very good. It can get a bit spicy for those that are not familiar with Indian food. The Restaurant is run by what I assume are recent immigrants from India. They do a good job but there are many issues with their pickup/take-out services. I have ordered from them many times and there were enough issues for me to write this. One time, when they packed the food, one of the containers broke/spilled. I believe it was due to overfilling, weak container material and refusal to secure it further (e.g. Saran wrap or another layer of plastic). Another time, I waited at least an extra 30 minutes to get the food. Last night was similar but worse in my opinion. I ordered online and chose "cash" on pickup since it is cheaper. I ordered at approximately before 5 pm when the restaurant opened. So their online system defaulted to 7 pm pickup. So I called them and the lady on the phone appeared confused and couldn't commit to an earlier pick up time. Finally, she said 5:45 pm. When I got there at approximately 5:50 pm with cash in hand, the food wasn't ready. However there was many other bags of food ready for others which was surprising. Some of those people also paid cash. The gentleman working there said he'll check and said 5 more minutes. After 10 minutes he brought the food out. I should have checked the order. Ther was one dish missing entirely. This is not a huge deal but the effort it took me to order that food and driving 30 minutes each way to pick it up, was extremely frustrating. I tried to call them when I found out about the missing dish but no one picked up the phone. I cannot drive an hour to address in person. They should refund me, but the effort it will take for me to address it, may not be worth the price of the dish because or their communication issues. Overall, their delivery system and order fulfillment timing is behind and needs improvement. The communication also needs major improvement. The wasted time and effort has been unfortunate and disappointing. It has become very difficult for me to recommend the place to others any more. read more

Had gobi Manchurian which was below average and rava masala dosa which was good except the coconut chutney. Preferred eating my dosa with mutton pepper (dry). Almost walked out. We're white. The place was filled with Indian patrons. I think we were discriminated against. People that came in after us were being served first. All we ordered was chicken Biryani. We assumed it was Probably already made. Chicken and rice. That's all it was. We had to ask twice for the meal. The waitress we had was very unenthusiastic. When we asked for our check and a to-go box that didn't happen either. I had to go up and get one myself. When we left I spoke with the man at the register and told him what happened. Really disappointed and, this incident completely took me by surprise. I usually do a to-go from this place esp. the chicken biriyani. Today, I had placed an order with Bawarchi, Naperville for a kadai chicken ( boneless ) & some naan. When I had this kadai chicken, with their rice that is served w/ it. I bit into a sharp bone, which is of a Goat. This piece could've easily hurt my upper palate of my mouth. Incredibly surprised to find another meat bone in this dish and esp. dangerous if I hadn't realized that I bit into a sharp bone. Really disappointed Bawarchi! Time to buckle up and I'm reporting this folks, if you don't straighten up. read more

I love their butter chicken and biryanis!!! I order lunch from here about twice a month for the last year, and everything I've gotten has always been excellent. When I'm on a vegetarian kick, the tiki masala paneer, eggplant, and fried cauliflower dishes are delicious. The veggie samosas really hit the spot, too. The portions are generous, so I usually can get a few meals out of it, especially when I freeze the rice in baggies. I'll be back in a couple weeks! read more

Zero stars for customer service! After my bad experience a few months ago, I gave Bawarchi another chance today. Big mistake! I was given an incomplete order and I had to drive back to the restaurant a second time to pick up the missing order. I decided to order more food to make it worth my time to drive back one more time. I order Mild and they deliver me Medium. And they give some excuse about Medium being the new Mild! What???? Too bad their management is still not addressing their customer service issues by better training their Customer facing staff. read more

Finally some competition in this area for the good. I had longed felt that Hyderabad Biryani House was the only place that offered good biryani. Until Bawarchi got opened across the street. The Biryani is decent but the service is slow. May be because its just the soft opening for this place. Hope to see the service and coordination improve post the grand opening 11/25. read more
