It's been a couple of years since I've physically come into this restaurant so I can't really say much about their service and ambiance , but I will say that their food is fantastic and past experiences have been outstanding. The chicken is well cooked and spiced, the naan is tender, and their samosas are practically melt-in-your-mouth with the paste-like filling. My only issue with this particular spot is lack of transparency on availability during certain times of the year, unless you physically go to the place. There are times where Bawarchi is closed for an unspecified period of time during the year, and no other Indian Cuisine joint comes anywhere close to how great Bawarchi is, so sadly not knowing when I can order is certainly a pity. We ordered online because they had a great deal of BOGO butter chicken and naan. The garlic naan was amazing but sadly the butter chicken was as just OK. My husband loves Indian and always likes to try new places, I am slightly less adventurous but we was able to confirm what I was thinking even without being an Indian cuisine connoisseur. We were in town for my son's soccer game and were hoping to eat at the same place as last time but it was closed and bought by this company. We gave it a try. We went in and saw the buffet so we thought jackpot but upon eating my first and only plate, all of my food was cold. The food wasn't fresh or good. We have eaten here before and today, we stopped in for a quick Saturday afternoon meal. To our surprise, there was a large buffet with a variety of dishes such as chicken, fish, goat, and even a few vegetarian items as well as condiments. The food is nicely spiced and delicious. The wait staff brought out a side dish of freshly cooked naan bread to the table, which was so delicious, you could taste the wonderful ghee flavor. The gentlemen running the restaurant are very courteous and friendly and this restaurant is clean, nicely appointed and has a variety of seating options like tables, booths and bar-style seating. We come here every time we're in the mood for a curry and have never been disappointed. The food comes hot and freshly prepared. This time I had lamb Tikka and my husband a chicken korma. After scouring the Tampa Bay Area, Indian Cuisine in mind, I finally found a place that satisfies what I've been searching for. Bawarchi (not to be confused with the chain of a similar name) is certainly something to tickle the local eatery fancy. It's not overly large and it is rarely packed. But the wallop it packs in food and service makes the mind spin that the case isn't otherwise. I don't stick to one type of entree when going to a restaurant, at least not typically. Here I am the same; I've tried a large portion of the menu. The most commonly ordered item is the Chicken Makhanwala (aka Butter Chicken). Look, people, it's fantastic (I get the veggies instead, but same difference), but don't be afraid to reach out. Bawarchi has so many good curries and the naan is fresh and wonderful. Any of the Aloo (potato) dishes are fine meals that are hearty and filling. The owner cooks this all by himself usually. Keep this in mind when your reviews are about to scathe with wait time complaints. The customer service is good, but if they are busy they do what humans do. Sometimes they are short with responses or they don't frequent the table as much as some would like. Let's remember what kind of beast food service is and what we're dealing with here. Sometimes smaller places have to sacrifice pampering for efficiency. My girlfriend and I just left the place (as I am writing this) after a wonderful meal that was catered to us solely. This happened because the gentleman decided to close early being the only staff at the place suddenly, and he treated us to a dinner anyway as he cleaned up. We were ecstatic! Makhanwala flowed like wine and we got out of his hair, satisfied and full. Chain restaurants just don't offer this kind of thing. Please walk into Bawarchi with an open mind (and an empty stomach). Try the cuisine for what it is, and pay close attention to the environment and the conditions therein before you become upset at these fine people. Bawarchi is one of the only Indian Restaurants in the area. While their entrée prices can be really high $11.95-16.95, their appetizer, breads, drinks, and sides are quite reasonable. Therefore, if you order a little of each, it will balance out to an average priced meal. We arrived around 6:00pm on a Saturday night and seats were quickly filling up after we arrived. The dining area is actually quite small, but very clean and welcoming. As soon as you are seated, you are given free Papadum with red onion relish. The Vegetable Samosa ($3.50) are two large filled pastries with spiced peas and potato and come with green cilantro chutney (spicy). They were quite delicious and filling for their price. I had Mango Lassi ($3.00), which was sour just the way I like it, and a large glass too. The Mango Shake ($3.00) is a milder version with just milk instead of yogurt. All of the dishes come with ulimited buttered rice, which is cooked to perfection and also reheats well. The Naan ($2.25) and Garlic Nann ($2.95) were both crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside, perfect! The Aloo Gobi ($10.95) was a dry cooked dish of potato and cauliflower with seeds sprinkled on top and no sauce. While it was flavorful, I will not be ordering it again. The Channa Masala ($10.95) was delicious chickpeas and had more of a tomato gravy rather than the usual cream sauce that I am used to with Masala. I would call it more of an Aloo Chole than a masala sauce. It also made some great leftovers. The Baigan Bhartha ($10.95) is roasted eggplant with spices, which ends up being more a puree to dip bread into. It is also great to eat with chips or crackers. Bawarchi's had more of a cinnamon taste to it than I am used to, but it was still delicious. The highlight of my meal was the Novrattan Korma ($12.95), mixed vegetables covered in a sweet cream sauce with raisins and cashews. It was so good! Definitely a must order next time. On my next visit, I will be ordering the Bhindi Masala ($11.95) because of my love of okra. I was too full to order the Kheer ($3.00) rice pudding, but hopefully next time I will be able to. Also, they have all-vegetarian buffet on Tuesday nights. Their food is delicious. The service is fine - though I've never ordered of the menu, only buffet. It 's never been crowded when I've been there - I frequent once a month. So with Bawarchi I chose chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and garlic naan. I'm so excited about this restaurant because the dishes we tried were the absolutely best of their kind that I've ever had in the state of Florida. And we had them as takeout, and they were still delicious when we got home! Noticed some other reviewers online were unhappy with the food, saying it was overpriced. Paid $37 for two entrées and naan bread. Given the quality of the food I feel like that is exceptional and more than fair. These days you can't get out of McDonald's drive-through under $20. I had stopped at a nearby business and decided to grab supper before heading home. I was the only customer and had my choice of seats. Waitress was very nice but didn't seem to know the menu well. I was interested in a simple order of butter chicken since I really didn't have experience with any other Indian dishes. She verified that they had it even though it wasn't specifically listed on the menu. They did have different types of naan so I chose the garlic naan. The flavor of the garlic naan was good but I didn't feel that it meshed well with the butter chicken. I would have preferred the plain naan. I did have plenty of the butter chicken left over so I ordered the plain naan to take home. It was a much better choice of flavors, in my opinion. Reading the reviews here, though, I see a lot of people raving about the garlic as well as the cheese naan. This will have to be an opinion you formulate for yourself. The Uber driver review from 2 days ago who claimed she did not get her food is lying. She came in and I was seated near the register. She had spilled the food in her car because she did not have it secured properly. She expected this small family business to replace $80 worth of food. She was very rude to him. He said I'm sorry that happened, but it wasn't my fault I'm not replacing it. She said ok well I'm leaving you a bad review then, said some nasty things and left. He did NOT cuss at her, and certainly did NOT call her the F word. The way she treated him really upset me. Most of the time, the area is pretty desolate. Food: Indian food is supposed to have the most variety in vegetarian food so it is a shame that Bawarchi uses very similar tasting sauces in their vegetarian dishes. I mean they put paneer and some red food coloring in the vegetable makhanwala and call it paneer tikka masala. WTF. Portions are okay, not too small and not a lot. We went on a Tuesday night for the vegetarian dinner buffet. It's nice to have more than one or two options to pick from. It was fairly empty, but it was a Tuesday night, and maybe the vegetarian night isn't popular. The host greeted us right away and let us choose a table. I was happy to see samosas on the buffet, and they were really good. There were 4 main dishes including Palak Paneer, one other paneer dish with green beans, a lentil dal, and another that I can't recall, or spell. Overall a good variety, with jasmine rice and naan bread as well. I'd say the food was above average, and I certainly enjoyed it. However, it wasn't as spicy as I would like, and I suspect at least some of the vegetables were frozen. I really enjoyed all the chutneys and sauces on the side including the onion chutney, cucumber raita, hot pickle, and tamarind sauce. I was certainly full when I left. We were just getting the buffet and water, but the server kept our water glasses filled and took our dirty plates promptly. Nice job in the service department. The dinner buffet is $11.95 which isn't bad. Where else can you get a full dinner for $12? I'll go back when I'm in the mood for Indian food again. read more

The reason I've rated Barwarchi as low as I did is because it is based on one experience at lunchtime. I tried their buffet which is about $1.00 less than the others I've tried, but it's only about HALF as good. The food all tasted bland which, for Indian food, is a cardinal sin. NOTHING stood out at all! Perhaps it was an off day, but I was VERY disappointed, especially having eaten at a number of other Indian restaurants. When I mentioned this to the owner of a different Indian Restaurant, he defended Barwarchi by saying their food is from a different region of India than theirs. And that, supposedly, explained why the food wasn't as flavorful. Perhaps. I should also go back and check their dinner as a number of the reviews here for their dinners are very good. We are fairly new in town. My husband and I moved from the Atlanta area where we regularly enjoyed Indian food. We were disappointed, there was no Papodams served before the meal. We asked about it, we were told it was too expensive because of the drought, but later learned (because somebody else was.served) it was available on the menu. Plenty of parking (strip mall) No wait for a table Menu has all the usual Indian dishes - lamb biryani, tandoori chicken, naan, paratha, etc. Great location on a hideous commercial strip (US19 in Palm Harbor) Cons: Wine/beer list is pathetic -- a few cheap mass-market choices, with some options scratched out and other prices raised manually with a magic marker. Is it so hard to print a new menu? And why do they only offer Michelob Lite, Bud, Kingfisher, and Taj Mahal? I mean, come on it's 2016 already. Food was grim. My samosas tasted like they came frozen out of a carton from Sam's Club. The paratha was basically like a store-bought pita that had been painted with oil. Greasy and yucky. My main dish tasted old and stale, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. Maybe this is what happens when you eat dinner at the end of the week in a restaurant that is mostly known for its lunch buffet. Men's room is truly nasty. Discovered this wonderful restaurant when in town for the Outback Bowl. Although there aren't yet many Indian restaurants in the area, this one is both worth the drive from Tampa, and would compare favorably with what's found in Chicago on Devon Avenue, and better than the Indian restaurants we have in Milwaukee. The entrees are a bit pricey, but generous and very tasty, plus, they don't charge extra for rice. If you get one entree per person and share South Asian style, it will work out. I live in New Port Richey, and used to think I had to travel to Tampa to get good Indian food. Then I found Biwarchi and ever since, I have been smitten. I love this place! I've tried many dishes, and my favorites are the curry (lamb is my favorite), the Chicken Tikka Masala, Daal Makhani, Malai Kefta (very tasty!!) and Channa Masala. I love to start with the veggie pakoras or the veggie samosas. I always have a hard time deciding which and when I am super hungry, I am not above getting both! Rice is always hot and fragrant, and the garlic naan smells heavenly and is fluffy at the edges, with some crisp at the middle, just the way I like it. Hubby likes the papadum, and the red onion stuff that comes with it. I will go back again and again, because it is tasty, well priced and best of all, close to home. read more

I love Bawarchi! My family has dined there 1-3 times a month since they opened. The staff is attentive and respectful. Dinner selections are delicious, impressively varied, with rich sauces, complex quality spices, fluffy rice, and crisp Naan. (Service and food are consistently excellent.) Prices aren't cheap - this isn't New Delhi or a street vendor in London! And, I too have enjoyed the most extremes of Indian Cuisine in a number of countries - and I am just delighted with the fare at Bawarchi. I suppose I could ding them for not having a premium location or not very expensive decor but I don't feel like paying a premium for that stuff anyway. I go there for the wonderful curry dishes and the consistently good service.
