If you like beer, Bawden Street Brewing is a must when in Ketchikan. They have a great selection of different beers that you won't see just everywhere. Coming from Portland, the novelty for us is the spruce tip ale. This is probably our favorite here but you can't go wrong with any of them. A cute brewery that is a must stop by for anyone touring the area. We popped in here while at port during our cruise. The bar was busy and the staff was moving customers through pretty quickly. This is a must visit. We came to Ketchikan by cruise ship. We got of the boat to roam around and came accross Bawden. The place is quite cool looking. B got "The Lightest Beer". We were in Ketchikan via cruise ship and had been off the ship for just a bit when it started to rain. We decided to take shelter in Bawden Strewt Brewing, which is conveniently located up near the salmon run, as it was open at 9am! When on vacation, I guess we can start drinking early! They had a lot of different offering, so I decided to get a flight. The bartender was very friendly and recommended the Tip of the Tongass which was brewed with local spruce tips. This was definitely the favorite of the flight, although the Red Headed Siren Sour was also fantastic with awesome raspberry flavor. They don't offer a food menu, but it appeared they occasionally have events with local food vendors. They also had an awesome selection of merch. We found out about the "Ketchikan Booze Passport" on our visit, which then set us out on our adventure for the rest of the day. Would highly recommend Bawden Street for a nice beer stop! read more

Customer service was abysmal. I ordered their West Coast IPA. My friend only drinks few styles, and none that Bawden offers. So he asked, can I try the lightest beer you offer. Made a quick stop in here to try the root beer after seeing it for sale in a few stores here in Ketchikan. We weren't going to be able to get it back into the ship and home, so we went to the source. The root beer is amazing! If their actually beer offerings are half as good, they'd be excellent as well. They have a nice selection to choose from on a daily basis, including a cream ale and a porter. I would buy more root beer in a heartbeat and will come back if I'm ever in Ketchikan again. If I can find it closer to home, I'm gonna buy it. If you see it anywhere, buy some or come by here when you are in town. A word about the place: it is small. Three tables with six total seats, as well as a long, narrow standing room table in the middle. Don't let that scare you away. Come in and try something! When you come in, ask for Greg. During our Alaska cruise stop in Ketchikan, we had several hours to kill at the end of the day so we decided to try some local Alaskan beers at Bawden. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of beers: Good. We tried their IPA and Porter and they were both on point. The porter was smooth and not overly bitter. The IPA was nice and bitter. Décor: pretty cool. Although pretty small, the brewery felt like something out of Jules Verne book. There were decorations of octopus and squids and the whole place felt decorated by an ocean adventurer that calls Alaska their home. Cleanliness: good. The tables and the bathroom was clean. Service: good. Our cashier was pleasant and let us sample several beers before we settled on the one we liked. Price: a bit on the high side. Most beers were $7.50 for a pint. Maybe those are typical prices in Alaska. If you're in the mood for some good local beers served in a cool bar that the locals hangout at then checkout Bawden. read more

This is some of the best beers on tap I've had on a trip! It's a small local brewing company near the pier that you definitely should try while visiting. There is some indoor seating and more seating outdoors in a mini beer garden. A very chill place to have a beer (or a flight) with friends / family during the day. read more

Found this brewery while walking koi by the streets of Ketchikan. Walked up to the front counter where I was immediately help and since it was my first time got recommendations on what to try. Got the beer flight, all the beer were great and would recommend if you are looking to try a variety of local beers. The interior felt a little small since there was a large group but once they left there was plenty of room and tables to seat at.
