Stopped here on a cruise port day; on the outer edge of the town but worth the walk! Tired of microbrews who shove ten different IPAs on the menu and call it a day? Visit Bawden St! A wide variety of flavors and ABVs await! The Spruce Tip Ale was my favorite... my wife (not a beer drinker) loved the tropical stout! Top notch, check it out! read more

Some beer was very watery. Some beer tasted like it was all malt. Weird vibe but the server was nice. Wouldn't recommend going

Tasty Mark IV IPA even though the owner isn't as big a fan of IPAs as we are. Loved the label art, and met someone from the local American Legion! Great atmosphere, friendly bartender. read more

If you like beer, Bawden Street Brewing is a must when in Ketchikan. They have a great selection of different beers that you won't see just everywhere. Coming from Portland, the novelty for us is the spruce tip ale. This is probably our favorite here but you can't go wrong with any of them. After a crowded visit to Creek Street, this is a great spot to get away and enjoy a flight or pint. Both times we've been here the staff and locals have been friendly and happy to chat. They also have great art, so it's my favorite place to pick up an Alaska brewery hat or shirt! read more

We enjoy the beers at Bawden and stop by when we are in Ketchikan. The staff are always friendly and answer my questions about the beers. They have a good selection of beers to choose from. The place is a bit small with only a few tables and long bar in the middle. We bought a couple of T-shirts showing their beers. read more

We stopped in recently for a beer and had a good experience. I tried a flight of 4 beers and they were all great. I enjoyed the blueberry berliner weisse the most, although the Cherry on Top chocolate stout was a close second. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the weather. Super friendly service, really enjoyed the pine beer, such a unique flavor to this region that it is a must try. They have flights that give you a good opportunity to sample their hits. Nice patio area for when its not raining to enjoy, but standing interior with a few tables is perfect to enjoy some brews when youre in port. This is also on the beer trail for the town and if you finish all the stops you get a souvenir glass, which my group loved! Excited to come back! read more

A cute brewery that is a must stop by for anyone touring the area. We popped in here while at port during our cruise. The bar was busy and the staff was moving customers through pretty quickly. It's a small site, so it can get pretty crowded inside, but they have a nice little outside seating area as well if you want more breathing room. Overall: A Nice brewery stop for visitors to the area! Fun vibes. read more

This is a must visit. We came to Ketchikan by cruise ship. We got of the boat to roam around and came accross Bawden. The place is quite cool looking. B got "The Lightest Beer". He said it was really good. He ordered it because he found the name interesting. We also noticed there is a sign stating the limit of alchol that they can serve per customer. The owner was really friendly. He was a really good guy to chat to. read more

We were in Ketchikan via cruise ship and had been off the ship for just a bit when it started to rain. We decided to take shelter in Bawden Strewt Brewing, which is conveniently located up near the salmon run, as it was open at 9am! When on vacation, I guess we can start drinking early! They had a lot of different offering, so I decided to get a flight. The bartender was very friendly and recommended the Tip of the Tongass which was brewed with local spruce tips. This was definitely the favorite of the flight, although the Red Headed Siren Sour was also fantastic with awesome raspberry flavor. They don't offer a food menu, but it appeared they occasionally have events with local food vendors. They also had an awesome selection of merch. We found out about the "Ketchikan Booze Passport" on our visit, which then set us out on our adventure for the rest of the day. Would highly recommend Bawden Street for a nice beer stop! read more

Customer service was abysmal. I ordered their West Coast IPA. My friend only drinks few styles, and none that Bawden offers. So he asked, can I try the lightest beer you offer. He happily offers a splash of a cream ale (I love beer, but I don't like cream ales) My friend didn't like it, and the bartender says the only way to get something lighter than this is toilet water. What the hell! Thankfully my friend didn't hear what he said. I almost cancelled my order and walked away. I decided to give them a shot. Their west coast IPA was alright. We quickly left... read more

The flavor shot in the beer is fantastic! Came for my daughter's 21st birthday and had a delightful time with great beer!

Wasn't a big fan of this place. The beer-tender wasn't very friendly, but maybe he'd been dealing with other tourists that day and had had enough. Also, I thought the beers were just OK. Overall, the place is small, but the outside seating is nice. read more

Made a quick stop in here to try the root beer after seeing it for sale in a few stores here in Ketchikan. We weren't going to be able to get it back into the ship and home, so we went to the source. The root beer is amazing! If their actually beer offerings are half as good, they'd be excellent as well. They have a nice selection to choose from on a daily basis, including a cream ale and a porter. I would buy more root beer in a heartbeat and will come back if I'm ever in Ketchikan again. If I can find it closer to home, I'm gonna buy it. If you see it anywhere, buy some or come by here when you are in town. A word about the place: it is small. Three tables with six total seats, as well as a long, narrow standing room table in the middle. Don't let that scare you away. Come in and try something! When you come in, ask for Greg. He won't steer you wrong!!! read more

During our Alaska cruise stop in Ketchikan, we had several hours to kill at the end of the day so we decided to try some local Alaskan beers at Bawden. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of beers: Good. We tried their IPA and Porter and they were both on point. The porter was smooth and not overly bitter. The IPA was nice and bitter. Décor: pretty cool. Although pretty small, the brewery felt like something out of Jules Verne book. There were decorations of octopus and squids and the whole place felt decorated by an ocean adventurer that calls Alaska their home. Cleanliness: good. The tables and the bathroom was clean. Service: good. Our cashier was pleasant and let us sample several beers before we settled on the one we liked. Price: a bit on the high side. Most beers were $7.50 for a pint. Maybe those are typical prices in Alaska. If you're in the mood for some good local beers served in a cool bar that the locals hangout at then checkout Bawden. read more

Found this brewery while walking koi by the streets of Ketchikan. Walked up to the front counter where I was immediately help and since it was my first time got recommendations on what to try. Got the beer flight, all the beer were great and would recommend if you are looking to try a variety of local beers. The interior felt a little small since there was a large group but once they left there was plenty of room and tables to seat at. And if you don't want alcohol try the root beer, I usually don't like root beer but this one was worth trying. If I'm Ketchikan, check this brewery out! read more

So I'm still catching up on reviews of places we visited on our Alaska cruise last summer, but then, that's sort of fitting, since that Alaska cruise was booked for 2020. Anyway, if there's a brewery near me and I'm on vacation, I'm *going* to stop at it, so we did. Their tasting room is pretty tiny, but they do make the best use of it that they can, seating-wise - there's plenty of seating, and it's set up well for air-flow from outside. You might have to wait a little for a seat if it's busy, though (we were here at the very beginning of the cruise season). As of, admittedly at this point, a few months ago - when I was there, taster pours were a reasonable enough $3 each (the menu listed them as "4 for 12", but you could get any number of tasters for the same price per glass) We learned that they seem to focus on saisons, so we tried all the saisons they had available (4 of them, including a taproom-only barrel-aged one), which were all great. I also tried a porter that I thought was just so-so, and a supposedly "raspberry sour" that tasted less like raspberries or like a sour, more like they just made another saison (not a bad one, though). (My wife also got a taster of the cream ale - I'm not a big fan of cream ales, but she confirmed that it was good if you like the style.) Anyway, I'd definitely stop in again if I were on another Alaska cruise (I wish I was right now!), and would definitely at least try all the saison-style beers they had, haha. read more
