I say that because it 5pm on a gorgeous 80 degree Saturday and there were only a handful of people there! The ones that were there however were definitely taking advantage of all the awesomeness it has it offer. There is a nice little dog park, pier areas for fishing, basketball courts, fields, and even pickle and tennis. I really liked the tennis courts, especially how empty they were! They were so empty in fact that there were two friends using them as a roller rink! I think I'll come back here soon with a bunch of friends and spend the afternoon playing pickleball, fishing and bbqing!

They had a very large commercial sized fridge/ freezing for your food. All tables were out but if you needed more they were very accessible. We paid in full in advance, we chose to pay for everyone's parking which we paid for at the end. Very easy. The girls loved riding the carousel a million times! Go to ny.gov keyword: Empire Pass. The same Pass can be used for unlimited visits at most parks and beaches throughout the State of New York. I passed by here on Memorial Day weekend. In plain view was a Park Police vehicle, so I felt safe. I also saw several people riding in a paddle boat. How fun! There are multiple clearly marked trails, which are great places to ride your bike or walk. There were several people feeding the ducks and geese in the lake, ignoring the signs that warn them not to do that. The two children's playgrounds are quite spacious, and leashed dogs are allowed. There are lots of picnic benches and huge tables. The restrooms have a lot of stinky toilets. Staff needs to clean them more often. Finally, BEWARE OF DEER TICKS! A few people said that they saw some, so bring some tick repellent.

I typically go to Seamans neck park to run along the 1.5 mile "walk/run fitness trail". Parts of the concrete path are definitely in need of repair, but overall it's a good path. There are lights along the entire path but the majority of them have not been lit when I've gone at night- only the ones right near the turf field have been on. There's two walk-in entrances and one drive in entrance, and large parking lots- one near the playground and one near the fields/dock. There's a nice view of the water that's directly across from Jones Beach. I've seen people fishing here quite often. There are baseball fields and a t-ball field, soccer fields, and a multipurpose turf field that was completed a few years ago but is still in good condition. There's a large playground that's great for a wide age range of kids. There's a rock splash pad area that probably isn't the safest, I had my fair share of scrapes there. Growing up I used to come to the free summer long programs. They offered a huge variety of sports and crafts. It was usually the highlight of my summer.

Don't park anywhere near his house of because he will come out and berate you. Instead drive up the dirt trail by the preserve sign and you will find a dirt lot. The birds and ducks are always cute so that is one plus. There is supposed to be a walking trail, but I tried walking it a couple of times to find it quite short and not much of a trail. There is a playground as well, but I have no experience with that part of the pond. And if you sit at the benches near the parking lot, chances you'll catch second hand cigarette smoke from the old guys who sit in their cars all day most days.

On a quiet day, you can see fish literally jumping out of the water.. how cool is that?! It seems to be quite the interesting park, with activity randomly converging from all directions. You have folks pulling over for a short respite, bikers emerging out of the nearby trail, the occasional lay fisherman near the bridge and boaters loading or unloading for the day. It's really a special slice of calm along the busy Atlantic Ave.
