Meg has been doing my hair forever! She always does a great job and is just the best!

We stopped for a quick haircut (head shave) for hubby before lunch on Saturday afternoon while on a 3 week road trip from Maryland. Lucy was super fun and helped us with special things to do in the Austin area. Then Meg and her hubby stopped by the salon and served us beer and margaritas( rarely do salons in our area serve alcohol) and more suggestions for our trip. I bought some beautiful hand painted insulated wine glasses made by Meg's sister and some fun beer koozies made by Meg were gifted to us. I've never had so much fun while my husband gets a haircut.And yes, hubby looked like Telly Savalas without a lollipop when finished. (You have to be over 60 years old to understand). This salon is old school - which is rare! 30 plus years in Round Rock! They offer a wide range of services. I was looking for a Brazilian Blowout - not a Keratin treatment. I started out here on a Groupon for a pedicure with Ashley, but had a "nail emergency" due to an issue with another salon. Ashley was gracious enough to work me in to do a gel manicure and pedicure (I didn't even care if they took the groupon or not for this visit-but they still did). I'm back to where gel manicures in the past had been--no peeling, proper removal (ie SOAK THEM OFF, no SCRAPING them off!). Based on the tool they are either one time use or sterilized, the pedicure bath is separate from chair (so no risk of recycled water going back into God knows where). Ashley is a PERFECTIONIST and knows her stuff. Easy to chat with, but no pressure to share my life story. Just a great way to spend my time getting a much needed "necessity" taken care of by a true professional. I already have a tried and true hair stylist with whom I've been for over 8 years, but the overall tone in the rest of the salon seems to be happy, family friendly, satisfied customers. I know that if the world fell apart, I'd probably be able to find a new "hair home" at Baxters, but for now I'm estatic I found a home for my hands! read more

I arrived 5 min. before my appointment with April, It was a first time visit. I waited 40 min. before walking out. I had rearranged my entire day to make my appointment on time. Do not schedule if you can't make the appointment on time. It affects more than just one persons schedule. Reliability is as important as cut. Michele read more

I have to radically disagree with the bad review. I have had nothing but good experiences at Baxters. In fact it is the only salon I have ever gone more than once here in Round Rock. I always make appointment to have Meg do my hair. And also they donated coupons for their services to our school fundraiser event once. I highly recommend them! read more

I had purchased a deal on a website for a cut and color at Baxters salon. My appointment was with Cathy and I am so thankful that it was! I've lived in Austin for 13 years and have had one heck of a time trying to find a good hairdresser that didn't want to charge me A gazillion dollars. Cathy's prices are very fair, she does a wonderful job, she is super, super nice and it was a pleasure to get my hair done by her and to have it turn out so well! I think the best part about having her do my hair was I didn't have to tell her all the things I didn't want done. I showed her a picture of what I liked from a cut I had in the past and she did it. I started out here with a Living Social deal or whatever and was very happy with the results! I made my appointment with Kat and loved her! I thought that I was going to go in and do a full color (the coupon was for full color or half highlights or something), and when I told her what I wanted to do she talked me through my decision and advised me not to. I am a natural dirty blonde and wanted to go Gwen Stefani, but she advised me that my hair would likely get really damaged. So we switched over to a highlight. When she was done, she was not 100% pleased with the results (even though I was) and offered to do my next one at a discount. When I came back and she did the highlights and color again I realized that the first time wasn't 100% because the 2nd time was beautiful! My hair looks like supermodel hair! Love it! So I have been back a 3rd time and am scheduled for my next. She is great! Love her! Love the place, they have free drinks! Can't beat that! Lol read more

I have gone to this salon for year's now and won't go anywhere else! Every time I walk through the door I always feel welcomed. I'm usually a very shy person but I am not afraid to tell the stylist what I like and don't like. There are multiple products available for any type of hair and the owner really know's her facts! Just had my haircut and highlights done by new hairstylist Cathy Plante. She did an awesome job! She actually listened to what I wanted and got it done right! She told me she has 35 years of experience and it shows! She is friendly and fast. I have been living here 3 years and I kept getting disappointed because I didn't like my haircuts or color and now I have found my hairstylist! read more

When I'm given an appointment, I'm on time (10-15 minutes early). When my stylist ISN'T on time (20-25 minutes late), it's rude and unprofessional. I won't be returning. So, now, instead of an hour and a half wait, I'm looking at over two hours. I brought a friend here because of perceptional kindness and professionalism; however, I regret it now. The stylists were loud and had absolutely no inhibitions about sharing their tiffs about their boyfriends. Totally inappropriate. Tiffany is nice, but timelines earns a bigger tip and my business. read more

Ashley -- Nail service. Great. Highly recommended. I used a Groupon, my first pedicure in many years. I was delighted with how professional, yet warm and open Ashley is. The private room she uses was comfortable and relaxing, and she spent at least an hour doing just my toes. I was so pleased I went back again a couple of months later, and plan to be a regular with her. Great choice of colors, great touch, and the polish job lasted for 2 months. She also had some recommendations for at home care for my feet, that were right on...they now look and feel better all the time, thanks to her advice. read more

I learned my lesson of purchasing deal vouchers to get a simple haircut. NEVER AGAIN! I had an appointment with a girl named Katherine and I was immediately interrupted with a ringing phone. Again, we re-introduced our selfs and again the phone rang and she answered it. This happened 7 times! It was not a great first impression. As I began to describe what I wanted done to my hair (clean up the layers and take very little off the length) I was told that she could not do a whole lot for me. "I don't think you are going to see much of a change," was her response. She began to cut and told me to CLOSE MY EYES!!! and that I may freak out to see the layer that she was about to cut. WHAT THE HECK???!!! Really??? She took a VERY large chunk of hair off the top of my head to make one solid layer. Mind you, the rest of my hair was long layers and to the middle of my back. So, I was left with a line of short hair just sitting at the top of my head...no blending...nada. She chopped my bangs WAY TOO SHORT and feathered them. Last I checked, this was 2011...not 1974! I asked her if she could cut it again after we were done to blend the length some more and she told me that she would have to charge me for another haircut!!! Um, no. She was unprofessional, rude, and not very good at her job. I will not be going back and I hope you don't go there either. Granted, I used a deal voucher to get this haircut but I could have just gone and laid down in the lawn while my husband cut our grass. I'm sure it would have looked better than what I left with. I looked like Lady Gaga had a love child with Paul McCartney. Awesome (sigh). read more

When I moved to Round Rock/Austin area as a platinum blonde I was nervous to go to anyone other than my previous colorist/stylist. I did a lot of research through the Alfaparf salespeople in the area and found Meg at Baxter's. I did a phone consultation and asked a lot of questions and decided to make an appointment based on her answers and the referrals. Meg listened to me and was very knowledgeable about the specific products I requested. My hair is still the perfect color of platinum blonde that I want and the cut is great too! Hair stylist Cathy Plante is the bomb!! After having long hair for so many years, I decided to go short! and not having a hair stylist, I started looking for one with good reviews, since the hair cut I wanted is kind of complex. I also wanted to have highlights, but having a black colored hair was not going to be an easy task to lift the color! So, I called the salon and spoke to Cathy, she was able to work on my hair the same day, which was great!! I left the Salon that day, so happy!! the highlights and the hair cut was so unique, that only a real experienced hairstylist can achieve! I will recommend Cathy to anyone who wants a unique and complex hair cut and cant find a real hairstylist with great experience like Cathy. I also, have to mention that the setting of the Salon, will remind you of what we see in movies in the old days, as far as family owned, friendly and down to earth atmosphere, not like some franchise salon, where you feel rushed!! read more

I recently got a haircut from Pam Moore (she's new). Asked her to layer 1" of hair and slightly rounded at the sides. Instead got 5" of hair layered plus sides cut really short. Looks like a mullet in the back. Awful. Will never go to this salon or stylist ever again. Now I need to find someone to fix this plus the added cost. read more
