I just moved to the area and was looking for a dry cleaner to bring my clothes regularly and decided to give this place a try. I came in on Saturday (9/13) and brought in a pair of suits and a dress for a dry clean, one dress for hem alteration and two shirts for laundry. Since I was a new customer, I have asked the lady each price of the service. I was told my dress would have cost me $19.90 for dry clean. However, when I picked up my dress on Wednesday (9/17) in the evening, the different lady told me the cost was $29.99 instead. When I asked, she just simply told me that the other lady was probably looking at a different price. Unfortunately the original ticket didn't have a price on it. So please be careful when you are going to this place to get your clothes clean. They might have given you a different price at the end. Probably asking them to write the price on the ticket is a good idea to avoid some discrepancy. Too bad they are losing a potential regular customer since I won't come back! read more

I have been going to this dry cleaner for years and it's out of laziness. The last straw was when we went through 9 shirts we had dry cleaned and found one in the middle that was not cleaned. It was wrinkled and wasn't buttoned at the top like all the other shirts. When I brought it back in, the owner was defensive and asked where it was wrinkled and that the shirt was clean and the button must have come undone. Even if that was the case ( it was clear this shirt was not cleaned) why would he argue with a customer who has been bringing him business for years about one shirt? Just take it back and fix it. Before this incident, I came to the shop one morning when it was supposed to be open and it was still closed. He was 15 minutes late. When he arrived, he went to the back to do whatever. He finally came to the front and opened the door and said nothing to me. No "hello", "I am so sorry", or "thank you for waiting". I should have been done then but I guess I needed a kick in the bottom twice... This was the motivation I needed to find another place. Do not go here. read more

today was the last straw with this spot. I have taken things to get repaired and dry cleaned for a while. I always examine the work because it's inconsistent. things arent fully cleaned properly or a repair and mending is not done right. So I look before I leave the premises to address any issues. frankly, I let a lot slide. but today was just ridiculous. I brought in a silk top. it's older and delicate. it had some small holes from its age and wear and those were the only tears. I took it in to be dry cleaned. well they didn't dry clean it because they ripped it in several places along the collar and blamed it on the shirt for being old. then they were going to charge ME for repairing it. I said that those tears were not present when I brought in the shirt and then the older owner lady said that I should stop going there because I complain too much. seriously? I'm "complaining" because I'm holding you accountable to the damage you created on my shirt and because I address when you've done a crummy job? she's right, I will not return. and for those of you reading this, you can either go and find out for yourself, and decide if the numerous bad reviews here are fair warning to stay away and give your money to a dry cleaning business where the people treat you with courtesy. read more

I have been coming here since we moved close by in 2018. I wrote this review because when I saw some of the other reviews, it was hard for me to believe it was the same place. Usually, there is a young woman (I think her name is Mial?) who is always so friendly. They have always done a great job in dry cleaning but the other day, I asked for some pants to be hemmed. I dropped off a shirt to have some stains removed. In a rush, she put tape only over one of the stains. I assumed that would be fine since the stains were in the same general area. When I picked up the shirt, all of the stains were still there and the bill was $9! That seems expensive for failing at the task requested. Next time I was going to wear it I discovered it was ripped horribly all over the fabric, it had green and blue stains all over it. When I took it back I expected some kind of offering or at least an apology, given the fact that it was irreparable. I waited for the two owners to come and talked to me, they both came in full barrels and told me that I bought it in ripped like that and practically accused me of lying and trying to cheat them somehow. Very rude loud and obnoxious people. Yelling at me a customer taking turns. He actually told me to get out of his store. I have beautiful clothes and take good care of it. Why would I bring a ripped and stained blouse to have dry cleaned that is unwearable and disgusting? They turned the fabric looking like the dog chewed it up and spit it out. This is actually not the first item I've gotten back clothes from them in a less than satisfactory condition but I've given them a benefit of the doubt thinking it was a one off. BAY CLEARNERS works very hard and does an OUTSTANDING JOB of cleaning and alterations. 99% We have been going there for many years and have never had a significant problem. Nobody's perfect. I brought my brand Toto bag had a small coffee stain. I have asked them if they can clean it. A man working ,probably owner s husband, they destroyed my toto bag. My toto bag fabric was torn and all of leather parts got burned as dark brown. I have phone called this shop after a week ,a lady over the phone said " Do not bring this thin fabric bag" to me. anyway after the phone call ,I want there twice, the man was so offensive ,talked to me so loud even I have never asked them money. He asked me how much was it ? it was about $1,000 over sea country but I don't know exact of the cost .He started yelling at me. "I don't think this bag was that much" go away' to me. I pointed out the areas of focus, dropped it off and crossed my fingers. Came back to an amazing dry cleaning job, spots were removed and no chemical smell. Maio is the seamstress at Bay 1 Hour Cleaners. She has done a good job with various projects for me. I sewed a skirt to be "velcroed" around a stationery tub in my laundry room. My sewing machine couldn't handle the Velcro thickness. Maio sewed for me. I bought some inexpensive linen pillow covers that I wanted cut down and she did a perfect job. These things certainly aren't life or death but it's nice to know a seamstress that will do these kind of home decor projects. read more

ELLIOTT I will never go back this was the worst experience I've ever had!!!! Very sad, I brought in three pair of pants in on Saturday .. I wanted to get a press only!! There's no price list nowhere in the cleaners.. They print you out a receipt with no price on it .. That's their trick don't leave Bay Cleaners without knowing how much they charge because they will overcharge you .. So when I picked up the pants today, they charge me full price as if I got them dry, cleaned and pressed if I would've knew that I would've got them dry cleaned also ...smh I recommend not going to this cleaners. So beyond done! This dry cleaner is convenient as it's on my way home. Unfortunately, last year they lost a new sweater and because my bf didn't count the items when he picked up our dry cleaning, they wouldn't search for it. It was just gone. Do not take anything special or of sentimental value to this dry cleaner. I took a wool high school letter jacket for dry cleaning. I don't know what they did but the burgundy wool and embroidery bled, turning the white hood pink. No one could explain to me what happened. They could not remedy it. I've been going to this dry cleaners for 3 years since I moved to the neighborhood. The older gentleman up front was always so nice and even remembered me by last name!! I had a summer dress altered early last year and it stayed in my closet until I went to pack it and try it on. It was hemmed short in the front long on the sides. I figured I could just take it in and have them do an even cut. My mistake. The manager was in, said I never brought the dress in and said they would never alter a dress like that. I'm sure it was in their computer system, but I don't have time to try and convince a company where I've given my business to every week for almost 3 years that I am not a liar. I've been coming to this cleaners for years since my cleaners across the street (now Pete's) closed. Their prices have doubled for dry cleaning in the last year and I brought a dress in to have the straps shortened and another to shorten the straps and hem and the woman charged me $65. Something that I would have paid $40 for in the past. At least warn me ahead of time and not stick me with an unexpected price when I pick the dresses up. read more

Very reliable; always do a good job with my cleaning; always ready when promised. Friendly staff. They will go out of their way to accommodate your special requests. Excellent tailoring services too. Open until 7 on weekdays and 'til 6 on Saturday, so they're convenient to use. They're not cheap, but not out of line with other area cleaners. And after you've picked up your cleaning, you can head over to Sparky's (which they also run) for a burger. :) read more

Getting 4 stars as a dry cleaner from me is a big deal! This is basically a "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Their prices are reasonable to lower than average. Their attention to your clothes is IMPECCABLE! The staff is very friendly. I have never had a problem with their service. However, I can not give them that fifth star, because they have been late on a couple of occasions with getting my shirts laundered (as in, they miss the scheduled pick-up night). As I said earlier, this is not a problem for me as I live close by, but I wanted to reflect their occasional tardiness in the rating I give. All said, this is the best dry cleaner that I have used in my 10 years of needing to use a dry cleaner for business attire. That's worth something, right? read more

No-hassle dry-cleaning with parking steps away. Their prices per dress shirt is extremely reasonable ($1.25). They have abandoned clothing items behind the counter that funny when you look at it. For example, there is a comforter that hasn't been picked up since the tag reading 2010. C'mon public-at-large, just throw it out or recycle it. Been using Bay Cleaners for a while with no problems. A coupe of days ago, I went to put on a suit that had just come back from them. Both buttons on the jacket were "broken". Still attached, but cracked at the top. I brought the jacket back to them and told them I did not bring the jacket in with broken buttons and I asked them to replace them. When I went to pick up the repair, they charged me for the replacements. When I reminded them that the jacket was not given to them with broken buttons they said it was because the buttons were cheap buttons. That's why they broke. I told them it wasn't the cost that was upsetting to me, it was that they were not taking responsibility for the damage. I don't expect that a $1,500 Armani suit would have "cheap" buttons. I paid for the repair and did leave more dry-cleaning. But I am very disappointed with them. read more

Sitting here in front of the store fuming. Brought in a pair of slacks to be hemmed for a performance I am dancing in and tonight is dress rehearsal and pictures. The woman promised I would have them by 5pm tonight as I specifically told her I had to be in San Anselmo by 6pm. Well I arrive at 5pm and she plays dumb like she hardly recognized me and they sent my pants out to be hemmed and they werent ready yet. It's 5:45pm now. It was a quick and simple drop off at the cleaners. I used to go to a location in Alameda because it was close to home and the service there, wasn't the greatest. They lost an item there and I received it a month later. This place is fast and efficient, and not to forget to mention, close to home. This is will be my new cleaners for now. They have a large sign on their front window saying "WE USE NO CHEMICALS"... great for me since I am allergic. The sweater I picked up for dry cleaning smelled so strong even my husband couldn't take it! So I took it back. Very disappointed! We have been customers of this cleaners for 30+ years. We recently dropped off a rug for cleaning. The clerk working said she did not know how much it would cost to clean but that the owner would call us to advise. Hearing nothing, my husband called a few days later and was quoted $70.00. He said that was fine and that they may proceed with the cleaning. She said it would be ready for pickup August 12. We went to pick up on August 17. The clerk said she would need to call her boss for the price. She then said it would be $145. We corrected her, telling her we were quoted $70. She said that was a mistake, and that we would need to pay the $145. My husband then asked for her to call her boss back; she did - the boss/owner then said it was $140 (price changed again from $145); that the prior $70 quote was an error. After arguing that it was HER mistake, not ours, she said she would accept $110. We ultimately paid the $110 so that we could get our rug back, but we are angry that we had to pay the difference for HER "mistake" in intially quoting $70.00. This business rates itself as a careful dry cleaning service, but they recently ruined two expensive garments of mine. I should have realized that this business is set up for large loads of cleaning and is not equipped to handle delicate items. I went in here with my uniforms for a clean and press, when I came to pick them up at 5pm it looked as if no type of work was done on them.. I had to wait around just so they can actually do the job they were suppose to do when I dropped my items off at 8am after waiting the woman brought my items back to me and it still looked the same I just grabbed my property and left I didn't feel like arguing with her on a job she should know how to do ....this will be the first and last time I come here... Have used this cleaners for awhile now. Location is convenient for me, and usually their prices are reasonable. But today I picked up my shirts and for one of them they charged an extra $4.75. Not total, but EXTRA $4.75 for one of the several shirts. When I questioned the lady she said in her monotone non-customer service tone, "extra charge. Shirt linen. Had to iron by hand." I didn't even remember this shirt, that I have had for years, was linen. But it was. I have taken this shirt to many cleaners, including this one before, and never had this happen. I understand an extra charge for something that requires special handling; but that should be discussed when I drop it off, or call me if there is a special circumstance like that. I was miffed. She was not even pleasant about it. One lady that works there is quite nice; but this one in particular isn't necessarily rude, but has a very dull and dismissive tone. Normally I don't care much; I am not there to be charmed. But this interaction really irritated me. Even a "sorry for the misunderstanding"would have smoothed it over;but her robotic manner and disregard or disinterest in pleasing a customer was annoying. I was dropping off several more shirts to be cleaned but I politely asked for them back. She seemed not in the least bit concerned that she was now losing business.
