AIS (Matt and Chase) did a fantastic job installing my new 48'' gas cooktop and overhead hood vent-fan. The job required removing the old units, enlarging the counter cutout, and installing new units. They found the current electrical connection was not suitable for new hood power, so added a new outlet where needed. Matt was easy to work with, much of our business was done via text. Once I received the appliances, he fit me into his schedule promptly, arrived on time, and worked efficiently through the job. He and Chase were friendly and focused on their quality work. They installed everything perfectly including slight touches, and Matt gave excellent advice on the best way to clean stainless appliances. AIS was a godsend! My contractor (Steve Byrne of Essex Construction) paid an installer under the table to do what was supposed to be an authorized install of my cooktop and hood. The hood (blower) has not worked since the kitchen was finished and ready for use. The contractor wouldn't take any responsibility for it, repeatedly trying to shift blame on to the store where I purchased the appliance and the appliance manufacturer. After a year and a half, I finally fixed the hood with the help of AIS. Their knowledge of custom install nuances was evident, their customer service amazing and everyone with whom I interacted was responsive and personable. I was very happy with their work installing a Wolf coooktop. The lead technician was very calm, happy, friendly and knowledgeable and knew exactly what he was doing from the drill out of knob template to the install itself and gave useful tips on how to care for the wolf as well. Price was higher than other vendors I looked at but they were wolf certified so get longer warranty from vendor and after he installed it was extremely happy with them and would definately hire again. With wolf I would say the other very critical part for cooktop is a very accurate cutout. Hire a good countertop person as well and check the dimensions carefully before your installer comes to make sure you don't need countertop guy to come back. read more

Issac was super diligent about scheduling. We had an extremely loud internal blower and had AIS (Matt and Mike) out to give a quote for a remote blower. After hearing our unit, they immediately indicated something was wrong with it and getting a new one would be much easier and cheaper than a remote blower. I spoke to Wolf who replaced it for free. When AIS came back we discovered Wolf had sent the wrong blower so rather than just pack up and leave they called their contacts to find out which was the correct one and how we might expedite it. After the correct unit came in they returned and installed it in less than an hour. Thank you AIS!!! read more

Appliance Installation Specialists (AIS) installed the stainless steel panels and handles on my Fisher & Paykel built-in refrigerator on 10/01/18. About a year later the handles on the doors were loose. I contacted AIS and they sent someone out to tighten the handles for a charge of $190 on 11/21/19. The repairman from AIS said that the handles had been installed incorrectly the first time. On 9/14/20 the handle on one of the doors came loose again. When I contacted AIS to have the handle tightened again (free of charge), I was told that they would get back to me. I hadn't heard from AIS for three weeks so I contacted them on 10/05/20. I talked to Martin. He said he would send someone out to fix the handle on our refrigerator the next time they had someone working in the Santa Cruz area. He said he would keep in touch. I didn't hear from Martin for a month, so I called AIS on 11/05/20. I talked to Drake. He had a record of my request for service. He said he would call me back shortly. I haven't heard from him or anyone else at AIS since. Based on this experience, Appliance Installation Specialists is a company that does not stand behind its work. read more

AIS is a first rate organization in every way. They were called in by Bosch to exchange out a new dishwasher which was not working properly. They were so knowledgeable, extremely professional, and careful. They protected my porcelain tile floors with blankets, put a hard plastic surface next to the dishwasher before removing the old one and were careful not to get a drop of waster either inside my kitchen cabinets or on the floors. They then asked for a vacuum cleaner to vacuum out dust left from my kitchen cabinets remodel several years earlier. They gave me some special tips on operating my new dishwasher that I would not have known before. They are friendly, & you can tell that they love what they do. I will only use them for all my appliance repairs in the future & will highly recommend them to my friends. read more

Top notch work but very expensive. I had them pick up a subzero refrigerator 5 miles from my house, park 50 feet from my kitchen, bring the unit down 8 wide stairs through a big front door and install it in a space that previously had a subzero and needed no special work to accommodate the new unit. Unbolt and remove old refrigerator, screw in water supply, plug in and screw the new unit into the space exactly the size of the new refrigerator. Most of the work was accomplished in just over two and a half hours by two workers. They were neat and tidy and protected my floors and were helpful in showing me how to use the fridge. Near the end, two more guys showed up to supervise the leveling of the refrigerator and cleanup. I was astonished that the bill was over $1400. I didn't see them pick the unit up in the morning (they were at my house before 8 AM so I can't imagine it was time consuming) and I'm sure there was a fee associated with discarding the old refrigerator. Still-I wouldn't have minded paying $1400 plus if it involved some woodwork or plumbing or electrical work, but this was just a simple job that any handyman could have easily accomplished-no special skills-plug it in, stick in a few wood screws to keep it still and haul off the old one-$1400 plus! read more

My experience with AIS was horrible and I gave them 3 chances. They deserve a negative star rating! From the get go I was given bad information about what stove hood to buy, As soon as any issues arise their customer service goes to a zero, they are difficult to get a return call from, They canceled my install twice, Their price went up 100% for minor work the owner told me would be no problem at less than $100 but they wanted $500 and they responded with "Its because of insurance and they workers need to make money too", I tried to get the owner involved and he never returned my calls ( He was one of the original workers who came out with bad information). I doubt their ability to do anything right and highly recommend you move on to anyone with a pulse! read more

AIS installed a new +/- 800 lb stove at ny rather difficult of access house. The were thoroughly professional throught. I had otdered the stove (American Range, manufactured in California) at Dvorson's in Sausalito, and AIS picked it up from Dvorson's on the appointed date, removed my old stove, and installed the new stove without a hitch. At every step of the way, the called or emailed to advise of timing; a month prior to delivery sent a qualified installer to assess their needs for installation and prepare an estmate. I inherited a 25 year old 48" Subzero refrig with a house I recently bought. I needed to have it pulled out and re-plugged into a dedicated circuit that was just run. The nearest Subzero dealer wanted to charge a lot and didn't seem too sure about it but they referred me to AIS who does installs. Alex and his coworker showed up the same day and knew exactly what they were doing. They protected the flooring, pulled it out, re-pulgged the unit, replaced the old copper water pipe with flexible tubing, repositioned it better than before flush with the trim, and installed a non-tip bar. They also flipped one of the door panels for me that had been installed incorrectly. Their minimum charge is $150 but they'd told me before hand that if the unit had to be completely pulled out it would be their install fee of $350. Not too cheap but there were no surprises and they did excellent work. Hopefully this will keep my antique working for another decade or so. E read more

Couldn't be happier with the service I received from Matt, Mike and Tony. They replaced a gigantic Viking refrigerator on a warranty job, and did everything right that the original install crew did wrong. They took painstaking care to not damage our walls or floors. In less than three hours, they removed the old unit, moved an electrical outlet, resized a cabinet opening, installed the new fridge, cleaned it to showroom perfection, and tidied up after themselves. They were cheerful, professional, hilarious, competent, and meticulous. I'm an absolute perfectionist, and they exceeded every expectation I had. If I could give zero stars I would. This company is a sham. Martin had a crew come to my home to quote me for an appliance package installation. The team that came out measured and quoted me $1400 for 5 appliances including the haul away. 18 hours before my scheduled installation Martin called me to confirm the arrival time and then informed me that the installation quote had changed to $4500. His team made a mistake and if I still wanted my appliances installed this was the min quote. WHAT A CROOK! He was rude, unapologetic, and could care less that I ordered these appliances only after I understood the install cost. This new quote was over 300% of his quote 7 weeks ago. DO NOT USE THEM!!! I cannot say enough good things about this company. They are fantastic -- the service is excellent, the knowledge and ingenuity is unsurpassed. Why they are NOT the go to installers of high end appliances I don't understand. I remodeled my kitchen ordered new appliances last year July 16, 2016. I bought a hood that was clearly marked as a wall hood and the appliance store did their inspection and gave me the okay for installation. The appliances were delivered and installed in October, but the hood could not be installed because custom vent cover was too long and yes we measured, but I took the advice of the sales person instead of going with my measurement, so I had to order another one -- 2.5 months later and finally the other vent cover was delivered. It was at this time that the installer for the appliance company realized that the hood was a ceiling mount and we need to open up the brand new ceiling to hang the hood -- so no hood and its the Friday before Christmas. Now mind you my contractor asked everyone (the inspector the installers and the sales person) how is the hood going to installed before he closed up the walls and ceiling -- they all said wall mount. He asked several times because when he looked at the specs he knew right away it was not a wall mount. Then when the hood was delivered he asked again and the installer said wall mount. We had to involve the manufacturer, appliance store, the installers, the inspector that did the inspection for the installation and they all were puzzled. Then the manufacturer said "oh the instructions are wrong it's a ceiling mount, but we already knew that. This is where Appliance Installation Specialists comes in, they sent an inspector to look at the hood he knew right away it was a wall mount, but he tried to figure out a way to install without opening the ceiling. Nothing could be done, mounting it to the wall would not be safe. I had to order a new hood and had several hiccups with the appliance store and manufacturer. They couldn't find the hood, it was on order, it was being built, it was being shipped, etc. The only voice of reason and comfort was Appliance Installation Specialists. They called to let me know they were going to do the installation, set an appointment even when they knew the hood had not been shipped, they were concerned that it was their busy time of year and wanted to make sure I was on their books. They also put me non a wait list just in case an earlier appt was canceled. They called to let me know how many people would show up, about how long it would take, the estimate, everything you wanted to know they told me without me asking. When the hood arrived Appliance Installation Specialists called me to let me know it was here NOT the appliance store. They also reminded me of the who, what and when. Today they installed the hood and it was not easy, there were some issues with the way my contractor did some things, but these guys worked it out. They thought through all the different scenarios along with impacts and walked me through every one, so you can make an informed decision. They are quick, VERY neat -- my kitchen floor is cleaner than when they started -- EXTREMELY professional and they really know their stuff. If I were given the option to use this company from the beginning I would have known there was issue the minute the hood was delivered and not 2.5 months later -- meaning my hood would have been installed last year and not 6.5 months after they realized there was problem. This was just a delivery service since the kitchen was not ready. They were very rude, so we sent the items back to the warehouse and then requested for a installation when we were readt. We rebuilt a home in Danville, CA and had an amazing experience with AIS! Matt, Sam and Antonio were professional, super helpful, calm, and able to install and entire kitchen without a hiccup and did many work arounds when it came to poor planning on our cabinet installers and designers. These guys cared about our kitchen and preexisting structures, the surroundings were carefully protected including our hardwood floors and countertops and cabinets. I recently purchased a wolf prof range hood, AIS is one of the certified installers with sub-zero/wolf and can do the island range hood installation so I hired them for the job. They gave a quote up front with details, such as installing the hood for $650, installing the external blower for $650, uninstall the hood for $300, deinstall the old blower for $150, third person needed $150, trip surcharge $20. They added up to about $2000 for installing a range hood. I had another contractor quoted me $1100 for the job, but I decided to go with AIS to qualify the full warranty. The installation went smooth, there was no modification to the venting or rebuild framing, no unforeseen difficulties. At the end of day, I was billed $310 extra for the material. In the quote, they did note material or parts to be decided, but $310 for hardwood board, some flashings, glue and nails? I appreciated their workmanship, and willing to pay high price for that, $1900 for a few hours of work by mostly one installer, and one roofer( the rest staffs are only needed when the hood needed to be lifted and held in place). but I was quite disappointed by the way they are billing the customers, which is, trying to squeeze as much as possible. I tried to ask AIS to explain the materials and it was brought down to $210. So if cost is not an issue to you, AIS is probably the to-go place. read more

The tech's they sent out to install a our built-in microwave ( which included the delicate drilling of holes in our tile backsplash ) were Bobbie Simmons and Chase LaVelle. Don't trust the quotes, they will just waste your time. I just asked them to leave when they told me it would be an extra $500 to install a built in fridge. I was quotes $300 to install a custom panel fridge, knowing it had to be secured into place (already in place, just screwed in) and panels installed. Only when they came, the price jumped from $300 to $800, apparently it costs over $100 to install a handle on each door. I politely asked them to leave. That kind of service is not service. Oh, and an extra $50 for a p trap when I was already quoted $150 to install a garbage disposal. Overpriced and dishonest. Poor customer service. read more

My experience with AIS was horrible, I purchased a 48 Samsung refrigerator(which I love) along with other appliances for my kitchen. Western Appliances recommended AIS. They had a few cancellation so they were able to install early. Sammy,Chase, and Drake showed up and in my opinion did not want to install the unit, they did not even open the box until I got Shawn on the line and he talked to them. They finally installed the refrigerator, when I saw the unit I was so UPSET, they put two 2 x 4 pieces of wood under and the grill over but now you can see the wood. I called Martin at AIS to come back and remove the wood and they are ignoring me and making excuses. I had Mike the manager of Western Appliances come to my house to measure the opening for my refrigerator and so far I'm still waiting to get this thing fixed. The rest of my appliances are Thermador. I should add that I refused to pay AIS until they remove the wood so I can get a trim piece. read more

First never called me back after I leave a message, and then claimed when I followed up a week later that they were having phone problems. The lady I dealt with at first was nice. It did take over a week for an estimate without a site inspection. They wanted to charge $150 to plug in my refrigerator, it's not a built in, and they weren't going to delivery it. For the site inspection estimate, I was given a 5 hour window for an inspection, then e day before they shortened it to 2 hours. When there was 20 mins left of window I called as I couldn't stay home all night, I had already cleared schedule for 5 hours. Guy can't reach his installer, so says he will call me back. Hr calls me back with five minutes left of my window and says guy is held up and won't be over today. Doesn't say sorry, sounds like I'm annoying him., so I called him on it. He gives me a sarcastic sorry and says maybe he can fit me in two days from now. I say okay, if I can be first customer so I won't have to wait. He says they can't tell what routes will be so they can't say yes to that. I start to say I'm really disappointed in their customer service and are worried (as this was just a site inspection for an estimate) that they will be as unorganized come installation, the guy -Martin- says, then hire someone else and hangs up on me. I call back to ask for a supervisor or manager,mor even owner and no one answered. Don't use this company. read more

Horrible experience. Two guys came to install our oven, informed us the person who came to give a consultation did it wrong. Then, did a decent job installing it, charged us a lot of money to "install and test", left because it was in working condition. When we turned it on, did not work- only to find out they did not actually test it at all- or give us any information about why it was not working. They did not give us a refund, on their website - they say work is warrantied, when they did not perform the services we paid for. The manager calls me, tells me he won't consider any other option of payment since they put an oven in a cabinet, and hangs up. Worst experience. read more

We bought a range from Airport Appliances. They call AIS for installation for their customers. We didn't know anything about them but went ahead anyway. I want to say that they were wonderful. From the first phone call for scheduling last week until the new unit was in and the old one was out today, I have nothing negative to say. They were pleasant. They were upfront on how much everything was going to cost. They were caring of my beloved hardwood floors. They were clean. They were efficient. They were not annoyed at my curiosity and question-asking. They understood my need to keep everything aesthetic. They came up with ideas that I would have never thought of to make the installation even more custom to my space. I couldn't be more pleased with the service. If you get Alex & Daniel, you are in for a treat! They are a great team together and I felt like family members were installing our range because they seemed to genuinely care. Fabulous service! We contacted AIS based on a recommendation from Airport Appliances, when we realized our original remodeling company had failed to mount the dishwasher correctly (we were SO done with those guys, we decided to pay someone else to fix it). Nicole responded to my e-mail right away, and was very responsive thereafter as we figured out a convenient time for the appointment. They called the night before to confirm the appointment, and Chino called on the day to say exactly when he would be there. He was punctual, professional, friendly, and efficient. He explained what he was doing, made sure our floor was protected as he did the work, did a test when he was done, and cleaned up after himself thoroughly. He was then kind enough to check the installation on all of the other appliances, and reassured me by testing each one that they were alright. We couldn't be happier with AIS, and will call on them whenever we need any appliances installed. Great job!! read more

It's been a couple of months since Matt and his team installed our 30" Thermador refrigerator. These guys are the best! Super intelligent, careful, professional and thoughtful. Our job was very challenging and it required four men for about three hours. Matt led his team with the utmost perfectionism. When one is spending this kind of money on high-end appliances for small San Francisco flats, the stakes are high. Somehow, the guys were able to get the new fridge installed (with about " to spare on all sides), perfectly balanced and aligned, and the old fridge out, without damaging or scratching our walls or floor. There was a small glitch (a part was missing) and Matt came back as soon as Cherin's located it. He personally finished the job. I hate to say it, but sometimes install teams are not the brightest folks...I was really nervous about the complexity of the job and the difficulty of doing it right within the tight confines of our space (and two steep flights of stairs) but Matt really inspires confidence. He is a very smart and competent installer. Of course. you are paying top dollar for this expertise, but it is well worth it. I highly recommend AIS. read more

I ordered a 42" built-in Sub Zero refrigerator from Cherin's Appliances in San Francisco. They strongly recommended I use AIS to remove my 42" built-in Monogram and install my new 42" built-in Sub Zero refrigerator even though there were more economical options available. AIS sent Mike and Bob for their pre-site inspection and both of these guys were a part of AIS' four man installation team that removed my old refrigerator and installed my new Sub Zero refrigerator. They protected every inch of stair and flooring during the Sub Zero installation and removal of my old refrigerator. Mike and Bob took all the time necessary to be sure the electrical and water lines were properly connected and that each kitchen cabinet and refrigerator drawer all opened and closed easily as if this Sub Zero refrigerator was part of the original kitchen remodel instead of being an after the fact replacement. Too often you hear people claim "you get what you pay for" when trying to justify being overpriced but in this case paying more for AIS to install was absolutely worth it to me. I would strongly encourage anyone with a challenging Sub Zero or Wolf installation to contact AIS in Livermore CA. because chances are you will be more than happy to pay AIS for an absolutely top notch professional installation like I was. read more

We recently purchased a sub zero refrigerator from Cherin's in San Francisco and this is the company they contacted to install our appliance. AIS is pricey, but extremely professional and therefore worth it. Several years ago we purchased a dishwasher that was poorly installed (we did not purchase the dishwasher from Cherin's). AIS contacted us several times regarding the installation date. They showed up when they said they would, used cardboard and plastic runners to cover our hardwood floor, removed the old refrigerator, installed the new refrigerator, and removed all packaging associated with the new refrigerator. Alex and Daniel (the two installers) asked questions and made suggestions about how to align the refrigerator with the countertop and cabinetry. While the two installers were here, I had them look at the poorly installed dishwasher. The dishwasher was basically rolled under the counter. The AIS installers pulled out their leveler to start with.... the dishwasher was not level. Next, they ran down to their truck to see if they could find 2 brackets to attach the dishwasher underneath the counter. Then they asked me several questions about how I would like the dishwasher aligned with the cabinetry. The dishwasher is now firmly and nicely installed! Since having an appliance installed is something that we all do so seldom, I wanted to make sure Yelpers knew about this great company.
