I always come here when I need my car serviced because it's close to my area and Eric and his team are amazing! They're always ready to take my car in as confirmed and work pretty quickly but thoroughly as well. Sometimes it'll take anywhere from 1-2 hours but I always work on my laptop since they have free WiFi posted which is super nice when you want to get some work in while waiting. They also have water/tea if needed. Today I got a quick oil change and had to get my splash guard aligned because I roughed it up pretty badly. When they told me how curled/banged up it was but were able to flatten it back and realign it, I couldn't have been more thankful. If you drive a low car or have been in one, you know your booty puckers up when you hear the metal scraping and I'm so glad it's finally fixed (after like 3 weeks oops). Quick, easy, in and out. My passenger brake wasn't working & was told it was the wiring & was even showed a graph of the diagnostic. Estimate was for over $300. Took it to a different shop & they replaced the brake light bulb plus the license plate lights for about $49 that included 2 free Lyft rides. I do not recommend this place. read more

Service was ok and thought not much of it until I came home to do a little research. I paid $149.28 for 6 plugs and later found out they ripped me off. Could've got the same for $55-60. That's a 170% markup! Lost around $95 on extra charge. Future customers, buy your own parts first after asking what parts they will be using. Also borrow an OB2 reader from O Riley's to save yourself $ on unneeded repairs like I did. I felt scammed knowing they could've used a 5 minute OB2 reading to let me know it was a coil problem not spark plugs, coupled with using 170% marked up parts. Wasted $400+. Felt a little predatory. Good luck Reply to Owner: I did let them know I wanted spark plugs replaced from finding a similar case online. I take blame for not using a OB2 reader before going in. However, as professionals it would have been nice if you guys performed a 5 min OB2 reading like O Riley's. It would have saved everyone parts, costs, time and business. With that said, my post was mostly about the $95 markup on parts. That's a 170% markup on parts. That's just crazy. I already paid high labor cost of $225. Hence the feeling of being scammed. Went in during lunch time to see if I could get a quote for a driver side mirror replacement, as someone had torn out my mirror and it was dangling by wires. Even though they were completely booked, the gentleman at the counter took the time to take a look at my car and assess the damage. I had brought my car to get my 60K maintenance done at 8am, earlier today. I went to pick up my car at 4PM then I get a text with my information from "Oscar" stating that he's my mechanic with the confirmed place that I had just picked up my car from 3.5 hrs ago. Then he tells me they're going to charge me an additional $1200 from what I had already paid along with the company's phone number to call if I have questions. This made me so upset and frustrated. I thought I found a super close by auto shop near my house and I would be able to trust this shop and the people who work there. Vile. I am horrified and disgusted that they tricked me and threatened me with debt collectors if I did not pay them. Only after threatening them that I will be contacting the police did they state "wrong customer". I would not recommend this shop as your information cannot be confidential and who knows, others might fall for their trap and get scammed by these people. read more

Trustworthy auto repair shop! These guys are the only folks I trust, to make my car safe for my family, day in and day out. Safety first, wouldn't want to risk safety repairs with any other shop. Got my mazda 3 here the other day for a standard full-car inspection. The owner actually came out and took over himself. The staff there are all very friendly--they knew what parts needed fixing and which parts didn't. Some parts that I thought needed fixing, they told me is not necessary, even though they could have just said "yes" and charged me for extra service, they didn't. You can tell they cared about quality rather than making a quick buck. The staff knew everything about my car, inside and out. The service was quick. Pretty much fixed everything within a day. The price is good too. Early in the morning I saw another potential customer walk in asking for a quote as she was shopping around different shops. In the afternoon when I picked up my car, I saw the same customer fishing out her wallet paying for some kind of service. The last thing I need, is other shop's low-quality repairs, causing me to be stuck on the side of the road with my family waiting for a tow truck. My car was making a strange noise and I, of course, looked to Yelp to find a shop since I was not too familiar with San Jose auto shops. I came here on a Friday morning and Eric, the owner, was super helpful. He diagnosed it right away and gave me a quote and a time estimate. He took care of my filter replacements, oil change, tire rotation, and made sure it was in good shape. It was finished before the estimated time and he gave me a call. Once I got back, he explained the issue regarding my oil and showed me how to check my own oil (yes, it's true, I embarrassingly did not know how to check my car's oil level before this). He invited me to bring my car back in a couple weeks to make sure everything is fine. I brought my car back two weeks later and Juan inspected my car. He showed me the bottom of my car and explained everything to me. I have never had someone explain and physically show me the parts they were inspecting. I visited Eric at BYOC back in February. This review is long overdue. I had been going to the same trusted mechanic for 20+ years in Orange County. When I moved up here and felt some things were off about my car, I immediately began looking for someone I could trust. Because I drive the 700 mile trip to and back from OC every month, my car has to be in good condition. I first reached out to Eric via yelp to request a quote. He responded super fast. I had quite a list of items for him to check out. I expected to pay an inspection fee. When I arrived at the shop, Eric was cordial, gave the attention that was needed right away, and stepped out to take a look at my car. He gave it quite a through inspection while listening to all my concerns. We spent almost half an hour conversing. He helped me understand the issues, in what order it had to be done, and didn't try to force any kind of fix on the spot. He even looked out for my gain above his profit, and suggested another shop where I could get the same top quality tires, but at a better price. When I tried to pay for his services, he told me no need! Who does that?! I'll be going to Eric later this summer for engine oil, brakes, filter, and suspension services. Staff here is very responsive, and provided great service. I'm definitely not "car smart" so I went in with a lot "I'm having this issue with this part, but I'm not sure what the actual problem is?" I had issues with my headlights, tire pressure, needed a smog check, and wanted to get the e-brake checked out. Carlos was working the front desk, and was very thorough, and explained they will look at the issues I've mentioned, and call me back with a quote based on the actual problem. I had a very bad experience with BYOC auto repair this last month. This review will be lengthy, as I believe BYOC used predatory tactics. I am in my 70's, but in earlier days did a very large amount of auto repair. As I'm not eager to do so now, I decided I would have the work done. This means I'm very knowledgeable. Out 1999 Plymouth Voyager van blew its head gasket due to overheating - not sufficient coolant. I knew it immediately, large amount of steam coming out the tailpipe, too much pressure in the cooling system, overheating. I called BYOC and asked for an estimate "to repair the head gasket" on that model. Ali answered and did everything he could to get me to "bring it in". As I told him, I would be having it towed there, and needed to have an estimate for such a standard repair before I would go to all the hassle. He continued to try to get me to "just bring it in". I told him I needed an estimate first for such a standard repair. I did not want to go to the expense and trouble to take it in, only to be deterred by a high price. Finally I told him that without an estimate -- no repair there. He then said he'd figure it out. He took detailed information, seemed to be consulting standard figures - hours to repair, parts needed, etc. He then qouted $1350, but I had to first have a diagnostic from them at $150. Ok, I said - minor compared to the overall cost. So I had it towed in a week later when Ali told me they could do the work. Tow, drop-off all fine. Ali said he'd call after the diagnostic. A couple of hours later I get the call. I started to realize what I'm in for as Ali suggests all kinds of other things that "they deemed necessary", but had nothing to do with a head gasket repair. Flushing brake hydraulic system, replacing the air intake breather hose, etc. I told him no - I wanted to have the head gasket replaced - that's all. Then he goes into another list of "items". Well, we'll have to replace the radiator cap, change the oil, add coolant, replace the thermostat, surface the head, etc. Some of these things are indeed needed when you do a head gasket replacement, but that's part and parcel of doing a head gasket replacement and quite inexpensive. The need to surface the head can only be determined when the head is removed and measured for flatness. So they knew nothing new or in addition since they quoted $1350. So he recalculates their price after removing all the non-related items. $2650. More than double what he had quoted for the work they would now do. My guess is that he thought he had me in a place where I could not refuse paying twice what they quoted. He was wrong, my van and I left. They only got me for the $150 diagnostic fee. Excuse me, they got me for $160 - Ali claimed multiple times that I must have misheard him. He had quoted me the $150 price several times in our conversation. read more

I was here for issue with cooling on my 2008 CHRYSLER 300C SRT8. The guys diagnosed as bad radiator and also replaced my thermostat and reservoir cap. Turns out the thermostat I just had replaced was actually the wrong one so the guys replaced it with the right one and new radiator and cap. My car has never run as good. I think the previous technician just replaced the thermostat with what was in there to begin with without checking what my specific vehicle calls for good catch guys!!!! My vehicle uses a 180* not a 203* degree therm. So my car was running a lot Hott before opening up thermostat. Causing the radiator to be overworked I believe. As stated it's never ran as good.
