I stopped by here on recommendation to get a second opinion on a pricey component that the dealer claimed needed to be fixed asap. Given my vehicle's history and maintenance records, it seemed highly suspicious to me, so I opted for a second opinion. Owner lifted up my vehicle and checked on the issue for me, free of charge, and said there was no issue. I had a family member come by previously with a different vehicle many years ago for a similar situation and was also greeted with genuine and honest service. It did not seem like the folks running Abbott were in it just for a the money, but for a honest assessment of your vehicle. They are a very small shop, so I am not sure how complicated services would be handled, and there isn't much of a waiting area, so it looked like folks usually drop off their vehicle and come back. I was very appreciative of the complimentary second opinion, and trust that they would provide me an honest quote if something were amiss. read more

One of the worst place. 1. I went there at 8:50 and they opened at 9:00. No one showed up till 9:10 am. 2. I asked the person to check under the car as it was leaking oil and give me an estimate. The guy told me it will be $150 to diagnose. Most shops do it for free so they get the customer. 3. When the mechanics are not in the mind to do work, they talk to you rudely and say arbit prices. 4. Their treatment for asian vs non-asian customers is different and I can sense it very well. Not going to this place anymore. Technicians here, need to be trained on how to talk politely and talk about reasonable things. read more

This auto repair shop is located in Milpitas. It was a little hard to find. It seems that this shop is not well advertised but they seem to provide prompt service for good value. Especially if you need a quick oil change. However there are variations in customer service depending on who you are talking to. It seems that the shop is owned by two older gentlemen. One of them is soft spoken and polite. Other guy is rude and doesn't have good communication skills. Whenever he talks to customers it seems like he is trying to interrogate you. I was on my way to take a relative to an emergency dental appointment. My car seemed to be making a loud noise on the freeway so I exited and found this place to ask if they could check it out. They were gracious and checked the engine, put it up on the lift and tested for noise, then test drove the car on the freeway. Didn't find any issues with the car and yet did not charge me for their work. Very kind to help me and thorough explanation of what they checked. Very much would recommend them and if I lived in the area I would go to them for car service. read more

Short review since I only come here for my oil change. I really appreciate this shop because they do oil changes from 9am-12pm Monday-Saturday! So I can even come on Saturday since I work during the week. I've never had any issues coming here. My only suggestion I would make to others is that they should arrive at the shop at 9am or even a little earlier. There have been a couple of times when I would come a little later and there's a line of people either waiting for their oil change to be finished OR waiting for their turn for an oil change. The last time I was here was on a Saturday and I got to the shop around 9:30am and there was already 1 person waiting. Around 10am, more people started showing up to the shop. The pricing is pretty reasonable. It was cheaper a couple of years ago, but I understand that the price of everything has gone up due to all the shortages during the current pandemic, so that's reasonable. **UPDATE** April 2021 The pain continues 5 months later. My car broke down AGAIN. Engine was shaking / vibrating. Brought it into a mechanic and they tell me I had a very worn out / damaged Spark plug coil. In turn, all the new spark plugs were degraded (OR were they ever replaced??). How could these mechanics not notice the bad coil... PLUS, just noticed my meter boot assembly had been broken and someone (wonder who??) duct taped it back without telling me. If I could give 0 stars I would. If I had gone to literally any other auto shop from the very beginning for a major tune up, I would've saved myself SO much time and thousands of dollars. Not a fan of venting and spreading negativity, but just had to with this one. Too much money down the drain, and too many headaches. read more

I came here to get my water pump and timing belts replaced. I'm not much of a car guy so I wasn't sure what my car needed to be completely fixed but the guy at Abbott took care of me and explained to me in detail what parts needed to be replaced and the reason behind it. He gave me the best price compared to Pep Boys and other local mechanics. I was charged $650 for all the parts and labor which was the best price possible. Every other mechanic quoted me for at least $1,000. I highly recommend coming to this place for any auto repairs. It was quick and took less than a day. This was my first time visiting an auto shop and I had walked into the store with skepticism on a Saturday morning. I needed help with changing the oil. I brought my own oil and filter. I waited 15 minutes for my turn. They were extremely friendly and finished changing the oil within 15 minutes. The labor for changing the oil was $20, compared to $40 that other shops may charge for the labor. My experience was quick and easy. Bring your own oil and oil filter and you only have to pay $20 for labor and they will change your oil for you! Make sure to call ahead when you plan on bringing in your car to make sure they'll uphold this since they might only do this when it's slow in the shop. I believe it might be cash only for this service as well. Quick and easy. I dropped my car off around noon on a Friday and it was done about 30 minutes later! read more

What? I thought I reviewed this place a while back, but guess not. In any case, I was needing a front brake job after I got my 2006 Toyota Corolla (hand me down) from a post death relative in 2016. I got the pads and rotors replaced at my go to repair shop. They always did a top notch job, but this time, within 7000 miles (13 months later), not only did I need new pads, and rotors, but also new calipers because the brakes wore down so badly! I did the second brake job at a place within a mile of the loudest screeching brakes in Sunnyvale. It's a reputable place, but within 3000 miles, I had to go back to the Sunnyvale shop to have pads/rotors/calipers all replaced on the front brakes. Luckily, it was within the 6 months warranty and the work was done no charge. So, it's weird that I needed 3 brake jobs within 10K miles. Ever since the first time at the Sunnyvale place in late 2017, my steering wheel would shake when driving over 60 mph on freeway. Now, within 6000 miles, I finally arrived at Abbott Auto Service and the owner replaced the pads; also surfacing and turning rotors. He said come back after 3K miles for reinspection to make sure no problems. Well, it has been great with no problems after more than 2 years. And the dreaded steering wheel shake went away. Recently been back for oil/filter and transmission fluid change. This is a really fantastic place. My wife introduced me to this shop when she had her Honda Pilot and got oil/filter changes, water pump and belt replaced, alternator replaced, etc. Always great work...and above all, very honest people! read more

Good service, had a lot to check up on for my 30,000 mile tune up on my 2016 Honda Civic. Transparent on the cost estimate right off the bat which was helpful in gauging whether this would be a good place to get my car fixed up. I've found in the past their prices are competitive to a lot of other auto places, and don't try to sell you on a "free inspection" first where they hold on to your car before giving you a price for service. I came in on a Saturday morning which was pretty low key, in total service took about 2-3 hours for all the work. Mechanics were friendly, albeit a bit quiet but very easy to work with and knowledgeable about typical maintenance procedures as if they've done this many times over. I would definitely come back again just for the fact it wasn't a hassle or any unnecessary up charging which is common in the auto maintenance industry. Looked at yelp and found this place, went there around noon and they fixed it in less than 20 Minutes. Actual work they did was for less than 10 minutes. While the car was draining oil, the mechanic/owner looked over my car, identified some repairs that needed to be done, and filled up my tires. No pressure. No up sell. Just an honest mechanic. When I'm too lazy to do the routine oil change on my car, I can count on Abbott to get it done fast and at a low cost...almost the same price I'd spend buying the quarts of oil and filter when I do it. I just have to arrive when they open at 9 am to get that 'fast' service. They also perform a mini-inspection on my vehicle every time it's up on the rack. Saving money and saving time...totally worth it! I recently decided to get a major (preventive) service done on my car. I went with them for obvious reasons. Their mechanics are trustworthy and thorough. And the price was very reasonable...compared to other places. They have a coupon deal in the local newspaper, for major service on all cars which include transmission oil service. Unfortunately, the transmission oil for my car was at a higher cost, which made the coupon invalid. Regardless, I was still saving money for the major service, so it didn't bother me. Besides, they need to get paid for great service, right! The owner also let me know how much life I have on my tires, and gave suggestions on rotation. Best of Milpitas indeed! read more

Not happy at all! This place was recommended to me personally and they have a wall full of local newspaper awards. I called Thoi to get a quote for brakes change and synthetic oil change. He quoted me $57 for the oil change and $70-80 for the brakes. With tax we'll call it $147. They did the work, and I get the bill, and BAM $217. He charged me $70 more on the brakes (because the oil change was still $57) than he quoted me. That's basically DOUBLE! They even have an online special for $100 brake job, yet somehow mine were $150? I don't even drive that nice of a car. Pretty pissed!!! read more

Great place to go! Went here for an oil change for the first time this past Saturday and everything went well. Quick work, good price, and staff that know what they're doing. I got there around 10 am and I was 8th down the list for an oil change and I left by 11:30 am. If you want to be in and out quick I suggest going when they open at 9am and remember to sign your name in because they might be too busy working on cars to tell everyone who walks in. For their morning oil changes they try to get everyone in and out ASAP so it's fairly quick once it's your turn. They're very real with what needs to be done (if they find anything wrong when doing their inspection) and give estimates with your approval first before doing any work on the car itself.
