***HE NEVER REPLACED MY OXYGEN SENSORS*** I WILL TAKE THIS DOWN IF I GET MY REFUND BACK. EDITED 9/26/22 after I found a trustworthy honest mechanic I am livid. This mechanic only wiped the wires outside to make it look new. He even told me not to worry about oxygen sensors until I get a smog check. Hence the lights were still on. I even came back to ask why the light is still on and he kept saying I don't know a lot. And, I don't know much about cars, but even I knew that was a bad idea. I went to a different mechanic, and he replaced the parts in front of me, educated me and said there's no way this Manny guy ever replaced my o2 sensors. He SCAMMED ME. I am not sure if I can trust this mechanic anymore. I had my o2 sensor replaced (bank 1, sensor 3). The engine check light is still on, even though he warned me. He said it could be the wiring, or it could be something else. So he said he would order me the parts, but would not tell me what the name of the part or the code. He kept saying "I don't know". I questioned him, how do you know which part to order if you don't know the part number? He was about to charge me $$$ for something he doesn't know the part number for? read more

I called in and they were prompt with answering the phone and answering a question about my tire. They said they could see me the same day but I got caught up so I showed up the next morning and they saw me right away! Excellent customer service. I had a screw in my tire and thank God it didn't pierce all the way through. They checked my tire pressure and found it to be low. As a courtesy they put air in all of my tires because they were all low on air. The next time I need anything for any of my cars or if anyone of my family needs anything I will be coming here! I took my car here because it was within walking distance from where I work. Big mistake- my car of 4 years, no problems, and under 100,000 miles died on me shortly after they did a tune up. Now they say short of getting a new engine, there's nothing they can do. I towed my car to another mechanic down the street and they said it's odd that all that happened. When it needed an $800 brake job, Ray advised me to go with the "poor man's brake job" since I wasn't planning to keep the car forever. I never knew there was such a thing. I brought my van in to have an oil leaked checked. The mechanic what fixed he perceived was the main problem. He didn't fix the rest because he wasn't that sure if the leak was coming from that other spot. He also fixed a sensor problem for free. The end result was not only what the bill lower than initially quoted. But also, for doing some additional work at no charge. He only gets four stars for being unsure about if the oil leak was also coming from a different spot. In addition, he never returned my call. read more

I went in to have my headlight changed. Pep boys and firestone tried to over-charge me to replace my headlight claiming it was going to take them several hours to perform this simple task and it was going to cost me over a couple of hundred dollars for the labor plus the light. The proprietor of Bay fair auto, Mr. Mahoney, met with me personally, after I told Pep boys and firestone where to shove it, and he gave me a price to put in the headlight for a reasonable $35. Although he did not have the headlight in stock, because it's a new car, he ordered it and had it delivered to his place in less than 20 minutes. After he got the light, less than 10 minutes later he was handing me my keys, telling me that the job was done. This is a very scrupulous entrepreneur, a man after my own heart: honest, fast, and reliable. He offers you no excuses and most importantly no bullshit. read more

My daughter told me these guys are great, so i tried them. Mansour is the owner (I think) and wow!! Honest, competent, and with the customer's budget at heart! There are two (at leat) other mechanics there who are knowledgeable, willing to talk about repairs, and POLITE. (Thank you, Leck from Laos.) Great work, and Mansour WANTS to save the customer money. At each step of repair my beloved 1989 car needed, he checked with me, letting me know whether it was worth spending X for a "senior" car. The guy at the 76 Smog Test Only place on E 14th and 150th screamed that my car would never pass and was beyond repair, short of a total new transmission. I thankfully ignored him. Mansour fixed a few things, added new wires, recommended a new radiator as the system was old and filled with gunk. He also thought it might need a new thermostat, but when i went to get the car, he had decided to forego the thermostat as the car was running fine now. Now, SO many other mechanics would have just put one in, (adding t the charges) knowing I would never know the difference. As someone else wrote, these folks at Bay Fair Auto Repair don't take advantage just because you are a single woman whose knowledge of cars is limited to how to open the hood and unscrew the gas -refill cover! read more

Um, not so sure the repairs are warranted or that they really should cost that much. So took paperwork to the fine folks at Bayfair Auto and asked them to review what the dealership told us. Lo and behold, the repairs are not all warranted, yet or at all and Bayfair Auto will do the work for about $1100 less! Yahoo! And it didnt take them long to do the work. Update time! My car has been running fine now for 5 months. Except for one scare that was totally my fault!( never try to drive an old car from SF to LA in 100 degree weather) Everyone told me not to but I didnt listen because I am a stubborn brat. I frantically called the owner crying in the middle of BFE and my car had over heated . I pulled over in to what was supposed to be a mechanic's shop (turns out this guy was an idiot) and they spoke on the phone to one another. Long story short he once again took care of me in a time of need! You do not find people like him a lot anymore. I would recommend anyone to go here! Worst repair shop ever. Needed transfer case repaired on Kia Sorrento. We had to find a place to rebuild it ourselves, then took back to them to install. Once installed said oh needs new motor now too. Every time we think car will be finished they up the price and claim more issues. They had the car for 3 weeks and never did fix it. Listen up people of Charlotte. I am not from here and I was in need of automotive service for I was traveling home to California in a couple of days. My O/D light came on my car and Pep Boys could not assist me and told me I had to go to a transmission business like AAmco. I called around with the code given to me for the problem and all three AAmco's in the area gave me some ridiculous quotes telling me I needed a new transmission and it would take several days to do it. I contacted an independent company and was told similar info. I asked my telephone for the closest transmission repair shops to my area and it gave me Howard at Fair Repair. I telephoned Howard and liked his logic and possible thoughts about the repair. I immediately brought it to him and the part was ordered and I returned the next day and he solved/fixed my automotive problems. What I liked about Howard is that he is honest and fair. He didn't try to make me believe it was something more than it was and he showed and explained what needed to be done. I like Howard immediately especially when I called him for directions. Howard is a good honest guy for women. I sat in his waiting room for hours and was able to observed how he treated his employees and his customers. So my BMW shop broke down about half a mile away from this shop. I was able to get it towed there and quickly found out that the water pump failed and radiator hose blew out. They had my car fixed in one day and gave me a great price. I know they weren't trying to get over on me because I used to wrench back in the day and know what it took to do the job.
