Most definitely my go-to auto repair shop from now on. I've been here once and I liked the service I received. Today, I came in because of a flat tire. The mechanic said that I would need a new tire because the puncture was on the side, where the rubber curved, and the patch won't secure at that area. This made sense to me. So we went back inside the office where Jack, the owner, made some calls to find the cheapest tire replacement for me, per my request for cheap tire. After a minute, he gave me a quote of $137.40 out the door, one tire plus service. Good deal. Other shops I went to in the past wouldn't allow me to get one tire. It has to be a set of 2 at least. Some trick me into buying four (Sears). But Jack and his mechanics are honest and hard working. They don't need to rip people off or take advantage of us to keep their business running. This place is legit. Honest. And genuinely down to help you. And if you're a lady, tired of being intimidated and given the tough guy treatment (like what I often hear from lady friends), this is where you should go. I'm a guy. A small Asian, easy going, humble, and introverted guy. I don't act tough and mean and egotistic. I actually acted nervous, in fact. But they did not take advantage of me. They spoke to me with respect, unlike the typical mechanic who think they're macho and sh*t. This place treated me as an equal human being. When I called yesterday to request a quote for a transmission drain and refill service, the woman I spoke with was helpful and professional. However, when I called again this morning, I spoke with a male employee who seemed rushed and reluctant. Despite this, he told me to bring my vehicle in and stated he could complete the service around 3:00-3:30 PM. Based on that information, I dropped my car off before going to work. Upon arrival, the same employee informed me--without inspecting my vehicle--that a transmission drain and refill would not resolve my issue. He did not examine the car, run a diagnostic, or assess the condition in any way before making this determination. I found this concerning and unprofessional. My vehicle had recently begun shaking due to low fluids. I have not experienced any prior transmission issues, nor were any transmission problems identified during a recent inspection when I had new spark plugs installed. I requested a specific service (a transmission drain and refill), not a transmission diagnosis or replacement. As a customer, I expect that my vehicle would at least be assessed before being told definitively that a service would not help. Additionally, I was told to "look up online that all Nissans have transmission failures," which I found dismissive and inappropriate. If the shop was too busy to perform the service, that should have been communicated before I was asked to bring my vehicle in. I am disappointed that I was asked to bring my car in, only to be turned away without an evaluation. I believe a professional approach would have been to inspect the vehicle first and then provide an informed recommendation. I would appreciate clarification regarding why the service was declined without assessment after I was told to bring the vehicle in. This 76 Gass station is convenient. Just make sure if you ever got a flat to notify the front desk so there will be no issues. I caught a flat and pulled into the gas station. To change my tire and parked on the side of the dumpster Tuesday night went to go change the flat the next day, but they didn't have the size I needed for my spare tire so I have to wait one day. So I go up there Thursday morning and my car has been towed but I couldn't move it because I had a fight so I had to call the tow yard to see how much it was to get my car out. So it was a miscommunication and I have to talk to the owner to tell him what the problem was.. and due to the holidays he decided to help me out I would like to say thank you very much, Ali . i am completely disgusted by the "customer service" at this shop. even more so looking through the comments. its apparent to me after my own experience, as well as most of the one star reviews ive read, women should avoid this place at all costs. Ultimately, I asked a question, and he refused service on my car and proceeded to scream at me when I tried to leave. He was aggressive and scary. He followed me to my car in order to keep yelling at me. A 21 year old girl who was confused and asking a question. I came in to get an airflow sensor replaced. i had a check engine light that when ran a diagnostic on it, said that was what the problem was. since i had gotten it replaced a year and half ago, i guess that was reason enough to check everything else under the hood and charge me for it before checking what my car was saying was broken/not working. A quoted $579 job turned out to be a $700 job. I was told drive it around a bit and then come back to get the smog, and from my understanding the smog was already paid for. I come back in and I am informed I needed to now pay another $89 for a smog. I talked to Jack originally and then Jay got involved. he said he quoted $800 and THAT quote was including smog, but since we only paid $700 it hasnt been paid yet. having not received any info on an $800 quote, I asked when he had given out that quote, just trying to find out if it was before or after my original $579 quote. Jay got extremely agitated and told me thats it hes not going to smog my car. I said to him i was just trying find out when that quote was quoted because i got a completely different quote from the $800 he was talking about and the $700 that was paid. he asked what I was first quoted and i said in the 500s to which he lost his mind and started yelling at me that I was liar and this and that. I asked for my car key back so I could leave and take my business elsewhere. his father informed me it was in the car and i walked out while Jay was trying to pull up the original quote and still yelling at me. i got in my car and was trying to drive away when Jay stormed out at my car screaming at me still. they had left the window down when they parked it and i wasnt able to get the window up in time before he stuck his arm in the car with a sheet of paper that was NOT the original quote but a receipt. He yelled at me to do the math and $699 plus $88 equal $800 and then threw the paper at me as i started trying to reverse. after my experience and the other reviews it is completely insane how this man treats customers and turns to intimidation and aggression when dealing with women. this is a scary man so take this as a warning to stay away. after driving away and looking at the receipt, it does say my original quote was $579, so me saying my original quote was in the 500s was in fact NOT a lie, and this was just an unnecessary melt down over me trying to clear up confusion. i almost forgot, when my car was picked up the first time, a giant crack across the center of my windshield that was not there previously showed up read more

This place has been there for me and come through in a pinch on several occasions. Yesterday, I ran over something I needed to have my tire repaired. I rolled in at a little before eight needing to get my tire fixed to get to work on time. The receptionist was kind and professional, and got me set up immediately. Within minutes ,my car was jacked up and they were fixing my tire within no time. There have been other times where they have accommodated me quickly and taken care of my car getting it fixed right the first time. My roommate took her car here for a new alternator. They first told her it would cost $800 and when she said she'd call them back he changed his tone and said actually $600 which was weird already. After getting the work done she realized the oil in her car was completely empty which was weird because it wasn't when she took it in. She filled the oil and then as she was driving immediately realized that her car started making knocking noises. Something wasn't right and so she called them to check on their work. The son told her to come on in and they'd check it for free. Once she arrived they came out and started being dramatic about how something was wrong with the engine and they didn't wanna take time to check it for her even though they told her to come down because they had "other costumers they had to tend to". They are unprofessional and will take advantage of you if you don't know much about cars. They were the ones who messed up her car more and aren't even willing to fix it. I went in for a Brake and Lamp inspection as per Referal from Chabot Smog and to see Jack the owner. Upon arrival I asked for Jack and was rudely greeted by Jay who later I find is the son. Jay was extremely rude, he looked miserable and ask me "What do you want" and said you need to go the office. There was no hello or what can I help you with. I was shocked by his attitude and lack of professionalism. Another customer was in the office saw what happened and said he was treated poorly as well and said maybe Jay was having a bad day. Convenient to the freeway for fueling up with an attached repair shop. The large mega church coffee shop across the street, Cafe 4, makes for a convenient and comfortable "waiting room." Great fuel prices have been observed here for the past years. No price gouging despite how close it is to the freeway. I notice so often the closer to a freeway exit the higher the prices are - not here. I like getting fuel at a place where lots of people come. I figure fuel is fresher as the turnover of fuel is greater. Likely this isn't an issue but who knows. I never go to Arco as they don't accept credit cards but prefer Chevron as a usual spot. I believe this is labeled "top tier" although it doesn't have Techron. The attached fix it station is convenient to Cafe 4, McDonalds and Wendy's. All the above make for a great place to wait a few hours if you car is being worked on. read more

Finally I picked up my car paid the $1,100.00 bill went to another shop and asked for a smog check and it passed smog right away. I called them back to let them know WET RUGS were left in my trunk and now smell of mold is left there. Jay let me know I was welcome to come back to get the carpets redone but for future services he suggested I find another shop because my business was no longer welcome there due to the fact I don't have any trust for their work... so because their detailer put WET RUGS IN MY TRUNK I shouldn't come back? Jack the owner denies Jay every saying any of these things, because he was sitting right next to him, which is appalling because why would I lie about this? He even suggested it was MY FAULT the wet rugs were left there cause I didn't do a good enough job checking my car after it had been serviced by his guys. Went to get oil change and tires rotated here for the first time. No problems until the front desk lady had called me asking for my tire lock key (this is a new car i had never had any service on it) so I told her it's in the trunk. I go to pick up my car and I get home and double check they gave me the key back. As i search through the basket on my trunk I see that the key (which is in a black bag with honda label on it) is at the very bottom of the basket. This leads me to think that they did not rotate my tires which they charged me $40 for. If they had done it why would they put the bag at the very bottom of the basket? I call the shop and speak to the owner who became very defensive after I asked him the simple question of were my tires rotated. I explained why I thought they were not rotated and he raised his voice at me saying "WE DID NOT STEAL ANYTHING FROM YOUR CAR YOU COME DOWN HERE AND LOOK AT MY SHOP OF 40 YEARS" i said "i was not accusing you of stealing I just asked if they found the key to my tire locks and where they put them when they finished" he continued to yell at me telling me that it was my fault for not leaving then the key and says "THERES A SIGN IN OUR BUILDING TAHT SAYS TO LEAVE ALL THE KEYS WE NEED ITS NOT MY FAULT SHE DIDNT READ THAT"...at this point I was disgusted by his attitude and the extreme lack of any customer service skills. I had a frustrating smog situation. Two mechanics attempted to fix the problem and it turned out that they didn't. I went to Chabot Smog to get it looked at and they very helpfully told me to come here and ask for Jack or Jay because he knew they could do the necessary drive cycle and likely find a solution. Chabot Smog seems very honest and helpful, so shout out to them as well. Jay immediately set my frustrated mind at ease and told me that he'd find a solution. The next day, he found the solution. He carefully explained the situation (the thermostat needed replacing) and it actually made sense to me! He was careful not to badmouth the mechanic who replaced the necessary oxygen sensor (but did not diagnose & fix the issue). Jay is an all-around knowledgeable and personable mechanic. Usually you get one or the other. He's above and beyond. He's got my business as long as he stays in his and I drive a Toyota, so I'll have that minivan for 200k more miles! And I don't drive much. read more

They do good work but they are a bit overpriced. At the time they charged me a $100 diagnostic fee (they are up front about it) but it was just frustrating because I have an Automatic attached to my car that told me the code ahead of time so it felt like I was getting charged the $100 fee for exactly what I told them it would be. This is NOT deducted from your charge if you choose to do the repair there. Overall I would have paid much less elsewhere but the customer service was good and the time for repair was not bad as well, they are just a bit on the expensive side. read more

Took my mother's car here today to be fixed and fluids to be changed in spark plugs. when I dropped the car off the hood was not damaged when I went back to pick up the car they told me to go to the side and pick the car up .so I took the car back to the house and all of a sudden I get out and look at the hood and sure enough there's two big dent marks and scratches all the way across the driver side like something was drug along the hood I then proceeded to call back and the son Jay answered the phone. Only to say that I thought they were very polite people he tells me to bring the car back down because he cannot check it over the phone I then go back down there and I have my brother on the phone with me I show the father what happened and all of a sudden the son Jay comes running out from nowhere and starts yelling at the top of his lungs and becomes this crazy man and says that I'm lying and that the car had to be like that already that nobody did anything to it I then said I'm not lying to you I'm trying to tell you the truth that this was not like that there was nothing wrong with this Hood he then got more crazy and starts yelling some more and then tells me to get my car off the property that they did not do nothing wrong to it I will have to say they are such bad businessmen bad business owners he had no right to come at me like that and start yelling and on top of that my mother's car was not messed up before I brought it there so they are liars I am a Godly person and I would not lie about something like that so I have to say they are bad business people completely and I will figure out how I need to get my mother's car fixed because that was not there before I brought it to their company read more

This is the only place within the area that was able to find the problem & fix my 87 Monte Carlo. Dropped it off on Monday and it was done on Saturday, repaired and smogged. Also towed in my son's 95' BMW to find out the problem and it was the rear end differential. That was towed in on Monday, paid for the used rear end on Tuesday and it was done on Thursday. WoW ! ! Jack the owner and Jay are very helpful. I even spoke to the mechanic Paul who actually worked on my Chevy and he told me what the minor problem was. I like to talk to the mechanics because they actually do the work on your vehicle and can give you a heads up on forthcoming issues or something that may be problematic. My old beater of a car's air conditioning didn't work since the car was passed down to me. I brought it here to have the Air Conditioner checked out. My car is so old that finding a mechanic or auto repair shop with the right freon that's compatible, is nearly impossible. I was referred to this repair station by a friend of one of my brother's whose been helping out my family for years. After successfully making contact with Jack and was scheduling an appointment for that very same week, it was a good feeling! Same week service, ha ha! In my conversation with Jack, he explained what his crew would be doing to my car and how long it would take. He needed about an hour to charge and test it. When I arrived right on time for my rescheduled appointment, Jack was at the front desk. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't look at someone's shirt when asking for a person, I look at the persons' face. But when I walked in, I asked for Jack and he pointed to his embroidered name on his shirt and said something snarky, but funny snarky, it made me giggle. He was spot on with the time it took for his crew to charge the A/C, during the time they worked on my car, they had found another issue with the vents on the interior part of my car. At first, it was going to cost $100 for them to find out why only the drivers' side vent was blowing out air, but when I arrived one of his crew member's had fixed it! Yay! It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't, at least it was the drivers' side vent that was working. Ha! Anyhow, I would return to have Jack and his team work on my car. All the estimates Jack gave me were near to exact, from the time it would take to work on my vehicle, to the total costs. Jack was helpful, he was really direct (which I appreciate), he has a "sense of humor" and he was knowledgeable. This was my first time taking my car to this repair station for any sort of work. The dealer had given me a litany of items that were wrong with it and the astronomical amount that it would take to repair it. I checked out this place and I found them very upfront with the pricing. They were able to see all the same items that needed repairs as the dealer had mentioned but for a fraction of the cost. Jay constantly kept me updated on the status of the repairs and if he found out anything that was not in the estimate he would call me right away. On a couple of occasions, he went as far as doing research to see if any of the items were covered by Toyota for things that were expired. The quality of work was exceptional, I think I will be taking my cars from now on to this repair shop because they displayed excellent professionalism, high quality of work and exceptional customer service, at least for me. We had an issue with our car while driving up from Southern California. We ended up getting towed to this shop because it was the only shop open on Saturday. The guys inspected our vehicle and did some research to find that the issue on our car actually was covered by an extended warranty that we were not aware of. The owners even commented that they would have make $4000 on the repair but had the integrity to help us out and get our repair done for free.
