Came here for lunch and arrived right at 11 when opening. Everything was so fresh! I was slightly shocked there wasn't plain cheese but maybe it wasn't ready yet since we arrived so early. Lunch prices are great. You can buy by the slice. $3 for "basic" type slices. $2.50 for salads. Unfortunately they no longer offer the garlic cheese bread for lunch that they did a few years ago but you can still order from the regular menu! Service was quick. Efficient. Empty but got busier around 12:30. You're given trays and can leave on table once done. Place was clean & Workers were friendly.
We love this location as much as Broadripple and Carmel. All very consistent with great service and food. We enjoyed a tomato mozzarella salad and Greek salad before the pizza. Our server was a little overwhelmed at the time so we didn't get our salads until just before the pizza but it was still delish. The Mass Ave location has a great patio and lots of dining areas. Always comfortable no matter the party size.
We come here every year and get the party room during a large convention in town. The service and food are always amazing. All the different pizzas are delicious and the bar has a good selection of drinks. They really go above and beyond to make our group feel special. We will definitely keep coming back.
I have to laugh that my first review for this location of Bazbeaux, an Indy pizza icon since 1986, was actually my 300th Yelp review. Now, I'm over 1800 reviews and Yelp has become a huge part of my life. I was attending a nearby event related to Indy Shorts Film Festival and decided I wanted to visit Mass Avenue a bit once the event was over. This was early afternoon. After looking around a bit, I opted for a long-awaited return to Bazbeaux. Of course, a lot has changed in this area in the last few years. Parking prices are up (way up), though it's pretty plentiful with nearby street parking (metered) and parking along Mass Avenue. You also have a couple nearby parking garage options. Finding an accessible spot is fairly easy - curb cuts remain solid in this area and there continue to be some (but not all) crosswalks with audio. As was true nine years ago, accessibility on Mass Avenue can be challenging. That said, I think it has improved. I entered Bazbeaux and immediately noticed some improvement right away. There are two sides - a dining side, a bar side (with tables), and an aisle you can use for carry-out. The interior is warm, calming, and surprisingly intimate. The bar area is a bit louder, it's a bar area after all, but it's still pretty quiet. Service here remains strong. The hostess offered the bar area or a booth. Tables are not all wheelchair friendly, however, there are quite a few accessible options. My server, Samuel, was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. He paced my meal nicely - I ordered garlic bread, my usual unsweetened iced tea (I think they still serve Mighty Leaf - an unusual choice that I love). I ordered a small (10") pizza with one-topping (pepperoni). I lingered a little bit, though not excessively so like my last visit. This time around, I was alone and my meal time was more traditional. The prices were definitely higher than last time, however, what price isn't higher than nine years ago? They were on park with the market these days and I had no issues with it - I think my meal came in at about $19 for the pizza, garlic bread, and iced tea (and I did get my always desired refill). Bazbeaux is unique in that every location (Mass Ave, Broad Ripple, Carmel) is located along the Monon Trail. They all have outside dining options, as well. They serve beer and wine, sandwiches, pizza, and more. One thing I have to say - accessibility is improved. I was noticeably bothered by it the last time I was here. This time around, I was comfortable and could easily function (I did not try the bathroom). While I could still see it being a bit difficult when packed, I arrived at an ideal time and was quite comfortable. The food was good, the service was very good, the prices were fair, and the atmosphere was nice and peaceful after a busy morning event. It really hit the spot. So, yeah. Last time around, I gave Bazbeaux a 3-star review. This time, I'm forking over that 4th star.
they called this open faced pizza sandwich a stromboli. ordered not knowing it wouldn't even fit the definition of a stromboli and got no warning that it wasn't a typical version. didn't even finish one piece. only not one star because my partner liked his pizza
Always hits the spot when I'm in Indy! Pro tip: Wednesday night is half off bottles of wine, which is a bonus. Bartender is always patient with my adaptations to the Garden pizza. Also lets me sample the beer on draft to choose one I like best.
Stopped in for a quick lunch on our way home to West Virginia from seeing the BINI Concert in Illinois. We ordered a half pepperoni, half veggie pizza, and both sides delivered. The pepperoni was crispy and flavorful, and the veggie side (spinach, green pepper, black olive, artichoke hearts, and tomato) was loaded with fresh toppings and not at all soggy -- just the way a veggie pizza should be. The Greek salad came with mixed greens, red onion, kalamata olives, tomato, and crumbled feta, all tied together with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette. Super fresh and a great way to balance out the pizza indulgence. And the real surprise? Blake's Mango Cider. Notes of mango, peach, and pineapple came through with every sip -- light, fruity, and dangerously easy to drink. It was so good I had to go back for a second glass. If you're looking for good pizza, crisp salad, and a refreshing drink to go with it, this place nails it.
Not pictured is the fresh mozzarella plate that we got as our pre meal. Came with wayyy too much olive oil. Felt very wasteful. The mozzarella was good but the bread was hard to tear apart and the tomatoes were flavored a little too sweet. The garlic bread dipped in ranch was very good. For pizza, we got a 12" and split it between two specialty pizzas. We mixed between the Bazbeaux and the Mexican. We liked the Bazbeaux more. The Mexican did not have nearly as much flavor as we thought it would. This has a very relaxed vibe, almost like an upscale Pizza Hut. Lots of different flavors of pizza options.
There are so many options to choose from here. They have inside and patio seating. The service was a bit slow on the patio with it getting later in the evening. It took a bit to place the order. However, once my parties order was placed the food was amazing! I tried the cider local to Indianapolis and it was also 10 out of 10. Clean bathrooms and would return again!
Great pizza place on Mass Ave. The server was very friendly. The restaurant has such a cool vibe. Perfect for this area of town. The prices were great for pizza of this quality. The pizza was amazing. By far, one of our favorite!! Crispy crust, flavorful sauce and the toppings were plentiful and really good. We started with the garlic cheese bread with marinara dipping sauce. Crispy crust and super soft with excellent cheese topping with a great cheese pull.
I was in the area for business and actually headed somewhere else for lunch when I walked past Baxbeaux and I smelled the amazing smell of pizza being baked, so I went in. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went in, but I did read previous reviews that were very positive. Upon going in, I saw it was a walk-up counter where you can order a slice or whole pie, drink, sides, etc. They had several pizzas made they were pulling slices from, but they weren't re-heating them, just plating and providing. I opted for a slice of pepperoni with jalapeño and a drink. The pizza looked great, but the crust was cardboard hard and just as bland. The toppings tasted OK, but wasn't great. The temperature of the pizza slice was cool too. Very disappointing considering how popular this place seems to be. Maybe a fresh pizza pie would be better, but based on the taste and texture of this crust, I highly doubt it. Sorry, but I don't get the popularity of this place.
Bazbeaux pizza was some pretty dang good pizza. Quattro Formaggio with hot honey and it was really delicious. Pretty good beer selection also. Our server was awesome. I didn't catch his name but he was really great. The restaurant reminds me of an old hole in the wall pizza spot. Really great and must have!
I hadn't been here since middle school and my hubby had never been here so we were downtown and decided to stop in. It was in between lunch and dinner so that was a perfect time to visit as they were busy so everything came out super fast and were top notch as was the service. It was very quiet and nice to have a good conversation. We didn't realize they have a beer and wine menu so we will keep that in mind for next time. The menu wasn't overwhelming it's simple and full of a variety of different pizzas and toppings. We started with the cheesy garlic bread and wow the tomato sauce that we opted to dip it in was amazing. Chunky, flavorful, and complimented the cheesy garlic goodness of the soft airy bread. Highly recommend giving this a try as a starter. The thing I love the most if you can pick 2 different pizzas and do a half and half so you get the best of both worlds so to speak. The crust was perfectly cooked and thin so you get the perfect balance of crust and toppings. It's not a heavy greasy pizza which is also a huge plus for me. We chose the Pizza Alla Quattro Formaggio and the Bayou chicken. The Alla wasn't your traditional Quattro formaggio but the chunks of ricotta was the best part. I do wish it had less mushrooms as I'm not a fan of them. But overall it was very cheesy and not heavy. Bayou chicken- the chicken had a great flavor and the toppings were cooked well and balanced and I loved the garlic cloves on it. Overall wonderful experience and would definitely recommend stopping in here.

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend around 8pm. We were told a 45 minute wait (totally fine by us) and 15 minutes later, we got a phone call saying the table was ready. Our waiter was very nice and attentive/patient with us as it took us some time to figure out our drink and food order. We got the colossus 16" pizza and really enjoyed it. I like a softer crust around the edges typically, but that's a personal preference and doesn't take away from how good it was! read more

One of the best pizza places in Indy. With historic charm and AMAZING pizza, you can't go wrong. I have visited Bazbeaux many times and always get the Pizza Alla Quattro Formaggio (without mushrooms). Lots of cheese but the crust is very crisp and can handle it. Parking is a bit difficult but as is anywhere on Mass Ave. Bazbeaux has a back entrance which gives way to more parking options. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio in late May. Overall, a great place to go when looking for a "sit-down" pizza option. read more

Ordered a medium pepperoni pizza for delivery and this is what I got. Called spoke to the manager Max. Kindly explained that we got a botched pizza. He proceeded to tell me that someone may have not checked the pizza before it left. He did offer a credit but I told him that we don't live here and I would like a refund because there are several pieces we can't eat. He got silent and eventually said "Done". It was very dry and I could tell he was pissed. I mean the pizza was sticking to the box. The crust was falling apart like Craker's and it was not good. read more

I know it's crazy...but I don't LOVE pizza. That being said; though, I love Bazbeaux pizza! I'm not sure what it is but this place is just amazing. I went for the margarita pizza and the mozzarella plate. Everything tastes so fresh and SO good. They also have a lot of different beer and wine to choose from (which I would have taken advantage of if I wasn't on my lunch break). The location right on Mass Ave is perfect. Surprisingly I have never had to wait a very long time for a table here either. The service is always great and fast. P.S. go here for lunch and you get can pizza by the slice! read more

The best pizza in Indy. This was the first local restaurant I went to when I moved to Indy. Quite honestly, it was the smell that brought me in from the street. I can't rave about it enough. Fresh ingredients, great sauce on the pizza, and reasonable enough prices. Also notable is their beer selection. Next time you're in the mood for pizza, Bazbeaux is the place to go. read more

After, walking in the hot & humid Sun Saturday afternoon June 20th, 2020 I needed to get some food, and cold drink in my system. I decided to go to Bazbeaux on Mass Ave right across the street from The Eagle. You can't dine in the restaurant just yet, but we could dine outside in the shaded area. I had wanted to order two slices of cheese pizza, but I was informed by my server that at the moment they can't offer slices of pizza just yet only small individual box of pizza(10"). The small individual pizza boxes comes with seven slices of pizza. I ordered the small individual cheese pizza along with Coke to drink. When, my order arrived it was so hot, fresh, very cheesy, a tad bit of too much tomato sauce for me, but other than that the pizza was good. For, it to be a small pizza nice size slices of pizza, and I ate all seven slices of pizza at the restaurant. Staff wore their masks, there was hand sanitizer around, when going inside for the restrooms there were plenty of signs on the floor as well as on the wall letting you know where the men's restroom & women's restroom are located. Also, the price wasn't bad small individual pizza(10") that comes with seven slices cost $7.50 read more

We were in town for a game and enjoyed the pizza from this place. There were a LOT of toppings and sufficient cheese and sauce. We ordered a medium COLOSSUS for pick up which had 8 slices. My husband and I finished the whole thing. read more

A quick, quiet, and yummy pizzeria. We had a great experience at BazbeauxPizza. The staff was very kind and relaxed with all of the orders coming in. The pizza was delicious. I mean, overall, you're looking for a pizza place, you have one! I got two slices, one cheese and one barbecue accompanied by garlic bread. Definitely a winner! No complaints except that I was put into a food coma after leaving. Thank you BazbeauxPizza for a fantastic experience. read more

This is my 1st time visiting and let me say it was top notch. he pizza was awesome, the breadsticks were delicious and the staff was also very friendly. I highly recommend if you're on mass Ave! I did not care for was the parking but Hey it is downtown and you're lucky to find a great spot anywhere! read more

Deeeeelicious! Our pizza had mushroom, pineapple, roasted red pepper, ham, and goat cheese. Absolutely delicious. We also got the cheesy garlic bread which was not very flavorful. Still totally delicious. There is a reason it was named among the best pizza of all time by Midwest Living magazine. read more

A great late-night pizza spot. We stopped in for a pie around 9pm-ish on a Saturday night and had no wait. It was excellent! Also pro: got a parking space right up front and there is my metered parking after a certain time in Indy so late-night dinners are great for us! I'm a fan, but I'm also used to Chicago pizza so I'm biased. It's def not Chicago style, although they have a ton of options to choose from and the service was fast and friendly. They allowed us to order 1/2 and 1/2 specialty kinds on the 16" pizzas so we took advantage of that. As a bonus, leftovers! Our favorite was the Cajun chicken pizza, it was creamy and in my opinion that makes the pizza! read more

I had the good fortune of eating here not once on a recent trip to Indianapolis, but twice--on the same day! The Friday lunch flow was great; not too crowded, fast paced. Loved the simple interiors, the sidewalk cafe and the terrific pizza which is about as close to New York style as you're going to find in Indy. The serve yourself, no-fuss attitude was great...that is, until I went there for dinner. I've seen other restaurants do this same thing: be a "nice" fast-food place during the daytime, then switch to waiter service at night. I went in expecting the same laid-back vibe but didn't know it turns into Chez Bazbeaux complete with a wait-until-seated sign. I went there the second time thinking I'd order a couple slices and read a newspaper but ended up ordering a pizza to go and driving back to the hotel. They have a terrific selection of pizzas, and I took back a "Neptune"--crab, shrimp, pea pods to my room at the Sheraton. What I had hoped would be a culinary delight turned out wrong. Crab meat does NOT belong on a pizza. Just when you're waiting for something zesty or flavorful to enlighten the "Neptune", the cooked crab produces the texture of a moist sock. Don't do it. Be forewarned. When I go back, I want to try the Chilope or the Tchoupitoulas. read more

My go-to place for pizza in Indy. I'm not a huge fan of pizza, but when I want it (thin crust, anyway), I want it from Bazbeaux. I usually go for the oh, so meaty (and veggie-filled) Colossus with extra cheese and the garlic bread with cheese and pesto (don't get this to go... it needs to be eaten right away instead of being closed up in a plastic container. Ick.) I may be getting a bit bored with my selection because I wasn't crazy about it this week. Based on some of the other reviews, I think I should try to fall in love with something new next time. I can't knock off any stars because they're consistent and I've never had a bad meal from them. The only thing that stinks is the parking on Mass Ave., especially in the evenings. If you're getting takeout, it's best to take someone with, if you can, so that one can run in while the other circles the block. read more

Bazbeaux is a staple in Indy and a great place for a yummy, filling lunch. All 3 locations (downtown, Broad Ripple and Carmel) have outdoor seating which is nice to enjoy the warmer weather. My favorite pies are the Roma, Colossus and Mediterranean. I love the thin crust and every inch is filling with toppings. Highly recommend! read more

Reliable, professional, friendly staff every time I've been here. Visited Bazbeaux during Devour - an incredible deal! Two topping 12" pizza with two salads and garlic bread. My party of 4 added on two very delicious desserts and our bills were under $20. Must visit! read more
I'm a pizza girl, I could eat pizza every day and be so completely happy. In fact, I could probably eat BazbeauxPizza pizza everyday. I have finally had the best pizza Indianapolis has to offer! Let me begin by setting the atmosphere; walking in it's cozy and casual with classic dark woods and dim (but once romantic?) lighting. Classic pizza place. We were quickly seated in a cozy booth in the main dining room by a friendly hostess. Our server appeared with ice waters and an up-to-date beer list. I was impressed by the wide selection of both local and far away brews, all reasonably priced. We put in an order for the award winning garlic bread, with cheese of course! It was very cheap, like $3.50, covered in cheese and crisp to perfection! A great starter. The menu had soooo many delicious sounding items and it's usually difficult for my boyfriend and I to compromise on one (I had already looked into half and half option)... BUT we were pleasantly surprised to find the perfect combination for us, The Mediterranean. The toppings were unbelievably tasty and fresh, unlike any pizza before! I was zesty, with just enough spice from roasted red peppers, pepperoni, and chorizo and fresh basil and creamy feta. I can't express how good the pepperoni and chorizo is, you'll just have to try it yourself. Oh and one of our favorite things about BazbeauxPizza, the prices! We had 3 beers, the garlic bread app, and a 10" speciality pizza all under $30 and very well worth it! I can't wait for my next slice of BazbeauxPizza pie! read more

A "must go" place to eat in downtown Indy. Excellent pizza, especially the Mediterranean.... primo chorizo and the best crust around. Lunchtime crowd is light but after work is very busy. Nice ambiance with sidewalk dining when warmer outside. Friendly, upbeat customer service. Oh... and they have my favorite bier in der vorld...Paulaner Hefe-Weizen. Ze gute!! read more

If you're ever visiting Indy, you must check out BazbeauxPizza! It's definitely a place I'd consider a staple of our city in the pizza department. First time checking it out for lunch and it was the perfect amount of food for a great price. Seat yourself, booths are the best! Afterwards take a walk on mass ave and stop by some of the awesome local shops along the way! read more

Pizza was cooked to perfect with excellent amount of topping and copious amounts of cheese. The staff was friendly and we got our food very fast. Ambiance was perfect for what their vibe was and really made the whole experience feel like we stepped into a Chicago pizza parlor. read more
