We drive 30 minutes just to get their pizza and take it home!!! We live on the north side of Indy. EXCELLENT PIZZA!!

It is shaped like a house. "Ordinary" noticably written on a big sign. Limited parking for both pizza and ice cream businesses. Outdoor covered patio with large connect 4 game. Pizza restaurant separated by bar vs. regular sit down. I sat myself in a booth by a TV which I asked to watch the NHL Stanley Cup playoff, instead of the NFL draft. Restrooms were like outhouses - very small but nicer. Watch your up and down steps. Sink shared between restroom stalls. I decided to try this restaurant because a Yelper kept raving about it at the event before and I needed a meal and wanting something around SE Indy. Yet another Yelper did not return again after trying the food. Restaurant is near my event. Here is my review. 3-4 stars. I will give it 4 stars for the service. I ordered a 10" customized pizza of cheese, chicken, and mushroom for $16.99 without tax. I did not care for the thick, cookie like crust. Cost was too much to try it. Good, but not great. I'm not in on the narrative of this is the best pizza in the Indianapolis area. It is good though. I got a meat lovers pizza and it is the heaviest pizza I've ever had! :) Lots of toppings and cheese. Two slices of a large meat lovers pizza is a huge meal! I've never said this before, but I think they went a little heavy on the meat....it kind of threw off the meat to cheese ratio. The crust isn't great. It took 25 minutes to make the pizza. Ordinary was hopping on a Sunday night in the bar area. The staff was terrific; they were very kind. Not that it matters, but this is the best looking restaurant staff that I've seen in a long time! We came on a sunny day and sat outside on the patio. They have corn hole boards and a small fire pit outside. They do not have draft beers. All of their beers are in cans or bottles. They have a large variety of craft beers available! We started with a half order of the breadsticks with cheese, which was the perfect app. We got a large veggie pizza and added sausage. Stopped in for the second time in around a month. Still love the service and staff is great. This last visit had some "challenges" though. We sat in the bar area and there was a group that was bordering on over served. I'm all good with having fun but they were dropping way too many Loud F-Bombs for even me. Pepperoni pizza was very good, the Meat pizza this time was a little doughy still. I love the amount of toppings, part of why we come here, but they walk a fine line of getting everything good and hot and not burning the cheese. Been a bit of a miss the last 2 times. We have done the dry rub wings, lemon pepper and cajun, the last 2 times and they are MONEY!! We will be back but they need to dial it back in. read more

We love the food at Ordinary! Haven't had anything we didn't like. Service is usually top notch, even when busy. One of our favorites is the meat lovers pizza-one slice fills you up! Last night (3/13/26) I ordered a tenderloin and onion rings, my friend ordered a Strombol, by the time I got my order she was finished. Tenderloin didn't even cover the bun and onion rings were cold and tasted like last weeks. I was told when my plate was put down infront of me I didn't have to pay. This place is legendary and talked about all around Indy. So one cold Saturday the wife and I made the trek to Wanamaker to check it out. They have a great beer selection, no draft, but they serve every beer with an ice cold mug. They also have a full bar. The pizza, it is loaded, and I mean loaded with toppings, and covered with cheese. The crust was just ok, just a transport for the toppings. The service was good. Every single time I've had this pizza it has never disappointed you can't go there and to be like all they were having a bad day so it wasn't that great. I have never had a bad pizza from here. Seems like I've always have a solid experience when I come...and tonight was no different (first time dropping a review after being on Yelp though) This place always drops some fire (insert fire emoji) My wife and I went on a busy Saturday night. We were quoted 45 minutes for a table...and got a text 2 minutes after checking in that we could be seated. The waitress came and got our drink and food orders quick- there was a mishap with my wife's drink but the waitress quickly corrected it. We hadn't ate all day, so our stomachs were bigger than our appetite. We split a half order of breadsticks, cheese fries, a 12in pizza, and I had a side salad. Breadsticks: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Cheese was a little spicy but delicious. Cheese Fries: can't go wrong here. Plenty of seasoning on the fries, lots of cheese and bacon- could have done with some more ranch but that's my problem for not asking for more Pizza: if you are a fan of crumbly sausage, this is the place to go. Some of the best pizza around. Nuf said. Side salad: I couldn't believe my eyes when it came out- it was huge for the price. I ordered Italian with it, but honestly unsure if that was what came out. Whatever it was, it was delicious. A+ service as well: after we left, we forgot our leftovers, and the waitress ran out the restaurant and gave them to us. I grew up eating here regularly, and let me tell you Ordinary does not miss. Every single time I've eaten here (mostly takeout) has been delicious. This time we dined in on a busy evening. We were promptly seated. The waitress greeted us timely. We had the breadsticks and loaded fries for an appetizer. Both were great. I love the cheese that comes with the breadsticks. FOLLOWUP ON MY REVIEW It's been a few days since my initial review, and I just wanted to add a few afterthoughts to my experience with the large Meatlovers from New Bethel Ordinary. I have had 1 piece each day since. There are 8 triangle slices on the pizza and each one has been enough to satisfy a decent appetite. I heated the slices with an infrared toaster oven, which heats from the inside out. The pizza was $29, including tax. That comes to about $3.63 per slice. If you think about it, that's not particularly cheap. But I must say, each re-heated pie slice has been very good. I have added a couple of pics to show what the leftover slices look like. I wouldn't get this pizza too often, but it really hits the spot once in a while. read more

Second time trying this pizza and have enjoyed it both times. The pizza is chock full of toppings with just the right amount of sauce. So if you like heavy sauce then this may not be the pizza for you. This most recent visit, service was fast and our pizza was ready quicker than the estimated time. Although, it was crowded, our pizza was ready in about 15 minutes and we were initially given a 25 minute wait time. I look forward to trying different items on the menu. read more

This place has been a local hotspot for many years. I haven't been here in a few years and thought we would get it tonight. We just ordered a pizza tonight they were busy which is always a good sign for a local place. The girl at the counter was very friendly and asked how my day was. It was very nice. The atmosphere is the same as it has always been. Local, rustic bar. Really comfortable. And the pizza was great! We got pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. I have visited New Bethel Ordinary a couple times for dinner and each time it was delicious. Recently I ordered a 16" pizza and wings #9. The wings were amazing, #9 is a dry rub that has 9 different seasonings, it is SO delicious! I can't wait to come back and order their wings again. I ordered the meat lovers pizza and it was full of toppings. I do wish the pizzas crust was a little softer, but it was still good! The servers are always so kind, especially to my kids, and they are attentive to our needs at the table. I will definitely be back soon! read more

This is an outstanding place to visit. Our crowd of 16 showed up on SAT night to celebrate-we had appetizers, sandwiches, pizza, drinks and a TON OF FUN. The Pizza meets and exceeds the expectations-we will all attest that the Pizza alone was worth the trip! But, don't sleep on the Wings...dynamite, that's the post. Sandwiches all got rave reviews and the Cole Slaw is apparently, take home good! Service was really great...our server was pretty much nonplussed by the bus load of folks seated in her section and made us all feel very well come. Our family hadn't been here since the 1980s and decided to stop by for pizza and a beer. Let's just say, we were heavily disappointed. From what I've since learned, they've went through 2 or 3 owners since opening in 1984. The bar and dining area are cute and the place was clean as a whistle. We sat in the bar and the server, instead of presenting me a beer list, told me to go into the kitchen area and just pick a beer from the fridge. They do not have any beer on tap. Suffice to say, that was pretty silly, given that I was in every employee's way and had no clue what I was looking for...I haven't lived in the area in a decade and only knew Sun King. I asked for advice and the server told me most of the beers were IPAs and I said I don't like IPAs. I settled on a Terre Haute Brewing Company cream ale which was ok. The server was grumpy. I think she was overwhelmed or perhaps just having a bad day. She gave us menus and got us waters and proceeded to take other customer's orders despite us being ready for about 5-6 minutes and waiting (an eternity in restaurants) and being the first people in her area. Eventually, we flagged her down and got our order in - fried ravioli and a small cheese pizza. The fried ravioli were brought out by a very nice young staff member. However, the ravioli were clearly pre-frozen, probably from the food distribution service the Ordinary sources from. They were fine, with cold (?) tomato sauce on the side that tasted like it was from a can. For me, a classic cheese and tomato sauce pizza is the true test of a pizzeria's quality. This was disgusting. The pizza did not taste like any love was put into it. I was born and raised in Indiana and I know Hoosiers love their cheese. We should have ordered a tomato sauce pie with light cheese. It came out with tons of cheese smothered all over it, a tiny bit of sauce, and on the worst pre-made, frozen pizza crust. The crust was clearly pre-made/frozen/not made in house: you could see the little dots that line the bottom of frozen/pre-made pizza crust on the bottom and it tasted like cardboard. I thought I was eating the cheapest pizza in the frozen food department. No servers ever checked on us to make sure we were OK. We had to flag down a third server, not even working our section, to ring us up. We left and never will go back unless something changes drastically. read more

I've wanted to visit New Bethel Ordinary for quite some time. I've always managed to convince myself it's too far of a drive. Located in the heart of downtown Wanamaker, New Bethel Ordinary is only a few minutes outside the Indy city limits heading Southeast. It's an easy drive and worth it. "The Ordinary," as it is most often called, has a wonderfully retro vibe and feels as if it belongs in the heart of a small downtown area (That's a compliment). While you can easily feel like an outsider with some small-town diners, there's a quick sense of welcome here in The Ordinary. Wanamaker is part of Indy and the school district is Franklin Township. It was annexed in 1970. The Ordinary is most known for its pizzas. I seriously contemplated pizza but having had a large meal yesterday I decided ordering an entire pizza while dining alone was out of the question. So, I took the opportunity to check out the hand-breaded tenderloin. You get two sides with it - I choose fries and cole slaw. Of course, I ordered my usual unsweetened iced tea. I resisted the urge to get a beer. The Ordinary is right on Southeastern. This is the downtown Main Street for Wanamaker. Downtown is a bit of a stretch, but it's the business area for this unincorporated town first settled Reuben and Mary Adams in 1825. A year later, Reuben died and left Mary as a single mother of 11 in what was then Indiana wilderness. In 1834, it was Mary who arranged for the laying out of the town. Originally, Wanamaker was known as New Bethel and you'll see Bethel on quite a few things within the town's boundaries. It is now named after John Wanamaker, the U.S. Postmaster General when New Bethel got its first post office. Okay, back to The Ordinary. This is a free-standing building. It's a decent size and they also have a nice patio off to the side. There's also a deck in the back that has 2-3 tables. Today, everyone was inside but I'm sure that would change by day's end. If you're in a wheelchair like me, you'll want to use the front entrance. The back entrance has a step going into it. The front is level to the ground. There's a couple parking spots directly in front and a parking lot in the back. However, the parking lot isn't the greatest for wheelchairs as it's semi-crushed gravel. I was able to maneuver it fine, but it was a bit of a hassle. Going in, a customer helped me with the door. Going out, a server grabbed the door. As you enter, you're immediately in the dining room. It's a combo of wood booths, tables, and 1/2 booths. There are widescreen televisions. The place just feels relaxing. It seemed very family friendly and it seemed like most of the servers were high school students and/or younger servers. The vibe is very friendly, and the servers seemed to enjoy working there. It was relaxed but professional. My server, Jaida, was spot-on. She was friendly, attentive, helpful, and personable. I got an iced tea to go which I always appreciate. She also knew to pull the chair out for the wheelchair. The food was wonderful and generous in serving size. I thought I was cutting back by not getting pizza, but I was wrong. The tenderloin was wonderful with a nice thickness and moist meat. The fries were generous and nicely seasoned. I had low expectations looking at the cole slaw, but I really enjoyed it. I was honestly stuffed after my meal. The meal came in at just over $13 without a tip. The menu is soups/salads, appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, wings, bar drinks, craft beer, and they do have a kids' menu. They also cater. Ordinarily, I'd take off a one-half to 1 star because of the parking lot and minor accessibility issues. However, I really enjoyed this experience and will go back. The service was wonderful. The food was great. The prices were fair. This was exactly what I needed on this Sunday afternoon! read more

Went tonight with my family and could not use a fork to cut through it, I asked for a knife ( was brought a butter knife) and could not cut through it then decided to use my granddaughters steak knife and STILL could not cut through it.
