It's a solid spot for pizza. You can tell they make them by hand as the toppings taste fresh. The 10" is enough for one person, but you can go larger if you're really hungry. The restaurant is kind of rustic which is a nice change of pace. Had a couple TVs, rock music playing, and a few rooms that divided the restaurant nicely. I was excited to finally go here after reading all the reviews. I can't say it was anything remarkable. We had The Colossus, Garlic bread with cheese and and the Mozerella plate. The pizza was actually very bland. A little crushed red pepper or even salt and pepper would help. All that was available at the table was packets of parmesan cheese. Definitely not worth $28. A server came by and took my plate following the appetizers and never brought me another one and our drinks weren't refilled. They weren't that busy. Impromptu date turned into getting food at Bazbeauxs. I've been to the one in Broad Ripple but this was my first time downtown. We sat outside. The food was okay this time around. I don't feel like we got the best service but the waiter still received a tip. Sitting outside where it was hot, we ran out of water a few times and asked another person for a refill. Outside was definitely a vibe. I had to ask for extra dressing because one cup wasn't enough. The pizza was hot but lacked flavor. I was able to fix it though. The crust has a little crunch to it, but is soft and tender on the inside. The toppings are plenty and spread out over the entire pizza. The sauces can stand alone and there is the perfect amount of cheese. Let's not forget the salads, giant salads. My personal favorite is the Antipasto salad, which really is a meal in itself. I've always heard of this pizza place across the street from a couple of my faves on mass (The Eagle and Bakersfield) but never been! Stopped by during happy hour (no happy hour specials literally was just meeting a cousin up here) she's a regular and ordered a colossus pizza which comes with... Pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, mushroom, red onion, green pepper, black olives! One of the BEST pizzas I've had in Indy especially downtown! I'm a sucker for pizzas with veggies (especially mushrooms the more the better) this pizza was so amazing and perfectly baked. Of course I had a dranky drank lol this is only a wine and beer bar so Sauvignon Blanc was my preference, the pours were great ounces and the wine was fresh! Such kind staff and environment! Coming as out of towners, this place made us feel like home. Came with a group of 19, hungry and unsure where to eat. As our first time in Indy, it was definitely an interesting experience and the staff was warm and welcomed us despite not having a reservation and being fairly busy. They seat us quickly, and were quick to have us seated with drinks. Major shoutout to Baxbeaux Pizza for making this experience a great one. The only con was that we were placed outside and there are no heaters for outdoor dining. I tried this place out when visiting my brother in Indianapolis. We chose to eat outside, considering the pandemic and all. The server was a real trooper, considering what we put him through (not intentionally). We kept that man going back and forth with our requests but he was exceptionally kind and made sure to take good care of us. We ordered several sausage and pepperoni pizzas. They tasted good, but I wasn't entirely crazy about the way the sausage (crumbles) was prepared. They were cooked through, but weren't really "attached" to the pizza, in that they literally rolled around, giving us a great deal to scoop up off of their plates. I will compliment them on the generous portions, but I guess I like mine sausage embedded a little better in my pizza. I know that sounds strange, but hey. Still, I didn't consider it a deal breaker. I really don't have anything bad to say about Bazbeaux's. The staff is always friendly. The service is good. The food is fresh and the ambience is just right for date night or big groups. The bayou chicken is always my go to there. Caesar salad is pretty good as well. read more

Every time I go to Bazbeaux Pizza it's always delish!! The food is really flavorful and I absolutely love the crust. I think that's my favorite part. It reminds me of a cracker and has that crunch to it. I would say the pizza could do a little more seasoning and marinara but it's still really good! We normally get the large for $23 and we enjoy it! We always do pick up, so we are not sure of the service. However when we pick it up, the service is always good. Parking is not that convenient when you try to go to a restaurant in downtown but we got lucky tonight. We drove into the spot right front of the restaurant. We were able to walk right in and get a table. Restaurant do have a bar but the area is separated from the regular dining area. We ordered Mexican style, regular cheese and bbq chicken pizza. They were all good. Thin crust was thin and crispy. Vegetable tasted fresh. Every bite made crunch sound especially the green pepper on my bbq chicken pizza. Bazbeaux's - I appreciate the amount of toppings to cheese ratio you add to your pizzas. I like how you have green olives too. It's the little things. The Colossus and the BBQ chicken pizza are 10's. I personally like how they have a lot of great pizza combinations besides pepperoni, sausage, or cheese. The "Bayou Chicken" pizza with the cajun chicken sounds like another winner along with "The Luke," blue cheese and buffalo chicken together that's another winning combo. They use quality ingredients that make it a great place to enjoy pizza. They also have a great sandwich that's famous in New Orleans that you can hardly find here the Muffuletta! If you're wanting a light and refreshing dessert try the sorbetti. It's like eating a frozen creamsicle slushy in an orange. I highly recommend those! They have orange and lemon to choose from. You may be thinking I haven't been to Bazbeaux's in awhile. Bazbeaux is my go-to place for pizza downtown. They serve great thin crust pizza with unique toppings and combinations. The restaurant itself has lots of comfortable seating with cute, rustic feel inside and an outside patio option. My favorite is the "Get Fresh" which is topped with sweet, juicy oven roasted tomatoes, mozzarella, balsamic vinegar, and a mountain of peppery arugula. It's the perfect balance of flavors. My other two favorites are the Greek and the Mexican. They have a gluten-free crust available and also a whole wheat crust option. I actually really love the earthiness and depth of flavor that the whole wheat crust adds and would recommend giving it a try! We haven't tried anything else besides the pizza, but next time we'll have to give those yummy looking salads a try. We've only done dine-in and have always had great service with very friendly staff. I would be prepared to wait a little for the pizza though, as they do get a lot of take out orders. From a price perspective, it's definitely going to be a little more expensive than a chain pizza restaurant, but you are paying for higher quality ingredients and a more unique pizza experience. We love supporting local restaurants and would definitely recommend giving Bazbeaux a visit! read more

We had an up and down experience here. The fresh mozzarella plate was amazing, but the Mexican pizza had brown avocado on it. The Tchoupitoulas pizza was awesome, but the service was slow and we were sitting for a long time waiting for our check. The "personal" pizzas that they serve are fairly large, and we both ended up taking some home for lunch tomorrow, which was nice. Bang for your buck for sure, just make sure you get a pizza that can travel and be eaten later. The avocado on the Mexican pizza was already brown, I knew it would not last until lunch the next day. Have been a fan of Bazbeaux for many years while working downtown. But have seen a true decline in the quality of the pizza overall in the past several years. Mostly with the crust - went there two days ago, and with no exaggeration here - the pie crust was so thin I could have rolled it up like a tortilla...see picture below - tortilla wrap on left and pie crust on left. And it was chewey though dark on the bottom. Couldn't pick a slice up as the crust was just too flimsy. Also, they've gotten pretty skimpy on meat toppings. Very disappointed. Waitress offered to re-do it but we really didn't have time to wait for a do-over, and wanted to eat. Also, since the pie-makers we saw all had long hair and burly beards, would've been nice to see some hair nets while making the food. Had arranged to meet His Goatness's Dad & sweetheart at The Eagle... it was SLAMMED, with clusters of hungry, thirsty libation seekers collecting like impatient dust-bunnies on the heat-baked sidewalk outside. We crossed the street to BazbeauxPizza, which didn't look as busy... but as there was a 20-minute wait inside, we opted to roast outside on the patio. His Goatness located the only shaded table, and we all happily launched into cold beverages. Quite a decent craft beer selection (plus cider, which hit the spot), divided into Local, Not-So-Local, and Faraway categories (I do love supporting local), PLUS 14 beers/ciders on tap (as the menu says, "None of which are listed here.") Also a decent wine list. Inside, in the coveted air conditioning, there was a 21+ only section, which I'm assuming had a full bar. Opted for salads to start with... while the Caesar I got was fresh and tasty, the antipasto salad His Goatness ordered was the. Best. I've. Ever. Tried. (It was devoured too quickly for a photo.) Delicate slivers of prosciutto and other high-quality charcuterie, tiny spiced shrimp, hearts of palm and artichoke, caper buds and paper-thin red onions, fresh crisp mixed greens... I could've been entirely satisfied with just that. But the pizza arrived. Many lovely and creative choices on the menu... I opted for the Napoli, with gooey melted cheese, capers, and anchovies, with a bright green confetti of julienned fresh basil over the whole. Everything, from the crisp, tasty, perfectly baked thin crust, to the high-quality ingredients adorning the center, was perfect. I don't usually eat my pizza bones, but the crust was devoured down to the last crumb. I might only add sweet cherry tomatoes to balance the salty fish next time... devoured the whole thing in one sitting, regardless of my intention to take home leftovers (alas). They have multiple locations around the city, but my go to is the downtown location on Mass Ave. I would highly recommend the anti pasta salad and garlic cheese bread as appetizers. As far as the pizza, you can't go wrong with any of their specialty options. I personally love the colossus (pictures with no olives and add hearts of palm) and the Quattro which has 4 cheeses and A LOT of bacon! They also deliver which is great if you're in the mood for a high quality pizza and not just smother chain delivery place.
