    Regular size boneless plate

The chicken is definitely tasty--crispy, flavorful, and satisfying when you're craving Korean fried chicken. The sides are good too, and overall the food quality is solid. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and air conditioned, which makes it easy to sit down and enjoy your meal. The staff is efficient and gets the job done, although they come across a little like young efficient robots--polite enough, but not much personality or warmth. My only real issue is the price. It is hard for me to justify spending $17+ for a plate with just a few pieces of boneless chicken and some sides. If the prices were a little more reasonable, or the portions included a bit more chicken, I could justify a 5-star rating. For now, it is a solid 4 stars based on the cost-to-value ratio. The food is good enough that I would still come back once in a while.

Good food, good chicken! We definitely ordered too much than we could handle. Prices are also reasonable. Taking one star off because we ordered boneless plates and one of the chicken pieces was basically all bone. Possibly a junk piece of chicken that should've ended up in the trash. Cole slaw was alright, kinda mushy. Mandoo was good and the rice with sauce and furikake was good too. Service was very friendly too. Plentiful parking outside, located on the same level as Aiea bowl.

Today I ordered a mini boneless chicken. I told the guy I don't eat rice so he offered me French fries. I took the fries...I notice after I paid that I was charged $2 more for the fries. Asked about if I got the rice and Cole slaw ... it would have been cheaper. Not right! The boneless chicken wasn't crispy. And they didn't give me any dipping sauce for my fries.

As good as other BB.Q locations! After shopping and walking around the Aloha Stadium swap meet, we were hungry. Yes there are vendors there, but we wanted fried chicken. Yelp spotted two KFC places nearby and BB.Q was one of them. I wanted to try the other place, but a cousin confirmed which was better and said, "We're going to BB.Q Chicken!" Perfect! It's located within a little shopping corner, and had plenty of parking spaces. The location itself was fairly small I'd say, with only about six or seven tables. But overall, the place appeared clean. Ready to order, ready to grub! Even though I knew the menu in my head, I kept staring up at the menu board to see if they've got anything different. I've never seen the Red Chak Chak Wings which apparently is heavily flavored with black peppers and extra chili. Nor have I tried the Butter Crunch Wings, which also seemed interesting. The party I was with were from Texas, and they've never had BB.Q before. So I ordered the regulars: The Golden Original ($19.99), Half and Half Wings ($34.99) with Honey Garlic and Spicy Galbi. And man were they lovin' it! Can beat the original or the honey garlic if you've never been. The wings were deep fried well enough, hot with every bite, tender inside, and crunchy on the outside like it should be! Service seemed OK, helpful, nothing to complain about. Our mouths overlooked service. We ordered, we ate, we were satisfied!

We got a plate here of their secret sauce chicken! Excellent as usual! Staff were friendly and food was served promptly. There's ample seats and table to dine in. Parking is alright and not too crowded. This place is one of our favorite chicken places on Oahu!

BB.Q Chicken in Aiea next to Aiea Bowl is nice. It's the classic Korean Fried Chicken franchise (the best KFC franchise) and is still so good and reliable! I came in and ordered Togo, there was ample seating and it was so clean on the inside! A bonus, AIR CONDITIONING They also offer MILITARY DISCOUNT! Yayyy

I have had this place recommended to me so many times and I now understand why. The service is nothing other than fast and thorough, I ordered a 40 pack of boneless wings and fries for a small superbowl get together and it was perfect for the occasion. The honey garlic is by far my favorite and the hot spicy is delicious despite burning my mouth off. They were hot and crispy. I did order and pick up and upon walking into the restaurant it was clear it was not a place to sit down and enjoy a meal due to the many many orders they were lining up for pick up and the tables pushed to the side but that could have been due to the superbowl and a high fluctuation of demand. But if you are looking for a place to pick up wings for yourself or for a party I would recommend this place ten times over.

I was craving Korean fried chicken and found myself at bb.q Chicken, located in Aiea Shopping Center, right next to Aiea Bowl. We arrived right when it opened at 11 on a weekday and there was only one person ahead of us in line. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and lively with large TVs playing upbeat K-Pop songs and dramas. We were greated by a friendly worker and ordered a full honey garlic wings plate and a full hot spicy wings plate. Each plate came with 6 pieces of wings, furikake rice, mandoo, and mac salad or coleslaw. We waited a quick 20 minutes and recieved our chicken hot and fresh. Both dishes were delicious with sweet and savory crispy chicken. Bring wet wipes if you can! Our stomachs were full but our hands were sticky. I definitely plan on returning to try their other chicken flavors!

Let's get the last of the sub par ratings out of the way before some Holiday cheer! The largest Korean Fried Chicken franchised chain in the world whose Hawaii location makes the best tasting colon cleanse EVER! Read on and you'll get it. Trying this locations KFC instantly made me wonder how can Korean people in Korea not look like us obese Americans? Looked at pics of bb.q KFC in Malaysia, Singapore and vids direct from South Korea and the chicken didn't look the same. Case in point, the "honey garlic", a type of batter coated crispy chicken, different.. Was this coated multiple times and deep fried repeatedly until the well brined, juicy chicken part inside was cooked? The outer layer is so thick, it doubles the size of the wingettes and drumettes to the point you can't tell them apart. Yes the honey garlic coating is tasty but the coating, even while being crisp, retains so much oil it isn't possible to eat more than two pieces. The "black pepper", more traditional dry dredged, is plenty juicy with a huge amount of black pepper kicking up the mala heat but has been deep fried in oil not to temp. Greasy. Really tasty KFC but so oily that just four pieces resulted in the same number of uhhhh cleanses. Too bad because this could have been a real winner.

Their parking lot is also pretty decent size, so we had no trouble finding a spot. The banchans were good! One of the sides was poke, which we've never seen at a Korean restaurant before. It was unexpected, but so fresh and delicious. We ordered the cold noodles, spicy pork bulgogi, and seafood pancake. Everything was really good, and we'd honestly rank those dishes above most of the Korean restaurants we've been to. The seafood pancake was packed with seafood flavor, and they definitely didn't skimp on the squid. The spicy pork bulgogi came with a bowl of rice and had the right amount of spicy. The cold noodles totally hit the spot and had just the right amount of toppings in every bite. I was left very satisfied and we even had leftovers of the pork and pancake to take home. Service was friendly, and everything arrived in a timely manner. We'll definitely be back soon to try the AYCE and the soups!

I came here for lunch. I noticed this place changed owners awhile ago. Under the new name,…read moreMoobongri, they offer Ala carte menu items as well as an AYCE menu. I like that they open at 10am and that they serve delicious banchan. I came in one weekday and was seated at one of the regular tables. I guess they assumed I wasn't going to get the AYCE, even though it's pretty affordable for weekday lunch (like $28). Id like to come back to try the ayce sometime. I decided on the cold noodle and kalbi combo for $24. The cold noodles by themselves are only $14, so I thought there would be at least a couple pieces of kalbi in the combo. Nope. Apparently one piece of kalbi is $10. It was served hot, but it was served on a hot plate with onions and the plate itself wasn't hot. Why serve it on a hot plate? Very confusing. The cold noodles were refreshing, but you can get pretty good cold noodles at any Korean restaurant I think. I was a little disappointed in the quantity of food for the combo. Or I wish they had an actual lunch special, maybe I should have just got the ayce at this point right? But I wanted the cold noodles.... Oh well. It doesn't seem like they changed the interior all that much. It was pretty nice inside to begin with and there is a big parking lot. The workers come by when you ring the table side bell. Lol, otherwise they kind of just drop off the food and leave you alone. I was surprised there were like 3 other couples eating from the Ala carte menu at 10:30. I would possibly come back to try their other soups, but I wouldn't get suckered into getting the combos.

Was a quick 15 minute drive from the Hilton village. Arrived to find a no frills restaurant. First discovered meat jun while out in Lanai and loved it. Opted for both the meat jun mix and kalbi plate. Food was ready within 5 mins and decided to eat back at our hotel as we had a full kitchen and dining table. The food smelled amazing and somehow we made it back in less than 10 mins. The kalbi and bbq chicken were both awesome. Was really disappointed with the meat jun as it had a weird chewy texture. Upon closer inspection, not sure if it was even beef! Loved how they include both kimchi and cooked bean sprouts with each plate. We thought the portions were pretty generous and had more than enough for lunch the next day! Would definitely head back for both their kalbi and bbq chicken during our next visit out to HNL. Bring cash as that's the only payment accepted here!!

HISTORY: Soon's korean bbq smoky aromas drenching the neighborhood are a core childhood memory. I…read moregrew up in the 80s nearby, cruising Salt Lake Shopping Center from back when there was Pioneer Chicken and Kana's Ice Cream and Pay n' Save and Sizzler's. My parents would stop pick up Soon's on the way to UH games at the stadium, a Saturday splurge (they were never cheap) when my mom didn't have time to make musubi and hotdogs. Maybe i'm suffering from "da good ole days" syndrome, but my first trip back to Soon's in about ten years left me Broken Hearted... VALUE: the portions were OK, Soon's always gave a satisfying portions but never "masu's massive" satisfying. I thought they used to drop a rubbery fried mandoo as a bonus side with your plate but i could be wrong and i got none today. AMBIANCE: it seemed cleaned up, definitely. but like when you see an old plantation house with a thick coat of bright glossy latex it just felt a little off in a less charming, trying-too-hard kind of way. For reference, I absolutely love the "Honesty" of Bob's BBQ on Waikamilo, and BBQ Kai in Waianae. FOOD: I ordered a couple BBQ Chicken and Meat Jun plates for some contractors working on my parents' house nearby, thought that was a safe bet but NOPE. I felt bad i gave the contractors the terrible meat jun i wanted to apologize was so embarrassing. MEAT JUN - (2/10, +one point cuz it didnt give me food poisoning). Soon's version always was thin, but today was Next Level chintzy. I dunno if the meat was over-pounded flat to stretch it out but even WITH the coating it was the SIZE AND TEXTURE OF BITING INTO A STICK OF STALE WRIGLEY'S JUICY FRUIT THAT WAS FORGOTTEN IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BACKPACK FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS DURING A HUMID SUMMER VACATION, but without the burst of fruity goodness. So maybe a more apt analogy would be texture and flavor LIKE BITING INTO A STICK OF CLAY. MEAT JUN SAUCE - (nostalgic 8/10). sweet and tasty, but Why do they give only that MINI thimble portion cup of sauce?!? THE CLAY-LIKE MEAT JUN DOESN'T EVEN FIT THE OPENING OF THE TINY %#@$ CUP!! BBQ CHICKEN - (solid 6/10). Always over-marinated, the classic soon's tasty but heavy handed preparation. Clearly benefits from nostalgia. OTHERS - the BBQ meat / bulgogi is also over marinated, with small/medium shreds of slightly dry and too-hard meat. meh. - the "banchan" tsukemono kimchee foil pocket of veggies was always a treat, but so small. plus the kimchee is super weak more orange and sour than truly tasty. The TREAT - SECRET IS TO POUR A PRECIOUS FEW DROPS OF YOUR TINY CUP OF MEAT JUN SAUCE OVER THE VEGGIES TO GIVE IT A TASTY KICK. VERDICT: I grew up with Soon's, but I want to remember them fondly so I'm Never going back. My parents still live in Salt Lake so I'm sad. Guess I'm just going to file Soon's away with the fuzzy old memories of Aloha Stadium, the Islanders, and the 'Bows v. BYU. Next time i need Korean bento I'm going to Gina's.
