We ordered the half & half boneless with honey garlic and spicy galbi, bulgogi poutine, and French fries. The chicken is very crispy and flavorful. Each piece is also pretty juicy, which is nice because a lot of places tend to make their boneless chicken dry. The spicy galbi was not overly spicy, but had a nice kick to it. The honey garlic was sweet and savory, it is my go-to flavor from them. I have also tried their other flavors, but nothing else stands out in a good way. I personally do not like their cheeseling and soy garlic flavor, but the rest of the flavors are all alright. The bulgogi poutine is also on the sweeter side, but was nice to eat and offset the chicken flavor. Nothing goes too wrong with having potato, cheese, and meat in a dish. The cheesling at this place might just be Gods gift to fried chicken; it is always fresh, crispy, hot, and delicious. The rose tteokbokki and the Gangnam style chicken are also quite good. I would love to give this place at least 4.5 stars, however, when I go during the daytime for some reason the service is significantly worse. The signature sauce chicken was not fresh and I had to walk over to the servers to ask for the check. Additionally, I don't know how much control they have over this, but I would not recommend ordering from here because it never seems fresh or fully coated in sauce/powder when ordered. We ordered the bulgolgi poutine and golden olive chicken. I was very happy with the bulgolgi poutine because it was super flavorful and didn't skimp on any of the toppings! There was so much yummy bulgolgi on top, and the cheese was perfectly melted on top of the taters! The size was very large, too - big enough for me and two guys ! The golden olive chicken was good, but I honestly thought it was a little plain for my taste. I've had their secret sweet chicken and loved that so much more. The coating on the golden olive chicken was very yummy and crunchy! It just wasn't very flavorful at all. Our waiter was very attentive, but quite awkward and seemed very nervous to be waiting on us. I have no authentic experience to go off of for Korean Fried Chicken, but I do know that BB.Q is a Korean chain since I see it in so many K.Dramas I watch, so I finally gave in and tried it and I was honestly surprised. The flavors we got: Soy Garlic, Galbi, Spicy Galbi, Golden Olive, and Cheesling (over 2 separate orders - XMas Eve & New Years Eve haha). My partner wasn't a fan of the cheeseling flavor, but I was. We both love the simplicity and slight spice to Golden Olive. We also enjoyed the other flavors we got. As someone who typically likes things boneless, I'll proudly admit that their wings / whole chicken are way better. Though their boneless were fine, there wasn't as good of a crispy to juicy chicken ratio due to the boneless pieces being more 1-3 bite pieces. My partner has been the one to pick up the take out, but they've always been super busy so the order hasn't always been ready upon arrival, which isn't a huge deal. This Korean fried chicken spot is definitely unique. The spot in NYC has everything pre-packaged so you can just pick up and go but everything here is made to order. There's plenty of seats inside so I've never had to wait long for a table but they definitely do get busy during peak dinner hours. The service is alright and because the chicken is made to order, there is a long wait but it just means you get a fresh, hot batch of fried chicken. Of course a must get is the fried chicken. My favorite is the golden olive fried chicken but I'm a little disappointed since the batter on the golden olive fried chicken seemed to have changed. It used to be a more flakey type of batter on the skin (like Popeye's but less greasy tasting) but it seemed to have changed to the thinner type of fried skin. It still maintains all the juices inside the chicken but it doesn't give the same crisp and effect that it used to. The secret sweet and hot spicy pieces are also smaller than it used to be and it was just drizzled in sauce instead. I also really like their boneless wings, particularly cheesling and soy garlic, as well as their wings in general. They also have other foods besides chicken and I like them all! The bulgogi poutine was very flavorful but I wish there was melted cheese on it and more kimchi. The kimchi fried rice lacks a bit of heat but was still good. Their spicy rice cakes are actually really tender compared to most places, which is a bonus and the jjim-dak is also good! I would get these just to complement the fried chicken and think it's best to get these for the table to share. I always get a full range of flavors to eat -- golden olive, Gangnam, soy garlic, spicy, and the rice cakes. The staple golden olive is my favorite. It tastes like a standard yummy fried chicken that doesn't feel too oily. The soy garlic is my runner up and is better than other chains that serve soy garlic. It has a lot of garlic flavor (yuuuum) with a bit of sweetness. The cheesling wings were a bit too much for me. It's the fried chicken except there is an intense amount of powdered cheese all over it. It's to the point where all I taste is the cheese powder, but I suppose that's the point. The spicy one used to be crazy spicy where I would sweat in my seat and order a side of fries to save me. The ones I got this time were not really that saucy and just had the sauce on the skin. It also has a bit of sweetness which I like. The rice cakes tasted a bit different than I remember. It used to be a very thick saude with a slight tomato-ey taste but when I had it this time it tasted like the one at bonchon but thicker. this is hands down the freshest Korean fried chicken I have ever had. We ordered the olive wings (bone in), which is their classic fried chicken and their honey garlic (bone out). They also have a spicy version and honey garlic but have never tried honey garlic so opted for this! I've seen BBQ Olive when visiting Korea and always wanted to give it a try so was so happy when I saw that they had one in Allston! The wings themselves are amazing!! Way better than the other Korean fried chicken places I have been to. They were so fresh, the right amount of crispy and not too breaded. They were piping hot on the inside. The honey garlic was incredibly flavorful and wasn't too sweet. I loved how each of the flavors had just the right amount of flavor (with a slight spiciness to it) and the best part is... barely could taste any oil and barely got any oil on my hands!! That's super impressive. This literally was the dream fried chicken for me! The chicken also comes with white radish -honestly not the best that I've had before and wish they gave one cup of radish for each order of chicken - felt like they were skimping a bit! In terms of environment, we came here fairly late on a Sunday evening so we were seated at one of the booths immediately. The space is a bit outdated and run down, definitely needs a bit of an upgrade in terms of aesthetics. Also, It's a bit quiet/eerie, where you can hear the staff taking orders and frying the chicken in the back. But overall, i liked how it wasn't too rowdy, especially during Covid. would suggest playing some music to balance out the background noise though for the future! In terms of alcohol, they only have beer at this location (no soju!) which I was a bit bummed about and their beer selection is far and few in between but at least they had the basics. We bought the whole chicken half & half; the Golden Original was so simple but yummy and the Secret Sauce was super sweet and delicious. Despite being drenched in sauce, the latter was still just as crispy as the Golden Original. We also got the Rose Ddeokkbokki, which was pretty spicy (I have a low-to-medium spice tolerance level) and delicious, though expensive at ~$15. One menu note: The Secret Sauce chicken and Rose Ddeokk bokki were both listed with one pepper spiciness level but had two totally different levels of spiciness! The Rose Ddeokkbokki made my nose run, while the secret sauce was more like a sweet chili sauce (I would have given it 0 or -1 peppers). The Secret Sweet was sweet (as the name suggests) and mild. With the Gang-jeong, you can definitely taste the hints of cinnamon. Neither were particularly spicy, which is what we were lookin for. The fried chicken and the sauces that they have here are awesome! For our party of 4, we ordered a large order of wings, two medium wings, and the Bulgogi Fried Rice.
